  • Glow’s Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Sugar Scrub

Why is a body scrub a good body care product to use? It’s a simple, pampering and an effective product which can immediately improve the look and feel of the skin. It gets rid of dead and dry skin, smooths it out and improves the overall condition of it. Perfect step after cleaning the skin and before applying a moisturiser product. Do I love a body scrub? Yes. Do I use one often? No. Am I using one currently? Yes I am! I’m using Glow’s Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Sugar Scrub that was a part of their December Subscription Box. What is it like?

Glow’s Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Sugar Scrub
    Packaging

150g of scrub comes in a clear, plastic pot. It’s not an exciting form of packaging look wise but it’s practical, sturdy and you can see the product inside it.

    How does it look?

Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Sugar Scrub is a cute shade of soft pink. It looks rich and decadent, not totally smooth because there’s tiny sugar particles in it. It looks almost solid but it isn’t. Firm but soft.

    Fragrance

I experienced this fragrance in the Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Bubble Bar and this is exactly the same scent. Spicy in a cinnamon warming type of way, with a hint of cooling, fresh mint with a slight bakery smell. I had my doubts whether this fragrance would work because there’s a lot going on but the more I smell it the more I love it!

    On the skin

I used a fingertip of scrub on each body part. I made sure my skin was damp, and this rubbed over my skin like a dream. This almost melted while applying it. It became softer and created what I call a little ‘froth’ on the skin. I could feel the sugar in it because the sugar particles were the perfect size. Not too small where they wouldn’t do anything and not too big that they didn’t exfoliate. I could feel the exfoliating action and didn’t need to apply too much pressure. Easy to rinse off the skin. Using this while in the bath turned the water cloudy in an almost milk bath treatment way.

The fragrance of this is TO DIE FOR! This really made my bathroom smell good and I enjoyed using this product, not only because of the texture but because of the fragrance too.

My skin after using this, when dry, was incredibly soft and smooth. I noticed this while applying body lotion and also found my skin was lightly scented with the scrub’s fragrance.

Glow’s Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Sugar Scrub is a beautiful body product. The fragrance is seasonal, unusual and VERY good, the consistency of this product is perfect and it does what it’s designed to do on the skin. This body scrub NEEDS to be bought so totally recommended! Fragrance is a personal choice and Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread will be loved by many but not all, so there are other fragrance options to choose from. All scrubs are 150ml, cost only £3.50 each and available here.

  • My Kids Bought Me Snow Fairy Bath Bomb From LUSH

I wouldn’t say I’m the hardest person in the world to buy gifts for, but I’m not always the easiest. Like most people, you have to know my general likes and dislikes, and dig a little deeper to get more specific. My children know how much I love a bath and how I love to add various things into it. So for my last birthday, my children bought me a few things, including Snow Fairy Bath Bomb from LUSH. Did I enjoy it?

Snow Fairy Bath Bomb by LUSH
How does Snow Fairy Bath Bomb look?

I’ve had Snow Fairy Bath Bomb before but this looks different. This is in the Snow Fairy iconic bright pink colour. It’s shaped like a very cute and simple angel e.g wings, holding a wand, but the back of it is flat. Great size as it takes up the majority of the palm of my hand. Solid, quite weighty, and typical chalky bath bomb consistency.

    Fragrance

There isn’t too many people out there that doesn’t know what Snow Fairy smells like. It’s a sweet, fruity, slightly candyfloss type scent which is hard not to like.

    In the bath

Popping this bath bomb on the top of an already run bath was like watching a show. It fizzed and released a little froth and colour around it which slowly turned the once clear water into a deep shade of pink Barbie would appreciate! Snow Fairy Bath Bomb kept going and going and going. Releasing colour, fizzing up, floating all around the bath while slowly getting smaller and smaller. This bath bomb didn’t want to disappear! It must have been a good 10/15 minutes when it finally finished, leaving no residue in the bath but lots of colour.

    On the skin

My skin has had it’s ups and downs last year, so I wasn’t too sure whether this would do more harm than good. Thankfully, it caused no problems. No stripping of the skin, no irritation. The only thing I did notice is how areas of my skin became very pink! I held the bath bomb when it was in the bath and that became a different colour compared to the other hand. My feet looked a little pink in shade too. This did disappear after many washes of hands (left the feet, wasn’t bothered!). I think the colour stuck onto me more because these areas were dry and needed a good exfoliating.

    Recommended?

If you’re a fan of Snow Fairy as a range or scent and love bath bombs then of course it’s a must! It looks great, smells nice and creates a nice bath. Would I buy this myself? Probably not. Considering how vibrant the bath was (and my skin afterwards!) the fragrance should have matched it and it didn’t (should have been stronger). I also don’t fancy turning into a colour changing person so would probably opt for a different type of bath bomb of a different colour.

  • Limited Edition Winter Scented Air Fresheners By Glade

After celebrating Christmas and New Year, many of us are trying to get our homes in order. Decluttering, general cleaning, all seem to be on the list of things to do. A part of changing our homes from chaos to calm and clean, is using home fragrance products. Whether that’s wax melts, air freshener gels or automatic air fresheners, it seems the perfect time to make rooms not only look clean but smell it too. I found two aerosol air fresheners by Glade in Home Bargains in limited edition fragrances Warm Apple Pie and Berry Festive Kiss for 99p each. So what are they like?

Glade’s Limited Edition Berry Festive Kiss & Warm Apple Pie Air Fresheners
    Packaging

Tall, easy push down aerosol cannisters with each festively coloured with images reflecting the fragrances e.g Berry Festive Kiss, purple with raspberry and blackcurrant images. Warm Apple Pie red in colour with images of cinnamon sticks and apples. Both very festive in look, wintery and appealing.

Glade’s Warm Apple Pie Air Freshener
    Fragrance

Warm Apple Pie is that traditional mix of warming spicy slightly woody cinnamon with a crisp red apple scent underneath it. The spicy element is stronger than apple making it distinctively seasonal. I would have loved this to have been a touch sweeter but overall it’s a nice fragrance.

Berry Festive Kiss is a bowl of mixed berries with a sprinkle of sugar on top! Fruity, sweet, almost frosted in scent. Out of the two my favourite fragrance and great to use all year round.

    Glade’s Berry Festive Kiss
    Strength & Longevity

Both of these fragrances are noticeable when sprayed as you get the scents straight away. Not too strong and not too weak so perfect medium strength. The fragrances linger in the air for awhile and combats odours immediately e.g cooking. It lasts a decent amount of time but does disappear and not everlasting, but what air freshener IS everlasting?

    Recommended?

Having traditional seasonally scents are great to use at certain times of the year and these are great for right now. They are both very different scents. One being spicy one being fruity, but both really good with decent strength and longevity. For only 99p for 300ml each and by the brand Glade, this is great value. So if these types of fragrances are what you like, they need purchasing before they disappear. Definitely recommended!
