  • I Heart Revolution Sugar Cookie Bath Fizzer

It’s a running joke between myself and friends that I spend most of my time in the bath. I don’t mind, I love a bath! I’m always on the look out for bath products which are of a good quality, fairly priced and enjoyable to use so I can continue living my best mermaid life. One product I had my eye on when they were first released were the cookie bath fizzers from I Heart Revolution. Sugar Cookie Bath Fizzer was one that I purchased from Superdrug. This retails for £3.50 each.

I Heart Revolution’s Sugar Cookie Bath Fizzer

    Why did I buy these?

Ever had a mental shopping list of things you wanted to purchase? These cookie bath fizzers were definitely on mine. I timed my purchase of this very well because these fizzers were half price in Superdrug PLUS on a 3 for 2 deal so these were fabulously priced! I bought myself 3 of these and the other 3 have been put away for Christmas gifts.

    Packaging.

So cute! The fizzer itself is plastic wrapped but housed in a cardboard box. The box is various shades of pink, with a fun and cartoon like face of a monster on the front. It’s mouth is where you can see the fizzer peaking out of. I love how this is presented. Definitely more for the younger market than older, but is fun and eye catching.

    The Fizzer.

Shape and look wise this makes me think of a rusk biscuit for babies and toddlers! Flat bottom, slightly domed top but a little lumpy and uneven in texture. Not totally smooth around the outside, giving it a hand made look. Sugar Cookie is a good size. It takes up the whole palm of my hand. Lemon yellow in colour with pale pink splodge like circles on it. Texture is what you would expect from most bath bombs or fizzers, chalky and solid.

    Fragrance.

I gave this a good sniff before I used it and to be honest there was no defined scent I could pick up on. If chalky had a smell it would be that, the tiniest sweet hint to it but nothing specific.

    In the bath.

I popped this onto the top of a warm filled bath. Of course it fizzed as I expected, and did a little twirl and spin in the water which was nice to see. It slowly turned the water from clear to a very VERY pale green. The fizzer itself took a long time to disappear. But other than fizzing, disappearing and turning the water into a bit of a bland colour, that was all that happened in my bath. No obvious fragrance. If it was there it was so subtle I didn’t sniff it. No bubbles or foam, which I wasn’t expecting anyway. Just green coloured water.

I’m going to be honest, being in this bath was quite boring. No scent, no real colour and nothing to entertain me. In the end I poured in some foaming bath milk I had on the side to perk it up. Before I did this, I found the water wasn’t irritating or drying but not moisturising either.

    Recommended?

I wouldn’t buy this for myself again. It added nothing to my bathing experience and I didn’t enjoy it. I’ve bought and used many different types of bath bombs and fizzers over the years, and I think my expectations are quite high and this just didn’t cut it. I know what I want from a bath product and this didn’t deliver.

BUT…what I would say is this should be absolutely fine for a young person. They will like the packaging, the look of the bath fizzer and probably find it ok in the bath. So if you want to get a bath fizzer for someone young or someone who likes fizzers or bath bombs but isn’t very fussy about them, this would do the job. Think of the friend or family member who throws in 60p bath bombs from a supermarket or discount store into a shopping basket, then I think this would meet their requirements. But buy these when on offer e.g 3 for 2, a third off, half price etc.

To say I’m disappointed in this is an understatement as I was looking forward to using it. And the reviews for this fizzer (in various different fragrances) seemed good. But if I haven’t put you off with my lack of love for this product, at the time of writing this post this fizzer and others are on a 3 for 2 deal at Superdrug here.

  • Beauty Laundrette’s Detox Dip Bath Fizzer

Having a bath, a proper bath, is an experience. And one in my opinion that should last at least 30 minutes. Anything less than that is a waste of time and product. Surely a person deserves half an hour to themselves to relax? So you will never hear me utter an apology of how long I’m in the bath for or how many bath bombs, fizzers, scoops or foaming baths I own. I thought it was time to try out Beauty Launderette’s Detox Dip Bath Fizzer bought from Superdrug, that’s been hiding away in my stash for way too long. Normal price is £4.00, I got this when it was half price for £2.00.

Beauty Laundrette’s Detox Dip Bath Fizzer

    Why did I buy this?

This was a new range for me at the time, and because it covered bath, body, fragrance and skincare, I couldn’t help but try a product from each of these areas. With this bath fizzer, I did want to see how good the quality of it was. If it was good, it could potentially be an affordable repeat purchase for the future.

    Packaging.

The Detox Dip Bath Fizzer comes in a light turquoise coloured square box. Like the rest of the range, it’s packaged in a way that’s connected with doing your laundry and this box is styled to look like a basic washing machine. Very cute and is set off thanks to lettering and details being in red. The fizzer itself you can see from a circular hole at the front, is plastic wrapped.

    How does it look?

A super soft shade of lilac with a delicate and pretty shimmer to it. Round in shape, good decent size (quite standard for bath bombs to be fair) and not too heavy. No other details. Plain but pretty.

    Fragrance.

If you’ve tried their body mist in this range it has the same scent. It’s a collection of white florals, so quite fresh, clean, a little sweet but not too much. Very pleasant and very pretty, not old fashioned at all. And not too heavy in strength.

    How to use.

As you would with any bath fizzer or bath bomb, pop this under warm running water in the bath and enjoy.

    In the bath.

Oh this little fizzer fizzed and spun around in the water as soon as it got popped in! Twisted and turned while slowly making the bath water go from clear to pink. There was the smallest and thinnest froth made but no real bubbles. But in all fairness I didn’t expect this to turn into a bubble bath anyway. This fizzer took what felt like forever to go to bath fizzer heaven and totally disappear. Once gone it left a lovely coloured bath ready for chill time.

    Bath time!

The fragrance was there immediately from when this was placed in the bath. I didn’t think it would be so strong. I expected it to be very light but it was obvious and there. In fact, it travelled from the bathroom through the hallway down to the bottom of the stairs. This was of a good strength, with longevity and thoroughly enjoyable.

Bathing in this was relaxing. The colour and the fragrance really made it for me. I can be very picky with bath bomb type products and on the whole I prefer bubbles and a very hydrating bath, but not all bath bombs or fizzers are designed to create this. So for what it was it did really well. Didn’t irritate my skin which is suffering a bit from psoriasis at the moment, and didn’t dry it out.

    Recommended?

This is a good quality bath bomb. From how it’s packaged to how it looks thumbs up. Despite it being very simple in shape and design, it still is very pretty as the shimmer makes it stand out. Fragrance is beautiful. I like it more in this fizzer than the actual body mist which is funny as it’s identical! And lastly, it’s usual price isn’t earth shatteringly expensive so great for gift giving to yourself or others. Even better when on special offer which the range regularly is. So it’s recommended from me definitely!

  • Dirty Fresh Cosmetics Over The Rainbow Bath Bar

Cooler temperatures in the UK at the moment are very much welcomed by me. Feeling hot and sweaty all the time morning, noon and night, is not fun. Right now I can enjoy my bathing routine, relax and unwind, without continuously wiping away a sweat moustache or mopping up a dripping hair line. So is it time for a bath time treat? Oh yes I think it is! I couldn’t resist using Over The Rainbow Bath Bar by Manchester based Dirty Fresh Cosmetics. It costs £3.99, but I bought this earlier in the year when there was a special promotion on the website.

Dirty Fresh Cosmetics Over The Rainbow Bath Bar

    What’s a Bath Bar?

I think a bath bar is similar to a bath bomb, just in a bar shape! Like most bath bombs, these should provide colour, fragrance, and create an enjoyable bathing experience.

    What does it look like?

I love the look of this! The thing I find with bath bombs, fizzers, bubble bars etc, is look wise they need to be eye catching. They have to grab my attention and the better they look, the more chances it has for me to buy it. And what I like about this is it’s not intricate in look but attention grabbing it is! Rectangular in shape and quite chunky (8.5cm in length, 5 cm in width and 3 cm in depth).

Its made up of 3 block colours of a pinky purple, blue and orange. Each one layered on top of one another, in a handmade, natural, rock forming kind of way. On the top it’s green but with little multi coloured dots on it made up of the same colours as the other layers of the bar. Who wouldn’t want to use this in the bath??

    Fragrance.

I didn’t get much of a scent from this. What I did get was slightly fruity and creamy. Do bare in mind I’ve had this bath bar hidden away for months, which may have affected the fragrance and it’s strength.

    In the bath.

Wow! Talk about fizz, whirl and pop! As suggested on the website, I filled my bath with warm water and then popped the bath bar on the top. What it did was show what the meaning of bath art really is. It fizzed as soon as it touched the water. And with that fizzing action, streams of colours were released from it forming it’s own rainbow. All the colours featured in the bath bar before it went into the water was what was visible, purple, blue, orange and green. Absolutely stunning!

No bubbles were created, just a little foam as the colours came out due to the bath bar’s fizzing action. And once the colours had settled, the water itself turned into such an inviting, shade of emerald green which was unusual and very Loki like!

Still didn’t get much fragrance, only slight, but this didn’t bother me as I was enjoying the bath itself way too much. It was relaxing, and provided me with the perfect time to read my book!

    On the skin.

My skin has been a little strange of late. Generally fine on the body, but the most recent heat wave in the UK has made specific areas raised, and incredibly itchy. Thanks to a steroid cream, lots of moisturising and cooler temps, its in such better condition. But it’s still something that I’ve been cautious with when it comes to what it comes in contact with. And this has created no issues at all. No irritations, no drying out the skin or anything!

    Recommended?

For the look, size of this (130g, great amount of bath bar), how it looks in water and how gentle it was on the skin, it’s a definite yes! Price wise, if you were to get something similar from a well know bath bomb shop on the high street, this would cost much more. So great value and affordable. What I would want to do is get another one of these and use straight away, just to double check the fragrance. If the fragrance is stronger, then I’m buying these in bulk!

  • Squashies Bubblegum Bath Fizzer

When it comes to what I put in the bath I’m fairly opened minded in regards to the type of product, scent and brand. Although I would say I have an invisible check list when it comes to requirements, I’m happy to try most things. So when I saw Swizzels Drumstick Squashies Bath Fizzer in the fragrance of bubble gum for 99p in Home Bargains, I thought I would give it a go!

Swizzles Drumstick Squashies Bubblegum Bath Fizzer

Why buy this one? The packaging struck me. Brightly coloured, mirroring the packaging of the sweets that this is inspired by. It naturally caught my eye. I love anything bubble gum especially where scents are concerned. And for 99p I didn’t feel I had much to lose.

What’s a bath fizzer? I normally go for products labelled bath bombs rather than bath fizzers. So I’ve always assumed a bath fizzer would provide fragrance, colour to the bath and basically fizz a little while in the water.

Packaging. Packaging wise the bath fizzer is shrink wrapped ( very well! ) in plastic. The labelling is identical in style and colours as the Drumstick Squashies Bubblegum sweets are e.g blue and pink stripes, pictures of the sweets on it, the company and sweet name/type on it etc. Clearly marked, and rightly so, are warnings not to eat this. Surprised? I’m not! It looks like a massive gobstopper!

Appearance. Rounded, and a similar size to a standard bath fizzer/bomb, slightly bigger than a tennis ball. Chalky in texture but smooth, and made up of two colours. The top half is baby blue in colour, and the bottom half baby pink. Same colouring as the actual sweets themselves.

Fragrance. I could definitely get a hint of bubble gum but it wasn’t massively strong. I could also smell the chalkiness to it. It was ok but I didn’t love it. It smelt too synthetic for me and needed to be stronger and more fragrant.

In the bath. It was fun watching this in the bath. Under warm running water this bobbed and fizzed about. What I really liked was seeing two trails of colour coming from the bath fizzer, one being the blue from the top and the pink from the bottom. The colours didn’t remain separate for long because as they merged they turned into a shade of purple. Once the bath had been filled the fizzer had gone to fizz heaven and totally disappeared. No foam, no residue, just a purple coloured bath was left.

On the skin. I had no issues with this while I was in the bath but when I got out I did feel as if my skin was a touch dry. But I’ve been experiencing this with another bath product so I suspect this is down to my skin being awkward rather than the fizzer itself.

Confession. I found the bath lacked something for me, so I added a few squirts of Carex Drumsticks Squashies bath and shower gel in the scent of raspberry & milk. This pimped up my bath to a better level and I liked it! Firstly I got bubbles which I desperately wanted! Secondly, the fragrance was more noticeable and smelt like a freshly opened sweet packet! Raspberry and bubble gum gave an almost grape soda scent to this and it was a winner!

Recommended? If you like your bath fizzers that give you a little scent and colour to your bath then yes buy this! Its fun in regards to packaging and what its based on and is cheap. It’s also brilliant to mix the sweets inspired shower and bath gels if you want to add a another dimension to it. For me though, I wouldn’t buy this again for myself. I go for bath bombs that produce foam, colour and fragrance and more hydrating to the skin and this isn’t. But I can see this being liked by children, teens and those who love affordable bath time treats.
