  • A Hidden Range in Superdrug Featuring Beauty Laundrette’s EDT

Subconsciously I think I’m having a beauty clear out. Rather than letting my beauty purchases pile up and multiply in a cupboard I’m actually using stuff! One type of product I’m using up is fragrances. I have lots and lots of body mists, sprays and a few eau de toilettes floating around. Dependant on the time, day and my mood, I will gravitate towards at least one. One eau de toilette I’ve been using for the last few days has been from a range I don’t online a lot is Beauty Laundrette. Originally bought from Superdrug when on sale. Originally priced at £8.00, I purchased this for £4.00 containing 95ml.

    Beauty Laundrette’s EDT
    Why did I buy this?

It was a range from Superdrug that was new to me, the packaging looked fun and I wanted to try as many products from the range as possible. Their products were regularly on a special price promotion, and that was the perfect time to try out sheet masks, body lotion, bath fizzers and this fragrance at an affordable price.

    Packaging

This comes in a chunky, rectangular shaped glass bottle with a spray top which is lidded. The bottle itself is plain, void of any detail and because of this has quite a masculine and slightly cheap appearance to it. The bottle did come with a red foam covering which is very tactile and interesting to look at. But the overall appearance of this fragrance doesn’t quite match up with the look of other items in the range in my opinion.

    How does this smell?

This is quite a clean and fresh fragrance. I get florals in this but more so white florals, even blossom, which are less heavy and possibly less old fashioned compared to something like rose. Feminine and slightly uplifting. It’s a pleasant scent, it’s not strong and would suit anyone of any age who chose to wear this. Probably more of a daytime fragrance and would make an ideal scent to use during Spring.

    Strength & Longevity

When applied, the strength of this comes across as a medium because it’s not strong but not weak either. But I find I apply quite a lot of this per application, and even then it’s not particularly punchy. Longevity I think could be better. I’ve had to apply this many times to get my wanted fragrance hit in that moment. Both strength and longevity needs to be turned up a notch to make this fragrance stand out more.

    Recommended?

I like the scent of this fragrance. But what I was hoping for, because it’s not a body mist and it’s an eau de toilette, is for this to be stronger and quite long lasting. White floral based fragrances I find aren’t the heaviest of scents but I expected more from this. Why? I’ve used the body mist version of this and they are identical in scent and hardly any difference in strength. Packaging could be better too. The bottle without the sleeve lacks the same imagination as other products in the range which is disappointing. But would I recommend this? Get the body mist instead. There’s no real difference except how the mist is packaged which is prettier and easier on the eye.

I’m not too sure whether Superdrug is still selling this fragrance because I can’t find it on the site. But it’s worthwhile keeping an eye out for it instore. But I would still go for the mist!

  • Beauty Laundrette’s Soft Soak Bath Milk Powder

Is there a job out there where you can get paid to sit in a bath with lovely, smelling bath products? If there is, put me down for 40hrs and sign me up! That literally would be my dream job because I adore a good bath. I’ve probably used the majority of bath product types on the market twice over over the years. But there is one I hadn’t used but somehow it was in my possession for months! I bought Beauty Laundrette’s Soft Soak Moisturising Bath Milk Powder last year from Superdrug for £1.99.

Beauty Laundrette’s Moisturising Bath Milk Powder
    Why did I buy this?

At the time I bought quite a few products from this range online from Superdrug. It was a range I had never tried before and I wanted to see what it was like. But this particular one grabbed my attention (and credit card) because of what it was. A bath milk powder! Doesn’t that already sound amazing, relaxing and total luxury? THAT’S why I bought it!

    What is this?

This bath milk powder is suitable for all skin types, and is designed to create a milky bath soak which is floral in scent, provide relaxation and contains soothing and caring ingredients to the skin such as oat kernel flour.

    Packaging

There are 6 sachets of bath milk powder providing 6 baths. Each come in a long, thin sachet. Baby blue in colour with a slightly psychedelic looking ‘Soft Soak’ lettering on it. Instructions are on the back. These sachets are housed in a cardboard box with the colouring, design and overall look identical to the sachets. I love the packaging of these bath milk powders. I would say there’s something fun and quite youthful about how this looks. It would be appealing to most people in my opinion, not just the younger age range.

    The Bath Milk Powder

Before I opened one of the sachets I just assumed this would be a white powder, but it’s more oaty in colour, a soft kind of beige. Thinking about it, it does reflect one of it’s ingredients, which is the oat kernel flour. It is a powder. Not totally smooth as if sieved and light and airy, but more like a fine crumble, with some bits of it finer than others with the occasional lump and bump present.

This didn’t have a noticeable fragrance to it. It reminded me of sniffing a bath bomb when you get that chalkiness in the nostrils. There is a little sweetness in there but it isn’t particularly clear what the smell was when I initially opened it.

    How to use

Under warm running water, pour one sachet into bath.

    In the bath

I used one sachet under warm running water, and was surprised that there was some bubbles being created. In my mind I didn’t expect this to foam but it was a nice surprise. There wasn’t a colour change to the water, it just looked a little less clear and a touch murky. What I was hoping for was a fragrance to hit me in the face while this bath ran, but it didn’t. Again, like when I opened the packet, there wasn’t a strong enough scent for me to describe. There was something incredibly light there but non descriptive.

While sat in the bath I genuinely couldn’t say this product helped with relaxation. I was reading and quite chilled anyway, but this bath milk I didn’t feel added anything to how I felt. My skin was comfortable, but I didn’t think to myself ‘wow, I’m really enjoying this bath!’ I also found the bubbles that initially were created disappeared soon after, leaving the bath water as bath water.

In and out of the bath my skin felt normal. I was hoping for something moisturising but I didn’t feel my skin gained anything from using this. But it also didn’t suffer in anyway either.

It’s important to mention first I think this product has been discontinued or at least isn’t sold on the Superdrug website anymore. I can only assume it’s not in store either, but can’t be sure unless I physically look. So when I talk about recommendation, bare this in mind.

So let’s start off with the good points. Packaging is great! Ideal to give as a gift and I love the fact there are 6 baths you can get of this box, with each in it’s own sachet. Much easier not to overuse if in a jar or bottle. And this being in powder form is different and interesting. The price I paid was cheap, so I wasn’t spending a small fortune on it.

Now to the not so good points. I expected this to be relaxing and luxurious and it wasn’t anything special. Fragrance was barely there, bubbles didn’t last long and overall it didn’t add to my bath time experience.

I totally appreciate the fact this was less than £2.00. But I’ve had bath gels and soaks costing less than this and they did a better job. So how could this be better? More fragrant, creamier bath (if it’s called a bath milk powder I’m thinking Cleopatra!), more moisturising. Bubbles could leave or stay that didn’t bother me. But the bath itself would need to scream a fabulous soak which, unfortunately, this didn’t. The idea of this is brilliant, but if I could I wouldn’t repeat purchase this myself. My 10 year old would probably like this, even some of my friends. But for me this isn’t memorable. I will continue using the other 5 sachets and that would be my experience closed on this bath product chapter.

  • Beauty Laundrette’s Detox Dip Bath Fizzer

Having a bath, a proper bath, is an experience. And one in my opinion that should last at least 30 minutes. Anything less than that is a waste of time and product. Surely a person deserves half an hour to themselves to relax? So you will never hear me utter an apology of how long I’m in the bath for or how many bath bombs, fizzers, scoops or foaming baths I own. I thought it was time to try out Beauty Launderette’s Detox Dip Bath Fizzer bought from Superdrug, that’s been hiding away in my stash for way too long. Normal price is £4.00, I got this when it was half price for £2.00.

Beauty Laundrette’s Detox Dip Bath Fizzer

    Why did I buy this?

This was a new range for me at the time, and because it covered bath, body, fragrance and skincare, I couldn’t help but try a product from each of these areas. With this bath fizzer, I did want to see how good the quality of it was. If it was good, it could potentially be an affordable repeat purchase for the future.

    Packaging.

The Detox Dip Bath Fizzer comes in a light turquoise coloured square box. Like the rest of the range, it’s packaged in a way that’s connected with doing your laundry and this box is styled to look like a basic washing machine. Very cute and is set off thanks to lettering and details being in red. The fizzer itself you can see from a circular hole at the front, is plastic wrapped.

    How does it look?

A super soft shade of lilac with a delicate and pretty shimmer to it. Round in shape, good decent size (quite standard for bath bombs to be fair) and not too heavy. No other details. Plain but pretty.

    Fragrance.

If you’ve tried their body mist in this range it has the same scent. It’s a collection of white florals, so quite fresh, clean, a little sweet but not too much. Very pleasant and very pretty, not old fashioned at all. And not too heavy in strength.

    How to use.

As you would with any bath fizzer or bath bomb, pop this under warm running water in the bath and enjoy.

    In the bath.

Oh this little fizzer fizzed and spun around in the water as soon as it got popped in! Twisted and turned while slowly making the bath water go from clear to pink. There was the smallest and thinnest froth made but no real bubbles. But in all fairness I didn’t expect this to turn into a bubble bath anyway. This fizzer took what felt like forever to go to bath fizzer heaven and totally disappear. Once gone it left a lovely coloured bath ready for chill time.

    Bath time!

The fragrance was there immediately from when this was placed in the bath. I didn’t think it would be so strong. I expected it to be very light but it was obvious and there. In fact, it travelled from the bathroom through the hallway down to the bottom of the stairs. This was of a good strength, with longevity and thoroughly enjoyable.

Bathing in this was relaxing. The colour and the fragrance really made it for me. I can be very picky with bath bomb type products and on the whole I prefer bubbles and a very hydrating bath, but not all bath bombs or fizzers are designed to create this. So for what it was it did really well. Didn’t irritate my skin which is suffering a bit from psoriasis at the moment, and didn’t dry it out.

    Recommended?

This is a good quality bath bomb. From how it’s packaged to how it looks thumbs up. Despite it being very simple in shape and design, it still is very pretty as the shimmer makes it stand out. Fragrance is beautiful. I like it more in this fizzer than the actual body mist which is funny as it’s identical! And lastly, it’s usual price isn’t earth shatteringly expensive so great for gift giving to yourself or others. Even better when on special offer which the range regularly is. So it’s recommended from me definitely!

  • Beauty Laundrette’s Eau Yes Body Mist

I love fragrance. It creates a mood for me and a state of mind, even if it’s for a short amount of time. I COULD spend crazy amounts of money on these products but I don’t. It’s called Adult & Parenthood e.g I can’t afford it! Not regularly anyway. So more affordable alternatives such as perfume or body mists are a must! So I was very interested to see the brand Beauty Laundrette in Superdrug. A totally new line to me, which includes a variety of fragrance and body products all priced in a budget friendly way. So I bought a few pieces, including Eau Yes Body Mist. Normally priced at £5.50, I got it when it was on a half price promotion.

Beauty Laundrette’s Eu Yes Body Mist

    Why did I buy this?

A new range (at least to me) always perks my interest! The packaging on the website looked super cute, I am a massive fan of body mists and this was priced so well. Plus I have a daughter who know leaves the house smelling like a perfume counter. Which I wouldn’t appreciate if she was bathing in a £50 bottle of an eau de parfum! But a body mist? Not bothered!

    Packaging.

Very unusual this one! The whole range looks youthful, fun, feminine and has their own take on laundry products packaging. Slightly curved around the edge with a trigger top to release products. But the trigger isn’t push down as traditional fragrances are, you squeeze it. Soft pink in colour, so no mistaking this for a household item. Lettering in a metallic copper colour. Different, simple but very eye catching.

    Fragrance.

This is a very fresh and delicate scented body mist and NOT my usual type of scent I would go for. It’s floral based, but more white flowers so it has a more fresh and clean feel to it rather than it being heavy, sweet and dare I say old. It’s pretty, it’s airy and it immediately make me think of Spring and Summer time. If I’m honest, the first time I used this I wasn’t too keen. I didn’t love it, in fact I didn’t even like it. But it grew on me. And the more I used it the more I DID like it! Totally different to anything else I have in my fragrance wardrobe.

    How I use this.

It’s not something I thought about until recently, but who actually uses body mists on their body? I mean, direct contact onto the skin? I never have. But when you read the packaging (I never do, not for a fragrance!) it does say apply on the body (well this one does). I apply this onto my clothes. The idea of putting it onto my skin is a no. I wouldn’t as I don’t want my skin to be irritated (psoriasis sufferer). I don’t know whether these types of formulations would dry my skin out (contains alcohol). But if I want my skin to be fragranced I would just use a fragranced body lotion.

    Strength and longevity.

Strength is very VERY light. I found I needed to apply quite a few bursts of this to get close to the strength I wanted. The type of fragrance it is I think it suits being soft rather than full on, but personally I think it should be just a touch stronger. Longevity can only go so far if it’s already a soft fragrance. This is one of those body mists reapplying often is more likely than not.

    Would I buy this again?

For myself probably not. And only because of the strength. The scent, although not my usual type is actually quite nice and it won me over, but I like my scents to be a little more punchier on the power front

    Beauty Laundrette products

    Recommended?

I actually would, for a particular group of people….

*People that don’t like strong scents and want something that’s almost invisible.

*Someone may work in certain industries where strong scents would be a no no e.g working with food, hospitals, care homes etc.

*This maybe purchased for a child or teen, who you want to have a nice fragrance, but not one that is overpowering (well the parent doesn’t!).

So, if you like your fresh florals and scent to be light, this would tick the boxes. It does have a nice scent, an unusual and cute packaging (some people will love it some won’t) and when on offer is good value. At the time of writing this post, this body mist is on offer with a third off so grab yours here now if this ticks your fragrance boxes.
