  • P.Louise Foaming Face Wash Dupes In Home Bargains?

You would have to be living under a rock to not have heard of the brand P.Louise. I discovered them through my teenage daughter when she was obsessed with their lip products. As a brand, they have a large range of skin, body and fragrance products that seemed to be more geared towards a younger market. Packaging is eye catching, products seem to be more on the fun side rather than serious and price points being above average. So I’m not totally surprised to find a foaming face wash in Home Bargains that has a P.Louise-esq look and feel to it. So what is it like?

P.Louise Foaming Face Wash Dupes In Home Bargains
What is this supposed to do?

LPerfect Fun & Foaming Face Wash is formulated to cleanse the skin but in a gentle way. Containing fruit extracts and castor oil, this facial wash is meant to clean without stripping the skin of its natural oils.

    Packaging

This face wash is 150ml in size. It comes in a plastic pump action bottle that has a brush applicator at the top to help apply the wash and perform a mild exfoliation. Brightly coloured, almost child like with cartoon fruits on the labels. It stands out, but geared more for a younger market not for anyone looking for serious skincare.

    Cheeky Cherry Foaming Face Wash
    Different versions?

I spotted two versions of this face wash. One was Cheeky Cherry, the other Wonderful Watermelon. The only differences I could see in the formulations was each had a fruit extract included in its ingredient list: one cherry the other watermelon. I can imagine they both are fragranced in their namesakes, with the colouring of the packaging reflecting the fragrance as well.

How are these similar to P.Louise Foaming Cleansers?

Packaging has a slight look of the P.Louise version. How this is bottled with the applicator is pretty much the same, and the bright labelling could be classified as being inspired by. The fruity aspect of the wash definitely has dupe written all over it, as the foaming face washes from P.Louise is fruity or food based as well.

    Wonderful Watermelon Foaming Face Wash
    Price

    £1.99 for 150ml.

    LPerfect Vs P.Louise

Price: LPerfect £1.99 P.Louise £15.00 (from their website).

Fragrances/versions: LPerfect, 2 (that I’ve seen in Home Bargains, could be more!), P.Louise, 14.

Packaging: Labelling/illustrations looks very cheap and aimed at children from LPerfect. P.Louise much more thought has been put into it’s aesthetics and would appeal to pre teens, teens and young adults. Much more attractive to the eye.

    Will I buy this?

No! Honestly? I don’t find anything about this product appealing. It’s not made for someone like me and definitely NOT for my skin! I wouldn’t buy this for my teenage daughter either because she doesn’t need it. A simple, basic, formulation without colours and fragrances will be just fine for her. But this product will appeal to some out there wanting a more affordable product based on a more expensive brand. Yes, this is cheaper than the PLouise version, but is it any better? I’m not willing to find out!

  • More Sol de Janerio Body Mist Dupes in Primark?

As a lover of a good body mist, I’m not mad there’s loads of them available on the high street. But more Sol de Janerio body mist dupes? Hmmm. I’m not bothered if they’re dupes or not at this stage. As long as they smell nice, that’s my main concern. My second is being affordable, which Primark’s current selection of body mists are. So what do they have available to buy?

    Primark’s Hair & Body Mists
    Fragrances

The fragrances that I found in my local store were:

Rio Romance – Pear & Amber

Capri Coast – Jasmine & Brown Sugar

Fiji Fiesta – Apple & Coconut

Bali Blush – Pineapple & Sandalwood

All of these fragrances seem perfect for summer wearing. Fruity, tropical and sweet scents is what many people like to use during warmer weather. And these fragrance types tick that box.

Primark’s Bali Blush Hair & Body Mist
    Packaging

Each fragrance comes in a plastic, spray topped bottle that is clear but coloured: red, purple, green and pink. I’m not sure if it’s the bottle that’s coloured or the fragrance itself, but the products stand out and are eye catching. I can see why they’re popular. Very simple in look but overall decent packaging as they will appeal to different age ranges but definitely the younger ones.

Primark’s Rio Romance Hair & Body Mist
    How do they smell?

I managed to have a cheeky sniff of one, although can’t remember which! The one I smelt was fruity, sweet and tropical. Very pleasant, nothing incredible but did the job of a nice smelling body mist.

Primark’s Fiji Fiesta Hair & Body Mist
    Price

Each hair and body mist is 100ml and costs £3.50. This is reasonably priced. But if you’re looking for more fragrance and/or fragrance that costs less, there are plenty which offer slightly better value e.g Aldi, Home Bargains and Lidl. But the size and shape of this fragrance makes it a good size to carry and use on the go. I find some on the market are too big and bulky to slip into a pocket, so this is a happy medium.

Primark’s Capri Coast Hair & Body Mist
    Will I buy these?

I’m not sure. All of the fragrances appeal to me, and the mists aren’t expensive. I would be curious to see if they bring out scents geared towards autumn and winter in the next few months. Possibly then I would try them out!

  • B&M’s Sol de Janerio Dupe Fragrance Mists

Everywhere we go on the high street there’s a dupe of Sol de Janerio perfume/fragrance mists. Whether it’s the bottles, fragrances or names, many are trying to cash in on this popular brand and product by giving the customers a much cheaper alternative. Is this a bad thing? Clearly not, as we’re lapping up all these dupes like crazy! But I think the market is very saturated. People aren’t buying them with the same speed and energy they did when these dupes originally came out. I stumbled across more dupes of this brand in my local B&M store. What did they have to offer?

B&M’s Sol de Janerio Fragrance Mist Dupes
    Fragrances

There were three fragrances I found in B&M. Coconut, Salted Caramel Vanilla and Watermelon.

    Packaging

All three come in the same plastic spray topped bottles but are coloured differently. Salted Caramel Vanilla is orange, Watermelon is red and Coconut blue. Honestly? These body mists look very cheap. Very little thought has been put into how they look. There’s much better looking dupe body mists on the market compared to these. I don’t find these appealing to look at.

    Salted Caramel Fragrance Mist
    Price & Size

Price for these fragrance mists is £2.99. Coconut and Salted Caramel Vanilla are 150ml whereas Watermelon is 145ml. These sizes aren’t too big to carry around and hopefully should last a while if the fragrance mists are decent in strength and longevity.

    Coconut Fragrance Mist
    How do they smell?

I found find a tester or a bottle that was already opened and rather than spray it I sniffed it. Which fragrance it was I can’t remember. But I do recall it was fruity, not massively memorable but not the worst I’ve ever smelt, just ok.

    Watermelon Fragrance Mist
    First impressions?

You shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover but this is one very cheap looking book! These could be the most amazing scents known to man but I find these bottles not great to look at. Considering these are £2.99, more care and thought should have been put behind how these look. Do I want to try these out? From look alone no. Scents available limited and not interesting. I’ve seen 99p body sprays and mists look much better so quite disappointed in these. I don’t think these will be on my purchase list.

  • Are We Now Bored Of Dupes?

You can’t step into any high street store without stumbling on a dupe. The market seems saturated with fragrances, body care and skincare products that are ‘inspired’ by well known brands. Whether it’s the packaging, product name, scent or all of the above, there are LOTS of look-a-likes available to buy. But do we still love a dupe or have they become boring?

    Dupes!
More and more dupes of brands are available

Dupes have been around for a long time. But over the last few years what’s been available has increased. The most popular dupe in my opinion has got to be body mists inspired by the brand Sol de Janerio. They’re available everywhere! From Home Bargains to Lidl to even Primark. All affordably priced with scents and packaging similar to the original brand. Now we’re seeing dupes of brand such as L’Occitane, Molton Brown and even LUSH ready to be purchased. More products, more copied brands means more choices.

    Designer Fragrances Men’s Body Sprays
    Prices

Regardless of the economy, more expensive brands will always be purchased. But having cheaper counterparts is something most people are happy to grab, especially if on a budget.

    Price comparisons:

    L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Hand Cream 150ml £29.00 v Lidl’s Shea Hand Cream 100ml £2.49.

    Aveeno Hand Cream 75ml £5.99 v Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Hand Cream 75ml 69p

Sol de Janerio Body Mists 90ml £24.00 v Home Bargains Glow Perfume Mists £2.99

These are literally just a few examples of price differences which are compelling. Very attractive alternatives for people who want to spend less.

    Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel
    Cost before quality?

There are some products that are poorly and cheaply packaged with only a hint of resemblance of something else. Ingredients most people have found aren’t identical and in some cases not even similar. Do we expect these carbon copies costing a few pounds to stand toe to toe with the costly originals? In my experience it’s been hit and miss with what I’ve bought. And you have to expect true, performance similarities aren’t guaranteed. But the cheap price is.

    Lidl’s Luxury Spa Body Wash
    Availabilty

You can buy dupes from anywhere. Supermarkets, discount stores, instore, online. Stock levels can be all over the place, but I find once the hysteria and social media posts die down on the latest finds, it’s easier to pick up certain dupes. An added bonus is that some dupes are stocked constantly rather than being limited edition or seasonal, so always there.

    Glow’s perfume mist
    So….are we bored yet?

Personally, I’m bored of products being housed in cheap packaging to make people think its from brand xyz. It actually makes me not want to buy them. Also, seeing the same types of dupes in stores is a bit of a turn off. But if they’re affordable and have a slight look, smell and description of something more expensive, people will continue to buy them.

    Dupes are here to stay.
