  • Fun & Fruity Primark Bath, Shower & Body Products

Depending on which Primark I visit, sometimes I struggle to see products in their beauty section. As a store, Primark can get very busy which means less space to look at items but also it can get messy quite quickly. It must have been a decent day for eyeing up products when I recently visited my local store. I wanted see what they had bath, shower and body product wise. So what did I find?

    Whipped Shower Foam

I found Primark’s Whipped Shower Foam in three different fragrances: Sweet Candy Gummies, Juicy Watermelon and Watermelon Cooler. The shape these come in and being a shower foam resembles the brand Sundae. But these are much more colourful in look, playful, eye catching and cheaper! 250ml for £3.50.

    Jelly Shower Gel

I only saw one fragrance available, which was Raspberry Syrup. Interesting and different shaped bottle than usual shower gels on the market, which is always good to see. 300ml for £3.50.

    Meltin Moisturiser

Again, I could only find this in one fragrance which is raspberry syrup. Good to now that there’s a matching body moisturiser to go along with the shower gel. A brightly pink coloured bottle with matching label to the shower gel. 300ml for £3.50.

    Body lotion
    Soak Sorbet

In raspberry syrup fragrance, I really liked how the bottle of this is shaped. It’s almost like a laundry detergent type packaging. Fun to look at and easy to pour. The only issue I have with this product is it would have been nice if this came in a bigger size e.g 500ml, rather than 300ml. Bath soaks/bubble baths tend to come in a slightly bigger size than their shower gel counterparts. But this is the same price as the rest of the range which is £3.50.

    What do I think?

This is a great range to have ready for summer. The packaging is colourful, fun in shape with very sweet and fruity fragrances available. All affordably priced with decent sizes. It’s a shame there wasn’t more fragrances available in each product, but I suspect that was the stock at the time. These won’t appeal to everyone. Definitely geared towards a younger market and those who like a particular type of fragrance. Would I buy any of these myself? Good question. Fragrances for me would be a yes but I don’t know if these products would leave my skin feeling normal or dry it out. I’m not sure, but who knows, I might give a product or two a try.

  • Primark’s PS Love Opal Crush Eau de Toilette

Most of us will have a collection of fragrance products. My daughter is no exception to this. At the age of 12 she seems to have gathered a varied mix of fragrances in different shapes, forms and strengths. All bought (of course) by the Bank of Mum. One fragrance I bought for her 12th birthday was Primark’s PS Love’s Opal Crush Eau de Toilette. This cost £4.50 for 50ml.

Primark’s PS Love Opal Crush Eau de Toilette
    Why did I buy this?

Primark has a good selection of fragrances. This particular one caught my eye because of the packaging. The scent notes sounded like a good combination (they’re on the box) and if I recall correctly there was a tester so I used it and it smelt pretty good! The price was affordable and overall this made a good gift for the birthday girl.

    Packaging

Opal Crush is housed in a glass bottle. Not totally rectangular in shape because the edges are curved with mint green detailing on the label and the lid. The bottle comes boxed, mint green in colour with a perfume bottle shape cut out of the front so you can see the actual bottle inside. Not extravagant in packaging but easy on the eye.

    Scent Notes

    Oriental, floral and vanilla.

    Fragrance

This is quite a Summer feeling fragrance, thanks to it containing feminine florals. I’m not too sure what type of floral it is but there might be a hint of rose but only lightly. Mixed with the floral is a hint of comforting and sweet vanilla, which I love anyway. I’m not getting much in an oriental scented way but what I do get is something powdery. Overall it’s a great scent that would appeal to most people.

    Strength & Longevity

When I first applied this (onto clothes), I would say this was a light to medium but more closer to light. It’s such a nice scent it could have been stronger but it wasn’t. But that’s my personal preference. I was quite generous with the amount I used hoping it would last all morning while in work. I noticed it at the start of the day but by mid morning I only got a light whiff of this scent. So longevity for me wasn’t long and I couldn’t reapply it to boost the fragrance while the scent became softer. Both strength and longevity was low for me.

    Did my daughter like it?

Strangely enough no she didn’t! She’s a very fickle person so she might dislike it one minute and love it the next. But she wasn’t keen on how it smelt overall. I think she prefers her fragrances to be more fruity and sweetie like rather than floral.

    Recommended?

Although presented nicely with a great scent, I wouldn’t recommend this fragrance to everyone. It just didn’t deliver the punch and staying power needed for it to stand out or wow me. BUT for my daughter this is more acceptable because she doesn’t need overpowering fragrances. So if you want something affordable and pretty in scent but light, then this would be fine. But honestly? This should and could have been much better because I’ve used body mists that performed better.

  • Getting Spring & Summer Ready. New Aldi Body Care Products!

It’s warming up nicely in the UK this week. It’s making me think of three things. Firstly, I really need to do a massive Spring clean from top to bottom of my house. Secondly, I need a new wardrobe as I have zero clothes that will be a benefit to wear in this weather. And thirdly, I’ve just remembered I have something called feet and I NEED to give them the love and attention that my constant socks and trainers have neglected to give them. So my latest purchases from Aldi have come at the right time! My possible feet saviours come in the form of Lacura’s Exfoliating Foot Scrub and Moisturising Foot Cream.

Aldi’s Lacura Exfoliating Foot Scrub and Moisturising Foot Cream
    Why did I buy these?

I swear I only went into the store for milk and bread! I didn’t even take in a carrier bag! But these were positioned close to the front door so my eyes fixed onto them instantly and I knew these were new products. Close inspection revealed these two products were for the feet. And my poor size 7’s need a good pampering right now. I currently have no foot products in my body care stash so these were a necessity.

    Lacura’s Exfoliating Foot Scrub

Not only is the scrub designed to exfoliate and remove dead skin, but also to add moisture and smooth the skin on the feet thanks to ingredients such as Shea butter. You know what excites me about this? This is a whopping 300g size! When I opened this up..I gasped! It looks so incredibly rich and inviting, almost a solid balm type texture. The fragrance I think is tea tree, which should leave the feet not only smooth and soft but fragrantly fresh too.

    Lacura’s Moisturising Foot Cream

I think this is a dupe of a brand called L’Occitane. L’Occitane are known for having hand and foot products that contain high percentages of Shea butter (which this does have at 15%). Plus the packaging of this has some similarities to L’Occitane’s hand and foot care products. A quick sniff of this indicates this has the same fragrance as the foot scrub, so definitely a marriage made in heaven. This is 125ml in size which is an amazing amount of product and should last a good number of months.

    Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Foot Cream
Should these be bought ready for Spring & Summer?

Let’s be honest. Unless you have been super diligent in your body care routine from top to toe, most of us will NEED some form of products for the feet. We want them smooth, soft, supple, moisturised and ready to slip into more open style footwear. So what do we need? Like the rest of our body, to prep it, an exfoliator and a moisturiser, and this dynamic duo are indeed those items. I haven’t tried these yet, but having a look at the textures and ingredients these could be two very good products that should be on your shopping list. And the cost? The Exfoliating Foot scrub for 300ml is £4.99 and the Moisturising Foot Cream is £2.99.

Brilliant value for money. BUT is the quality there and how good are they? Keep your eyes open for a more in depth review on this, it’s coming!

  • Perfect for Summer, SBC’s Refreshing Watermelon Shower Gel & Shampoo

Finally we are getting a taste of Summer! It’s warm, bright and dry in the UK. Warmer weather means my skin and body care products sometimes change. Lighter textures, fruiter fragrances and quicker and easier applications is definitely a Summer thing when choosing what I use on myself! One of my favourite products sitting in my bathroom at the moment is SBC‘s Refreshing Watermelon Shower Gel & Shampoo. I bought this a few months ago in a set from the shopping channel QVC. Tt was sold at a special price known as a Today’s Special Value.

    What is this?

A whopping 1ltre size of a 2in1 shower gel and shampoo formulation. Housed in a pump action dispenser making it super easy to use.

    Appearance & Consistency

Red in colour, semi opaque and is of the typical thickness you would expect from a shower gel or foaming/bubble bath product.

    Fragrance

This smells gorgeous! Watermelon is an odd scent as I don’t think it’s specific enough in regards to how it smells, or at least the actual fruit isn’t. But this version is fruity and berry based, sweet although not sugary and sickly. A perfect fragrance for me and perfect for Summer!

    In the shower & bath

I used this in the shower and found I didn’t need to use much. One pump on a sponge, mixed with water made this lather up so well and easily washed my whole body. In the bath I used a few pumps, and the amount of foam produced was a lot. This created a very foamy and fragrant bathing experience!

    On the skin

One thing I noticed with this product was my skin felt very clean after using without drying it out. It left a faint scent to my skin which was pleasant and enjoyable to smell.

    Family

My son uses this in the shower. He’s at an awkward age where bathing isn’t top of his priority list. Although he does it, he wants it over and done with as quick as possible. But he likes using this because of how much it foams and how it smells. So this product isn’t just for the adults in the family!

    As a shampoo

This is a bath, shower and shampoo product. But I can’t comment on how this performs on hair. I haven’t used this as a shampoo on my hair or children’s. But its good to know it’s a multi-functional product.

    Recommended?

YES! This is what I call a Summer in a bottle product! This smells great, it works well on the skin and the size makes this ideal for family use. You can purchase this individually direct from SBC’s website from £4.50 for 100ml size here.
