  • Gin & Tonic Soy Wax Melt Pot By Pretty Home Aromas

As a wax melt lover and user, I have my favourite fragrance families and scents I like to use regularly. But I also like to try new and unusual scented wax pieces as well. Pretty Home Aromas (formally Pretty Candles) is a wax melt vendor I’ve wanted to purchase from for awhile. It seemed the perfect opportunity to try them out when they had a 50% off sale towards the end of last year/beginning of this. The first Pretty Home Aromas wax melt pot that I melted was Gin & Tonic. This cost 60p (30g) down from £1.20.

Pretty Home Aromas Gin & Tonic Wax Pot
    Why did I buy this?

I LOVE gin! But how does this translate into fragrance and wax? This was too intriguing to miss out on and I needed to know what this was like scent wise.

    How does this look?

Gin & Tonic Wax Melt Pot comes in a small, clear, lidded pot. The wax itself looks so pretty in a simple way. It has a marble like look to it made up of mint green and white colours. Lovingly lavished with a healthy sprinkle of green coloured glitter on top.

    Pretty Home Aromas Scent Description

The sharp scent of gin blended with a zingy citrus tonic.

    In Melt

This melted evenly and quickly. And when it was totally molten it turned into a pool of glittery sea moss green coloured liquid. It took very little time for the fragrance to be released as the scent was clearly there when cold before it warmed through.

    Fragrance

Gin & Tonic is a fresh and clean scent. Zesty in more of a lime way rather than lemon. Sharp but not overpowering and quite energising. It’s so hard to describe this scent as its not a fruity inspired gin fragrance but more the traditional, simple but delicious gin served with tonic…and this literally is THAT smell!

    Strength & Longevity

I wasn’t too sure how strong this would be as I used half of this little pot, but goodness me! I put this on in the kitchen in the morning and by afternoon this had travelled to the living room. So strength is medium to strong. Longevity is excellent. This has been melting for 3 days for a good number of hours at a time and the scent is still there. I’ve only changed the wax because I wanted a change not because the fragrance had gone from this.

What I love about Gin & Tonic Wax Melt Pot is its the total opposite to other gin inspired wax melts I’ve tried. The one’s I’ve melted before have been sweet and fruity , whereas this is zesty and clean. It’s one of those scents I think the majority of people would love because in an odd way its so neutral. A great one for the kitchen as it would help to cut through smells and a perfect melt during Spring and Summer. So this is definitely a winner!

  • Did You Know The Body Shop Sells Wax Melts?

Home fragrance. There is nothing nicer than filling your home with beautiful fragrances, especially during the colder months of Autumn and Winter. It gives a cosy and comforting feel in rooms which is important when you spend more time inside than outside. That’s one of the reasons I love to use wax melts during these seasons. Considering I thought I was a bit of a wax melt know it all, I was a bit shocked to discover that The Body Shop actually sold wax melts! How did I find this out? Through a friend that gave me The Body Shop’s Enchanted Forest Wax Melt. So what is it like?

    Enchanted Forest Wax Melt

Enchanted Forest Wax Melt is a special edition item. Possibly available just over this winter season. It’s a scent that The Body Shop describes as bringing ‘ The fresh forest scent indoors ‘.

    How does it look?

Enchanted Forest Wax Melt is a green circular disc shaped wax roughly 2 inches across and 0.5 inches in depth. It’s flat underneath, but on the top there’s a very festive Christmas tree shape embossed onto it, giving it a slight 3D feel. Housed in a protective plastic little holder and then shrink wrapped. This is 15g of wax.

    In Melt

I wasn’t too sure how much to use of this, but considering how many wax melts I’ve used over the years I trusted my judgement and popped in two thirds. It took a little time to melt in my kitchen but it released fragrance steadily.

    Fragrance

Enchanted Forest has a scent of pine in this. Earthy, leafy, plant like. But what makes this quite special is it has an sweetness to it as well. With that combined with the overall freshness this gives off, it makes this easy and enjoyable to smell. And, just in case you were wondering, it smells NOTHING like a pine scent toilet cleaner! If all Christmas inspired pine wax smelt like this I would buy it more often, because it’s beautiful!

    Strength & Longevity

Strength is medium. I could smell it clearly in the room it was melting in and it travelled into the room next to it. It also had to combat cooking smells, so it had to have some power to it. Longevity is good as well. I’ve had this on for over 12 hours over 2 days and it’s still going.

Yes! For this time of year and over Christmas, this is an ideal piece of wax to melt. It’s very seasonal and perfect when you want something fresh in scent. It looks great, smells great and currently on sale for £1.50 ( normal price £2.50 ). What is there not to love?

  • The Perfect Summer Scent, Cosy Aromas Summer Fruits Wax Melt

I love seasonal scents. Now it’s Autumn, I enjoy experiencing woody, bakery and warming wax melts. But despite melting according to the season, some of the time I just melt what I fancy melting! One of my more Summery wax melts I’ve been using recently is Summer Fruits from Cosy Aromas ( formally Cosy Candles ).

    Why did I buy this?

This is my second order from Cosy Aromas this year. I ordered a selection of small wax melts in a set called Family Favourites. These were fantastic in scent, strength and longevity and they totally won me over. So I made order number two including Summer Fruits along with a few other scents, to see what the rest of their range was like.

    Packaging

Like a lot of wax I buy this comes in a lidded tub. Most wax pots I own come in two standard sizes/weights, which is between 20g and up to 50g. This whopper weighs in at 110g! Because of it’s size and weight, this is more like a small wax pie rather than a wax pot which makes this impressive.

    Cosy Aromas Summer Fruits
    How does it look?

I expected this to be a blood red coloured wax. Summer Fruits is orange in colour, the same shade of orange the flesh of a ripe mango is. One block colour, no glitter, no embedded chunks or swirls, very simple in appearance.

    Fragrance

I could smell a juicy, sweet collection of berries from this wax melt. But there’s also a tropical twist in this scent, almost a mix of mango and peach scent. It reminded me of a packet of chewy sweets which contained a mix of flavours. Sweet and slightly tangy and totally mouthwatering!

    In Melt

A small piece of Summer Fruits wax melt took very little time to warm and melt through evenly. The fragrance became stronger the longer the wax warmer was on. The wax pool became a lovely, summery orange which matched its tropical inspired scent perfectly.

    Melting
    Strength & Longevity

This wax melt was medium to strong in strength. It had been melted all day and afternoon for two days in my living room throwing out fragrance. With this melt being such a huge size you can imagine this would provide hours of fragrance. On Cosy’s website it suggests up to 100 hours of fragrance which I believe, as my slither took forever to wear out scent wise. So strength and longevity is very good even when using the smallest amount of wax.

    Recommended?

The quality of the fragrance, wax and size is impressive. If you love fruity scents you will love this, and if you love sweetie type scents you will love this too. It’s well balanced because it’s not too sweet but sweet enough to smell heavenly! Summer Fruits isn’t just for Summer it’s good all year round fragrance. Grab yours from their website here for £5.99 and spread the berry love!

  • Strawberry’s Wax Creations Vanellope Wax Melt Chunks

Strawberry’s Wax Creations Vanellope Wax Melt Chunks

It’s no secret that I love wax melts, wax melts in any design and shape. As long as they smell good my wax warmer is ready! But what really gets me excited is wax that smell unusual, that take me by surprise and it also helps if it looks good too! And this is what I found when In purchased Vanellope Wax Melt Chunks from UK based wax vendor Strawberry’s Wax Creations.

    Why did I buy this?

The scent description sounded gorgeous, and something I would personally like. Rather than this being potted wax or a wax melt snap bar, I liked the idea of this being in chunk form. So very pretty on the eye, easy to use and a good amount to melt if and when I was ready.

Strawberry’s Wax Creations Vanellope Wax Melt Chunks
    How does this look?

The wax melt chunks came in a brown paper bag with a clear window on the front. It contained 6 great sized chunks of wax. Each chunk similar, but not identical, in look and size, giving it that perfect handmade look. Pillar box red in colour with lime green coloured chunks running through them.

    Strawberry’s Wax Creations Scent Description

Vanilla lime topped with strawberry marshmallow cream. House blend.

    Fragrance

There’s an equal hit of a zesty, fresh citrus lime scent, with a blast of fruity strawberry. The fragrance is rounded off with a sweet creaminess coming from the vanilla. Vanellope is a beautiful and very different to the norm blend. It’s one of those fragrances that’s uplifting, energising, sweet, fruity yet clean all at the same time.

    Strength & Longevity

I used the smallest chunk out of my bag and this gave me a good medium strength in my kitchen. This melted over 2 days for at least 8 hours, and the scent remained the same strength wise. So not only was the strength of this wax melt chunk was great, but also it’s longevity too.

    Recommended?

YESSSS! Its gorgeous. Vanellope Wax Melt Chunks is great for those who like citrusy scents, but want something a little different. If you want an energising, zesty, sweet (but not sickly) fruity, clean scent, this is it!

Strawberry’s Wax Creations constantly change their stock and what fragrances they have available wax wise, so keep an eye on their website for this special scent to appear.
