  • Everything Gingerbread This Christmas In Home Bargains!

A fragrance and visual design which is very popular this time of year and for Christmas, is gingerbread. Not surprising. The scent is perfect for colder seasons with it being spice heavy and warming. And the actual design of a gingerbread man is incredibly cute! So you will find lots of products that have this theme. I found ALOT in Home Bargains which could tick a lot of gifts off many people’s Christmas list. What did I spot in Home Bargains for home fragrance, bath and body products scented or inspired by gingerbread?

Ashton & Moore’s Gingerbread Biscuit Hand Wash

It’s great to see seasonal hand washes. Great for practical use and for gifting. This practical hand wash is nicely themed and packaged, incredibly generous in size at 750ml and only £1.49!

Wickford & Co’s Luxury Air Freshener

It’s easy to forget about fragrancing the car if you drive (I do). So it’s great to see seasonal scents available rather than the typical ones available all year. This is quite an attractive looking air freshener and only £1.49.

Wickford & Co’s Luxury Air Freshener
Wickford & Co’s Pack of 3 Air Fresheners

If you want other scents besides gingerbread, but still seasonal, this pack of 3 car air fresheners is perfect! This set includes gingerbread, warm apple & cinnamon and mulled wine. These air fresheners are the cardboard type which we’ve all used at some point, and costs only 99p.

    Candy Lane Gingerbread Reed Diffuser

Reed diffusers are a great home fragrance alternative to a candle or wax melt, and Candy Cane Gingerbread Reed Diffuser looks well made, great size of fragrance (100ml), and like all the other products I’ve seen well packaged to give as a gift. £2.99.

    Candy Lane Gingerbread Reed Diffuser
Wickford & Co’s Gingerbread Scented Gift Set

This possibly could be a new gift set for this year as I haven’t seen it before. But included in this is a reed diffuser (100ml) and a candle (125g). It’s a shame the box doesn’t have a similar colourway as the items inside it, in my opinion, but does look festive. £3.99.

Wickford & Co’s Gingerbread Scented Gift Set
Wickford & Co Gingerbread Wax Melts & Candles

Both the wax melts and the small jar candles are always popular. I’m not surprised because they both smell so good with a good strength to them both. I’ve used the wax melts and find these are really good, especially for only 79p. The jar candles are only 99p so equally just as cheap!

Wickford & Co Gingerbread Wax Melts & Candles

So these are just a few gingerbread inspired, scented or packaged home fragrance, bath and body care products I’ve found in Home Bargains. And guess what? All were under £4.00! So if this is a scent you want to gorge on for yourself or gifting, it might be worthwhile having a look at some of these products in your local store.

  • Wickford & Co’s Gingerbread Scented Wax Melts

As a wax melt lover, I tend to purchase wax melts from wax vendors. These are small businesses who make and sell their own wax melts in various shapes, sizes and scents. But sometimes a girl just wants one piece of wax, not a selection, to grab and melt at home in the space of an hour. And that’s why I purchased a few Autumnal inspired wax melts from the high street recently. One of those wax melts was Wickford & Co’s Gingerbread from Home Bargains. This cost 79p for 88g.

Wickford & Co’s Gingerbread Scented Wax Melts
    Why did I buy this?

Gingerbread as a fragrance is popular at this time of the year and flies off the shelf in Home Bargains in wax melt and candle form. But for some reason I’ve never actually tried it! I love this fragrance, I love wax melts and I love the 79p price tag so why have I not? Well, I have now…

    Appearance & Packaging

Wickford & Co’s wax melt is segmented into 8 cubes which need to be broken off to use and pop into a wax warmer. It looks like a very chunky chocolate bar even more so with it being a dark caramel colour. Its all one block colour with no glitter, no design, nothing, just plain.

The wax is housed in a plastic casing which keeps it protected and easy to store away. The label itself looks very festive and inviting.

    Fragrance

It smells of gingerbread definitely. You get the hit of ginger which is more bakery based rather than zingy fresh ginger, thanks to it’s sweetness and hints of spices and citrus. It’s a beautiful scent which isn’t too sweet and sickly and very comforting.

    In melt

I only used one cube of this in my wax warmer and it melted away evenly and released fragrance straight away. I’m so used to my wax melts having a shimmer to them, or creating a beautiful wax pool, which this didn’t.

    Strength & Longevity

The strength of this, one cube alone, I would say is on the verge of being strong. Strong not in an overpowering way but in an obvious, it’s there and cuts through other smells kind of way. I’ve had a leak through some new plaster work recently. It’s left a lingering damp, wet plaster smell which is very annoying! With this melting in the hallway I can barely smell it! Longevity is just as good as the strength. A few hours of melting and the strength and scent is exactly the same as when first put on.

    Recommended?

I’m not ashamed to say I’m a bit of a wax melt snob and look down at wax melts that are sold cheaply on the high street. But it’s safe to say I’m much more open minded now because this is really good! Nicely packaged, good amount of wax to melt, great fragrance which is a punchy one and is cheap! So if you love your gingerbread fragrance this should definitely be purchased!

  • Winter Scented Aldi’s Gingerbread Reed Diffuser

When you think of Winter fragrances, what comes to mind? Pine based scents which tend to be clean, fresh, slightly earthy and plant like? Or fruity scents mixed in with a little spice? One of my favourite fragrance families for this time of year has got to be bakery. The one that stands out above all others is gingerbread. So it should come as no surprise that I picked up Aldi’s Gingerbread Reed Diffuser last week. 50ml was £1.99 which went down to £1.49.

    Aldi’s Gingerbread Reed Diffuser
    Why did I buy this?

I love the scent of gingerbread and currently have NOTHING home fragrance wise scented in this. I’ve wanted to pick up this diffuser since it’s release a few months ago. In the end I grabbed this at the check out because it was lower in price, and thought my downstairs toilet would be a good place to put it.

    Packaging

The diffuser comes boxed, which is a lovely shade of brown with lots of festive detailing (baubles) in white and gold all over it. It has a traditional look to it but with a modern twist. Very appealing.

The bottle itself is rounded with a flat front, back and bottom. This shape is quite different compared to others on the market. Same brown colour as the box and the label mirrors some of the box labelling. Overall both box and bottle is packaged beautifully.

    How to Use

This reed diffuser comes with the bottle that holds the fragranced oil in it and 6 small and thin reeds. Before use you unscrew the collar on the bottle. Take out the stopper from the bottle, return the collar and place the reeds into it. Turn them around after 6-8 hours and it will take up to 36 hours for the fragrance to come through. Fragrance lasts up to 4 weeks.

    Fragrance

Aldi’s Gingerbread Reed Diffuser definitely has a gingerbread scent to it. It’s lightly spiced and warming with hints of ginger, cinnamon and mixed spice. There’s a little vanilla in this too. Overall there’s no mistaking this to be a bakery fragrance with it’s mix of spices, slightly sweetened with a touch of buttery goodness.

    In Use

I followed the instructions and placed this in my downstairs toilet but forgot to turn the reeds around. What I did find was I couldn’t get the fragrance straight away but the following morning I walked in and wondered why there was a gorgeous, delicate scent in there and then I remembered! It wasn’t a powerhouse fragrance, but it was noticeable and beautiful. Once I turned the reeds around the scent intensified but I wouldn’t call it strong.

I’ve been using this for a couple of days so I can’t comment on whether this really lasts up to the 4 weeks it states on the packaging. But what I can say is this does a decent job cutting through unpleasant smells (if you know what I mean!). It’s a scent that’s there and I have a feeling to get the most out of this the reeds need to be turned more frequently than the packaging suggests.

    Recommended?

If you love the scent of gingerbread and looking for a way to fragrance a very small area/room, this is a good option. The smell is great, how it’s presented is eye catching and it’s affordable. But I would probably buy this only when discounted. As much as I like this the scent it needs to be stronger. If this ticks your boxes then grab it ONLY if it’s reduced to £1.49 (even better if less). If you don’t like the gingerbread scent, want a strong fragrance and need to fragrance a large room, this isn’t something to put in your shopping basket.

  • Candy Cane Lane’s Gingerbread Jingle & Fluffy Marshmallow Reed Diffusers

Hearing Christmas songs from the start of November has not only hurt my ears but my soul too. I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t mind seeing Christmas related things early but not the music! Drives me absolutely crazy! I am however enjoying seeing the new Christmas inspired home fragrance products. I became particularly taken by some new reed diffusers in Home Bargains recently. I picked up Candy Cane’s Gingerbread Jingle and Fluffy Marshmallow Reed Diffusers for £1.99 each.

Home Bargain’s Candy Cane Lane Gingerbread Jingle & Fluffy Marshmallow Reed Diffusers

    Why did I buy these?

A few reasons. I’m falling in love with reed diffusers as a form of home fragrancing. The packaging for these totally drew me in because they are cute and festive but not in the traditional Christmas way. The scents I thought I would like, and the diffusers were affordable.

    Packaging.

Both come in a small and thin rectangular box. Gingerbread Jingle is mainly mint green in color whereas Fluffy Marshmallow is a light salmon pink shade. Both have silver holographic slightly raised patterns on them and a coloured pom pom stuck on the top each box. There’s an open window on the front of each box so you can see the actual diffuser.

Each bottle section of the diffuser is clear and transparent. But they have a label on them with illustrations mirroring the box each fragrance comes in. So Gingerbread Jingle has gingerbread men and woman all over it, snowflakes and trees. Fluffy Marshmallow has baubles and snowflakes decorating the label.

What do you get & how to use.

Each diffuser has the fragranced liquid/oil bottled and 6 short and thin reeds. Take the stopper from the bottle off, pop the reeds in the fragranced liquid and enjoy! The reeds will soak up the fragrance and release into the air.

    How do these smell?

Gingerbread Jingle smells surprisingly of gingerbread! You get ginger, warming spices (possibly cinnamon, nutmeg etc), sugar (although not too sweet). I like it! It’s not too ginger but it definitely is a bakery fragrance but the spices really make it come alive.

    Gingerbread Jingle Reed Diffuser

Fluffy Marshmallow I’m not sure whether I would call it marshmallow scented as such. It has a sweetness to it, almost sweety like. But seems to have a touch of vanilla in it as well. It’s not as complex as the Gingerbread version but if you like your sweet inspired scents you probably would like this.

    Fluffy Marshmallow Reed Diffuser

    Strength & Longevity.

I put each of the diffusers in different parts of my home. Gingerbread Jingle in my bedroom on the window sill, and Fluffy Marshmallow at the top of the stairs. Despite the fact the diffuser is quite small, Gingerbread performs really well in my bedroom which is a medium sized room. It’s not strong, but you get a good whiff of this and for this room the strength is perfect. So I would say it’s a medium. Fluffy Marshmallow I’ve had to move around quite a bit to see where it works best because the is light. I would have liked this to be stronger but think this is best suited to a small room or area not a large or open space. The diffuser itself is small and the scent not punchy but it does give off fragrance. Just not enough for me.

When it comes to longevity, I’ve been only been using these for 3 days so can’t say how long lasting they are. But so far so good, but Gingerbread is the clear winner!

    Recommended?

I really like these reed diffusers. The pom pom bit on the top of the packaging annoys me, but other than that their overall presentation is sweet and easy on the eye. Good choice of fragrance for this time of year, but clearly Gingerbread Jingle is the best in regards to it’s smell and strength. So I would recommend this one and I’ve even purchased a few for Christmas gifting too!

If you aren’t a fan of a reed diffusers but possible the fragrances mentioned, these do come in candle form as well! Just saying….don’t call me an enabler when you visit Home Bargains next!
