  • New Skin Care Products In Lidl!

I’ve mentioned in a previous post that the supermarket Lidl has new body products in store. They also have skincare products in stock too and quite a few as well! So what’s available and how much do they cost?

New Skin Care Products In Lidl!
    Brightening Glycolic Toner

This toner is to help clean and gently exfoliate the skin leaving it looking and feeling, smoother and fresher. With it being a gentle acid, it’s recommended to wear sun protection during the day if using this. The skin could become sensitive to the sun so important to take that on board. £2.99 for 250ml.

    Brightening Glycolic Toner
    Niacinamide Booster Serum

Niacinamide Booster Serum is formulated for all skin types. It helps to improve the texture of the skin, provide hydration and minimise the look of pores. £5.99 for 30ml.

    Niacinamide Booster Serum
    Hyaluronic Acid Booster Serum

This serum is all about adding hydration, making the skin look healthier and plumper. Light weight in formulation, and suitable for all skin types. £5.99 for 30ml.

    Hyaluronic Acid Booster Serum
    Retinol Booster Serum

Retinol Booster Serum aims at targeting fine lines and wrinkles. This should make the skin feel and look more smoother, firmer and healthier. This is a product for night time use, but sun protection should be used in the morning due to sun sensitivity. £5.99 for 30ml.

    Retinol Booster Serum
    Night Recovery Concentrate

This is a facial oil containing various essential oils e.g evening primrose, jojoba, lavender etc, which should be applied on clean skin at night. Suitable for all skin types. £4.99 for 50ml.

    Night Recovery Concentrate
    Night Recovery Cloud Cream

This night cream sounds like a rich, comforting moisturiser aimed at an older or drier skin type. Designed to work alongside the Night Recover Concentrate, this is a duo some faces will loves especially during a colder season. £4.99 for 50ml.

    Night Recovery Cloud Cream
    Collagen Balm

Containing shea butter, beeswax and borage seed oil, this cleansing balm should be an effective and gentle cleanser of dirt, grime and make-up. Great for those who like to use richer cleansers and textures, and those with dry skin who need a nourishing not a stripping cleansing action. 50ml for £4.99.

    Collagen Balm
    Hydrating Oceanic Day Cream

Geared towards a more mature skin, this day cream is supposed to moisturise the skin, while helping it look and feel smoother and more youthful. Can be used morning and night. 50ml for £4.99.

    Price promotions?

At the time of writing all of these products are on a buy one get one free promotion which is incredible! Taking advantage of these savings means having nearly a full skincare routine for effectively half the retail price which is a win win!

    First impressions?

These products are nicely packaged although a little generic in look. A lot of brands keep their products looking simple and visually it works! Great selection of different products for different skin concerns and types. But I do think if they brought out products that made a full skincare routine, these releases would have been better e.g eye cream, face mask etc. And of course, lets not forget price point. Prices are affordable, reasonable and even better with the promotion they currently have (at the time of writing this post).

    So, job well done Lidl!

  • New Body Products In Lidl!

I don’t visit my local Lidl as often as I used to. Purely for the reasons of saving time and money if I’m honest! But I did go in last week to pick up a few items and found they had new body and skincare products available. So what did I find for the body and how much did they cost?

New Body Care Products In Lidl!
D’Avignon Cherry Blossom Body Lotion (Lidl own brand)

This is the product that grabbed my attention first because it’s a L’Occitane en Provence dupe. 250ml of a floral, pretty scented body lotion which includes shea butter (second ingredient in the list so a good percentage included) and glycerin. This is marketed as a fragrant, light weight but moisturising product for the body. £3.99.

    Zen Botanics Luxury Handwash

I saw only one fragrance of this hand wash, which was White Tea & Lotus Flower. The fragrance sounds clean, a little zesty but floral as well (bergamot, orange flower and grapefruit). This would be a great scent ready for spring and summer, and comes in a 245ml pump action bottle. £2.99.

    Zen Luxury Hand Lotion

Perfect partner to the hand wash, as it comes in White Tea & Lotus and Jujube & Sacred Lotus. Both contain shea butter and glycerin so should be moisturising and protecting on the hands, especially after hand washing. Packaging wise, nicely presented but doesn’t quite match the hand wash in appearance. £2.99 for 195ml.

    Price promotions?

Although these are priced very affordably, at the time of writing this post all three of these products were on a buy one get one free promotion, which is amazing! Great way to try new products, gift or to put away for future use.

    First impressions?

These seem like a nice range of products. Packaging wise I think the body lotion looks the best, it looks more expensive than it is. The other products look ok but less memorable.

The ingredients are what you would hope for and probably expect from products that cost more e.g shea butter, so good formulations.

Overall, I’m happy to see these products sat on the shelves of Lidl. Would I buy any of these? Probably the body lotion! The scent (one was open I had a sniff!), the packaging and the amount of product were all ticks for me and I might need to go and buy it!

  • Aldi’s Lacura Ultimate Skincare Range

Aldi don’t disappoint when it comes to skincare products. The only thing that can be disappointing is stock levels and availability when purchasing products for the face and body. But when they do have products come in that aren’t part of their everyday ranges, it definitely perks up the interest of skincare shoppers. So when I spotted their Ultimate range last week, I wasn’t sure if this was new, a repeat or products I simply missed, but I was still intrigued. So what products did I find and how much do they cost?

    Aldi Lacura’s Ultimate Skincare Range
    Ultimate Serum

This serum helps hydrate, smooth and soften the skin thanks to it containing squalane, hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C, Edelweiss and Pomegranate extracts. It should be easily absorbed as its light weight, so will leave skin feeling protected but not greasy. £8.49 for 30ml.

    Aldi’s Lacura Ultimate Serum
    Ultimate Eye Serum

This contains a similar set of ingredients as the serum, but also niacinamide (helps to hydrate, protect and repair skin) and centella extract (hydrating and soothing on the skin). So expect under eyes to feel lightly nourished, which will help the appearance and feel of lines and wrinkles. £6.99 for 15ml.

    Aldi’s Lacura Ultimate Eye Cream
    Ultimate Rich Cream

Containing squalane, peptides, hyaluronic acid and green tea extract, this formulation is all about delivering. Delivering hydration, protection and making the skin feel and appear to be firmer and plumper. £8.49 for 50ml.

    Thoughts?

This range of products look like they’re aimed at an older, more mature person. The packaging reflects this and not geared towards a younger market at all. What these products are supposed to do to the skin and ingredients, sounds like it’s catering for skin that needs more help with putting things back into the skin that it’s lacking. Aged skin isn’t always down to the age of the person though. It could be down to lifestyle, genetics and other factors. I think if you want to use this range, these are for someone who needs help to get skin in better, general condition. Products for mature skin tend to come at a higher price point than ranges for younger skin. This may explain why these are a little more pricier than other skincare products Aldi usually sell.

This collection of products won’t suit everyone. So if investing in this range, it might be worthwhile trying out 1 product first and taking it from there. BUT with the colder weather here in the UK, this range might be nice to pop into your routine if your skin is feeling tight, dehydrated and needs a little life put back into it.

  • Superdrug’s Limited Edition Halloween Fruity Body Mists

Superdrug is one of those staple stores on the UK high street that stocks a wide range of products from health care to hair care, body care to skin care. Is it somewhere I shop regularly? No. So what draws me back into purchasing from Superdrug? Price promotions and their own branded products is what pulls me in. Perfect example is their Fruity range. I recently bought two of their Limited Edition Halloween Fruity Body Mists. But why?

Superdrug’s Limited Edition Halloween Fruity Body Mists
    I’ve used them before

Last year I bought and loved their Fruity Blood Orange Body Mist. Great price point, I loved the scent of it and it was just something a little different fragrance wise. So I already had an idea what the quality of their other body mists would be like in this range.

What did I buy & why?

I originally wanted a different scent but it wasn’t in store. So I opted for two limited edition body mists in Sour Apple and Pumpkin Spice. Both were seasonal, both appealed to me scent wise. And when I had a sniff off Sour Apple I wasn’t leaving the store without it! But why did I look at them in the first place, besides the fact I’ve used one of the body mists before? Price point! When I purchased these they were half price with Superdrug’s loyalty card which made the mists very affordable.

    Pumpkin Spice

This is the time of year when anything and everything that can be scented will include pumpkin spice as a fragrance. Superdrug’s Fruity Pumpkin Spice Body Mist is very spicy and warming in the form of ginger and a little cinnamon. Do I get much pumpkin? Maybe, but its the spices that come through more and I love it.

Superdrug’s Fruity Pumpkin Spice Body Mist
    Sour Apple

I can honestly say I have NEVER smelt a body mist in this scent before! It literally smells like fizzy, apple flavoured sweets. So there’s no mistaking what this fragrance is! Sweet, effervescent, zingy apple, which I love as it’s very unusual in this fragrance form.

Superdrug’s Fruity Sour Apple Body Mist
    Worth buying?

These aren’t perfumes, so don’t expect them to have the same longevity or strength as a fragrance full of essential or fragrance oils like an eau de toilette or eau de parfum. But these are the perfect sizes to travel with (100ml), seasonal scents with Sour Apple being a revelation! And if bought while on promotion (which this range of body mists these have been regularly), very affordable! Definitely worth a buy!

Usual retail price is £3.49, but at time of writing this post half price with a Superdrug loyalty card.
