  • Budget Snail Mucin Skincare From Face Facts In B&M

The skincare world can get a little weird! There’s lots of interesting and imaginative products and formulations on the market that can make a normal skincare user raise their eyebrow. One that has been around for years but still makes people question, is skincare that contains snail mucin extract (yes, I said snail!). Budget skincare brand Face Facts has their snail mucin skincare range available in B&M. So what’s available?

Face Facts Snail Mucin Skincare In B&M
Firstly…what is this snail mucin about?

Snail mucin has been an ingredient of some skincare products for quite a while. As the name gives away, it’s mucus secreted from snails. Benefits? It can provide hydration, calming to the skin, can help improve the look and feel to the skin, help reduce lines and wrinkles, the list goes on!

This facial moisturiser is all about protecting and providing for the skin. 4 in 1 Advance Gel Cream
    Prices?

Each product costs £3.99 but currently on a multibuy which is 2 for £7.00. The prices of the products is very affordable, and the sizes are standard, although the moisturiser is great value as its 100ml in size not the standard 50ml.

    Would I buy this?

I haven’t noticed fragrance in any of the ingredients lists of these products, which I do try to avoid. So would I try any of these? I think I would happily try all of them! The cleanser sounds really refreshing but not drying, the eye cream sounds moisturising and the moisturiser sounds pretty good as well. To be honest, all of these products do! And at such low price points it means even if these products aren’t for my skin, it won’t be the end of the world.

  • How Good Is Garnier’s Vitamin C Brightening Eye Cream?

My quest for the perfect eye cream is something I’ve been on for a long time. Life, children, more life, getting older, a little more life, really can take it out on a person. And for me, it shows under my eyes. They’ve always been my weak spot facially which has been made worse by just existing. And this is why I’m always checking out and trying a variety of different eye products. My latest one has been Garnier’s Vitamin C Brightening Eye Cream. But is it any good?

Garnier’s Vitamin C Brightening Eye Cream
    Why did I buy it?

As a brand, Garnier are good at producing high quality skincare products. This particular eye cream I went for because the mix of ingredients was something I hadn’t used before on my under eye area, and hoped it could deliver a result. And it was fairly priced, under £5.00 from Amazon, which was much cheaper than other retailers.

What is this supposed to do?

Garnier’s Vitamin C Brightening Eye Cream is supposed to help brighten and improve the appearance of tired under eyes. Making dark circles and fine lines look better, and giving the under eyes a brighter, smoother and more even tone than before use.

    Packaging

This eye cream comes in a plastic tube, with a rubber end that the eye cream comes out of. You need to squeeze the product out to use. This tube comes boxed, with the colours and design mirroring each other.

    Look & consistency

Don’t be shocked but this eye cream comes out yellow! It has a slight pearlescent look to it and the consistency is cream like, smooth, not solid but not too liquid either. When squeezed out of the tube, it comes out easily and has a light hold to it.

    Ingredients

Garnier’s Vitamin C Brightening Eye Cream contains various ingredients, including:

Vitamin C – helps to protect the skin from pollution and sun damage. Helps make skin appear smoother and clearer, and can help fade pigmentation.

Niacinamide – helps reduce the look of lines and wrinkles. Helps keep moisture in the skin and helps to even out skin tone.

Caffeine – can help reduce puffiness and improve blood circulation.

Banana Powder – can help skin look brighter, more even in tone and hydrates.

    Fragrance free!

    In use

I squeezed a small amount of this product onto my finger tips and patted it lightly under my eyes. It didn’t feel heavy, easy to apply and sank in well. It left my under eye area feeling moisturised without being greasy. This feeling lasts a long time. But to look at my eyes I was hoping for them to look a little brighter, maybe the delicate shimmer would take the edge off how tired they looked. But it didn’t. It looked no different than usual. What I would say is although they my under eye area looked normal, and didn’t look dry or feel dry, but there was no visible improvement.

    Recommended?

I like this eye cream. Its really nice on the skin and very moisturising without making the under eyes feel heavy. And if this was all I wanted then this would be perfect. But what I hoped for was to see a gradual improvement look wise or at least a temporary improvement with an application. So for that, I wouldn’t repurchase this again as it’s not for me. This is a product I’ve used for a few weeks so I’ve given it enough time to work its magic. I’ve used cheaper products that have done the same for my skin in the past. I think what I personally need is a product to help improve the condition of my under eyes but also mask how they look.

Would I recommend this? I’m not convinced this will help under eyes that look really tired and dark. But if you’re looking for a good eye cream to maintain an already healthy looking under eye, this will do no harm!

  • Do I Really Like Simple’s Soothing Water Cream?

As a brand, I like Simple. Normally it’s their bath and shower products I buy on repeat e.g Moisturising Bath Soak, Sensitive Bath Soak and Soaps. But I did use their face washes a few years ago, until I bought alternatives when the price crept up. Noticing their Soothing Water Cream sold in Home Bargains for only £1.29, I thought it was the perfect time to try out one of their facial moisturisers for such a bargain price. So how good is this Simple moisturiser?

    Simple’s Soothing Water Cream
    What does this cream do?

This moisturiser is designed to help maintain the the skin’s moisture barrier, keeping it hydrated, soothed and fresh. With no added colours and perfume, this product should be gentle and could be suitable for those with a more sensitive skin.

    Packaging

50ml of cream comes in a simple white plastic pot with green detailing. This is mirrored with the box this comes in, giving it a look of being a more ‘natural’, wholesome product.

    Consistency & texture

This looks like a cream but felt like it was part cream part gel. It has a lovely, light consistency to it. Silky smooth, white (of course, no colour!) and has a slight slip to it.

    On the skin

I thought this cream would be too light on my skin because of it’s texture, but I was wrong! I found it was very soothing and slightly cooling on the skin, light weight but felt very protective. My skin felt nourished and not dry at all, in fact, very comforted. And to look at my skin it looked hydrated, almost dewy, not greasy or shiny.

This cream surprised me massively! It delivered exactly what it promised to give and I actually enjoyed using it, which is important to me when using skincare.

    Recommended?|

This is such a good cream! The texture of this is beautiful. It sinks into the skin moisturising and protecting it. Great for those who like lighter textures, especially during warmer seasons, but still want maximum hydration. But those who like thicker consistencies don’t discount this, it’s surprisingly rich!

This product usually retails for up to £10.00 (if not on a special price promotion). So for £1.29 in Home Bargains? I need to go and stock up on MORE!

  • A Summer Skincare Essential? The Cooling Simple’s Hydrating Eye Gel

There’s always something about ourselves we would like to change or improve. I could list quite a few things but if it concerns my skin and my face, it would be my under eye area. If I’m tired, feeling unwell, lack of sleep or suffering from hay fever, it shows! So eye products are always on my hit list and things I’m interested in. I’m currently using two eye products in my everyday skincare routine. One is Simple’ s Hydrating Eye Gel which cost 99p for 25ml from Home Bargains.

    Simple’s Hydrating Eye Gel
    Why did I buy this?

I’m always on the look out for eye products and this seemed very appealing. The brand Simple has always been very gentle on my skin. The gel texture I thought could be perfect to use at certain times and the price was a bargain!

What is this supposed to do?

Simple’s Hydrating Eye Gel is designed to hydrate the under eye area, help to reduce puffiness and give the under eye a fresher look overall. It contains 5% of plant actives so can also provide antioxidant benefits.

    Who is this for?

Someone who is suffering from tired and puffy eyes.

    Packaging

Excuse the pun, but the packaging is simple but it works! This eye gel comes tubed with a very fine opening so you can easily control the amount of product you squeeze out and use. White plastic tube with green and blue detailing. Boxed, which is blue with white and green detailing. All of this gives a natural, wholesome, ‘simple’ vibe.

    Consistency/texture

Clear, transparent. Gel in look as it has hold but not totally solid in structure.

    How to use

Apply in the morning to combat puffy or tired under eyes. Use as a primer before applying make-up and use during the day as a treatment to relieve tiredness.

    On the eyes

This eye gel is something I don’t use everyday. I use it when I need a lighter textured product and comforting but not heavy. Mainly I use this first thing in the morning, or during the day when my under eyes feel like they need a wake up. This is a product that lives in the fridge to add to it’s benefits.

I use a small dot of this eye gel under each eye. This is so cooling and soothing when applied, it’s so enjoyable to use. It’s easy to dab around the eyes and it sinks in quickly and easily, but feels as if it’s leaving some form of protection on this area. Despite it being a gel, I find this incredibly moisturising but not in a traditional, cream like why.

My under eyes never look shiny when this soaks in. It gives instant relief and the feeling of hydration lasts all day. This is a blessing when my eyes need a pick me up. Does this make my eyes look better in regards to puffiness and tiredness? Puffy eyes aren’t a massive issue with me. Tiredness is a part of life and there’s only so much a product can do. But this eye product is best for me when it comes to feeling relief and keeping my under eyes protected and not dried out.

    Recommended?

If your concern is lines and wrinkles this is a no. Extremely dry I would say not on it’s own although could work alongside another eye product. But If you want and need something to be lightweight, moisturising, cooling, sinks in quickly then yes! I adore this eye gel. Not only does it actually do something (e.g cooling, hydration) it’s an absolute pleasure to use. This would be a good little product for any aged person, sex and could be used any time of the year, but especially Spring and Summer.

Available from many retailers such as Superdrug with prices varied. Best price I’ve found is from Amazon* and at the time of writing this post, it costs £3.32 for THREE of these eye gels which is a great deal! So during this heatwave we’re experiencing in the UK, your face will thank you for this purchase!
