  • Affordable Treacle Moon’s Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts For £1.00!

It can be the simple things that make people happy. The feeling of peace and quiet shut off from the world. A few moments of pure relaxation and alone time. I’m basically describing having a bath! If you love your bath you will know having that time submerged in warm water with various lotions, potions and products in it really can be bliss. That’s why I take my bath products very, very seriously. During my last trip to high street retailer Boots I purchased not only Treacle Moon’s Frosted Candy Angel Shower & Bath Gel, but also their Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts. The bath salts cost £1.00 for 80g.

Treacle Moon’s Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts
    Why did I buy these?

I bought Treacle Moon’s bath salts a few years ago when they were available in Aldi and I thought they were great! But I hadn’t seen them since instore. When I saw these I had to purchase them! The price was still affordable and the scent from the name alone sounded perfect.

What is Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts?

These are baths salts that contain safflower and jojoba oils. You place the salts in your bath and they produce bubbles. Fragranced, foaming and vegan friendly.

    Packaging

The bath salts come in a sachet. Fun in look, colourful and you actually can smell the fragrance of the bath salts from the packaging without even opening it.

How do these bath salts look?

I expected Sweet Berry Kisses to be pink or purple in colour because of their fragrance but it wasn’t. What I got was not typical bath salts in structure, but quite a fine powder with a few irregular sized pieces in it and the odd glisten of tiny crystal shapes. The actual colour? Brown! Not much different to hot chocolate powder that you just add water to it. Not massively appealing but was a big surprise.

    Fragrance

A mix of slightly zesty but sweetened orange with ripe berries. An absolutely stunning scent and quite unusual as I don’t think I’ve smelt anything similar before in a bath product.

    In the bath

Under warm running water, these bath salts immediately created soft, fluffy foam. It also turned the water from clear to a light pink colour which I didn’t expect because of the actual colour of the salts. The fragrance was there but light which suited me perfectly because a heady scent was not what I needed at the time. The foam/bubbles created wasn’t a massive amount but enough to cover the surface of the bath. They lasted a decent amount of time too which always helps.

In the bath I enjoyed it. As mentioned the fragrance was the right strength for me at the time (I had the mother of headaches), I spent 20 minutes in there and felt my time was well spent.

I did worry once out if my skin would react to it. Since the temperature and humidity in the UK has risen, my skin hasn’t liked it. A few small areas of skin have been itchy, sore and easily irritated. These bath salts didn’t cause any issues at all and were actually quite gentle on my skin overall and didn’t dry it out either.

    Recommended?

Although this could be thought of as not the most economical because it’s only designed for one bath, I think it’s great. Perfect to add in a gift for someone, ideal to take away when travelling. And of course to just use at home when the mood takes you is a given. So I love the idea of this one bath serving sachet as it’s convenient with zero waste! Fragrance is stunning, creates foam, non drying or irritating to the skin and produces a lovely relaxing bath for £1.00. What more do you need? Totally recommended!

Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts can be found in a few selected stores such as Boots, Waitrose and direct from Treacle Moon themselves.

  • Summer Perfect So…? Unique Floral Night Body Mist

I’ve created a monster, literally! My soon to be 12 year old is a bigger fragrance junkie than me which I didn’t think was possible. No longer is she happy using my body mists, eau de toilettes and anything else, she wants her own too! So I recently bought her So…? Unique Floral Night Body Mist from Boots. I picked this up for half price costing me £2.99 instead of £5.99.

So…? Unique Floral Night Freesia & Plum Body Mist
    Why did I buy this?

I’ve bought her body mists from this brand before and she loved them! So much so she’s been asking me to replace them with the same or similar scents. When I saw this the price was perfect, the scent name sounded nice and I thought she would enjoy using it.

    Packaging

So…? Unique Floral Night is housed in quite a chunky spray bottle. Gold lid, transparent bottle but tinted purple. The shape of the bottle is a little different than others on the market. The labelling is basic (pictures of flowers on it) and something you would see on a cheaper priced product in my opinion. But it’s not unappealing and pleasant enough on the eye.

    Fragrance

This is a mix of florals and fruity flavoured effervescent sweets! That’s the best way I can describe it. The floral element is pretty and feminine. The fruity part is sweet, juicy with a hint of peach and creamy vanilla but has a slight fizziness/energy to it. I love it!

    Strength & Longevity

When first applied this is a medium. The fragrance immediately hit me and I was grateful for it. It’s such a noticeable scent if you apply it you will smell it. Longevity wise I wish it was a bit better. I put this on in the morning (on clothing not on skin, I never do that) and over 4 hours later I got the smallest hit of this. In fairness, it’s been very hot and I’ve noticed this can change how a fragrance behaves but I wanted more. But like any affordable body mist there was nothing stopping me from reapplying when needed so not a massive issue but could be better.

    Does my daughter like this?

It lives in her school bag. She puts this on in the morning and goodness knows how many times in the day because I can definitely smell it on her when she comes home. When I first gave her this she got excited saying how nice this smelt and how she loves it. And if I use this I get an evil side eye in my direction so it’s safe to say it’s thumbs up from her!

So…Unique Floral Night & Sweet Amber
    Recommended?

Despite the longevity side of things I really adore this fragrance. In fact, it’s probably one of my favourited body mists EVER! The fragrance is just so gorgeous I could wear this morning, noon and night. This would appeal to anyone who loves fruity scents and some floral lovers would like this too. Lots of different ages would use and enjoy this. For the price I paid you can afford to use this constantly and I would definitely buy this again if on a special promotion.

  • Brighter Skin On A Budget? Boots Ingredients Vitamin C Serum

My goal for this year is to use skincare products with ingredients that are going to tackle particular problems my skin is suffering from. I don’t want to keep buying ‘stuff’ I don’t actually need which is a waste of time and money. And this is why I purchased Boots Ingredients Vitamin C Serum (for the second time!). 30ml for £6.00, but I grabbed this while the range had a 3 for 2 offer.

    Boots Ingredients Vitamin C Serum
    Why did I buy this?

Although my skin right now is in good condition, this wasn’t the case a few months ago. The texture was rough in places, some hyperpigmentation on the cheeks thanks to a few spots leaving marks behind. My skin just wasn’t great. Looking at my skincare routine I noticed my products didn’t include ingredients that targeted particular problems. Vitamin C is something I thought could help and super charge my routine so I bought this because it had good reviews, was affordable and a good introduction to an ingredient I hadn’t used before.

What does Vitamin C do to the skin?

It helps to protect the skin against things such as pollution, UV rays from the sun and give the skin a more brighter look. An overall great anti-oxidant. Not only can it brighten the skin but help fade discolouration, make skin appear to be smoother and make it look fresher.

    Packaging

The packaging for this range is very simple. The serum itself comes in a small, white pump action bottle with black writing and detailing. Super basic and reminds me of another skincare range. This comes boxed.

    Texture

Typical serum in texture. It’s completely clear and when pumped out is liquid, but not as fluid as water. There is no fragrance I can detect in this product when applied.

    How to apply

Use day and night on the face and gently massage it in until it’s absorbed into the skin.

    Aplied to the skin

This is a lovely product when placed on the skin! Two pumps is enough for me when gently rubbed into my skin. It feels light, non sticky but hydrating at the same time. This Vitamin C serum takes no time to sink into the skin, as it leaves my skin looking matt and not feeling tacky.

This works well with any facial cream I put on over the top. And on a few occasions I’ve headed straight to my sun cream (accidentally) after applying this and still felt my skin was moisturised enough.

I don’t use this day and night, only day time. From what I’ve read Vitamin C is more effective used during the day compare to night time use.

    Has this improved my skin?

I don’t think it’s one product that helped my skin improve, it’s a few. I’ve started to us sun cream on my face everyday regardless of the weather. Rosehip oil has been slotted into my night time routine to help with hydration and pigmentation. And I think these combined with Boots Ingredients Vitamin C Serum has helped navigate my skin through an awkward stage.

    Recommended?

This was my first introduction to Vitamin C and I think it’s a really good starting point for anyone who wants to use this ingredient. It’s not expensive and regularly on some form of price promotion making it more affordable. The texture of this is great and easy to use and easily absorbed into the skin. So it’s a thumbs up from me (and my skin) for Boots Ingredients Vitamin C Serum.

  • Pure & Co Peony & Water Lily Eau de Toilette

There was a time I could buy a perfume or body fragrance and it would last me months and months. Now my mini me has decided to give herself a spritz or 10 at every opportunity, so my fragrances seem to get lower and lower as the days go by. But thankfully I try to have a small reserve of fragrances hidden away just in case. I’ve decided to start using Pure & Co’s Peony & Water Lily Eau De Toilette. Bought from Boots, it’s currently priced at £15.00 for 50ml.

Pure & Co’s Peony & Water Lily Eau de Toilette

    Why did I buy this?

I bought this fragrance in a gift set which included a candle. At the time, these sets were half price, and I thought they were great value and great future gifts. The scent description I thought seemed quite pretty and appealing and I hoped they would be liked by those receiving this as a present.

    Packaging.

Almost square in shape with rounded corners. Clear, with the brand logo and fragrance simply printed on the front. The lid is wooden with what looks like cork inside to keep it snug around the spray dispenser section. It’s not fussy in appearance, quite cute and very understated. I like it!

    Fragrance.

Quite unusual, or at least it is when sitting in my collection of fragrances. I can smell equal parts of white florals and a pepperiness to this eau de toilette. The floral being quite light, clean and slightly feminine. The pepper giving it a spiciness and warmth to the overall scent. It’s an interesting combination, but I’m not convinced the floral part comes through enough. It needs to be stronger, and I feel another element needs to come in because I don’t think these two elements alone are making it well rounded enough. I don’t hate this fragrance but I don’t love it either.

    Strength & Longevity.

One thing I’ve discovered is fragrances that are florals and more so white florals, will give a fresh feel to a scent. They can also be quite soft in strength too. This isn’t the strongest scent I’ve ever smelt and is very light. In fact too light. Longevity isn’t amazing. It didn’t last very well, and I have to apply a lot of this onto myself regularly. For my daughter though this was good. I don’t want her wearing something too strong and overpowering. Light and delicate is ideal for her because she is a child, but it gives her the idea she is wearing something nice and more importantly smells nice too.

    Recommended?

This scent won’t be for everyone. And not everyone is like me who wants a strong in your face scent. But if you want something subtle, quite fresh but unusual you would like this. But the price is the drawback and how long it lasts. For £15.00 I would expect this, regardless of how delicate in scent, to last well or at least longer than it did. If it doesn’t, surely you could find a body mist literally a tenth of this price that would last the same if not better? So unless this is on a special offer or promotion I would say go for another alternative. I bought this when it was on sale in a gift set but I would be very annoyed if bought full price with how it delivered.

If this does rock your fragrance boat, you can get this from Boots here. This is just the fragrance remember and not the gift set I purchased. There’s also different fragrances from the same brand available, and body mists which maybe a good and cheaper alternative to this.
