  • My New Simple Brightening Gel Cream

My skincare products have been the same for awhile now. Although issues with my skin haven’t got worse and in fact seem to have improved, it’s time for a switch up! Buying new skincare products to give your routine a boost can be costly depending on what you’re replacing, how many products your changing and where you buy them from. But I haven’t had that problem. My latest new skincare product slotted in to my routine is Simple’s Brightening Gel Cream bought from Home Bargains. So…what is it like?

    Simple’s Brightening Gel Cream
    Why did I buy this?

I bought this because I would like my skin to look a little more brighter and less dull. The usual product I use as a face cream deals with moisturising but that’s pretty much it! No other added benefits. I hoped this would deliver something a little more.

What is this supposed to do?

Simple’s Brightening Gel Cream is formulated to brighten tired looking skin. It’s supposed to leave the skin moisturised, look and feel softer and smoother, giving the skin a natural but healthier look. All of this done using a light formulation.

    Cost & size

£2.99 for 50ml. Simple facial moisturisers tend to cost around the £9.99 price point unless on a price promotion.

    Packaging

50ml of cream comes in a pot that’s boxed. Very simple in appearance but appealable to any age or sex. Coloured in white and orange, which reminds me of Revolution Skincare packaging. The difference in colouring of packaging with the Simple ranges makes it easy to identify what sub-range they are from, which is handy.

    Ingredients

Includes – glycerin, niacinamide and ginger root.

    Consistency & fragrance

Simple’s Brightening Gel Cream is white in colour, silky smooth in look and has hold in the pot. To look at it, it looks quite rich. There’s no wobbly or movement to it. But in between the finger tips it has an almost gel like feel to it, very light weight, but has slip. Not watery in consistency. Thicker and heavier than a gel, more light weight than some creams.

Fragrance wise, there isn’t one. Most Simple products don’t include artificial fragrances. So this is ideal for those who don’t want their facial products to have a scent.

    On the face

I use this after cleansing and in the morning before sun cream (yes, I use sun protection ALL YEAR ROUND!). On the fingertips, this feels very light and gel like. When I first used this I thought this wouldn’t be moisturising. But placed onto the skin it immediately felt very moisturising, slightly cooling and protective. The slip in this cream was a richness that was there during application and stayed on the skin afterwards. My face looked moisturised, not dry, or greasy, just hydrated and it felt it too. This feeling didn’t disappear whether that was during the day or overnight. It’s very easy to use too much of this because the texture is misleading. But this is a rich cream without being rich and I love it!

Has this given me a glow?

I’ve only been using this for a few days so can’t see any specific changes in my skin. But what I would say is I enjoy using this, my skin feels supple and feels and looks moisturised, which is the least I expect from a facial moisturiser.

    Recommended?

I really like Simple’s Brightening Gel Cream! It’s rich without being heavy and greasy. It’s moisturising and protective yet sinks in well. Quick and easy to use and I enjoy using this! There’s nothing worse than using products on the face and body and not enjoying the experience. This I really like. So much so after the first time I used it I bought another pot a few days later!

If you want a moisturiser that moisturisers, and you need something that really delivers but isn’t heavy, this could be the one. It’s not a fancy product but it’s a good one. I’m interested to see if this does provide a ‘glow’ that I need, so watch this space!

  • Affordable Bath & Shower Products In Home Bargains To Use This Winter!

Products we use on the body can vary from season to season. Lighter textures maybe used in summer, richer consistencies in winter. Fresh and clean scents in spring but maybe more tropical, fruity of floral fragrances in summer. Fragrance is a massive thing which a lot of people change for different seasons. I’ve spotted body care products in Home Bargains that have winter in mind because of their fragrances. So what did I find?

Affordable Bath & Shower Products In Home Bargains To Use This Winter
    Original Source’s Sugar Plum Shower

If a shower gel in the fragrance of Sugar Plum doesn’t say winter, nothing else will! It should be fruity, sweet and the fact the shower gel is purple in colour has me sold! 99p for 250ml.

    Original Source’s Sugar Plum Shower
    Original Source’s Spiced Pumpkin Shower

Probably more an autumn fragrance but still carries well into winter. Anything pumpkin is warming and cosy, and Spiced Pumpkin in this shower gel formulation should do just the same. 99p for 250ml.

    Original Source’s Spice Pumpkin Shower
Imperial Leather’s Cherry & Snow Blossom Hand Wash

Limited edition, Cherry & Snow Blossom is on the shelves ready to use this winter. What I like is the fact this comes in a hand wash, shower gel, foam body wash and bath wash. So you have a variety of different products to choose from to suit your need, all in the same fragrance. In the hand wash formulation, it’s a generous size of 500ml at a good price of £1.49.

Imperial Leather’s Cherry & Snow Blossom Hand Wash
Astonish Honeyed Fig & Almond Shower Gel

Fruity, sweet and comforting is what springs to mind with a fragrance of Honeyed Fig & Almond. This comes in a shower gel, bath soak and hand wash. 89p for 250ml.

Astonish’s Honeyed Fig & Almond Shower Gel
Carex Festive Edition Frosted Eucalyptus & Cedar Bath & Shower Gel

Lots of the winter fragranced products are on the sweeter, fruiter side, but not Carex’s Festive Edition Frosted Eucalyptus & Cedar Bath & Shower Gel. It’s a fresher, earthy slightly cooling fragrance which is probably more traditional for the winter season. 99p for 500ml.

Carex Festive Edition Frosted Eucalyptus & Cedar Bath & Shower Gel

So out with the tropical fruity fragrances of summer and in strolls in the autumn and winter fragrances ready for a more cosy time period. Personally, I can’t wait!

  • Under £3.00 Face Facts Ceramide Foaming Cleanser

Cleansers aren’t the most exciting products in a skincare routine, but they do an important job. There’s nothing nicer than getting rid of all the dirt, grime, sun cream and make-up from the day and leaving clean skin. Or refreshing the skin in the morning. I don’t change up my cleansing routine with new cleansers regularly. I tend to stick with whatever works at that moment. But I’ve recently changed my daily cleanser from AldI’s Lacura Moisturising Face Wash to Face Facts Ceramide Foaming Cleanser. So what is it like?

    Face Facts Ceramide Foaming Cleanser
Firstly, why did I buy this?

I ran out of the Lacura face wash and saw this one sat on a shelf in Home Bargains. I actually was open to changing my cleanser to one that was less basic in formulation and had some extra ingredients in it, that could help my skin a bit more. I thought this could be perfect. And on top of that fragrance free (which I like), and budget friendly at only £2.99.

    Ingredients

This cleanser contains ceramides (protects skin and helps to lock in moisture), niacinamide (helps boost hydration, anti-inflammatory so calming on the skin) and hyaluronic acid (helps keep in moisture). No fragrance included, and this formulation is designed for dry and sensitive skin.

    Packaging

400m of product comes in a white pump action dispenser. Simple in design and has a slight resemblance of some CeraVe products. The packaging isn’t fancy but it’s practical, which will appeal to any age or sex and will sit nicely in any bathroom.

    Fragrance

It’s fragrance free so no scent! Although, it does have a scent as such which some products have when they are fragrance free. It’s a hard one to explain but it smells of something but nothing at the same time!

    On the skin

On damp skin I use two pumps of this cleanser and rub it into my face. It doesn’t foams up very well. It foams slightly but not much. But after rinsing off my skin does feel fresh, clean and smooth. If I use this in the evening I will repeat this twice and double cleanse.

When I first used this for a few days I found my skin felt a little tight, almost dry, although it wasn’t. But this has now disappeared after using this for over a week and my skin seems much more comfortable.

    Do I like this?

At first I didn’t think this was moisturising enough, and it wasn’t. But now no issues. If I could improve this I would like more foaming. It is called a foaming cleanser! Having more foam and creaminess to this when applied to damp skin would make me enjoy using this more. But my skin seems and looks clean, and I actually think my skin looks a touch better for using this.

    Recommended?

If you’re looking for a cleanser which is quick, easy to use, fragrance free but you need a little more compared to a basic formulation, this could be that product. Great for someone who wants a simple skincare routine, a good one for guys and overall someone who doesn’t want to fuss about with products. And perfect if you don’t want to spend a lot as well. Only £2.99 for 400ml from Home Bargains.

  • I Think I Love Q+A’s Oat Milk Cream Cleanser

There is nothing that excites me more than finding a new skincare product I like. Not just like in regards to results, but actually enjoy using. So I think I’ve already given away whether the product I’m reviewing today is on my hit or miss list! I’ve just started to use Q+A’s Oat Milk Cream Cleanser, bought from my local Tesco. On sale for £4.50, originally £7.50. So what is it like?

    Q+A Oat Milk Cream Cleanser
    Why did I buy this?

I’ve used products from Q+A before and thought they were good quality skincare products. I’ve wanted to try their Oat Milk Cream Cleanser when it was first released but never got the chance. Seeing this for under £5.00 I HAD to buy it! The reason I wanted to try this was because I love oat as an ingredient on my skin, fragrance free which I need and this sounded nourishing not stripping.

    What does this do?

Q+A’s Oat Milk Cream Cleanser removes dirt and make-up gently while leaving the skin fresh and clean. Designed for any skin type, but will help to calm irritated skin, nourish not strip and hydrate while cleaning.

    Packaging

125ml of this cleanser comes in a flip topped plastic tube. Simple but striking in look, with how to use and what it is clearly stated on the front.

    Consistency & Texture

This cleanser is white in colour, cream like but with a little thickness to it as it holds it shape once squeezed out.

    On the face

The directions say you can apply this to a dry or damp face but I opted for damp. This rubbed into my skin like a dream, and felt similar to a hot cloth cleanser but with a little more slip to it, like a balm. Beautiful, almost treatment like, I knew in the first few seconds of using this I would love it! It was so nice to apply I could have sat there for much longer just moving it around and over my skin. To remove, I used a warm damp face cloth and wiped it off. My skin felt fresh, clean, but definitely hydrated. I didn’t feel an immediate need to moisturise as my skin didn’t feel it needed it. This cleanser removed dirt, eyebrow pencil and sun cream, easily and quickly.

    Recommended?

If you like a more traditional facial cleanser e.g a face wash, then you probably won’t like this. But if you love your cleanser to have texture, you enjoy using balms, oils, hot cloth cleansers and you want something that’s kind and gentle to your skin, buy this!

Q+A’s Oat Milk Cream Cleanser can be purchased from various places, including direct from Q+A, Holland & Barratt and Sainsbury’s.
