Strawberry Melts Vanellope Wax Chunks

This is one blog post that I’ve been dying to write. Why? Well…as a lover of fragranced wax in various shapes, scents and guises, certain pieces sold by vendors make me happy. This scent from Strawberry Melts has been available from them during different restocks and as much as I’ve wanted to buy it I haven’t..until it last went up for sale a few months ago.

Why this? The scent description was like someone shoving a cookie in my face and asking me to take a bite!. It sounded moorish, it sounded delicious, it sounded perfect for me! I also love chunks because of the amount you get. Having an idea I would love this I wanted more than the amount you would get in a standard pot or mini melt shape. And the physical look of chunks is so pretty and easy on the eye, so why would I NOT want this?

Strawberry Melt’s Vanellope Wax Chunks

How do these chunks look? My bag contained 6 great sized chunks in the scent of Vanellope. Each chunk similar, but not identical, in look and size giving it that perfect handmade look. Pillar box red in colour with lime green coloured chunks running through them.

Scent description ( Strawberry Melts ). Vanilla lime topped with strawberry marshmallow cream. House blend.

How does this smell? This scent reminds me so much of something and for the love of it I can’t recall what it is. But it definitely takes me somewhere when I smell this. You get an equal hit of of a zesty, fresh citrus ( lime ) with a blast of fruity strawberry rounded off with a sweet creaminess coming from the vanilla. It’s a beautiful blend. Its one of those blends that’s uplifting, energising, sweet, fruity yet clean all at the same time.

Strength. I used the smallest chunk out of my bag and this gave me a good medium strength in my kitchen. Longevity is great. Melted over 2 days for at least 8 hours and I could still smell this.

Recommended? YESSSS! Its gorgeous. Great for those who like citrusy scents but want something a little different and vice versa for this who love more fruity scents. This is one of those scents I can’t imagine not putting a smile on someones face. Strawberry Melt’s constantly change their stock because of course their waxes are hand made, so keep an eye on their website for this special scent to come up, or join their group for wax chit chat here as there are opportunities to get custom made wax in various scents at certain times.

*Anyone who has bought and melted this please share with me your thoughts and pop it in the comment box!*

Philosophy’s Pure Grace Whipped Body Crème

The budget that I allow myself to spend on…well…myself…has changed a lot since becoming a mum. Its funny how I will now get excited seeing the latest doll my daughter would love and I will plot to make a mad dash out of work with credit card in hand to go and buy it for £40, yet ummm and ahhhh about whether I should treat myself to a new bath bomb at the cost of £2.50! But it doesn’t mean my love affair of brands that you won’t find in your local supermarket or discount store has died. And my love for the brand Philosophy is one I won’t shake off. One of their products I have stashed away is their Whipped Body Creme in their famous Pure Grace fragrance.

Philosophy as a brand. If you haven’t heard of Philosophy before they are a US company that creates and sells a variety of beauty products that range from fragrances to body lotions, face creams to cleansers and so much more.

Why have I delved into this body product? It’s one of those products if I don’t use it for awhile I forget what its like and when I remember I can’t put it down! Its one of those products you could use anytime during the year but even more so when it gets colder and I felt my skin would really appreciate this now more than ever.

Packaging. Simple, and very clean in look. Product is in a medium sized jar, screw top lid, with writing in black on the label e.g brand and product name, ingredients etc. No fuss, very classy and totally unisex.

Pure Grace Whipped Body Creme

Texture. Not thin or runny as a body lotion and not as thick or emollient like as a body butter. It’s quite solid in the tub so the first time I used this I was quite surprised that it was almost whipped in texture but not overally light and airy.

On the skin. Very easy and quick to rub in but less is more. You don’t need much, but I found that once it was rubbed in my skin felt soft and smooth, and had a healthy, hydrated sheen to it. Not greasy or oily at all, and I could put my clothes on pretty much straight away.

Scent. Anyone who has used or possibly heard of Philosophy will know they are famous for their scents and Pure Grace is definitely one of them! Imagine that fresh, clean, either just come out of the shower or washed your hair type of scent and this is it. To say it smells like soap and water doesn’t do it justice but it sort of describes it so well…. but done in a very modern way.

Lets talk price! It isn’t cheap. For the same size jar I have ( 8oz ), direct from Philosophy it costs £29.00. I didn’t pay this I bought it in a set so with all the other pieces that it came with was actually great value. But you are paying for a premium product from a brand that sits in department stores in the US and the UK.

Recommended? You could spend literally a couple of pounds on a body lotion and your skin can look and feel good, which this product does. But if you can stretch to spending more and making this a special purchase for yourself or someone else, what you get is an amazing product that ticks all boxes of what’s required from a body moisturiser, has an unusual and addictive scent ( I always get comments when I wear the actual Pure Grace fragrance without fail! ) and really is a joy to use even if its everyday and not kept for special occasions. If I was to be given this as a Christmas present, I would be a very VERY happy and clean smelling girl!

  • TOP TIP! Do what I did and look out for this in a gift set to get the best value. This product and others from the Pure Grace range can be bought direct from Philosophy, QVC, Boots just to name a few places. Happy shopping!

Seraphim Scents Apple Butter Leaf Wax Melts

Picking up my children from school this week made me realise Autumn is here! Its cooler, leaves are turning into a reddish/brown colour and are now covering the path to my children’s class entrance. And I’m not ashamed to say this, but I love this time of year…. so much more than Summer for loads of reasons ( its cooler, I like hibernating, TV is better-thank you America’s ‘Fall’ season where my favourite shows release their new series and so on). And a new time of year means trying out new wax to fragrance my home bringing the change of season inside from outside. My first official Autumn wax purchased recently was from an Etsy seller called Seraphim Scents. And the fragrance of choice Apple Butter.

Why Apple Butter? Sounded unusual, very different and as a lover of bakery and fruity scents I didn’t think there was anything about this I wouldn’t like so I really wanted to give it a go for the first time.

Appearance. My usual wax pots come in one piece of solid wax and are housed in a lidded clear pot. These are different and are 30g of individual pieces of wax. Each piece flat, and beautifully leaf shaped. All dusted in a shimmering pigment, with some leaves rusty red in colour and some holographic gold. Although I haven’t sat counting these out, there’s easily about 15-20 pieces of wax.

Melting. I wasn’t too sure how many of the leaves to use as they are quite small, but I opted for 6. They melted as you can imagine super quick because of their size and the fragrance filled my kitchen quickly too. These were a joy to watch melt. The wax pool shimmered and glistened like molten copper.

Scent. There’s a hit of cinnamon but not the typical cinnamon scent you would think of when you cook or bake. It reminds me of a cinnamon flavoured chewing gum I used to buy years ago when on holiday in the States. So maybe more a confectionery take on cinnamon rather than the powdered or stick version. Its not an overpowering element but provides warmth to this fragrance. Once you get the cinnamon the apple comes through soon after. Think of juicy, crisp apples slowly rolling around in a pan with some butter simmering away with the smallest sprinkle of brown sugar ( this doesn’t scream sweet so don’t be afraid! ). And this is the scent you get!

Strength & Longevity. Strength wise based on using 6 pieces of the wax and it being melted in a small ( but not tiny ) kitchen, I would say this a medium. I’ve had this melting for 2 days now for quite a few hours per day and the scent is still there so longevity like strength is very good. One pot of Apple Butter Leaf Wax Melts provides great value even if it was being melted day in day out as it only costs £2.00.

Recommended?I absolutely LOVE this wax! Not only is it presented in a gorgeous yet simple way, but the scent is amazing. Its not one I’ve ever experienced before and if someone was heading towards a seasonal inspired scent, this for me screams Autumn but not the typical ones out there, such as gingerbread. Its not too fruity or bakery like…its perfection!
