  • B&M’s Sol de Janerio Dupe Fragrance Mists

Everywhere we go on the high street there’s a dupe of Sol de Janerio perfume/fragrance mists. Whether it’s the bottles, fragrances or names, many are trying to cash in on this popular brand and product by giving the customers a much cheaper alternative. Is this a bad thing? Clearly not, as we’re lapping up all these dupes like crazy! But I think the market is very saturated. People aren’t buying them with the same speed and energy they did when these dupes originally came out. I stumbled across more dupes of this brand in my local B&M store. What did they have to offer?

B&M’s Sol de Janerio Fragrance Mist Dupes
    Fragrances

There were three fragrances I found in B&M. Coconut, Salted Caramel Vanilla and Watermelon.

    Packaging

All three come in the same plastic spray topped bottles but are coloured differently. Salted Caramel Vanilla is orange, Watermelon is red and Coconut blue. Honestly? These body mists look very cheap. Very little thought has been put into how they look. There’s much better looking dupe body mists on the market compared to these. I don’t find these appealing to look at.

    Salted Caramel Fragrance Mist
    Price & Size

Price for these fragrance mists is £2.99. Coconut and Salted Caramel Vanilla are 150ml whereas Watermelon is 145ml. These sizes aren’t too big to carry around and hopefully should last a while if the fragrance mists are decent in strength and longevity.

    Coconut Fragrance Mist
    How do they smell?

I found find a tester or a bottle that was already opened and rather than spray it I sniffed it. Which fragrance it was I can’t remember. But I do recall it was fruity, not massively memorable but not the worst I’ve ever smelt, just ok.

    Watermelon Fragrance Mist
    First impressions?

You shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover but this is one very cheap looking book! These could be the most amazing scents known to man but I find these bottles not great to look at. Considering these are £2.99, more care and thought should have been put behind how these look. Do I want to try these out? From look alone no. Scents available limited and not interesting. I’ve seen 99p body sprays and mists look much better so quite disappointed in these. I don’t think these will be on my purchase list.

  • B & M’s Love Coconut & Vanilla Reed Diffuser

Who doesn’t love a room to smell nice? We all do. The question is, how do we want to fragrance our personal spaces? Candles, wax melts, plug ins, there’s so many to choose from. Over the last few years reed diffusers have been a product I’ve been enjoying more and more. The latest one I’ve been using is B & M’s Love Coconut & Vanilla Reed Diffuser. This was a gift from a friend but costs £1.50 for 50ml.

B&M’s Love Coconut & Vanilla Reed Diffuser and Candle
    Packaging

It’s presented very simply but very chic. The reed diffuser comes in a small glass bottle with a wooden rim around the top of it. Label is basic and this reed diffuser comes boxed. It looks great and you could and would want to give this as a gift.

    What does it come with?

Included is a small bottle containing the fragranced oil, 6 reed sticks to put into the bottle so the oil soaks into them and releases fragrance. The last thing included is a wooden rim to put around the bottle.

    Fragrance

This probably smells more floral than coconut in my opinion. There’s a slight tropical scent to it but it’s not massive. Coconut & Vanilla has a feminine, floral and powdery smell to it, almost perfume like. Do I get vanilla in this? Not particularly. This doesn’t smell how I thought it would be but it’s still really, really good and a beautiful scent.

    Strength & Performance

This is what I would call a mini reed diffuser which is better suited for small rooms or spaces. I put this in my downstairs toilet one afternoon, not thinking anything about it. The next morning as we were all rushing out of the house, I went into it and smelt what I thought was a perfume. I assumed my daughter had blitz herself with one until I realised it was the reed diffuser! The fragrance is noticeable, not strong but not weak either. Just the right strength where it smells great but not heady. I thought it did so well in such a small space. Longevity? I can’t comment on yet as it’s only been used for a few days but so far I’m very pleased.

    Issues?

The wooden rim that comes with the diffusers doesn’t screw around the top, it just sits on it clumsily which I didn’t like.

    Recommended?

The fragrance name and how it actually smells isn’t the same, but it’s still gorgeous and I adore it! I didn’t expect the diffuser to do the job so well because of the size, and dare I say I wasn’t sure about the quality, but it’s good! Packaged nicely, smells great and actually smells like a fragrance you would wear not for the home. Definitely recommended! I will be going to my local store to see what else they have in this range and if possible get a bigger version of this!

  • Autumn Scented Wax Melts From The High Street

Autumn is my favourite season in the year. The best tv shows land ready for me to be glued to my remote control. The weather is the perfect combination, normally, of sun, mildness with a a hint of crispness to it. And it’s totally acceptable to hermit and start living under a cosy blanket which is the second skin of a sofa. BLISS! Another thing I love about this season is the various home fragrances available to use that match with this time of year. So I decided to grab three wax melts from three high street retailers that screamed Autumn. And these are what I bought:

    Autumn inspired wax melts
Pacific Wax Co’s Pumpkin Spice – Asda

This wax melt cost £1.00 for 35.4g (the smallest out of the three purchased). Packaged in a protective plastic clam casing (which they all are housed in) with the wax segmented into 6 pieces. I love the label on this. It depicts the fragrance well and shouts Autumn to me.

The fragrance is spicy, warming and does have a pumpkin element to it. Not too strong or sweet and very balanced. Pumpkin scents aren’t my usual go to but this one is really nice with the spices coming through gently.

Pacific Wax Co’s Pumpkin Spice Wax Melts
    Wickford & Co’s Gingerbread – Home Bargains

This wax melt cost 79p for 88g (the cheapest out of the three purchased) which contains 8 cubes. The labelling, like Pacific Wax Co’s Pumpkin Spice, is cosy, easy on the eye and tells you what this is supposed to smell like from picture alone. When I think of THE Autumn/Winter scent it has to be Gingerbread!

This fragrance is a mix of ginger and some citrus notes to it. Warming but not spicy. This is mainly ginger for me but a bakery ginger not the spicy ginger. Great scent, just how I want a gingerbread piece of wax to smell like!

Wickford & Co’s Gingerbread Wax Melts
    Restore Sandalwood, Cedar & Cardamom – B & M

This wax melt cost £1.50 for 103.5g of wax which is the biggest in size, weight and cost of all three I bought. This is made up of 9 segments. I like the shape of this wax as it’s not square or rectangular, which gives it an interesting look. The labelling is beyond basic. No pictures, just the fragrance name. Strangely enough I’m fine with it because although this smells like an Autumn fragrance, it may be sold all year round so it can’t stand out seasonally.

Fragrance wise this comes across as quite a clean scent as it has powdery notes to it. A little woodiness comes through with the smallest hit of spice but barely there. I really like this one. Very unusual, I like the cleanness of this but could be spicier.

Restore Sandalwood, Cedar & Cardamom Wax Melts
    Overall

Three differently sized, priced and fragranced wax melts which all tick the Autumn box! It’s nice to have three wax melts that smell differently but all give off a cosy feel in different ways. I can only assume all three are widely available from these stores and which ever one you chose won’t break the bank, and should provide a good number of hours of fragrance.
