  • 59p Bath Cubes From Dirty Works in Home Bargains

In these times where everything is so expensive, it’s always nice to be able to buy something which isn’t a necessity, but a treat, and a cheap one too! Most bath lovers will enjoy using various products at bath time to help them unwind and relax. So Dirty Works Cube Tropicana Fizzy Bath Cubes might appeal to these people. I bought this from Home Bargains for only 59p! But was it 59p well spent?

Dirty Works Cube Tropicana Fizzy Bath Cubes
    What are fizzy bath cubes?

This is just another name for bath fizzers. The reason its called ‘cubes’ is because you will be throwing cubes of Cube Tropicana in the bath! It SHOULD provide some form of fragrance and fizz in the bath while it dissolves.

    Packaging

Dirty Works Cube Tropicana Fizzy Bath Cubes comes in a rectangular cardboard box. Brightly coloured, very appealing with an open window at the front, so you can see the bath cubes inside.

How do these bath cubes look?

The bath cubes come in a chunky rectangular bar which is segmented off like a bar of chocolate. To use, you snap off the amount of cubes you want to throw into the bath. The bar itself is purple and green in colour, which matches the colouring of it’s packaging perfectly. On the back, the Dirty Works logo is embossed into it. The texture of this looks and feels like most bath fizzers or bath bombs which is hard and chalky.

    Fragrance

These bath cubes are supposed to have a berry like fragrance to them. What I got was definitely fruity, more berry than anything else, and a little powdery. But also a smell of chalkiness you get with some bath fizzers. The fragrance itself was pleasant. Not the best fragrance I’ve ever smelt from a bath product, or the strongest, but nice enough.

    In the bath

I used two cubes of Dirty Works Cube Tropicana Fizzy Bath Cubes. I popped them in the bath and they immediately fizzed, while slowly turning the water from clear to a soft mint colour. The bath cubes took awhile to disappear, but did and left no residue. No foam or bubbles was created, just coloured water was left behind. Fragrance wise it was incredibly faint. I just about got a slight whiff of the scent of these bath cubes but nothing that stood out.

Being in the bath, it was ok. It just felt as if I was sitting in coloured water. Nothing particularly moisturising, comforting or pampering about this bath. But on a positive note it didn’t irritate or dry out my skin during or after. So overall not a bad bathing experience but not the best.

    Recommended?

This needed to be more fragrant. It would have improved this product so much if this smelt better and stronger. The colour it left the bath was nice but that’s it. Besides fizzing and colour that’s all these bath cubes did. So it’s not something I would repurchase for myself. But for the price, the packaging and the amount of bath cubes you get it’s hard to complain (well, not for me it isn’t!). If you just want a cheap bath fizzer to throw in the bath or give as a gift to a bath bomb lover (not expert), then buy it, it’s only 59p! If, like me, you want more, give this a miss.

  • Dirty Works Bahama Balm-A Coconut Body Balm

A body moisturiser is a must in a daily body care routine. There is nothing worse than having tight, dry looking and feeling skin. But soft, smooth and well moisturised skin not only looks good but is more comfortable to be in. That’s why I love this type of product so much! I was given lots of different skin and body products from a friend recently including 100ml of Dirty Works Bahama Balm-A Coconut Body Balm. So I switched up my body care routine and slipped this into it to see how it performed.

    Why did I use this?

I’ve been using Aveeno body lotion morning and night for months. As great as it is there’s no smell to it and I fancied something with a scent. I did hope Dirty Works Bahama Balm-A Coconut Body Balm would be quite a rich texture to keep my skin well moisturised and fragranced at the same time.

What does this supposed to do?

This is supposed to be a tropical scented, highly moisturising body product which will leave the skin fragranced and nourished.

    My skin type

The skin on my body is in good condition. Having black skin means it can lose moisture very quickly but with regular moisturising it can be kept at bay. I also have psoriasis. My skin sometimes has small, itchy irritated areas (especially going into warmer months) so a regular body product of some kind is a must to soothe and stop my skin from drying out.

    Packaging

100ml comes in a flip topped plastic tube. It’s eye catching, thanks to it’s slightly tropical designed images (coconut, flowers) and the colouring (peachy pink and turquoise). It doesn’t scream a hard working product to me but more of a fun product to use.

Dirty Works Bahama Balm-A Coconut Body Balm
    Fragrance

A lightly sugared but not sickly coconut scent. It’s not heavy or strong and quite pleasant.

    Consistency

I thought this would be thicker than a lotion but not as thick as a body butter. But it looks like a body lotion in consistency to me. White in colour, fluid and smooth.

    On the skin

It rubbed into my skin easily and sank in pretty much straight away. When it was applied it felt and acted like a lotion. My skin felt and looked quite matt and although it had a sense of something being placed on it, it didn’t feel particularly moisturised. On the skin it was so light weight it disappeared. It didn’t give my skin the protection I hoped it would get.

The fragrance was there and it was nice. But what I wanted alongside the fragrance was my body to feel cocooned which it didn’t.

My small patches of irritated skin didn’t like this body balm. In fairness, fragranced products is something I try to avoid when my skin plays up but sometimes you just want to smell nice! So not something I would or could use if my skin was having an awkward moment in the future.

Dirty Works Body Balm & Sugar Scrub
    Recommended?

This wasn’t the product for me. I wanted Dirty Works Bahama Balm-A Coconut Body Balm to be slightly richer and thicker, more protective and leave my skin feeling plumped and smooth. It did feel smooth but not moisturised enough. This was far too light weight for me so not something I would purchase myself but I probably would have liked this 20 years ago.

If you like your sweet scents, a product quick and easy to use, non greasy leaves skin matt, you would probably like this. It’s not expensive. On Amazon the 200ml size is £3.99. But if you suffer from dry and sensitive skin, look for another alternative.

  • Great For Teenagers? Dirty Works Coconut Foaming Sugar Scrub

If you ever want to have an instant body skin makeover, there are two products that can do this within minutes. One being a good body scrub. It will exfoliate and smooth and soften the skin even after just one application. And using a body moisturiser of choice. This gives the skin an even smoother feel but moisturised and protected. Both I love to use but it’s the body scrub I’m a bit lazy with. So it was a lovely surprise to be given by a friend Dirty Works Foaming At Last Coconut Foaming Sugar Scrub recently, now added to my body care collection.

Dirty Works Foam At Last Coconut Foaming Sugar Scrub
    Why did I use this?

I’ve always been curious about this brand but never bought it. In all honesty I wasn’t too sure whether it was a good brand or not. But being given this, this gave me the perfect opportunity to test out my misgivings and see if this was actually a good product.

What is this supposed to do?

This is a body scrub which is supposed to gently exfoliate, moisturise and not dry out the skin and foam all at the same time!

    Packaging

This scrub comes in a plastic flip top tube. The colouring of this (mainly a coral pink) reminds me of the brand Soap & Glory. But the pictures on this (palms trees, coconuts, flamingo) makes it more tropical looking. I don’t particular love how this is presented but it’s ok. It does catch your eye but possibly more for the younger market. It’s too busy for me and screams a fun product rather than hard working one.

    Fragrance

A slightly sugary but not too sweet coconut scent. Not very strong but enough to get a subtle hit. It doesn’t bowl me over, it’s just ok. I’ve smelt better from similar scented products before but I’ve also smelt worse.

    Consistency & Texture

Squeezed out of the tube, this scrub comes out quite thick and with hold. A super pretty pale pink colour and doesn’t look totally smooth thanks to the sugar crystals. But when you touch it, it sort of has a slightly sticky feel to it. It has some slip to it but more sticky than greasy.

    In Use

When I applied this to damp skin, I found that I needed to go back in for more of the scrub. Using a small amount wasn’t giving my body the coverage I needed so I went in a few times. I could feel the small and slightly sparse exfoliating particles in this but they didn’t feel effective enough while I was using this. With the heat of my body these slowly seemed to be less and disappear (the particles are sugar crystals).

On my skin this sugar scrub looked like a light veil of cream. Not a lot, but slightly. I THINK this was the scrub foaming, but foaming isn’t a word to describe it at all! More a milkiness that you get when using some scrubs when it mixes with the water from the dampness of the body.

The fragrance was there, pleasant enough. My skin after use didn’t feel dried out but also didn’t feel particularly moisturised or treated. Did it look or feel smoother? There wasn’t a noticeable difference from before using this scrub to after.

    Recommended?

I thought Dirty Works Foam At Last Coconut Foaming Sugar Scrub was ok. There was nothing about this product that made me go ‘wow’. From the packaging, fragrance, consistency or the result on my skin, it was just ok. I didn’t enjoy it or love using it. It just didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I’ve used better and cheaper body scrubs which were amazing, so I wouldn’t purchase this myself. This would probably suit more a pre-teen, teenager who wants to use something that’s fun but not looking for a particular result, if that makes sense? But for a serious body scrub lover or addict? Pass.

But if you were interested in purchasing this product, it’s available on the high street and online from various places such as Sainsbury’s and Amazon. For the 250g version (mine is 50g) this retails for around £4.50.
