  • Bespoke London’s Wild Herbs & Tonka Bean EDP For Men

The days of buying fragrances for just myself are over! I now have to buy them for my daughter and my son as well. They both have a decent collection that’s been added to over time. Since my son is officially a teenager, I will treat him to more grown up fragrances for special occasions e.g birthday’s, which will go beyond a body spray or mist. On his last birthday I bought him from Superdrug, Bespoke London’s Wild Herbs & Tonka Bean Eau de Parfum. At the time it was half price and cost £4.98.

Bespoke London’s Wild Herbs & Tonka Bean Eau de Parfum
    Why did I buy this?

I enjoy finding new fragrances and brands. Opting for the usual ones on the market isn’t my style. The fragrance description on the website sounded interesting, it smelt nice in the store (yes I paid it a visit!) and the price was perfect for a young teen! I didn’t want to spend too much so I was SOLD!

    Packaging

I love how this looks. 100ml of fragrance comes in a chunky, glass cylinder shaped bottle. It’s blue in colour but transparent. The box it comes in is in the same shade of blue. It’s very cleanly presented and I think any aged recipient would like this.

    How does this smell?

There’s an earthy, lightly woody and marine style scent to this. Its fresh and clean but there’s a delicate sweetness added. This killer combination is why I use this myself despite it clearly being masculine in style and scent.

    Strength & Longevity

The strength of this is perfect in my opinion, and it’s a medium. If it was strong I think it would be too heady and way too noticeable. I would smell my son before he entered a room and I don’t want him to be overwhelmed in fragrance and neither should he.

Longevity is decent. When my son uses this or I ‘borrow’ it, we apply this onto clothes not onto skin. And I can still smell it hours later although the strength isn’t the same as first applied.

    Does my son like this?

Most parents will know that young teenagers rarely do things they don’t want to do and my son happily uses this! A few sprays before school, on the way out of the house and when he realises his own personal odour isn’t great he will grab this. So it’s safe to say he likes this.

    Recommended?

Oh yes! Don’t always head towards designer fragrances because there will always be gems out there you would never know existed if you didn’t look! This is a good size, looks nice, smells beautiful and the price means the men (or women, it layers nicely with more feminine fragrances) in your life will smell great without it costing a fortune! Ideal purchase for a pre/teen and great for those conscious of cost!

This fragrance along with others in the range are currently half price at Superdrug. Great time to purchase while priced so well. Available here and it’s worth a mention there’s also a women’s subrange too…..

  • Want a Glow Up? Beauty Laundrette’s Radiate & Glow Sheet Mask

There’s so many skincare products on the market these days. Which ones should you purchase? There’s one product I’ve found that’s easy to say yes or no to and that’s a sheet mask. The reason why I buy them is because they’re bit of fun and perfect for pampering. They’re not used on a daily basis and what I want is a hit of hydration and to make my face ‘look’ and feel better on a temporary basis. I’m confident most people buy these for the same reasons as me. I bought Beauty Laundrette’s Radiate & Glow Sheet Mask from Superdrug last year when it was half price. This usually costs £3.00.

Beauty Laundrette Radiate & Glow Sheet Mask
    Why did I buy this?

The range was new to me at the time and consisted of bath, body and a bit of skincare. So I decided to buy bits from all of these areas. They were on promotion so great price, I liked the product description and each piece looked appealing, including this sheet mask.

What is this supposed to do?

This sheet mask is designed to hydrate, smooth the skin and give it an overall better, radiant appearance.

    Packaging

Like most sheet masks this comes in a a packet. What I love about how this looks is it’s fun! It’s pale pink with red detailing and the front looks like a washing machine. It stands out, it’s different and ties in perfectly with the brand.

    How to use

Unfold mask, place it onto the skin and leave on for 15 minutes. Pat serum into skin that remains or wipe off with a cotton pad.

    Fragrance

I expected this mask to smell like the other products I’ve used from Beauty Laundrette. The body mist, bath fizzer and body wash all had the same scent. This doesn’t. This mask definitely has a floral fragrance to it. It reminds me a little of cherry blossom but a little more plant like rather than flower, if that makes sense? It smells really nice.

    In Use

When I took this sheet mask out of it’s packet, I have to say this literally was DRIPPING in serum/solution! I left a physical trial of it as I opened it in one room and then dashed to another to apply it. It was soaking in solution, exceptionally moist and wet. It wasn’t too hard to unfold this. The shape and look of this is quite typical of sheet masks.

When I put this onto my face it clung to it with ease. No wonder with it being so wet! The mask sat on my face very comfortably and the moisture was an absolute joy to experience. Very cooling and relaxing.

I did worry the fragrance would be too much. Despite the fact I actually like it, any fragrance sat on the face for a while can be a turn off. I had no issue with this but a fragrance free version would be a hit in my opinion.

    Skin afterwards

Taking this off I was surprised how much serum was still on my face. There was a lot! And I was happy about this! I patted as much as I could into my skin while drawing some of it down to my neck and left the rest to sink in. My skin felt incredibly moisturised. Not caked in a heavy solution but there was an obvious layer of something on my skin. Touching my skin it did feel tacky but what would you expect with so much serum/solution left behind?

Did my skin look massively ‘radiant’? It looked shiny! Healthy..possibly? NOT dry but well moisturised! This wasn’t sinking in quickly after application so left it to go to bed.

The morning after the night before

My skin looked and felt rested, very smooth when touched. It still felt hydrated but not in the ‘covered with a layer of serum’ way it did when this was applied. Totally matt and ready for the day ahead.

    Recommended?

Yes! This is standard price for sheet masks so not costly, and this range are regularly on a promotion in Superdrug (so even better!). So there’s no issue with cost. Packaging is super cute and the mask itself is crazily hydrated and nice to wear and use. I wouldn’t recommend this if your skin has issues with fragrance or you don’t like the feeling of a layer on your skin (although you could remove the excess as suggested). But I would buy Beauty Laundrette’s Radiate & Glow Sheet Mask again in a heartbeat, especially during a heatwave!

  • Pure & Co Peony & Water Lily Eau de Toilette

There was a time I could buy a perfume or body fragrance and it would last me months and months. Now my mini me has decided to give herself a spritz or 10 at every opportunity, so my fragrances seem to get lower and lower as the days go by. But thankfully I try to have a small reserve of fragrances hidden away just in case. I’ve decided to start using Pure & Co’s Peony & Water Lily Eau De Toilette. Bought from Boots, it’s currently priced at £15.00 for 50ml.

Pure & Co’s Peony & Water Lily Eau de Toilette

    Why did I buy this?

I bought this fragrance in a gift set which included a candle. At the time, these sets were half price, and I thought they were great value and great future gifts. The scent description I thought seemed quite pretty and appealing and I hoped they would be liked by those receiving this as a present.

    Packaging.

Almost square in shape with rounded corners. Clear, with the brand logo and fragrance simply printed on the front. The lid is wooden with what looks like cork inside to keep it snug around the spray dispenser section. It’s not fussy in appearance, quite cute and very understated. I like it!

    Fragrance.

Quite unusual, or at least it is when sitting in my collection of fragrances. I can smell equal parts of white florals and a pepperiness to this eau de toilette. The floral being quite light, clean and slightly feminine. The pepper giving it a spiciness and warmth to the overall scent. It’s an interesting combination, but I’m not convinced the floral part comes through enough. It needs to be stronger, and I feel another element needs to come in because I don’t think these two elements alone are making it well rounded enough. I don’t hate this fragrance but I don’t love it either.

    Strength & Longevity.

One thing I’ve discovered is fragrances that are florals and more so white florals, will give a fresh feel to a scent. They can also be quite soft in strength too. This isn’t the strongest scent I’ve ever smelt and is very light. In fact too light. Longevity isn’t amazing. It didn’t last very well, and I have to apply a lot of this onto myself regularly. For my daughter though this was good. I don’t want her wearing something too strong and overpowering. Light and delicate is ideal for her because she is a child, but it gives her the idea she is wearing something nice and more importantly smells nice too.

    Recommended?

This scent won’t be for everyone. And not everyone is like me who wants a strong in your face scent. But if you want something subtle, quite fresh but unusual you would like this. But the price is the drawback and how long it lasts. For £15.00 I would expect this, regardless of how delicate in scent, to last well or at least longer than it did. If it doesn’t, surely you could find a body mist literally a tenth of this price that would last the same if not better? So unless this is on a special offer or promotion I would say go for another alternative. I bought this when it was on sale in a gift set but I would be very annoyed if bought full price with how it delivered.

If this does rock your fragrance boat, you can get this from Boots here. This is just the fragrance remember and not the gift set I purchased. There’s also different fragrances from the same brand available, and body mists which maybe a good and cheaper alternative to this.

  • Beauty Laundrette’s Detox Dip Bath Fizzer

Having a bath, a proper bath, is an experience. And one in my opinion that should last at least 30 minutes. Anything less than that is a waste of time and product. Surely a person deserves half an hour to themselves to relax? So you will never hear me utter an apology of how long I’m in the bath for or how many bath bombs, fizzers, scoops or foaming baths I own. I thought it was time to try out Beauty Launderette’s Detox Dip Bath Fizzer bought from Superdrug, that’s been hiding away in my stash for way too long. Normal price is £4.00, I got this when it was half price for £2.00.

Beauty Laundrette’s Detox Dip Bath Fizzer

    Why did I buy this?

This was a new range for me at the time, and because it covered bath, body, fragrance and skincare, I couldn’t help but try a product from each of these areas. With this bath fizzer, I did want to see how good the quality of it was. If it was good, it could potentially be an affordable repeat purchase for the future.

    Packaging.

The Detox Dip Bath Fizzer comes in a light turquoise coloured square box. Like the rest of the range, it’s packaged in a way that’s connected with doing your laundry and this box is styled to look like a basic washing machine. Very cute and is set off thanks to lettering and details being in red. The fizzer itself you can see from a circular hole at the front, is plastic wrapped.

    How does it look?

A super soft shade of lilac with a delicate and pretty shimmer to it. Round in shape, good decent size (quite standard for bath bombs to be fair) and not too heavy. No other details. Plain but pretty.

    Fragrance.

If you’ve tried their body mist in this range it has the same scent. It’s a collection of white florals, so quite fresh, clean, a little sweet but not too much. Very pleasant and very pretty, not old fashioned at all. And not too heavy in strength.

    How to use.

As you would with any bath fizzer or bath bomb, pop this under warm running water in the bath and enjoy.

    In the bath.

Oh this little fizzer fizzed and spun around in the water as soon as it got popped in! Twisted and turned while slowly making the bath water go from clear to pink. There was the smallest and thinnest froth made but no real bubbles. But in all fairness I didn’t expect this to turn into a bubble bath anyway. This fizzer took what felt like forever to go to bath fizzer heaven and totally disappear. Once gone it left a lovely coloured bath ready for chill time.

    Bath time!

The fragrance was there immediately from when this was placed in the bath. I didn’t think it would be so strong. I expected it to be very light but it was obvious and there. In fact, it travelled from the bathroom through the hallway down to the bottom of the stairs. This was of a good strength, with longevity and thoroughly enjoyable.

Bathing in this was relaxing. The colour and the fragrance really made it for me. I can be very picky with bath bomb type products and on the whole I prefer bubbles and a very hydrating bath, but not all bath bombs or fizzers are designed to create this. So for what it was it did really well. Didn’t irritate my skin which is suffering a bit from psoriasis at the moment, and didn’t dry it out.

    Recommended?

This is a good quality bath bomb. From how it’s packaged to how it looks thumbs up. Despite it being very simple in shape and design, it still is very pretty as the shimmer makes it stand out. Fragrance is beautiful. I like it more in this fizzer than the actual body mist which is funny as it’s identical! And lastly, it’s usual price isn’t earth shatteringly expensive so great for gift giving to yourself or others. Even better when on special offer which the range regularly is. So it’s recommended from me definitely!
