  • Skincare Serums Under £3.00 In Aldi!

I’m going to sound like a broken record, but skincare really doesn’t have to be expensive. It can be as expensive as you want it to be but also as cheap as you want it to be. We don’t all have a generous budget for this area of our lives, and some people, even if they did, some don’t WANT to spend a lot on skincare products. All opinions and situations are valid. Finding decent quality products that fit a lower budget is more than likely going to come from a discount store or a supermarket. Aldi currently have in stock 3 facial skincare serums from their own brand Lacura. So, what do they have, what do they do and how much do they cost?

    Aldi skincare serums
    What’s available

3 different skincare facial serums for different skin concerns. There’s Vitamin C, Collagen & Gold and Hyaluronic Acid.

    Price & size

Each serum is 50ml and costs £2.75 each. This is a decent size and a good price because some serums on the market can be 30ml in size.

What are these supposed to do?
    Hyaluronic Acid

This serum helps to add hydration to the skin while keeping the moisture in the skin. Hyaluronic Acid can hydrate, make the skin look and feel smoother and generally give the skin a healthier appearance.

    Hyaluronic Acid Serum
    Vitamin C

Vitamin C brightens skin, can even out skin tone and provide protection against pollution, free radicals and can help with the appearance of hyperpigmentation.

    Vitamin C Serum
    Collagen & Gold

This serum can help improve the tightness of the skin, it’s smoothness and firmness and provides hydration.

    Collagen & Gold Serum
    Packaging of these serums

All packaged in nicely one block coloured boxes, which seems to be quite a trend in the skincare industry. There’s nothing I can say negative about it. It’s practical, simple but nicely presented.

    Thoughts?

It’s always nice to see affordable skincare products, especially products designed to target certain issues or skincare types. Everyone’s skin is different and sometimes one product for one person isn’t going to be right for another. Seeing variety and specific products is good.

I would have liked to see percentages on these products of their active ingredients. How much Vitamin C is in the serum? Hyaluronic Acid? Not having this information makes me think that the percentages are low, so won’t actually do anything. But what if they were too high for someone and it could cause irritation? There’s a reason brands have this information on products and its to give the consumer the information their skin needs to make the best choice for them. So is this why the serums are so low in price? Price point wise is affordable…but for what reason?

Check these serums for yourself in your local Aldi store now.

I’ve mentioned in a previous post that the supermarket Lidl has new body products in store. They also have skincare products in stock too and quite a few as well! So what’s available and how much do they cost?

New Skin Care Products In Lidl!
    Brightening Glycolic Toner

This toner is to help clean and gently exfoliate the skin leaving it looking and feeling, smoother and fresher. With it being a gentle acid, it’s recommended to wear sun protection during the day if using this. The skin could become sensitive to the sun so important to take that on board. £2.99 for 250ml.

    Brightening Glycolic Toner

    Hyaluronic Acid Booster Serum

This is a facial oil containing various essential oils e.g evening primrose, jojoba, lavender etc, which should be applied on clean skin at night. Suitable for all skin types. £4.99 for 50ml.

This night cream sounds like a rich, comforting moisturiser aimed at an older or drier skin type. Designed to work alongside the Night Recover Concentrate, this is a duo some faces will loves especially during a colder season. £4.99 for 50ml.

    Night Recovery Cloud Cream
    Collagen Balm

Containing shea butter, beeswax and borage seed oil, this cleansing balm should be an effective and gentle cleanser of dirt, grime and make-up. Great for those who like to use richer cleansers and textures, and those with dry skin who need a nourishing not a stripping cleansing action. 50ml for £4.99.

    Collagen Balm

    Hydrating Oceanic Day Cream
    Price promotions?

At the time of writing all of these products are on a buy one get one free promotion which is incredible! Taking advantage of these savings means having nearly a full skincare routine for effectively half the retail price which is a win win!

    First impressions?

These products are nicely packaged although a little generic in look. A lot of brands keep their products looking simple and visually it works! Great selection of different products for different skin concerns and types. But I do think if they brought out products that made a full skincare routine, these releases would have been better e.g eye cream, face mask etc. And of course, lets not forget price point. Prices are affordable, reasonable and even better with the promotion they currently have (at the time of writing this post).

    So, job well done Lidl!

Face Facts Overnight Renew Collagen Boost Neck Masks
    So what do I think?

It’s nice to see a range of skincare products for older skin which isn’t expensive. Lots of products on the market for mature skin can have a higher price tag attached to them. Not great when we need all the help we can get! All products are easy to slip into an everyday skincare routine, with these appearing to be for nightly use rather than day time. So a nice way to end the day with a bit of a pamper. For the price these products are, it’s worth giving the products a go unless you need very specific formulations or ingredients.

  • New Skincare In Home Bargains!

Some people love skincare and enjoy using products. Some people buy and use it because it’s part of a daily routine. I’m definitely the person who loves it, but I also appreciate the fact everyone’s budget and needs are different when it comes to skincare. Not everyone has the disposable income to spend on luxury lotions and potions, or even want to. So cheaper alternatives are welcome. I had a walk down first aisle in Home Bargains to see what new products they had and how much they were. So what did I find?

    New skincare in Home Bargains
    Beelicious Cleansing Jelly

I’ve never heard of this brand before. I don’t even know how good it is but Beelicious will appeal to some people. This brand/range includes a Honey & Squalene Cleansing Jelly. Not much on the packaging information wise on the product. But I assume it’s designed to be a non-stripping, hydrating, gentle but effective cleanser. £3.99 for 200ml.

    Beelicious Cleansing Jelly
    Beelicious Face Serum

This serum should be easy to slot into any skincare routine. The Beelicious Face Serum seems to have some soothing ingredients in this (aloe vera, honey) which should also hydrate. I don’t think it’s geared towards anti-ageing or specific skin concerns so quite generic. £2.49 for 50ml.

    Beelicious Face Serum
Beelicious Vitamin C & Niacinamide Face Cream

Containing vitamin c and niacinamide, these ingredients can help give skin a glow by improving the texture and tone of it. So this Vitamin C & Niacinamide Face Cream should not only moisturise but help the skin look healthier. £2.99 for 50ml.

    Beelicious Face Cream
Revolution Skin’s Medowfoam Milk Oil Cleanser

This isn’t a recent new edition to the shelves of Home Bargains, but I thought for the brand and price it was still worth a mention. Revolution Skin’s Medowfoam Milk Oil Cleanser looks great for those who like a more luxurious cleanser and possibly have a more drier skin type. Great to use as a general cleanser but also a make-up remover, whilst leaving the skin clean, soft and smooth. £1.59 for 200ml.

Revolution Skin’s Meadowfoam Milk Oil Cleanser
    Whind Brightening Overnight Eye Mask

Whind Brightening Overnight Eye Mask is an eye product that aims to brighten the under eye area, help with puffiness and smooth out this area. With ingredients to help with these results such as caffeine, meadowfoam seed oil, reishi mushroom and niacinamide. £3.99 for for 15ml.

    Whind’s Eye Mask

Did any of these grab my attention? Price points were good, loved the packaging but the only product I’m drawn to is Revolution Skin’s Medowfoam Milk Oil Cleanser. I don’t just like it because of the low price point but I like the sound of the cleanser in general. It’s also a brand I know with a decent set of ingredients.
