  • What’s New In Aldi For Skincare?

Aldi’s own brand Lacura gets a lot of attention, and rightly so. They bring out products that are interesting, exciting and sometimes dupes of well known brands, but all at affordable prices. Every time I go into my local store I always check to see what’s new and my last trip didn’t fail me. So what new products did I spot in Aldi recently?

New Lacura skincare products in Aldi
    Lacura’s Micellar Cleansing Water

Gentle on the skin, fragrance free and contains ceramides and niacinamide, Lacura’s Micellar Cleansing Water is supposed to remove make-up and dirt gently but effectively. £2.99 for 250ml.

    Lacura’s Micellar Cleansing Water
    Lacura’s Hydrating Cleanser

Formulated for normal to dry skin, Lacura’s Hydrating Cleanser contains ceramides, hyaluronic acid and is fragrance free. This cleanser should clean without stripping the skin of it’s natural oils. £3.99 for 236ml.

    Lacura’s Hydrating Cleanser
    Lacura’s Moisturising Cream

This works perfectly alongside the Micellar Cleansing Water and Hydrating Cleanser, containing ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Lacura’s Moisturising Cream is for dry to very dry skin, and not just for the face but the whole body too. Fragrance free, quick absorption, moisturises instantly but long lasting. £3.99 for 250ml.

    Lacura’s Moisturising Cream

These three products packaging wise, ingredients (some) and the skin types they’re aimed towards makes these look like dupes of the skincare brand CeraVe. Will these be identical? Probably not. Similar? Possibly? Cheaper? Most definitely! Always compare ingredients to see how dupes compare to the original counterparts. But as stand alone products these are items I would want to purchase to use because they tick my skin boxes.

  • Dove’s Nourishing Body Care Beauty Cream

Dove is a well known brand when it comes to skin and body care products. They have everything under their umbrella such as bath soaks, soaps, deodorants, just to name a few. But for some reason it’s not a brand I normally gravitate towards. I do have one Dove product in my body care collection currently and that’s there Nourishing Body Care Beauty Cream. This was bought months ago and was less than £3.00 for 250ml from Home Bargains.

Dove’s Nourishing Body Care Beauty Cream
    Why did I buy this?

I’m a sucker for a body moisturiser! It doesn’t matter what kind it is or texture, I love them. This cream looked so inviting in it’s quite sizeable tub. I’m not normally drawn to this brand but I was by this.

What is this supposed to do?

Dove’s Nourishing Body Care Beauty Cream is a highly moisturising body product but designed not to leave the skin feeling or looking greasy.

    Fragrance

This beauty cream smells similar to baby lotion! Clean, fresh, comforting. That well known scent that even if you’ve never had anything to do with a baby or baby products somehow you know what baby lotion smells like and this is very close to it! It’s not strong though, noticeable, but quite delicate, which I like.

    Consistency

Consistency wise this is somewhere between a body lotion and a body cream. It’s not fluid but it’s not solid or particularly thick. It sits between the two.

    On the skin

Less is more with this product as I’ve discovered! You don’t need much, but because I did use too much I had to work it into my skin a little bit (my fault!). What I did notice is this has a slip to it but it didn’t feel like most body lotion/cream type products I’ve used before. It didn’t quite sink into the skin as expected and leave a heavy feel to it. What it did do was leave my skin looking totally matt and feeling smooth. My skin did feel moisturised and protected but not in a coated type of way. But I could tell there was something on it. The fragrance was there on my skin, but again delicate in strength.

    Who is this for?

Any skin type. Normal skin, dry, the majority of people will benefit from using this. The only people I would say possibly not is those who like heavy textures and have really dry skin that needs a weighty body product.

    Recommended?

What an interesting product! Dove’s Nourishing Body Care Beauty Cream wasn’t what I expected. Good size with a good amount of product to it. Fragrance is great and I dare anyone who wouldn’t like it because it’s so neutral. And the beauty cream does exactly what it says it does, deep moisturisation with no greasy feel! So would I recommend this? I would! Especially during humid times when you want your skin to be moisturised but not use a heavy and oily product.

There are different versions of this cream available everywhere but this less so. Always a good idea to check discount stores and if desperately needed Amazon. But always buy at a price you are happy with! Just spotted the small version of this in Home Bargains for 99p for 75ml.

  • My First Bath & Body Works Body Cream In Winterberry Wonder

The best way to try out new brands and products is when they have a sale. If you love them, you will purchase them at full price in the future (although being on sale is always better!). If they aren’t right for you it didn’t cost you a fortune to find out. One brand I’ve always been curious about, but never tried, is Bath & Body Works. They have an extensive range of bath, shower and body products, not to mention home fragrance items as well. So the perfect time for me to make my first purchase of their products was during their Boxing Day Sale. I grabbed Winterberry Wonder Body Cream online from Next for £4.00, normally £16.00 for 226g.

Bath & Body Works Winterberry Wonder Body Cream
    Why did I buy this?

The price of this product was affordable, the scent description online sounded great and I’m a bit of a body moisturiser junkie so perfect starting point to see what this brand was like in general.

What is this body lotion supposed to do?

Winterberry Wonder Body Lotion is designed to be a moisturising body product rich in texture, giving the skin a smooth, soft look and feel thanks to it containing shea butter and hyaluronic acid.

    Packaging

This body lotion comes tubed. Purple in colour, textured and very striking in look. It looks like it belongs in a gift set with a fine fragrance so very eye catching.

    Fragrance

This body lotion smells like a mix of berries and vanilla with a hint of sugar. It’s a beautiful scent. It’s fruity but in a very uplifting, energising way not sickly sweet and traditional.

    Consistency

White in colour with a typical body lotion texture. Loose in texture but not runny. When you first squeeze it out it does look quite thick but when applied it isn’t.

    On the skin

I found this body cream easy and quick to apply. I was a little disappointed this was more body lotion than body cream, because on the skin it didn’t feel particularly luxurious. Not only wasn’t it luxurious but it felt very light weight on the skin. Not a bad thing, but I wanted something thicker, more moisturising and heavier. After application, my skin felt slightly moisturised but not much and looked matt in appearance.

The thing that stood out for me with this product was the fragrance. Absolutely stunning and made using this an absolute joy. The fragrance was long lasting on the skin and this made me very happy.

My body didn’t look or feel much different after using Winterberry Wonder Body Cream. The only thing that was different after use was it was fragranced.

    Recommended?

My experience with this product was a little underwhelming. For it to be called a body cream made me have certain expectations. I expected some slip to it, thickness, moisturising and protection on the skin. This wasn’t. On my skin it felt like a basic body lotion. So not a body product I would recommend for dry skin and your skin is very thirsty and needs richness. If you have normal skin and looking for a light weight, beautifully fragrant body moisturiser then I would say buy this, but only on sale. At full price, £16.00 in my opinion is expensive and I would want to feel my skin plump with moisture after use paying that price. I didn’t get that with this. Would I buy this again? No. Would I buy the fragrance form of this if available? In a heartbeat!

There are lots of products within the Bath & Body Works range which is available from Next. My next purchase I think will be a fragrance because the body cream is not for me.

  • September’s Round Up. What Products Did I Use?

Another month bites the dust! This year really wants to be done, doesn’t it? It’s absolutely flying by. So here I am showcasing another monthly round up of products I’ve used, but this time for the month of September.

    September’s Round Up
Glow’s Ruffles At The Palace August Wax Melt Subscription Box

September definitely started with a bang with this beautifully crafted and scented wax subscription box from UK wax vendor Glow. 5 differently fragranced, shaped and coloured pieces of wax finished off with a super sweet tealight holder. So much wax that I’m still struggling to finish off this epic selection of wax goodies!

    Asda’s Rhubarb Blush Reed Diffuser

I’m having a love affair with reed diffusers at the moment. I was pleasantly surprised with the look, quality and price of Asda’s Rhubarb Blush Reed Diffuser. Even if you can’t get hold of this or similar from Asda at this price, it’s worthwhile taking notice of their home fragrance products if this is a reflection of their quality. It just shows supermarkets are more than food selling shops!

So…? Unique’s Sweet Amber Body Mist

If you’re wanting an affordable, Autumn inspired and warming, sweet fragrance, Unique’s Sweet Amber Body Mist might need to land on your shopping list. Body mists are an affordable and easy way to mix up your fragrance wardrobe without costing a fortune.

So…? Unique’s Sweet Amber Body Mist
Superdrug’s Vitamin E All Over Body Cream with Lavender

This body cream is a little special! Moisturising without being greasy, great fragrance and a pleasure to use. And of course, not expensive and regularly on a price promotion at Superdrug so win win!

Superdrug’s Vitamin E All Over Body Cream with Lavender
The Body Shop’s Seaweed Balance Sheet Mask

I love The Body Shop for its bath and body products but I’m finding a lot of their skincare products don’t fall into my repurchase pile. Their Seaweed Balance Sheet Mask didn’t do much for my skin. Probably not the sheet mask for me and not one I would buy as I’ve used and enjoyed others much more.

The Body Shop’s Seaweed Balance Sheet Mask
Better Homes & Gardens Lemongrass & Ginger Botanical Infused Wax Melts
Wax melts are definitely my thing! Anyone who knows me knows how much I love them. And these little botanical gems not only smelt great, looked fabulous but were also super cheap! Perfect Christmas stocking fillers.

So…? Sorry Not Sorry Ready, Steady Scrub Body Buffer

Vanilla based, very grainy and super effective body scrub. So…? Sorry Not Sorry Ready, Steady Scrub Body Buffer is a good body scrub for those who want a fun scrub to use (and smell), and it works too!

So…? Sorry Not Sorry Ready, Steady Scrub Body Buffer

That’s a wrap for September! So, while I wrap myself up in a blanket (I refuse to put the heat on, if you’re in the UK you know what I mean!), I’m thinking about what other product reviews will come up next month! So keep reading…
