  • Holler & Glow’s Luck Crystal Soap

Superdrug. Sometimes I feel like the store Superdrug is slept on. It sells so many different health, fragrance, skin, hair and body care products you’re spoilt for choice. Not to mention their own branded ranges! One brand I discovered while in Superdrug is Holler & Glow. Their products include body mists, masks, bath bombs and soaps. I bought Luck Crystal Soap a few months ago when there was a 3 for 2 promotion. So what was it like?

Holler & Glow’s Luck Crystal Soap
    How does this look?

This 50g soap is made to look like a semi precious stone. Crystal like in shape, straight edges with various shades of brown colouring giving it depth. And gold streaks running through it making it look like a naturally formed stone. Size wise it’s around 3 inches in length and 2 inches in width at its widest part. Small but perfectly formed. This is very striking in appearance, very appealing and totally different to anything else sat on a shelf in a store.

    Fragrance

There’s a subtle lemongrass scent to it. Sweet, lightly citrusy, quite clean in smell and not strong. Holler & Glow’s Luck Crystal Soap would provide a pleasant aroma for any person, age or sex.

    In the shower

This foamed up beautifully on a sponge under a warm running shower. It cleaned my body very well without drying my skin out and caused no irritation. The scent coming from this soap was very delicate but there while in use, and made using this easy and pleasant.

I got the smallest hint of this on my skin once out of the shower but it was barely there, which was absolutely fine with me! I didn’t want it’s scent to clash with the body lotion I was going to use straight after. So perfect for those who don’t want to wash with a heavily fragranced product.

    Recommended?

Although this isn’t the biggest soap in the world, visually, this is an absolute stunner! Nicely presented products mean you WANT to use them and use this I did. The shape made this soap easy and quick to use, it cleaned my skin well and was fragranced delicately and perfectly. Holler & Glow’s Luck Soap is a great product t use in the shower and the bath and definitely recommended!

  • Treacle Moon’s Marshmallow Hearts Shower & Bath Gel

The great thing about shopping in a supermarket is you literally can pick up anything. It’s the perfect place to grab your daily essentials, like bath and shower products. In 2019, I started to use products from a company called Treacle Moon, which became a very handy discovery when I found their products on a shelf in my local Tesco. On of the purchases I tried out was Marshmallow Hearts Shower & Bath Gel. It was £3.00 but was on a half price promotion for £1.50.

    Why did I buy this?

I never tried Treacle Moon products before until I received them as gifts for my birthday and Christmas. I really enjoying using them. So I opted to purchase Marshmallow Hearts because I really wanted a product to use in both the shower and bath. Plus I had a feeling I would love how this smelt so fragrance side appealed to me.

Treacle Moon’s Marshmallow Hearts Shower & Bath Gel
    Packaging

500ml of shower and bath gel lives in a plastic bottle with a flip top lid. It’s clear, labeling is super cute with an illustration of a jar of heart shaped marshmallows on it. Plus there’s a paragraph giving you an imaginative description of what the scent of this gel is like.

    Look & Consistency

Although this is a gel it isn’t the typical gel you would think of. This is pale pink in colour, not transparent, so makes me think this is more like a bath or shower cream. Consistency is a thick liquid, which is what you would expect from this type of product.

    Fragrance

The fragrance of Treacle Moon’s Marshmallow Hearts is creamy and sweetie like. A mix of marshmallows, milk bottle sweets with a hint of strawberry milkshake and this is the best way I can describe how this smells to me. This could easily be too sweet and synthetic like in scent but it isn’t. It gives you enough sweetness to keep your nostrils happy but not so much you think you will suffer from diabetes!

    In the shower & bath

I use this product in both shower and bath equally. In the shower on a sponge it lathered up quickly and produced a lot of foam. In the bath I needed very little and the amount of foam produced by two squirts under warm running water was insane! Full, light, airy, white in colour and long lasting.

    On the skin

This cleaned the skin on my body well, left a faint scent to it but not long lasting so no lingering. My skin felt and looked normal after use e.g skin didn’t dried out, irritated, sticky etc.

    Recommended?

Yes! What I love about this is it’s a little different in look packaging wise compared to similar products on the same shelf, which makes it stand out. In regards to the scent, these types of scents are popular but this is a great version and will hold its own compared to others. I really enjoyed using this. It provided a quick, easy and effective shower in the morning and a relaxing, soothing bath in the evening.

This is great for all the family to use as the scent will appeal from the youngest member of the household to the oldest. When I bought this originally it was half price ( £1.50 ), but worthwhile checking special offers as they regularly crop up (Tesco and Waitrose stock Treacle Moon).

If you can’t head down to your local store you can buy their products direct from Treacle Moon themselves here. Go on treat yourself…its affordable!x

  • Exfoliating Baby Powder Sugar Scrub By Tranquility Cosmetics

There are certain products that people use religiously and some not so much. As much as I love a good body scrub, since they’re not for everyday use, I forget to use one. But when I finally remember, I don’t understand why I haven’t been using one twice a week! I’ve been using a sugar based scrub in the fragrance of Baby Powder, from a Manchester based company called Tranquility Cosmetics. This cost £3.50 for 200ml.

    Packaging

200ml of scrub sits in a plastic tub with a screw top lid. Simple labeling with all relevant information on it such as product name, scent, ingredients etc.

Tranquility Cosmetics Baby Powder Type Sugar Scrub
    Consistency & Texture

This is similar to the look and feel of caster sugar. It’s soft when you touch it, the grains don’t look big or feel very rough. But you can see it’s made up of the smallest sized crystal like grains ever. If you rub it between your fingers it feels very very fine. This is dry textured and not oil based.

    Fragrance

When you think of a baby powder type scent you think of something which is clean, fresh and comforting, which you get from this. This is very similar to that well known scent but not as heady and strong.

    On the skin

I used this sugar scrub while I was in the bath. The amount I used was a palm full of and rubbed it onto the whole of my body. I could feel the grains, and with my body at this point being damp, these grains glided over the skin and I could feel the exfoliating action. The sugar scrub didn’t feel harsh, but rough enough to give the feel of exfoliation. What I liked about this scrub is after awhile the majority of this dissolved. My skin was left feeling almost moisturised but not greasy or oily.

I have to say my skin felt so soft and smooth after I dried myself off. Baby Powder Sugar Scrub was so enjoyable and effective on the skin. You don’t need to use much, it’s not particularly messy and dissolves. No slippery skin and no oily bath left for me to rinse out which is always a bonus.

    Recommended?

Yes! It does exactly what its supposed to do which is leave skin feeling silky smooth. On top of that it smells great and enjoyable to use. Definitely on my repurchase list as I would LOVE to try out another fragrance in the same product. Definitely a winner! Head over to the Tranquility website here now.

  • Druid & The Witch’s A little Bit Of Magic Bath & Shower Whip

Having a shower doesn’t mean you have to use a shower gel or a bar of soap. The body care industry consists of so many products it’s insane! If I look into my bath and shower stash there are soaps, shower gels, scrubs, soap sponges and even shower whips. Last year I purchased a specially priced box of bath and shower goodies from a small business called Druid & The Witch. One of the first products I tried was their bath & shower whip called A little Bit of Magic.

    What’s a whipped soap?

A whipped soap is literally what the name suggests. Its not a solid bar of soap or a liquid soap, it’s a soap that tends to be of a similar consistency to thickly whipped cream. You use it the same way you would use a more traditional form of soap to clean the body in either the bath or shower.

    Packaging

100g of whipped soap is housed in a clear lidded tub and labelled. It’s nothing sophisticated, in fact it’s incredibly basic. But it does the job and has a handmade and packaged sort of look to the product.

    How does it look?

A massive reason why I love whipped soaps is how they look. This whipped soap is mid purple in colour. It literally looks like someone has piped buttercream into a tub because of the shape its made into. This really does look edible and totally inviting.

Druid & The Witch A Little Bit of Magic Bath & Shower Whip
    Fragrance

It’s predominately a citrus scent, but sweet rather than zesty. Scent wise this isn’t far off from resembling a juicy, ripe peach so quite mouth watering. Fresh and almost sweetie like but not in a synthetic way.

    In the shower

I’ve only used this in the shower and not in the bath. For my whole body I could’ve used a tablespoon sized amount, but I’m greedy and used more. When I took this out, I found the texture of A little Bit Of Magic Bath & Shower Whip semi solid. Think of a body butter but a little denser and you will get an idea on how this is textured. On a sponge and under a warm, flowing shower, this lathered up beautifully and the foam was creamy, white, soft and a joy to be covered in. It cleaned my body perfectly and left my skin with it’s faint fruity fragrance. Skin after shower was clean, soft, not dry and ready to receive any other products I wanted to put onto it. And as a psoriasis sufferer no irritation, and I wasn’t desperate to follow up with a body lotion or cream.

    Recommended?

I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for a great quality whipped soap and I’ve found one! This is GORGEOUS! It looks amazing, it smells divine and my skin loved it so much I can’t wait to try the other scents.
