  • Aldi’s Lacura Spa Foaming Bath Soak & Luxury Bath Float

We all have our weaknesses in life, but I fall hook, line and sinker for products designed to go into the bath. It’s my happy place! I read a book, scroll through my phone, sit back and relax. So having good and enjoyable products to use during this time is an essential part of my life. So imagine when I found out that Aldi’s Lacura range had brought out new bath products. Less than 24hrs later I roamed the aisles to find and purchase their Foaming Bath Soak and Luxury Bath Float. Both £1.79 and both 500ml.

Aldi’s Lacura Spa Foaming Bath Soak and Luxury Bath Float

    Why did I buy these?

I saw these products on social media and of course with them being new and for the bath, my interest had peaked. But I couldn’t help noticing the packaging, how they looked and comments made about these being dupes of a particular brand. A brand available on the high street and one I have used before….

What are the differences between the Bath Soak and the Bath Float?

The Bath Soak look wise makes me think of a bath milk or bath cream . It’s creamy in colour, opaque with a decent thickness to it. But a touch more runnier than a traditional foaming bath. The Bath Float is quite golden in colour, transparent, same consistency as the Bath Soak. The ingredients are slightly different too so not identical and possibly have different benefits or trying to create different benefits per product.

    Packaging.

Both the bath soak and bath float are packaged in the same tall cylinder shaped plastic bottles. Bottles are clear with soft gold coloured screw top lids. The labels on the front have random patterns on them, almost free style loose swirls coloured the same as the lids. With each label appearing to be almost frosted in effect rather than totally transparent.

    Fragrance.

Both products are identical in fragrance. They smell beautiful! This is definitely floral based but probably more so on the oriental floral side. There’s depth to this, it’s quite warming thanks to having some slightly woody, musky notes to it. Possibly a hint of citrus in this? It has an almost zesty quality to it that’s faint in the background. But all elements are very well balanced It has quite a fresh feel to it, very relaxing with feminine charm to it but fragrance that would appeal to anyone.

    In the bath.

Under warm running water, both of these foamed up quickly and well. Created was plenty of white fluffy bubbles while the water underneath remained clear. The foam was present for ages which was nice to see. The fragrance was there, obvious, and I thoroughly enjoyed.

These didn’t dry out my skin, no irritation and mixes beautifully with anything vanilla based. I know this because I couldn’t help but add some of my Vanilla fragranced Body Shop bath product in as a form of mixology!

Any difference between the Bath Soak and Bath Float in the bath or on the skin?

No difference! I expected the Bath Soak to provide a more luxurious bath, even a touch on the milky side. I also thought it would be more moisturising on the skin. But in all honesty, unless I was half asleep, these were both the same. Same scent, same foam, same coloured water and same effect on the skin.

    What are these dupes of?

The Sanctuary Spa range. The design of the labels from the colouring and patterns on it as you can see below are very similar. Even the colouring of the product itself. But it’s the smell that does it for me. Does it smell the same? Let’s put it this way, if there is a difference in scent between the two it’s small! Incredibly similar and the Lacura version fragrance way is of a fantastic quality 100%!

    Sanctuary Spa VS Lacura Spa

    Could these be improved?

I would have liked two different bathing experiences from these products. The Bath Soak I think should have been more hydrating on the skin. And would have been great if it was more of a bath milk. But for the price and the amount you get I won’t complain!

    Recommended?

For £1.79 you get 500ml of a foaming bath product. They smell great, both created foam which lasted a good amount of time and packaging wise these are easy on the eye. So of course I would recommend this! If you are someone who likes the scent of the Sanctuary Spa range then you will like this of course because of it’s similarities. If on a budget these would make great gifts or good for the family to use on a daily basis. What they need to do next is create a home fragrance range connected o these products and they will get even more money from me!

Available instore dependant on availability of stock. I expected these to be in the middle aisles but found them in the same sections for the normal, everyday bath and body products. So if you can’t find them under Special Buys, look for them there.

  • The Bath Bae’s Watermelon Bubblegum Bath Soak

A lover of having baths, an addict when it comes to a good bath product! The range of products you can get to pop in the bath is vast! You can get these from pretty much anywhere and any shop, store or supermarket you walk into these days. What you can also do, is go online. There’s plenty of small businesses that sell, handmake and package their very own bath bombs, fizzers, bath rocks and more. As you can imagine I have an extensive bath product stash, which is always a pleasure to delve into. A few evenings ago I headed straight for The Bath Bae’s Watermelon Bubblegum Bath Soak. Bought many months ago, £4.99 for 200g.

The Bath Bae’s Watermelon Bubblegum Bath Soak

    Why did I buy this?

Watermelon and bubblegum? Who on earth has ever come up with such an amazing sounding combination except for The Bath Bae? This juicy, mouth dribbling combination caught my eye immediately on their website when ordering, because it sounded delicious and unusual! Why would I NOT buy and use it?

    What’s a bath soak?

The Bath Bae’s Bath Soaks are basically powdered bath bombs. Not shaped, just pure, unadulterated bath bomb dust! So they do exactly the same thing as a bath bomb. Within each bag of 200g of bath soak, it’s the same as having two bath bombs.

    Packaging.

I love how this company packages their bath products. The bath dust is housed in a packet. On the front it’s clear so you can see whatever bath gem is in it. Company logo on card folded over the top of the packet, and a sticker mentioning product is vegan & cruelty free is visible. On the back it’s opaque and silver in colour, almost holographic in look. To open, rip the top of the packet open and reseal when not in use. This looks quite modern but has a retro twist to it. Eye catching and appealing, perfect for gift giving.

How does the bath soak look?

A fine, powdered mix of baby pink and mint green colours. Not mixed together in it’s packaging. You can see the green on the bottom and the pink on the top. Colours that represent the two fragrances perfectly, and although shouldn’t, work well together look wise.

    Fragrance.

In real life, it’s quite a refreshing, subtly scented fruit. Almost similar to red berries that’s been infused in water. This is what I get with this, but of course with the sweet notes of bubblegum added. It’s a lovely scent, great for those who like sweet inspired scents mixed in with fruity elements, without it being overloaded by sugar fragrance wise.

    In the bath.

Rather than use the whole bag at once, I used half on one occasion and the rest another. First time I got a mix of the pink and green bath soak and as soon as it hit the water the colour and fragrance was there. The colours were pink and green twisting and turning into each other, while at the same time white foam was created as it fizzed.

My second bath with this consisted mostly of the green section of the bath soak, as that’s the bit that was at the bottom of the packaging. The bath turned into the most stunning sea moss green ever! A totally different shade to when I first used this, and a different shade of green to what was in the packet. A total chameleon and a VERY hard bath product to photograph as each photo taken showed a different shade of green! Like the first bath, a little foam was produced. Not loads, but more than what I thought and both times it took a little while to disappear which was great. So not only was their colour and fragrance, but bubbles too!

    Recommended?

Yes! And for a few reasons. You might not think the amount you get is a lot but it’s the right amount for one full on bath treat or two, so good value. The colouring and scent is very unusual, and if like me looking for something different, this could be it! It creates a beautiful looking bath, which not only scented my bathroom nicely but my hallway too! So the question should be, why would I NOT recommend this?

  • Superdrug’s Vitamin E Coconut Milk Moisturising Bath Soak

Are you a shower or bath person? A shower for me is an act, a bath is an experience! If my bath was poofed away in the middle of the night, I think I would have some form of breakdown! I couldn’t live without mine as I have a bath everyday. Think of a mermaid yanked out of the sea and thrown onto the concrete streets of Manchester city centre. That would be me! My huge stash of bath bombs, bath salts and foaming bath products just wouldn’t exist and that’s not right. One product I’ve been using frequently while the weather has been warm in the UK is Superdrug’s Vitamin E Coconut Milk Moisturising Bath Soak. Bought when on a multi buy deal of buy one get one half price, normal price £3.49 for 500ml.

Superdrug’s Vitamin E Coconut Milk Moisturising Bath Soak

    Why did I buy this?

At the time, I ordered quite a few pieces from the Vitamin E range from Superdrug, as there was a buy one get one half price deal on at the time making the products great buys. I ordered this because I love bath soaks/foam baths anyway, I love the scent of coconut and the size of 500ml is pretty much my standard must have size anyway so sold!

    What is this?

This bath soak is created to nourish and moisturise the skin, as all of the Vitamin E products are meant to within the range. Providing lather, and leaving the skin in good condition.

    Packaging.

500ml of bath soak comes in a neutral toned plastic bottle with a flip top lid to dispense. The look is simple, ties in perfectly with the rest of the range and looks like something you would use on a daily basis. It’s not fancy in appearance but something that the majority of people wouldn’t turn their nose up at.

    Scent.

Beautiful. Love this! Why? It’s a very soothing scent which although does have a coconut milk fragrance to it, it’s delicate and not overally synthetic in smell. Very comforting because it’s creamy, with an almost vanilla-esq addition to it, but not too sweet. Perfectly balanced and enjoyable to inhale.

    Consistency.

This looks like a cream bath product and not gel like. It’s creamy, off white in colour with a pearlescent effect appearance, and has a thickness to it. It’s a little runnier than other bath products I normally use. So definitely a bath soak not a bath gel, but closer to a bath cream. But an even better description would be a bath milk!

    In the bath.

You don’t to use much, but I’m generous when it comes to using products like this. Under warm running water, this foams up quickly and so well. Lots and lots of white fluffy bubbles were produced, leaving the underneath quite clear in colour. The bubbles/foam lasts a good amount of time, which always makes bath time fun.

The fragrance very much is there from beginning to end. Remember, this isn’t a powerhouse scent wise so doesn’t whack you in the face. It’s just not that type of fragrance. This makes it ideal if you want something that is delicate but soothing and comforting and naturally aides with relaxation.

I found bathing in this totally calming. Bubbles, fragrance and feeling as if my skin wasn’t reacting to this provides an ideal experience.

    On my skin.

Very gentle. My skin has settled down a lot after our recent heatwave and it seems pretty normal now. But I was using this while it was easily irritated, sore and itchy, and it was absolutely fine! Didn’t dry out the skin, didn’t make it itchy. Was super safe to use for me.

    Recommended?

1000%! Such a simple product but its a lovely one! For the size you get this would last a decent amount of time and great for family use. Lovely scent, bubbles galore and not stripping or irritating on the body (not for me anyway!). And can we discuss the price for one moment? The Vitamin E range seems to be on some form of promotion pretty much every week without fail. Buy one get one half price seems the norm. And this beauty is currently on a buy one get one free (at time of writing this post), so 1000lts for £3.49! Want an understated, affordable but brilliant bath soak? Grab yours here and enjoy.

  • The Body Shop’s Berry Bath Blend

Warm weather does not put me off when it comes to my evening bathing ritual. Sunny, scorching, 100 degrees outside? I don’t care! No matter what, I will be sat in my bath tub like Ariel swimming under the sea! It’s a part of my daily routine and a way to relax, regardless of feeling as if I’m being poached alive. But with it being Summer, I thought I would drag out a bath product that in my opinion reflects the season because of its fragrance. The Body Shop’s Berry Bath Blend seemed a perfect choice. £8.00 for 250ml.

The Body Shop’s Berry Bath Blend

    Why this one?

I’ve used the Banana Bath Blend and loved it. I’m a lover of fruity fragranced products anyway so why not? I have my typical bath and shower gels that I pick up from supermarkets, but then there are times I just want something a little more special, and this is that time and product!

    What’s a bath blend?

The Body Shop’s Bath Blends are fairly new products. Released within the last year or two, they are designed of course to go into the bath. Be fragrant, provide foam and nourish the skin without stripping it. Part bath cream, part bath soak.

    Packaging.

How this is presented reminds me of when my dad used to buy flavoured milk from the milk man! Although not in a glass bottle ( bath blend is in plastic), it has that old time milk bottle shape but with a screw top lid. Clear, so you can see the colour of the blend. The labeling matches the color of the blend itself. Very appealing and almost drinkable!

    Fragrance.

Very berry! Strawberry to be more specific! But there’s a little sharpness to the sweetness of this. Also, some creaminess which makes it more balanced and rounder making it delicious in scent. I really want to drink this, as I did with the banana version, but better not!

    Look & Consistency.

This is a lovely berry reddish pink colour. Totally opaque. The consistency is very unusual because it’s not a gel or a cream. Like it’s banana fragranced counterpart it reminds me of a milk based drink. Not a thick milkshake, but the more fluid ones.

    In the bath.

Under warm running water, this bath blend turned the clear water into a beautiful pink coloured pool. And laying on the top of that produced a decent amount of soft, white, frothy bubbles making this bath very appealing. The fragrance was there and it smelt beautifully, but wished it was a little bit stronger because its so mouth watering and enjoyable to smell.

The bath itself was relaxing. The bubbles lasted a good amount of time and when they left, the bath water stayed pink but more cloudy. On the skin I had no issues, and it didn’t dry out my skin afterwards.

    Recommended?

I like this bath blend. But between this and the banana version I’ve used before, the banana wins. Why? It’s more of an unusual fragrance compared to something berry based which is more common in bath products where scent is concerned. It’s a lovely product. Not something I would buy regularly due to price and size but a rare purchase. I would recommend this in a set form to get the best possible price, or if it’s on sale so discounted. But as a regular repeat purchase on it’s own probably not but depends on your budget. As a treat to yourself or for someone else? Absolutely!

If this fruity cocktail is making you thirsty to buy it, you can grab it in person at you local Body Shop store or online here and safe your legs the hassle of walking.
