  • Affordable Stocking Fillers For Christmas Under £4.00

    Whether the word ‘Christmas’ brings you out in a sweat or not, it’s coming. Most of us will now be thinking about what to buy our nearest and dearest whereas some have already started purchasing gifts. But what stocking fillers are on the high street that won’t put our credit card into meltdown? I’ve been keeping my eyes open for affordable items that can be purchased if you are looking for pampering products for friends, colleagues, family members and even teens. So what did I find?

    I’ve used these and they are great! Easy to use, moisturising, cooling and will give the under eye area a temporary pick me up. Ideal for those who love under eye patches/masks, enjoy using skincare and those who are simply tired and need a pampering! A winner as well for pre-teens/teenagers. Only 99p at Home Bargains.

    W7 Foot Mask, Exfoliating Foot Mask Treatment & Hand Mask Treatment

    These are perfect products for those who maybe use their hands a lot or on their feet for long durations. Or just for those people who like to look after their hands and feet! These are nice and flat so easy to post reasonably cheaply if the recipient isn’t local. Maybe a nice treat to buy all three of these, wrap or place in a card. I found these in Tesco for £2.00 each.

    Who would have thought M&S would be a good place to grab hand care products that weren’t only effective, packaged nicely AND not expensive? I find these items can get lost in my local store but if you spot them definitely worth grabbing. I’ve personally used their Shea Butter & Honey Hand Balm and thought it was a lovely product. Both hand cream and hand balm are £2.00 each.

    M&S Body Scrub & Body Butter

    These are two products I really want to try. The body butter is the same fragrance as the hand cream which together would make a good small gift. But there is something about how the Coconut Body Scrub is packaged (glass jar) that screams luxury to me, but without the price tag. Both cost £3.50 each with the scrub weighing 100g and the body butter 200g.

    Treacle Moon’s Warm Winterberry Nights Shower and Bath Gel

    I’ve used many Treacle Moon products in the past and they have all been great quality. Warm Winterberry is a new fragrance which I haven’t used but gave it a sniff and the scent is TO DIE FOR! If you love your bath and shower products to be fruity and mouth watering, this is for you! This was in my local Tesco store for £1.95 for 500ml.

    So these are just a few gift ideas that many people can grab from stores local to them. A good time saver if you’re already in a store doing a normal shop anyway (which as a busy mum I love!). All of these are affordable, pampering and easy to use. Great as stocking fillers, part of a gift basket, Christmas Eve box and dare I start mentioning teacher gifts…. Christmas gift giving doesn’t need to be expensive or stressful, so let’s make some purchases simple and cheap!

  • New Product Alert! Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Foot Cream

    Over the last few days in the UK we’ve experienced some warm and dry weather. Am I Spring let alone Summer ready? Nope! Just about dealing with hay fever let alone a change of wardrobe and feeling ready to shed a few layers of clothing. But I am trying to get my feet in order, hoping to slip into a pair of sandals in a month or two. And this is when Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Foot Cream could be helpful. I bought this around a month ago, along with Lacura’s Exfoilating Foot Scrub. The foot cream cost £2.99 for 125ml.

    Why did I buy this?

    I spotted this along with the scrub. Both new, both caught my eye and both were products I knew were needed and would be helpful slotted into my body care routine. I spend time and energy looking after my face. Moisturising my body is what I do twice a day everyday. But my feet? This is something I’m slowly getting better with but could do so much more time and product wise. I was hoping a cream designed for the feet would help moisturise and protect them better than a general body lotion.

    What is this supposed to do?

    This helps to moisturise and soften the feet thanks to it containing 15% Shea Butter and Coconut Oil. Suitable for dry skin.

    Is this a Dupe?

    Aldi have a bit of a history of bringing out products that are ‘inspired’ by other products and brands. The way this foot cream is packaged and containing 15% Shea Butter, makes me think of a brand called L’Occitane. Definitely some similarities here but NOT the same price! L’Occitane foot cream is £22.00 for 150ml!

    Texture

    When squeezed out of it’s tube it looks very thick because it holds it’s shape. But in use it’s more like a body lotion but slightly more thicker, although not by much. White in colour, totally smooth and opaque.

    Fragrance

    Identical to the foot scrub, this has a tea tree like fragrance so is fresh, clean with an aromatherapy type feel/scent to it.

    In Use

    It did appear very thick when I first used it, but found rubbing this into my feet it was actually looser and lighter in consistency. It rubbed in easily and left a slight sheen to the skin. I did feel the amount I originally took wasn’t enough, so I went in for a second blob to give them more moisture.

    Despite it’s high percentage of Shea Butter, it wasn’t too greasy. My first application gave my feet moisture but they needed more. They looked and felt a little improved but I think it should have been more. My feet were left with a subtle sheen to them. I didn’t think the hit of moisture from this foot cream was long lasting.

    The fragrance didn’t seem as strong when applied compared to the exfoliating scrub. I didn’t notice it much after application but I am suffering from a blocked nose right now so won’t focus so much on strength and longevity of this scent.

    My Final Thoughts

    This foot cream is ok. It doesn’t sound like I’m super impressed because I did expect a more hard hitting foot cream considering it’s high percentage of Shea Butter if I’m honest. And as already mentioned, I felt this didn’t give me the amount of moisture my feet needed instantly.

    Recommended?

    This is affordable, comes in a large size, fragrance is perfect for feet and packaging is stylish. It’s not too greasy in texture which some people will appreciate. Rubs in like a dream, super quick and easy. So if you’re looking for a decent and economical everyday foot cream for normal skin, this gets my thumbs up. Feet need more TLC and are drier? At this stage I’m not convinced this alone is good enough for this skin type (regardless what it says on the packaging) but could still be a family staple in the bathroom cabinet.

  • New Product Alert! Aldi’s Lacura Exfoliating Foot Scrub

    I love scrubs! There’s nothing more satisfying than slapping off dead, dry skin off the face and body and leaving it fresher and smoother in look and feel. I use an exfoliator for my face which I use once or twice a week. Body scrubs I adore but I should use them more often but I forget. But what about using one specifically for the feet? This isn’t something that was in my body care collection until recently, but felt it was needed. I purchased Aldi’s Lacura Exfoliating Foot Scrub under a month ago,for £4.99 for 300g.

    Why did I buy this?

    It actually is a product I need! My feet are neglected and they need lots of TLC. Genuinely, I don’t think any body scrubs I use currently are hard working enough on the feet, so a separate product is needed. This is a new product from Aldi so it already caught my attention. Also, it contains good moisturising ingredients and for the size and price this made such a good buy.

    What is this?

    An exfoliating scrub that will remove dead skin leaving skin softer and smoother plus moisturising the feet as well.

    Fragrance

    This smells like tea tree. Not identical to pure tea tree but similar. This scrub has a cooling feel to it fragrance wise. Clean in scent, almost aromatherapy like but not eye watering in strength. I like how this smells and perfect for the body parts it’s made for.

    Texture

    Not what you would expect. I thought this would be similar to a balm but it’s not. It’s white in colour, looks thick and solid and has a slight sheen to it. When I scooped some out and broke the surface, it actually was very soft, almost whipped in texture. I could feel the grains in it so it’s not totally smooth, but the texture is quite luxurious and has a slip to it.

    Ingredients

    Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Sweet Almond Oil), Sodium Chloride (Salt), Maris Sal (Dead Sea Salt), Glyceryl Stearate, Butyrosperium Parki Butter (Shea Butter), Parfum, PEG-20, Glyceryl Triisosterate, Linalool.

    In Use

    I used about a finger tip and a half of foot scrub per foot. Rubbing this in, I could feel how soft this scrub was as it melted and coated my feet. My feet looked like I had applied some form of oil or balm to it as it had a shine to them and an oily feel, yet had a slightly creamy look to it. While rubbing this in I did notice the particles that made the scrub weren’t all the same size or circular. Compared to a body scrub I would say these exfoliating pieces were slighter bigger and rougher, and with plenty in it.

    The fragrance was there while using this. With hay fever blocking my nose and making me sensitive to smells, this was very comforting and not irritating at all to take in.

    Feet After

    Bare in mind this was after one application. But my feet did look and feel smoother and softer. There was a difference, and I was pleased how semi human they looked after application compared to before. I didn’t follow it up with a foot cream, I just brought my Aveeno body lotion down from the body to my feet. I was very happy with the first application and excited to use it again.

    Negatives?

    Just the one! I really wish the exfoliant pieces in this weren’t so irregular in shape and size. They weren’t massive, but I think smoother particles would be nicer to use and safer if you are heavy handed in application.

    Recommended?

    I enjoyed using this. It’s a practical product but it was so nice to use. The texture was beautiful, easy to apply with a great scent to it. This product delivered what it was supposed to do just after one application. But to keep this up and see a better result, you would need to use this more and regularly. For the amount of product you get and the price I think this is great value and totally recommended! Ideal for general feet maintenance, perfect for getting feet Summer ready and I think the guys may like too!
