Believe it or not there were MORE products I saw in Aldi but too many to note down, including hair products and beauty supplements. As always, check your local store sooner rather than later because one minute products are there and then they are gone!
Once you get into trying out body and skincare products that are supermarket branded, you don’t stop! They’re affordable, easy to pick up during shopping trips and many products are really good in quality. Not to mention supermarkets now have their own dupes of well known brands. One supermarket body care buy I bought within the last few months was Lidl’s Cien Moisturising Hand Cream. It cost 59p for 75ml. But was it 59p well spent?
Lidl’s Cien Moisturising Hand Cream
Why did I buy this?
I’ve bought and used the Aldi’s version which is a great hand cream, so I wanted to try this one as well. As a household, we’ve used Aveeno products and other products containing oatmeal and it works well for us. So why not give this hand cream a try for 59p? My daughter uses hand cream daily and this seemed the perfect cost effective purchase for her.
What does this do?
Lid’s Cien Moisturising Hand Cream is suitable for dry and sensitive hands. Containing colloidal oatmeal, it’s naturally soothing, moisturising and calming to skin.
Packaging
Very similar toAveenoin appearance, this hand cream comes in a small, plastic flip top tube. Neutral in colour with green detailing. If this doesn’t make you think of Aveeno, nothing else will!
Fragrance
Although it doesn’t state on the packaging it’s fragrance free I think it is. There’s no scent to this and has that ‘I’m not fragranced type of smell’ to it.
Consistency & Texture
White in colour, smooth and has a little hold to it.
On the hands
Although this hand cream has hold, it really is quite light weight and went straight into my skin with a light rub. The texture was so light it felt like it was part cream part gel. It felt very soothing and protective, and after a few seconds my hands went from feeling like a cream was on it to being matt.

This is a good quality, moisturising but light weight hand cream which most people will find useful. Hands that are severely dry, I don’t think this is rich enough. But for everyone else this will be great, especially for 59p!
Hand cream. Hand cream is one of those products we use but unless you use it everyday, you don’t appreciate it. Only when hands look and feel dry, sometimes cracked and aged that we are rummaging around for our magic in a tube. Or at least that’s what I’ve been doing recently! The hand cream I’m currently using is Glow’s Gin & Tonic Hand Cream, which was gifted to me by Glow a few months ago. So what is this like? Is this any good?
Glow’s Gin & Tonic Hand Cream
Consistency/Texture/look
Glow’s Gin & Tonic Hand Cream is white in colour, smooth in texture and has the consistency of lotion. It’s liquid but not runny and not thick.
Fragrance
This has a citrus undertone to it. Earthy in scent and almost herbal. Gin & Tonic Hand Cream has a slightly masculine smell to it. It’s such an unusual fragrance and not something I’ve smelt before, especially in a body care product. It won’t appeal to everyone but it’s that kind of scent that slowly grows on you.
The state of my hands recently
Literally within the space of a week my hands have gone from a lovely brown colour, relatively smooth to ashy, dry and shrivelled. THIS is what going into the Winter season has done to them! So I’ve been carrying this in my pocket in work to help them look less dead like. This hand cream has had its work cut out with me!
In use
I tend to use this mostly in work because I’m using my hands a lot. Although this is lotion like in consistency, it has a slip to it so it feels very moisturising but it’s not sticky and greasy in feel. Sinks in very easily, and it doesn’t take long for me to be able to use my hands once this applied. My hands immediately look more healthy as the colour comes back to them and they look moisturised and not dry. Plus they feel less tight.
I do have to use this a regularly because I’m using my hands a lot so I apply this little and often. The fragrance isn’t strong but it’s there and I get a whiff of it throughout the day. Honestly? I was unsure whether I liked how this is fragranced but the more I used it the more I think I’m softening towards it.

I like this hand cream. Easy and quick to use, leaves the hands feeling and looking moisturised but normal and not shiny. It’s quite a light weight hand cream so perfect for normal to dry hands. Really dry hands may need something thicker but for most of us this will do nicely. Recommended!
This comes in different fragrances just in case Gin & Tonic isn’t for you. Available soon once Glow’s online store is restocked.
Hand creams are one of those body products you might not need to use all the time. You could spend months and months not using one, and then all of a sudden you look down at your hands and they look mummified! So which one should you use if you’re on a budget? I’ve recently been putting Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Hand Cream to the test to try and get MY hands looking less raisin like. Cost? 69p for 75ml.
Aldi’s Lacura Moistursing Hand Cream
Why did I buy this?
Being a user of the brand Aveeno, I knew this hand cream was inspired by them because of how it looks and it’s ingredients. With it being oatmeal based, I had hoped this would be a decent hand cream. So add these facts with the price (I didn’t want to spend a small fortune), it was a needed purchase!
Aveeno dupe?
What is this hand cream supposed to do?
Thanks to this hand cream containing oatmeal and glycerin, this product is supposed to be incredibly moisturising and nourishing on the hands.
Packaging
I don’t want to focus too much on how this hand cream is packaged as it’s pretty standard. BUT if you’ve ever seen or used Aveeno products you will see this looks quite similar to the range. How do I know? I use their body lotion! The cream coloured tube, the green coloured flip top lid and detailing. It’s very basic in look, has quite a natural, wholesome appearance to it. But the main thing is it does resemble Aveeno without a doubt!
Texture & Look
Off white in colour. Quite similar in texture compared to a body lotion but has a slight hold to it as it’s not loose in consistency.
Fragrance
There isn’t one! I can’t detect anything because it smells of nothing. So ideal for those who don’t want their hand cream having a scent to it.
In Use
On each application, I find using the same amount of hand cream (the size of the tip of my smallest finger) is enough for full coverage of both hands. This actually is a very generous amount but it rubs in very quickly and easily. Although this feels lotion like there is a slight waxiness to this, but not as obvious compared to a body butter. It leaves my hands feeling moisturised and protected because I can feel a slight layer of something on my hands. But they still look matt and don’t appear to be shiny.
My hands do feel very soft after applying this hand cream, yet they still feel quite normal, if that makes sense? As mentioned above, they feel slightly coated but honestly this isn’t off putting because I want my hands to be cocooned. And I can still get on with my tasks and not worry about slippy hands which can be a worry if a hand cream is too rich, heavy or greasy in texture.
I use my hands a lot. Not only do I use them I wash them regularly and still use hand sanitiser daily. So I don’t expect them to feel moisturised for hours and hours at a time because I’m constantly cleaning them. But what I do find is they are dry a lot less often when I’m using this. They look less grey/white/dry and overall I’m probably using this less compared to my other hand cream I was using before this.

I really REALLY like this hand cream! I’m a massive fan of body products that contain oatmeal. My experience has shown it’s a brilliant ingredient for dry, sensitive skin. And I think this hand cream does what it needs to do. It’s moisturising and protecting without being heavy. Hands can be used straight away which is practical. And although I like fragrance, I like how neutral this is scent wise. And the price? I would be happy paying double the price this is. But at 69p for 75ml, this is a great buy! Hand creams are not glamourous but neither are dry hands. Definitely recommended and one to buy to keep your hands in good condition while on a budget.
