  • New Skincare In Home Bargains!

    Some people love skincare and enjoy using products. Some people buy and use it because it’s part of a daily routine. I’m definitely the person who loves it, but I also appreciate the fact everyone’s budget and needs are different when it comes to skincare. Not everyone has the disposable income to spend on luxury lotions and potions, or even want to. So cheaper alternatives are welcome. I had a walk down first aisle in Home Bargains to see what new products they had and how much they were. So what did I find?

    Beelicious Cleansing Jelly

    I’ve never heard of this brand before. I don’t even know how good it is but Beelicious will appeal to some people. This brand/range includes a Honey & Squalene Cleansing Jelly. Not much on the packaging information wise on the product. But I assume it’s designed to be a non-stripping, hydrating, gentle but effective cleanser. £3.99 for 200ml.

    Beelicious Face Serum

    This serum should be easy to slot into any skincare routine. The Beelicious Face Serum seems to have some soothing ingredients in this (aloe vera, honey) which should also hydrate. I don’t think it’s geared towards anti-ageing or specific skin concerns so quite generic. £2.49 for 50ml.

    Beelicious Vitamin C & Niacinamide Face Cream

    Containing vitamin c and niacinamide, these ingredients can help give skin a glow by improving the texture and tone of it. So this Vitamin C & Niacinamide Face Cream should not only moisturise but help the skin look healthier. £2.99 for 50ml.

    Revolution Skin’s Medowfoam Milk Oil Cleanser

    This isn’t a recent new edition to the shelves of Home Bargains, but I thought for the brand and price it was still worth a mention. Revolution Skin’s Medowfoam Milk Oil Cleanser looks great for those who like a more luxurious cleanser and possibly have a more drier skin type. Great to use as a general cleanser but also a make-up remover, whilst leaving the skin clean, soft and smooth. £1.59 for 200ml.

    Whind Brightening Overnight Eye Mask

    Whind Brightening Overnight Eye Mask is an eye product that aims to brighten the under eye area, help with puffiness and smooth out this area. With ingredients to help with these results such as caffeine, meadowfoam seed oil, reishi mushroom and niacinamide. £3.99 for for 15ml.

    Did any of these grab my attention? Price points were good, loved the packaging but the only product I’m drawn to is Revolution Skin’s Medowfoam Milk Oil Cleanser. I don’t just like it because of the low price point but I like the sound of the cleanser in general. It’s also a brand I know with a decent set of ingredients.

    Aldi never fail to disappoint me. I walked into my local store for milk, but somehow made a beeline for their new skincare products! And there were quite a few skincare (and haircare) products that caught my eye thanks to their bright and vivid packaging. So what does Aldi’s Lacura skincare range have to offer skincare lovers at the moment?

    Aldi’s Lacura Jelly Cleanser

    This cleanser can be used to remove make-up, daily dirt and grime and leave the skin clean, soft and smooth without drying it out. Rub into wet skin either or both day and night. 150ml for £3.99.

    Aldi’s Lacura Pineapple Microdermabrasion Scrub

    A gentle but effective exfoliator, that gets rid of dead skin cells and leaves skin softer and smoother. It should improve the texture and radiance of the skin. Apply onto wet skin, rinse off and use 2 to 3 times a week. £3.99 for 100ml.

    Designed to hydrate, brighten and create a more soft and supple skin, Lacura’s Vitamin C & Tumeric Oil should be applied onto clean skin underneath a moisturiser. £5.99 for 30ml.

    Aldi’s Lacura Exfoliating Glycolic Treatment

    Perfect for dull and lacklustre skin, Lacura’s Exfoliating Glycolic Treatment aims to brighten and make skin look more smoother and vibrant. Apply 2 to 3 times a week onto clean skin before using a moisturiser. 30ml for £5.99.

    Containing ceramides and various oils including watermelon, this moisturiser is made to moisturise and hydrate the skin. It sounds like it’s aimed towards skin that maybe is on the drier side. £6.99 for 50ml.

    This is a moisturiser geared more towards anti-ageing. Aldi’s Lacura Multi-Peptide Moisturiser contains peptides, nutrients and proteins to help even out skin tone and improve the firmness and texture of skin. £6.99 for 50ml.

    Aldi’s Lacura Intensive Eye Cream

    An eye product that can help improve fine lines and wrinkles and hydrate the under eye area is Aldi’s Lacura Intensive Eye Cream. Containing Vitamin A, C and E, which should help nourish this area. 15ml for £3.99.

    So what are my impressions of these skincare products? Firstly, some of these aren’t new e.g the Jelly Cleanser. This isn’t a bad thing. It’s nice to see some products coming back, rather than just one hit wonders. What I like is the mix of products available and how they form a solid, full, skincare routine. These seem easy to use, hard working products all at great, budget friendly price points. Will they suit everyone? Of course not! But definitely worth a try if you’re looking for a new skincare item.

  • New Facial Cleansers For My Family

    Being a mum to two teenagers is no easy task. It’s also not cheap either! We all know how expensive children can be, especially this age range, but how am I finding dealing with skincare issues with them? Hormones, occasional break outs, dare I say…not wanting to wash face at all, makes buying skincare an interesting thing to do. So I just try to keep it as basic, and as affordable as possible. The first step is cleansers. What facial cleansers have I bought for myself, and my children, that has been affordable and why did I buy them?

    Q+A’s Oat Milk Cream Cleanser

    Going from Summer to Autumn can cause changes not only to skin but in habits and routines as well. Skin can become drier and personally, I like to use richer textures when it comes to skincare products I use. This is where Q+A’s Oat Milk Cream Cleanser comes into my routine, because it’s thicker and more nourishing than other cleansers I use. Ideal for this time of year and perfect for my skin.

    Simple’s Purifying Cleansing Lotion

    I bought this for my 13 year old daughter. Simple as a range agrees with her. I try to keep fragrances out of her products and have formulations that aren’t complicated. I bought Simple’s Purifying Cleansing Lotion because she now wears make-up. Using this on a cotton pad I thought could be very thorough with removal. Plus, I felt this texture would help not strip her skin and be comforting to it.

    This is for my 15 year old son, who doesn’t seem to understand washing your face with a face wash is important! He gets the odd spot, and I KNOW he doesn’t wash his face good enough to get rid of dirt and grime, and that’s why I bought Simple’s Purifying Gel Wash. Easy and quick to use, no fragrance, a bit of witch hazel in there to zap spots and hopefully clean and calm down any extra oil his skin is producing.

    Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Face Wash

    I ALWAYS buy Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Face Wash. Its such a simple cleanser but it does the job of cleaning the skin effectively and is affordable. We ALL use this, or at least myself and my daughter do. I will use this in the morning because I like the idea of a foaming face wash on the skin, and my daughter uses this…whenever she chooses to!

    Cost

    So how much did these products cost? Q+A’s Oat Milk Cream Cleanser was £7.50 down to £4.50 in Tesco. Simple’s Purifying Cleansing Lotion was down to £2.10 from £3.50 in ASDA. Simple’s Purifying Gel Wash was £2.85 down from £6.00, again, bought from ASDA. And Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Face was £1.19.

    So, if you’re looking for skincare facial cleansers that are gentle on the skin, effective cleansers, no added fragrance or colour for the whole family, look into my purchases. Because all 4 of these cleansers tick each of those boxes.

  • My Favourite Skincare Products Of 2023

    Every year I tell myself I won’t get sucked into buying more skincare and as usual I fail miserably! I love skincare, I enjoy trying new products and finding things that work well for my skin. But 2023 definitely was the year I relied more on budget friendly prices, price promotions and sales more than ever thanks to the cost of living. So what skincare products were my favourite in 2023?

    Face Facts Ceramide Gentle Cleanser was THAT product I would happily repurchase again and again if it stayed in stock in Home Bargains. Fragrance free, gentle but effective on the skin and easy to dispense thanks to it’s pump action packaging.

    Selfless by Hyram’s Centella & Green Tea Gel Cleanser

    Another cleanser I enjoyed using was Selfless by Hyram’s Centella & Green Tea Gel Cleanser. I thought it was so good I must have bought at least 4 of them! I used this, my kids used this. Overall it was a very good cleanser that didn’t strip the skin and it gave my skin the best clean base to start my mornings and end my evenings.

    Simple’s Illuminating Under- Eye Hydrogel Mask

    When your under eye area needs a quick fix, under eye patches are a great product to use. Simple’s Illuminating Under Eye Hydrogel Mask are one of those eye products I re-purchased in 2023, used on myself and actually gave as gifts too. Easy to use, cooling, comfortable, a small but instant improvement on the under eye area and very affordable.

    Freeman’s Pre-Party Mask Duo

    The best form of skincare bargain is that purchase which is cheap but works, and I found this when I bought Freeman’s Pre-Party Mask Duo. I never used this brand before. It was never on my radar until I spotted this product reduced in my local Tesco store to 67p! Once sachet of a facial skincare mask and one sachet of a moisturiser was included. This duo really impressed me because after use my skin felt and looked so good! Brilliant buy!

    CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum

    Sometimes if you have specific skincare concerns you have to pay a little more for a specialised product that targets that issue. CeraVe’s Resurfacing Retinol Serum was purchased because I was, and still am, suffering with hyperpigmentation. Its much better than what it was but I would love to see this improve even more. This is one of the things I’ve been using to help and it definitely has changed the look of my skin for the better.

    So those are my favourite skincare products I used in 2023. Looking back on my choices and purchases, I didn’t go crazy buying lots of skincare with most of these being products I needed rather than wanted. Let’s hope 2024 is the same….
