  • What I Bought My 14 Year Old Daughter For Her Birthday

Being a teenager today is totally different to being a teenager when I was growing up. When it came to fragrance and skincare, we spent our money in The Body Shop, on anything Dewberry, White Musk or Vanilla scented. Today’s teens don’t head to stores like this anymore. It’s places like Sephora or Selfridges they want to head to. But thankfully they still appreciate buying staples on the high street such as Boots and Superdrug. So with my daughter turning 14 this year, what were some of the things I bought her and why?

    Simple Skincare Gift Set

Simple as a brand has a great range of products for lots of people, including teens. Most products are colour, fragrance and soap free, so great for sensitive and young skin. This gift set I purchased contains a good, basic skincare routine. It includes a facial wash, moisturiser, sheet mask and head band.

    Revolution Beauty’s 24k Gold Make-up Pallet

My daughter loves make-up. At the age she is now it’s all about experimenting and finding her own style and flair. This pallet had a good mix of colours that weren’t too obvious, so could be used daily. Revolution Beauty always has a sale online, which includes make-up, so plenty of bargains for teens to grab.

    Avene’s Eau Thermale

I bought this for my daughter last year but in a smaller size, and she loved it. Avene’s Eau Thermale provides instant cooling on the skin. Ideal for skin that’s sensitive as it only contains spring water, and no other ingredient which may or may not be needed especially on teen skin. It’s an easy product to carry and use on the go if needed and perfect for Summer.

    Hair clips

I picked up various hair clips from Home Bargains and Superdrug (when they were on clearance). My daughter loves hair accessories and so do a lot of teenage girls. These are very inexpensive gifts but always appreciated. I got them in different colours and shapes, which she can use if and when needed.

    Make-up brushes

You can’t have make-up without brushes! I always find really affordable make-up brushes (which are branded) in Home Bargains. I bought her a blusher brush and eyebrow brushes.

Lotions & Potions (formally Glow) fine fragrances

Lotions & Potions fine fragrance products are dupes of well known scents. I bought my daughter Lady Million, which you can guess what THIS smells like (dupe alert)! Housed in an adorable, blue teddy bear shaped bottle (like another well known fragrance), I knew she would like the look and smell of this and she does!

Florence by Mills Wildy Me Eau de toilette

As a fan of Millie Bobby Brown, and a fragrance junkie, I HAD to buy this for my daughter! Normally I buy her body mists, but being 14 it was time to treat her to stronger scented formulations. A floral and woody scent which if I’m honest, isn’t something I like, but it’s different and nice for my daughter to try out. What we like fragrance wise can be similar but very different.

What do you think about the selection of products I bought my mini me? I can honestly say that except the items bought from Home Bargains, everything else was bought on sale or part of a special promotion. So although not my usual budget friendly purchases, they were the best prices I could get as I shopped around.

  • 3 Things I Buy My Teenage Daughter ALL THE TIME!

Having teenage children is… interesting! When they hit the pre-teen age, life as you now it changes FOREVER! As a mum of a teenage boy and girl, I have the daily pleasure of being kept on my toes, along with having to take out my credit to purchase everything for them every 5 seconds. There are 3 things I buy my daughter all the time, because in her own words ‘she needs them!’. So what can’t she live without?

3 Things I Buy My Teenage Daughter
    Blemish/Pimple Patches

When I was a teenager and I got a spot or 10, I just dealt with it. Now, my daughter covers her face in blemish/pimple patches. What’s strange is she’s not particularly spotty! These do work, I’ve tried them myself. They minimise the look of blemishes so I understand why they are useful. The patches my daughter uses are from the brand Face Facts and they come in a variety of shapes. So these are part skincare, part face fashion accessories.

    Hair Scrunchies & Bobbles

My house is littered in bobbles! Black ones, brown ones…they are everywhere! Very useful things for both myself and my daughter and you can never have too many of them. I buy her a pack of 6 from Home Bargains in different shades of pink and neutrals.

    Fragrances

When I use the word ‘fragrance’, most of the time it’s body mists. My daughter is as addicted to fragrance as I am. She takes them everywhere, especially to school. These can come in different sizes, shapes and fragrances, perfect for her to slip into the school blazer pocket or a small cross body bag. Most recent body mists used have been Designer Fragrances, Impulse and Treacle Moon.

    Fragrance

So these are the 3 things I regularly buy my teenage daughter. None of these items are expensive thankfully, so I can be as cheap or as expensive as I like with ‘her’ purchases.
