  • Lidl’s Under £5.00 Cien Vitamin C Skincare Range

When I was younger, I could get away with putting anything on my face. The joys of youth! For most of us as teens and people in our 20’s, our skin doesn’t require much from skincare products, unless you had specific skin issues. But I find as I get older this isn’t the case. I try to be mindful about what I use, what products do and also a big factor in purchases is how much something costs. If you are a shopper in the supermarket Lidl, and looking at affordable skincare, you will definitely find plenty, including their Vitamin C range. So what do they have and who is it suitable for?

Lidl’s Cien Vitamin C Skincare Products
Firstly….what’s important about Vitamin C in skincare?

Vitamin C in skincare can brighten the skin and give it a more natural glow, even out skin tone and help with signs of ageing e.g lines and wrinkles. Ideal for those with dull looking skin, uneven skin tone and a more mature (or sun damaged) skin in regards to texture and wrinkles.

    Lidl’s Cien Vitamin C Serum

To be applied to clean skin in the morning before a moisturiser. This serum contains Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, so expect a serum that should be light weight but moisturising. Price £2.99 for 30ml.

    Lidl’s Cien Vitamin C Serum
    Lidl’s Cien Vitamin C Q10 Day Cream

Containing both Vitamin C & E, this day cream should be moisturising, help improve the look and feel of wrinkles and lines. Also improve the firmness and hydration of the skin. Cien Vitamin C Q10 Day Cream also contains an spf of 15, so provides some form of sun protection. Price £3.99 for 50ml.

    Lidl’s Cien Vitamin C Q10 Day Cream
    Lidl’s Cien Vitamin C Q10 Night Cream

Similar to the Day Cream and what it does, except this doesn’t contain spf. I suspect this is a richer or thicker consistency with it being a night cream. All the same benefits in regards to firmness, hydration etc as the day cream, but for the night. Price £3.99 for 50ml.

    Thoughts?

I love the idea of a Vitamin C range of products! Serum, day and night cream is a core selection of products which is useful. Only thing really missing would be an eye cream or serum and this would be near perfect. So great selection of products, standard sizes for what they are, ingredients seem decent and price point affordable. What more can a Vitamin C skincare lover ask for?

  • Affordable Skincare Products In Lidl For Under £1.20

Taking care of the skin on our face is something we all do. Whether it’s a simple splash, wash and go or a 10 step skincare routine, we have a skincare routine in the morning, evening or both. Whatever your idea of skincare products and routines are, we all use something, with many of us now not wanting (or can afford) to spend a fortune on these products. Supermarkets are a great place to find a variety of different skincare products. Some are branded, some are supermarket own labels, which means a better chance to buy skincare at affordable prices. I went into Lidl recently to see what they had in regards to everyday skincare products, and this is what I found:

Lidl’s own brand budget skincare products
    Cien’s Moisturising Facial Wash

Perfect for all skin types, but especially those with sensitive skin. This facial wash is supposed to be gentle, non stripping and an effective cleanser to be used morning and night. No added colour, fragrance and soap free, so this is the type of facial wash that could be used by all the family. 150ml £1.19.

    Cien’s Moisturising Facial Wash
    Cien’s Refreshing Facial Wash

Has the same benefits as the Moisturising Wash, but I suspect not as moisturising in feel and has a different texture while being used on the skin. Could this be better for those who have a more shiny, oily feel? Or for the guys? Either way it’s an alternative offering for a facial wash. 150ml for £1.19.

    Cien’s Refreshing Facial Wash
    Cien’s Smoothing Facial Scrub

This product is geared towards a more normal to dry and normal to combination skin type. So although meant to gently exfoliate the skin leaving it softer, smoother and fresher, this shouldn’t (hopefully) leave the skin feeling tight and dry. Soap, fragrance and colour free, this should be used once or twice a week depending on your skin type. 150ml for £1.19.

    Cien’s Smoothing Facial Scrub

If you’re looking for basic formulas to do a simple job, these could be for you. No thrills, no fan fare, no mass of crazy active ingredients promising to give you a face lift. If these products look familiar I would say these are dupes for Simple Skincare products. Simple Skincare products delivery the same things these do, designed for sensitive skin and leaving out ingredients that can potentially cause irritation. But their products are a minimum of twice the price of Lidl’s own branded version. So the choice is yours which skincare range you want to buy!

Are you tempted to try these? Or have you already got them in your bathroom and using them daily?

A LUSH Sleepy Shower Gel Dupe In Lidl

What I Found In A French Lidl Store

Cien’s Simple Dupe Refreshing Facial Wash

  • My Favourite Dupe Product Is…..

Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel! Out of all of the dupes I’ve tried, THIS is my favourite and has been purchased many, many times when it’s in stock. The market is flooded with dupes from well known brands of skincare, body products, fragrance and bath and shower goodies. But this shower gel, even thinking about it, makes me smile. But why?

My favourite dupe is Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel
What is this a dupe of?

Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel is a dupe of Sleepy Shower Gel by LUSH. Is this an accurate dupe? Although I haven’t tried the shower gel, I have used, multiple times, products from the LUSH Sleepy range. This includes the Bubble Bath Bar and Bear Bath Bomb. Both have got a distinctive fragrance to them which Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel is very similar in scent wise. Also, the packaging of Lidl’s product is ‘inspired’ by Sleepy. So from my observations, definitely a dupe!

    Price

Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel costs £1.99 for 500ml vs LUSH’s Sleepy Shower Gel £27.00 for 520g (other sizes at different prices available, but this is the closest weight to the Lidl version).

    Packaging

Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel comes in a plastic bottle with black labelling, and so does the version from LUSH. Both very simple in look but striking in an understated way.

My experience of Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel

This is a product I use in both the bath and the shower. Considering my skin can be sensitive sometimes and easily irritated, this causes no issues. It doesn’t dry out my skin and leaves my skin feeling clean and ready for the next stage once out of the bath or shower. It creates nourishing, creamy bubbles which are long lasting. But it’s the fragrance for me which is the best bit. It’s so relaxing. It’s a gorgeous sweet, modern lavender heavy scent which really helps you to unwind especially at night. Its strong enough to make an impact but not to the point it blows your senses away. I would describe this as one of the best shower gels I’ve EVER used!

    My favourite dupe?

Yes it is! Although I can’t compare this directly with the LUSH version as I’ve never used it, and to be honest I never will. Why would I when Lidl’s Relax Shower Gel is so good and cheap! I know a good product that works for me when I use it and this is it. How many bottles of this have I bought and used since it’s release? I couldn’t even count! It’s not always in stock in my local branch so I grab it when I can.

If you haven’t tried this shower gel yet, I would say please do! Maybe the fragrance of lavender isn’t for you. There are other versions as well such as Honey I’m Home which is INCREDIBLE! But which ever you go for, it’s £1.99 well spent!

This toner is to help clean and gently exfoliate the skin leaving it looking and feeling, smoother and fresher. Collagen Balm

    Hydrating Oceanic Day Cream
    Price promotions?

At the time of writing all of these products are on a buy one get one free promotion which is incredible! Taking advantage of these savings means having nearly a full skincare routine for effectively half the retail price which is a win win!

    First impressions?

These products are nicely packaged although a little generic in look. A lot of brands keep their products looking simple and visually it works! Great selection of different products for different skin concerns and types. But I do think if they brought out products that made a full skincare routine, these releases would have been better e.g eye cream, face mask etc. And of course, lets not forget price point. Prices are affordable, reasonable and even better with the promotion they currently have (at the time of writing this post).

    So, job well done Lidl!
