  • Last Minute Wicked Beauty Gifts!

I’ve watched the films Wicked and Wicked: For Good and loved them both. I’m not the only one. Thanks to its success, there is no end of merchandise available on the high street and online. If you have a fan of these films it really isn’t hard to find them Christmas gifts to give them this year. Even better if they love anything pampering and beauty related. Here are a few Wicked gift ideas, that won’t break the bank, ready to give this Christmas:

  • 6 Stocking Fillers I Bought My Teenage Daughter For Christmas

Now that both my children are teenagers, I’ve found buying gifts for my daughter quite easy. It helps that I regularly get links sent to me from her telling me what she wants. But she’s also quite a typical young teenage girl who likes make-up, skincare and fragrance, so it’s not hard to buy her things. Are you struggling to buy small gifts for this age range? Here are 6 stocking fillers I bought my teenage daughter for Christmas 2024.

6 stocking fillers I bought my teenage daughter for Christmas
Collection Lasting Perfection Sheer Loose Powder

My daughter asked for setting powder, I bought her Collection Lasting Perfection Sheer Loose Powder in Matt. This can be applied under, over make-up or used on its own to make the skin look brighter, less shiny and helps foundation last longer and stay in tact. I bought two versions just to be on the safe side. One transparent, the other translucent. I’m sure she will have fun experimenting on her own with these because I don’t have a clue about make-up I just pay for it! These cost £3.99 each from Boots, but at the time of purchasing they had a third off the price.

MUA Hydra Juice Lip Balm Cherry Kiss

Who doesn’t love a lip balm, especially a teenage girl! My daughter loves using lip glosses and I thought MUA Hydra Juice Lip Balm in Cherry Kiss was the perfect balance of subtle colour, hydration and hopefully a look of gloss on the lips. Looks cute, will suit my daughter’s skin tone and super affordable at £2.50 from Superdrug.

La Roche Posay’s Purifying Foaming Gel

While on holiday, I bought my daughter a small version of La Roche Posay’s Purifying Foaming Gel. She says she’s noticed her skin is less spotty and smoother. This range is ideal for those with sensitive skin (although closer inspection I’m annoyed it has fragrance in it!), easy and quick to use and designed to help oily, blemish prone skin. Available in different sizes. For the 400ml size I paid £18.00 (from Boots when on promotion), but usual price is £24.00. Definitely a considered purchase, but will last a good number of months.

    Avene’s Thermal Spring Water

Are facial mists actually beneficially except for very hot and sweaty days? I have no idea. But my daughter likes them and I liked the idea of this one as it literally is spring water in a can. No other skincare ingredients her young skin doesn’t need and I can imagine very refreshing to use too. Bought from Superdrug when it was under £4.00 for 50ml.

    Avene Thermal Spring Water
    Simple Sheet Masks

Simple is a brand that myself and my daughter use. She loves sheet skincare masks and loves Simple’s masks especially. It made sense to buy them when they were on offer for only £1.00 at Boots. Hydrating, cooling, pampering and perfect for sensitive skin.

    Simple Sheet Masks
Primark’s PS High Gloss Lip Gloss

The make-up in Primark is always affordable in price. For £1.50 this clear, glossy lip gloss was something I thought my daughter would like and use. If a teen likes to use lip glosses it’s a must to have a clear one in their collection.

Primark’s PS High Gloss Lip Gloss

Despite the La Roche Posey cleanser, I thought these products were very affordable and budget friendly. All easy to use and ideal for teenagers.

  • Christmas Stocking Fillers For Under £5.00 In Home Bargains

I know it still seems early to mention Christmas, but it’s coming…and coming quickly! Getting prepared and starting a few months before the big date saves time, money and sanity. The easiest things to purchase now, if you don’t want to commit to big, expensive items, is stocking fillers. They tend to be small in size, easy to pick up during an everyday shopping trip and affordable. So what products did I find in Home Bargains, perfect for stocking fillers, for under £5.00?

Christmas Stocking Fillers For Under £5.00 In Home Bargains
Revolution’s Hearts and Kisses Bath Bomb Duo

This has a slightly more Valentine’s Day feel to it thanks to the packaging, but this little bath bomb set would work for a bath junkie. You get two decent sized bath bombs which are both different in shape and fragrance, for only 89p! Potentially a good stocking filler for someone on the younger side, or/and someone who just likes fun bath products.

    Dreamers Bath Sprinkles

Dreamers Bath Sprinkles is a sugar infused bath product you pop under warm running water and enjoy. There’s lots of colourful pieces in this which may appeal to younger bath lovers with fun packaging matching that. The scent of this is a mix between vanilla frosting and drumstick lollies, which makes it mouth watering. £1.99 for 500g.

    Dreamer’s Bath Sprinkles
Serenity Collection’s Coffee Whiskey & Vanilla Bubble Bath

The glass bottle Serenity Collection’s Coffee Whiskey & Vanilla Bubble Bath comes in was the thing that made me spot this product. Then it was the colour of the bubble bath and then the actual fragrance of this. This has quite a classic, traditional look and feel to it with an interesting fragrance and shimmering appearance. £3.99.

    Serenty Collection’s Bubble Bath
    Satin Scrunches

I’ve bought a pack of these for my teenage daughter and she uses them all the time. Practical, handy, looks great with each tub containing 6 scrunchies. There seems to be two sets containing two different colours, so would suit anyone. £1.99.

    Satin Scrunchies
    Sunkissed Eye Shadow Pallets

I found 2 different Sunkised Eye Shadow Pallets. One in Shine Bright and the other Moonlight Sparkle. One is more brighter, bolder in colour and the more natural, browns and nudes. Nicely packaged , small and discreet and both costing only £1.99.

    Sunkissed Eyeshadow Palettes
Revolution Skincare Rose Quartz Gua Sha

Certain people will love Revolution Skincare’s Rose Quartz Gua Sha and you know who they will be! They will love skincare, and want to look after their skin. They try to keep their skin in great condition and probably already use some form of facial tool. Gua Sha’s are used to massage the facial area, help with blood circulation and toning of the skin. Not only is this useful but pretty too as its made from rose quartz. Cost? Only 89p!

    Revolution’s Rose Quartz Gua Sha
Glow’s Cherry Bomb & Jasmine Blooms Nourishing Body Oil

If you’ve visited Home Bargains, you may know they have a range of products from a brand called Glow. Many of these products have been ‘inspired’ by the very popular (and expensive) brand Sol de Janeiro. Home Bargains stocks Glow body butters, shampoos, conditioners and perfume mists. But the newest edition to these products is their body oil. Similar style in packaging to the other products. An interesting and different alternative to the body butter and only £3.99.

    Glow’s Nourishing Body Oil

This is a great mix of different products that would slot into a stocking, Christmas Eve box or even a hamper. Age wise these could be suitable from tweens to someone on the mature side. Best bit? All of these products cost £3.99 or under, and you can pick one or two up while you’re doing your weekly shopping to spread the costs of Christmas sensibly.

  • Is a 49p Eyebrow Pencil Any Good?

I’m not a make-up person. I don’t have the time or energy to use it and I definitely don’t have the skill! But one thing I can’t live without is an eyebrow pencil. Most of us have had teenage moments of madness shaving and plucking eyebrows to death and I was definitely THAT person. An eyebrow pencil helps me correct those mistakes and look normal, so it’s an essential product for me. For this reason, I wasn’t not going to buy w7’s Stroke of Genius Microblade Brow Pencil when spotted in Home Bargains for the budget busting price of 49p!

w7 Stroke of Genius Eyebrow Pencil
What does the pencil do & how does it look?

w7’s Stroke of Genius Microblade Brow Pencil is supposed to create a great shaped, long lasting brow. Like most eyebrow pencils it has a brush end where you can brush out and control the natural brow. The pencil end is retractable and needs to be twisted to use.

    In Use

It’s quite a comfortable eyebrow pencil to hold and use, but very thin. Easy to extend the pencil part or retract it by twisting it. But while applying the eyebrow pencil I needed to apply a lot more pressure to draw lines as I’m used to. It didn’t feel creamy or flow easily over my existing brows or the patchy areas. It was hard work and took more time and energy to do my eyebrows than I would’ve liked.

    The result

w7’s Stroke of Genius Microblade Brow Pencil created a nicely shaped and coloured (I used dark brown) set of eyebrows. I did like how precise they were and it’s worth to mention because of how thin the pencil section was this helped in doing this. These lasted till the point I washed my face in the evening, so no complaints with how long they were in tact for.

    Recommended?

I’ve learnt from using this I prefer a traditional eyebrow pencil that can be sharpened. It’s my personal preference. With this, if the pencil was just that little more smoother and easier to apply it would be really good, but it wasn’t. Shame, as the end result was fine. Would I buy this again? Probably not. Although I did grab two of these and will use them as spares if I’m ever eyebrow pencil-less. Would I recommend it? No. for an extra £1.00 there are cheap alternatives in various places (Primark, Superdrug etc) you can use with less effort and time.
