  • Reduced Priced Products In Boots

As much as I would like to visit the store Boots more regularly, I can’t. Time and location of the stores means if and when I visit it’s normally for another reason. But when I’m in the area I always like to have a look to see what’s available and check what special promotions are on in regards to bath, body, skincare or fragrance products. Did I find anything during my most recent visit, and more importantly, did I buy anything at a special price point?

    My bargains in Boots
Treacle Moon’s Papaya Summer Shower & Bath Gel

I’m a fan of the brand Treacle Moon, and I’ve tried (and loved!) quite a few of their products including Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts, Treacle Moon’s Frosted Candy Angel and Papaya Summer Body Scrub. So I grabbed their Papaya Summer Shower & Bath Gel which was reduced from £1.99 to £1.38. When I got to the till it actually scanned at 50p, so I went and grabbed three more! 500ml in size, smells amazing (tropical and fruity) and is the perfect Summer scented bath and shower product.

Salt of the Earth Unscented Natural Deodorant Crystal

I’m very open minded to natural body products. Salt of the Earth Unscented Natural Deodorant Crystal got my attention because we go through LOTS of underarm products. With a 14 and 12 year old you can imagine the amount I have to buy in various fragrances and types. This seemed very affordable (£1.38 down from £5.50). Contains 100% natural ingredients, unscented and is supposed to not leave white marks. I bought 3 in the end.

Salt of the Earth’s Unscented Natural Deodorant

So these were the two bargain buys I found in Boots. 4 shower and bath gels and 3 natural deodorants for roughly £6.00. Not bad if I say so myself! It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on shelves in stores such as Boots, Superdrug and also supermarkets because there can be some really great priced products available to suit even the lowest of budgets.

  • New Make-Up, Make-Up Tools & Skincare In Home Bargains

Most of us like to see new products on the shelves in our local Home Bargains. More so when they’re affordable. In the last week I’ve seen some items which could grab the attention of anyone from make-up and skincare lovers to teens and young adults. So what’s new?

    Home Bargain Finds!
    w7 False Nails

Very decorative and striking set of 24 nails with glue included. Different designs and colourings available, great for those who like eye catching nails and nail art. 99p per pack.

    w7 False Nails
    w7 Lash & Brow Serum

A lash and brow serum is a good product to have to keep both lashes and brows groomed and conditioned. A product that’s overlooked and could be great for those who love applying make-up on these areas or those who like a natural look. Only 99p.

    w7 Lash & Brow Serum
    w7 Ultra Plush Mascara

There seems to be an influx of w7 products in Home Bargains at the moment but I doubt there will be any complaints from shoppers! Included with other make-up products is a mix of different mascara’s, but I only saw one version on my last look which was Ultra Plush Mascara. This is to help add volume and fullness to lashes but in a soft and less harsh looking and feeling way. Cost? You guessed it, 99p!

    Face Facts Blemish Patches

These aren’t new as I’ve seen these before in store, but they fly in and fly out. Face Facts Blemish Patches are designed to help deal with spots. Each shaped patch placed over a spot/blemish, helps to get all the nasty stuff out of it and help to protect it too. Fragrance free, which can help if skin is irritated. Another 99p product!

    Face Facts Blemish Patches
    Ecotools Fiery Eyes Kit

A 6 piece brush kit dedicated to the eye area, Ecotools Fiery Eyes Kit is a great looking brush set. All different shapes and sizes are included, which can cover all eye make-up application needs. £2.99.

All of these products cost more on other websites or in stores, so a great way to pay the lowest prices if you wanted to try some of these out.

  • Cien’s Simple Dupe Refreshing Facial Wash

Now that I have two teenagers (nearly) in my house, the hygiene and skincare products I’m buying has multiped. Deodorants, fragrances, body moisturisers and various other lotions and potions are now being bought not just for myself, but for my son and daughter too. One thing that is a regular buy is a facial wash. We seem to go through the stuff like crazy! Our latest cleanser purchased is Lidl’s Cien Refreshing Facial Wash. This cost £1.09 for 150ml with a 15% off promotion.

    Lidl’s Cien Refreshing Facial Wash
    Why did I buy this?

For the kids (and occasionally me), I normally grab Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Facial Wash but I didn’t have time to visit the store. So I opted for this instead. Both products are dupes of Simple skincare products (Simple’s Moisturising Facial Wash and Simple’s Refreshing Facial Wash), both are fragrance free (less irritating and more gentle on the skin) and both very affordable. We’ve never used this before but I thought we would give this a go.

Cien Refreshing Facial Wash, what does it do?

Lidl’s Cien Refreshing Facial Wash is designed to be a kind to the skin but be an effective cleanser. No fragrance, colour, alcohol and soap free, so this is suitable for those with sensitive skin. This also contains various vitamins (Vitamin B5 & E), all aimed to provide a gentle cleanse.

    Packaging

The packaging reminds me very much of Simple’s Refreshing Facial Wash. Plastic tube, tainted green with the overall look of something that’s designed to be natural. Very basic in appearance but seems sturdy and fit for use.

    Consistency, Look & Fragrance

Cien’s Refreshing Facial Wash is clear, liquid and more runnier than what I thought it would be. I thought it would be thicker but it wasn’t. And of course, no scent as it’s fragrance free.

    On the skin

I applied this onto wet skin. Although it lathered slightly there wasn’t much of it. I could work it into my skin but I felt I needed more so I used more. It felt fine on the skin, but it didn’t quite feel as fresh and moisturising as other facial washes I’ve used before. It just felt ok.

It didn’t make my skin feel or look dry, although it was clean. It removed eyebrow pencil and sun cream reasonably well so it did what it needed to do. But I didn’t particularly enjoy using this and I felt my skin needed something a little more comforting and as mentioned, moisturising in feel.

    Recommended?

It did the job! A facial wash should clean the skin, make it look and feel fresh without stripping it. Lidl’s Cien Refreshing Facial Wash did this. This is absolutely fine for my kids and they will use it but I won’t. I’ve used others that I preferred more and felt were better suited to my skin compared to this one. But if you’re on a budget with normal to combination skin, even a little oily, this would be fine. If your skin is more drier, mature or you want something a little more hydrating (like me) this might not be the right formulation for you. But for £1.09, who wouldn’t give it a whirl?

  • What’s New In Home Bargains

The lure of buying new skincare, fragrance, bath and body products is a strong one. But if you’re going to have a little splurge on yourself or on others, try and make it as affordable as possible. I’m always on the look out for new products on the high street but I don’t want to make expensive purchases. So what have I found that’s affordable recently in Home Bargains?

    New Finds in Home Bargains
Treacle Moon’s Creamy Shea Butterfly Bath Salts

I love the brand Treacle Moon. It’s normally found in certain places but not everywhere. Their products are budget friendly, great quality and enjoyable to use. Finding their bath salts in Home Bargains nearly gave me a heart attack because they were priced so low (£1.99), they look pampering and perfect for gifting. Not to mention they come in a glass jar which is reusable and easy on the eye.

Treacle Moon’s Creamy Shea Butterfly Soothing Epsom Salts
    Calcot Spa’s Smoothing Body Scrub

For only 99p, this orange and wild rose scented body scrub from Calcot Spa grabbed my attention as I’ve only ever spotted it in Tesco. The cheapest price I’ve ever seen this for was £2.00. So for 99p this is a steal!

Calcot Spa’s Pamper Bliss Smoothing Body Scrub
    Calcot Spa’s Soothing Bath Soak

The perfect partner to their Body Scrub, Calcot Spa’s Peaceful Sleep Soothing Bath Soak looks like it’s made for relaxation. Fragrance wise this includes spiced ginger and bergamot orange. I can imagine this being a very comforting bath product. A great size of 500ml, this costs, like the scrub, only 99p.

Calcot Spa’s Peaceful Sleep Soothing Bath Soak
    Face Fact’s Wonder Cream

Face Facts Wonder Cream is designed to give the skin hydration and a healthy glow and natural smoothness to the skin. Normally £7.99 on the Face Facts website, in Home Bargains it’s currently £3.99 for 50ml.

    Face Fact’s Wonder Cream

No wonder no one can go into this shop and buy just the one thing! Too many products and not enough time to try them all out….and I haven’t mentioned ALL the new products I’ve found (watch out for the next post). Such a great selection of budget friendly skin, bath and body products!
