  • New Product Alert! Glow’s Bath Oil

One of the best purchases I’ve made in 2023 was subscription boxes. A monthly box with a new theme, containing a variety of different products at an affordable price. The only subscription boxes I purchased last year was from small business Glow. Why? They delivered what I needed on a home fragrance, bath, body and skincare level so I didn’t need to look anywhere else. I’ve been delving into their New Year New You January Subscription Box and have started to use the Bath Oil that was included. So what is it like?

    Glow’s Bath Oil
    Why did I use this?

I need pampering! This colder season is making me feel tired and my skin dry. Rather than opting for a traditional bath soak or gel, I wanted to try this to see if it would be uplifting mentally and soothing on the skin physically.

What does this supposed to do?

Glow’s Bath Oil is designed to moisturise the skin while in the bath and not dry out skin while out of the bath. The fragrance is there to help with relaxation so overall this product should give an everyday/evening pampering experience.

    Packaging

Glow’s Bath Oil comes in a small, plastic opaque bottle with a screw top lid. This is also boxed, so a great product to gift a bath lover.

    Fragrance & Consistency

How this smells reminds me of a drink I have every morning, which consists of lemon juice, cinnamon and honey. This is incredibly similar in scent because it’s spicy and warming, has a citrus element to it and is slightly sweet. Not an overpowering mix of scents but noticeable and incredibly comforting. The consistency of this bath oil is what you would expect which is oil like, liquid and reasonably thin.

    In the bath

I used half of the bottle under warm running water. It didn’t colour the water but it did make it slightly cloudy. No bubbles, just the smallest amount of foam. The fragrance I enjoyed because I found it wasn’t heady but strong enough to ‘be there’. It made me feel very cosy and relaxed in the bath and I found it very easy to unwind. The bath oil didn’t feel greasy on my skin but it did make my skin feel like there was a layer of something on it. It also clung onto the driest parts of my body which included my feet. I thought the oil in the water was going to be quite oily, but it mixed in really well and was quite light weight but it was obviously in it.

Just to note this didn’t make the bath particularly slippy and was very easy to clean the bath afterwards.

    On my skin

When I got out of the bath I could feel the oil on my skin because it already felt moisturised without even applying a moisturiser! Not greasy, not sticky, not uncomfortable on the skin just very natural and hydrating. I gently patted my skin dry because I wanted as much of this oil on my skin as possible and placed my usual body moisturiser on top.

    Recommended?

I loved using Glow’s Bath Oil. I waited to use this deliberately when I wasn’t in a rush and I wanted to give myself some relaxing, pampering down time which this helped to create perfectly. This isn’t a product to jump in and out of the bath quickly, it needs to be enjoyed and enjoyed it was. Lovely fragrance, great on my skin, didn’t irritate my highly irritable skin (which is a miracle!) and moisturised it beautifully. I only wish this was available in a bigger bottle!

  • Affordable Treacle Moon’s Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts For £1.00!

It can be the simple things that make people happy. The feeling of peace and quiet shut off from the world. A few moments of pure relaxation and alone time. I’m basically describing having a bath! If you love your bath you will know having that time submerged in warm water with various lotions, potions and products in it really can be bliss. That’s why I take my bath products very, very seriously. During my last trip to high street retailer Boots I purchased not only Treacle Moon’s Frosted Candy Angel Shower & Bath Gel, but also their Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts. The bath salts cost £1.00 for 80g.

Treacle Moon’s Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts
    Why did I buy these?

I bought Treacle Moon’s bath salts a few years ago when they were available in Aldi and I thought they were great! But I hadn’t seen them since instore. When I saw these I had to purchase them! The price was still affordable and the scent from the name alone sounded perfect.

What is Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts?

These are baths salts that contain safflower and jojoba oils. You place the salts in your bath and they produce bubbles. Fragranced, foaming and vegan friendly.

    Packaging

The bath salts come in a sachet. Fun in look, colourful and you actually can smell the fragrance of the bath salts from the packaging without even opening it.

How do these bath salts look?

I expected Sweet Berry Kisses to be pink or purple in colour because of their fragrance but it wasn’t. What I got was not typical bath salts in structure, but quite a fine powder with a few irregular sized pieces in it and the odd glisten of tiny crystal shapes. The actual colour? Brown! Not much different to hot chocolate powder that you just add water to it. Not massively appealing but was a big surprise.

    Fragrance

A mix of slightly zesty but sweetened orange with ripe berries. An absolutely stunning scent and quite unusual as I don’t think I’ve smelt anything similar before in a bath product.

    In the bath

Under warm running water, these bath salts immediately created soft, fluffy foam. It also turned the water from clear to a light pink colour which I didn’t expect because of the actual colour of the salts. The fragrance was there but light which suited me perfectly because a heady scent was not what I needed at the time. The foam/bubbles created wasn’t a massive amount but enough to cover the surface of the bath. They lasted a decent amount of time too which always helps.

In the bath I enjoyed it. As mentioned the fragrance was the right strength for me at the time (I had the mother of headaches), I spent 20 minutes in there and felt my time was well spent.

I did worry once out if my skin would react to it. Since the temperature and humidity in the UK has risen, my skin hasn’t liked it. A few small areas of skin have been itchy, sore and easily irritated. These bath salts didn’t cause any issues at all and were actually quite gentle on my skin overall and didn’t dry it out either.

    Recommended?

Although this could be thought of as not the most economical because it’s only designed for one bath, I think it’s great. Perfect to add in a gift for someone, ideal to take away when travelling. And of course to just use at home when the mood takes you is a given. So I love the idea of this one bath serving sachet as it’s convenient with zero waste! Fragrance is stunning, creates foam, non drying or irritating to the skin and produces a lovely relaxing bath for £1.00. What more do you need? Totally recommended!

Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts can be found in a few selected stores such as Boots, Waitrose and direct from Treacle Moon themselves.

  • Lush’s Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb

LUSH. I don’t think there are many people that have never heard of this store. They sell a wide range of bath and body products, but probably are best known for their bath bombs. I don’t buy from them regularly despite being a massive fan of living in the bath. These days there is such a wide variety of bath products and brands out there this isn’t my go-to if I’m honest. But I had an urge to go into the store last week. I caved and decided to treat myself to a Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb which cost £3.50.

    Lush’s Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb
    Why did I buy this?

It looked cute, smelt great and is one of the more affordable bath bombs available from LUSH. If money was no object, I could go crazy in the store, but I wasn’t going to do that because this woman is trying to be on a budget!

    What does this look like?

Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb is shaped as a bear which is laying down on its stomach. It’s simple in shape and off white in colour. But on the top of its back, there are lavender pieces imbedded into it. This makes a very plain looking bath bomb look just that little bit more special.

    Fragrance

I don’t mind lavender, but I hate it in its pure, traditional scent. It can be strong and old fashioned. Mixed with the right elements though it can be nice. And nice this is. This bath bomb smells of lavender but it’s more sweet and less herbal/aromatherapy like. It still has a relaxation feel to it but it’s softer and more pretty in scent. I adore it!

    In the bath

This was placed on an already warm, run bath. As soon as it hit the water it fizzed and hissed. Rather than the water turning into a different colour, it became cloudy almost milk bath like. The lavender pieces floated around in the bath as the bath bomb got smaller and smaller and eventually disappeared. There was no bath art, no explosion of colour. When Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb disappeared, it left behind what looked like a bath soak. No bubbles, no colour, no foam. And I still couldn’t wait to dive into this!

The fragrance from this was incredible! It was so soothing, relaxing and strong enough for me to be able to smell this from start to finish and I loved it! It was the perfect strength and the ideal scent to experience if you’re looking to unwind.

I enjoyed this bath so much. I was sad to get out of it. It may not have been filled with colour and foam, but it was gentle enough on my skin, provided beautiful fragrance and totally relaxed me from head to toe. I also thought the lavender pieces were just the right amount. They gave decoration to the bath bomb and also the scent of lavender. There was no massive clean-up in the bathtub, and I didn’t feel overwhelmed with bits in the bath.

    Recommended?

YES! If I’m honest I didn’t think I would enjoy this as much as I did but I did. It’s not a traditional bath bomb as I’ve already mentioned. But it doesn’t make it any less special. It’s easy on the eye, has a fabulous scent and gave me one of the best chilled out baths I’ve had in a long time. Total winner and I WIL be getting a few more of these! Grab yours in store or online here for a relaxing treat for yourself or for someone else.

  • The Bath Bae’s Birthday Cake Bath Sparkle

Starting my New Year as I mean to go which is in the bath relaxing! Giving myself much needed me time and a little bit of pampering is a must. It doesn’t take much to create my own little haven and it’s something I refuse to give up or compromise on because I deserve it! And as much as I SHOULD spend less on bath and body products in 2021, I doubt I will because I love them way too much. 2021 in my bathroom kicked off with using The Bath Bae’s Birthday Cake Bath Sparkle. I bought this many months ago when they had a sale, but it’s usual price is £5.99 for 200g.

The Bath Bae Birthday Cake Bath Sparkle

Why this one? I originally bought products from The Bath Bae because I love using bath bombs, but wanted to try something different but still get the same results. As a company they produce interesting, modern and fun bath time treats which are eye catching. This particular one I wanted to use because I enjoyed their Bath Cubes I used last year, and wanted to see if this was just as good.

What is a Bath Sparkle? A Bath Sparkle is designed to create foam, scent and also provide a little sparkle to your bath. Closest comparison I can make is with a bath dust.

Packaging. Love the packaging! The Bath Sparkle is filled to the brim in a resealable packet. Rip the top, open, use and reseal when not in use. The packet itself has an almost holographic look to it which I thought was opaque. But after using some of the Bath Sparkle I could see how much was left inside it. Simple but cute.

Appearance. I find myself fascinated by textures and consistencies of products in bath and body products. This bath sparkle looks like a very fine powder. Consistently fine, no lumps or clumps. Almost like a sieved flour. But colour wise not so boring. This is a gorgeous shade of green which I can only describe as being a sea green. Very easy on the eye and very inviting.

Scent. What I expected was something that smelt very typical of a sponge cake. Vanilla based, a predictable bakery scent and sugary sweet. This isn’t quite like that. Definitely sweet but almost confectionary like. There is some vanilla in there but this to me is more fruity than cake sweet.

How to use. Add half or all of the bath sparkle in to a warm bath and enjoy.

In the bath. Thrown under warm running water this immediately made the water very tropical, lagoon like. The colour created was so vibrant and stunning! Lots of white, soft foam was produced so not only did I get colour and foam, but also scent as well! The scent was delicate, not heady and exactly what I smelt when I first opened the packet.

I found this to be very gentle and non drying. In the bath the water ( this sounds strange to explain but if you know you know ) felt as if it had more slip to it, and the dry areas of my body e. g hands, feet, elbows, seemed a little more protected. And out of the bath my skin seemed to enjoy it and didn’t feel like a 5 year old raisin.

Did it sparkle? So this puzzled me a little. Looking at it before I used it I couldn’t see anything. Even in the bath, not really. But when I touched some of it that had floated to the top and stuck to the foam, when I rubbed it in between my fingertips I could see it glisten! A subtle, gold shimmer was visible and was left at the bottom of the bath tub which my daughter approved of. I couldn’t see the shimmer on my skin after I got out of the bath but I could smell the fragrance.

Recommended? I think this product is great so its a yes from me! The colour, scent, foam…all these elements just aided to an enjoyable bathing experience. Could there have been more sparkle? Well there is ALWAYS room for more sparkle! But sometimes someone doesn’t want to look like an extra from the James Bond film Gold Finger! Or want to scrub their bath tub to an inch of its life. If you like bath bombs or similar products such as fizzers or dusts, you will like this. Like sweet scents? You will like this. And this is actually very affordable because if you use only half its less than £3.00 per use, which costs less than well known branded bath bombs on the market.
