SBC’s Refreshing Watermelon Shower Gel & Shampoo

We FINALLY are experiencing Summer here in the UK! It’s warm, most of the days its bright…and fingers crossed dry too. And whether Summer is your favourite season or not ( I will let you into a little secret it isn’t mine! ), everyone gets into the habit of being drawn to Summer related things. Clothes, fragrances, food and even bath and body products for me at least aren’t always the same items used or worn during cooler seasons. One of my favourite products sitting in my bathroom at the moment is SBC’s Refreshing Watermelon Shower Gel & Shampoo. I bought this a few months ago in a set from QVC as it was discounted at a special price ( known as a Today’s Special Value ).

What do you get? This came in a whopping 1ltre size with a pump action dispenser making using it super easy. This is a formula that can be used in the bath, shower or even on hair as a shampoo.

Appearance & Consistency. Red in colour, semi opaque and is of the typical thickness you would expect from a shower gel or foaming/bubble bath product.

Scent. In a word beautiful! Watermelon is an odd scent to even think of let alone describe. But how this product smells to me is that’s its very fruity, sweet and berry based but not overpowering or too much for me. Since I’m someone who loves sweet scents and fruity ones this is perfect.

In the shower or bath. In the shower you really don’t need much. One pump on a sponge and mixed in with water this lathered up so well and easily washed my whole body. In the bath I used a few pumps, and the amount of foam produced was a lot and just how I like my bubble baths to be….foamy and fragrant!

On the skin. One thing I noticed with this product is my skin felt very clean after using this without drying it out. It left a faint scent to my skin which is always a nice way to finish off a bath or shower but it didn’t linger.

Family use. My son uses this in the shower as well. He’s at an awkward age where bathing isn’t top of his priority list and although he does it, wants it over and done with. But he likes using this because of how much it foams and the fragrance. Definitely a great one for the younger members of family because of how it smells which would appeal to most of them and I found it gentle on his skin.

As a shampoo? This is a bath, shower and shampoo product. But I have no comment on the shampoo side. I have afro Caribbean hair and I am very picky when it comes to what I wash my hair with as I can’t just use anything on it, so using this product as a shampoo I can’t review how it performs.

4 Piece Summer Collection from QVC

Recommended? Totally! This is indeed a Summer in a bottle product! The smell is great, it works well on the skin and the size makes this ideal for family use. What more could you ask for? You can purchase this individually direct from SBC’s website from £6.00 ( sizes varied ) here.

Zoella Gelat’eau Body Mist

Designer fragrances are not something I purchase regularly. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I spent a significiant amount of money on a branded/fashion eau de toilette or eau de parfum. Why? I don’t get paid that much! It’s very much a considered purchase for me, and despite the fact I love to smell nice, I try and get fragrances that are affordable. Affordable means I can buy a wide range of fragrances at a fraction of the price of just one designer branded one and can have a scents wardrobe at my disposal. Body mists are a great way of getting a fragrance without breaking the bank. Zoella’s Gelat’eau Body Mist from Home Bargains at £1.49 for 45ml DEFINITELY falls into the affordable purchase category, but is it any good?

Why this one? It was a few days before my family holiday and I thought it would be nice to take a new fragrance with me. The packaging and price appealed to me, and although I didn’t actually get the chance to smell this I guessed this would be quite a youthful and uplifting scent based on appearance and whose name this was associated with so I thought I had nothing to lose.

Zoella? Zoella is a well known personality on social media as a vlogger and has a huge beauty range on the high street which seems very popular, so already has solid background in this field.

Appearance/packaging. Simple and sweet in look, but looks more expensive than what it costs. White bottle, copper coloured lid, peach, grey and copper/gold coloured writing screams to me something aimed at a younger, fashionable market and dare I say more perfume in appearance than a mist.

Zoella Gelat’eau Body Mist

Scent. Sometimes judging a book by its cover isn’t wrong! This is not that far off from what I thought this would smell like. Its an effervescent fruity and sweet fragrance, similar to many things that are scented with one of my all time favourites smells which is rhubarb ( but not quite! ). Not sickly in the slightest as its not overpowering and somehow remains quite fresh and quite clean.

Longevity. This is my go to fragrance to wear for work and this does have to work quite hard as my job is quite physical. But if I spray this on in the morning I can still smell it in the afternoon, although not as strong, but still there. So this lasted very well. I didn’t expect too much considering the price and the fact its a mist, but its done its job fabulously!

Recommended? Definitely! If like me you love your fragrances to be more fruit or sweet based this one is for you. Its youthful, energising and perfect to wear during the Summer months and for day time use. If you are lucky to see this for the price I paid in a discount store, its worthwhile buying a few of these as its not a regular stock item on the high street due to it ( I assume ) being an older subrange. But it can be bought online from Feel Unique for £6.40 here.

This is what I would call affordable luxury!
