  • The Body Shop’s Mango Body Butter, Worth Buying?

The skin is the body’s largest organ. Do we look after it as much as we should do? Probably not. I try to keep the skin on my body in the best condition possible but I’m not perfect. But what I do pretty well is keeping it moisturised. There are many different types of body moisturisers out there on the market, and one of my favourites is a body butter. My collection of body butters isn’t exactly small, and includes an exceptionally fruity one in the fragrance of Mango from The Body Shop. Given as a gift last year by a friend, this retails for £6.00 for 50ml or £18.00 for 200ml.

    The Body Shop’s Mango Butter
Why did I start using this?

My body care routine at the moment consists of using body lotions, which are working well. But with a body butter they are richer in texture. I find these to be a lot more pampering and luxurious than a lotion, which is what I want right. Fragrance wise I love anything fruity, so I grabbed this wanting luxury and mouth watering fragrance to experience daily.

Mango Body Butter, what does it do?

Ideal for dry skin. This is supposed to deliver up to 48hours of moisturisation thanks to it’s rich formulation and ingredients. And also to provide an exotic fragrance to the skin.

    Fragrance

Rather than this smelling like mango, my first impression of this scent is this is what tropical flavoured sweets smell like. Think fruity flavoured chews you can buy labelled tropical and this is the fragrance with this butter. It’s sweet, sweetie like, tropical yes but not true to the actual fruit. Absolutely nothing wrong with how this is scented, it’s gorgeous and I like it! It’s right up my fragrance street. But it’s more of an interpretation than a realistic fragrance in my opinion of mango.

    On the skin

I’ve probably said this many times but I’m not shy with the amount of body product I use on myself. But with body butters they are richer in texture, so using this for the first time I took the less is more approach. What I found was a thick, smooth and very buttery body product that melted into the skin effortlessly. There wasn’t a need to rub it in like I was washing my car. I applied this quickly, it sank into the skin well and wasn’t greasy at all. Of course there was that rich feel to it, but my skin didn’t feel or look oily. What it did look and feel like was moisturised.

The fragrance was there on the skin even hours later but so much more faintly compared to when this was first applied. But skin remained well conditioned, healthy in look and super soft. Was this moisturising for up to 48hrs? I hate it when companies use these types of terms as it’s not realistic. But let’s just say I didn’t need to apply it again until after my evening bath the same day, which is good enough for me.

    Recommended?

People either love or hate body butters and I can understand why. You want your skin to be protected and enveloped in moisture but you don’t want to be cocooned in grease, which some body butters can make the skin feel like. Not this one. It’s incredibly light weight considering what it is, rubs into the skin like a dream and I think the great quality of this shines through. So if you like the idea of a body butter but not a heavy, thick one, this is for you. Highly recommended!

The Body Shop have loads of different fragranced butters if this version isn’t your thing. But if you like fruity scents you will adore this! The 50ml size is a great introduction to what possibly could be one of their best body products from the brand. Keeping close to my love of getting good deals, body butters from The Body Shop are regularly on sale, so keep your eyes open and your wallet close to buy.

  • What Did I Order From The Body Shop Winter Sale?

If you saw one of my earlier posts this month, you will know I’m trying to be a bit more intentional when it comes to my purchases and what I use (My 2022 Goals For Skincare, Bodycare & Wax). I’m not banning myself from buying anything, just putting more thought behind what I buy and why. The only purchases I’ve made that have been non-grocery related have been from the brand The Body Shop. And this strangely enough tied into them having a Winter Sale. Funny that! So what did I buy and why?

Some items from The Body Shop Winter Sale
    Why The Body Shop?

Well why not? I used to love particular products from them when I was a teenager, and to be honest totally forgot about the brand until the a couple of years ago. It came to my attention because a good friend of mine became one of their consultants and she made me realise the brand and it’s products have evolved a lot since I first knew them. So I’ve had the opportunity to try and buy various products, experience different fragrances and textures and many I’ve really enjoyed using. So if a sale comes up, products are priced well, I’m buying!

    Why did I buy?

I know we’ve just gotten rid of Christmas, but that’s not the only occasion people give gifts. Birthday’s, teacher gifts, there’s so many! And I like to buy things along the way through the year to cover all those eventualities. A lot of the time I will have certain people in mind with a purchase, sometimes I just get things and know they will tick someone off my list. And this is why I made my most recent order with these thoughts in mind.

The Body Shop’s Hand Washes & Hand Creams
    What did I buy?

I didn’t go nuts although it’s easy to do!

Body Butters. 50ml each. In the fragrances of Pink Grapefruit, Almond Milk & Honey and Moringa.

Hand Creams. 30ml each. In the fragrances of Joy & Jasmine and Kindness & Pears.

Hand Wash. 275ml each. In the fragrances of Joy & Jasmine and Kindness & Pears. Pear Bath Blend x2. 200ml each.

Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil x2. 200ml each.

Bath Bubbles. 28G each. In the fragrances of Moringa x2 and Pink Grapefruit x2.

    Why these products?

The body butters, hand creams and the bath bubbles are really good. Small products that can be grouped with something else to make a really nice gift or mini collection. I’ve used these before, the quality was great and all of the fragrances smelt so good!

    The Body Shop’s Body Butters

Never tried the hand washes before, but grouped together with the hand creams of the same scent meant two items for the hands. Hopefully these would be enjoyed and a pleasure to use. Plus a hand wash, a good quality one, I think is a lovely gift idea anyway for the home and it’s a bit of luxury and very practical too!

The cleansing oil. Ok I forgot I ordered this, these are for me! I’ve tried, bought, been gifted and loved the cleansing butter version of this and have always wanted to try the cleansing oil. So at half price (normally £12.00 down to £6.00) I would be stupid not to get one. So I got two instead!

The Body Shop’s Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

The bath blend. Forgot I ordered that as well, lord forgive me! I bought one for myself and one to put away for a gift. I’ve tried two other fragrances in the bath blends and loved both of them. It’s something different, it’s something I enjoyed and personally thought in the pear scent this would be fabulous. So why not treat myself and get one for a friend too?

So how much did I spend?

Let’s start off with the bath bubbles. These weren’t on sale but I ordered them because I think for the price and what they deliver to the bath is exceptional! £1.50 each! The body butters, although not full size but travel (at 50g), were £2.00 each. Normally priced at £6.00. Hand creams down to £2.75 from £5.50. Hand washes £3.25 down from £6.50. The cleansing oil as already mentioned is £12.00 full price but down to £6.00. And the pear bath blend £4.00 down from £8.00. Total cost was £44.00 with free p&p. There was a £5.00 off code on the website so that brought it down to £39.00. Plus I went through a cashback site and picked up £2.34 (every penny helps right?).

    The Body Shop’s Bath Bubbles
Am I happy with these buys?

Definitely! Although I snuck in a few items for myself (rude not to), I think I’ve made a good head start with my little stash of gifts ready to give out when the time is right to the right people. I haven’t spent a massive amount of money because the majority of it was half price.

At the time of writing this post the The Body Shop sale was still live online and instore. You can visit them here now but remember, the best purchases are intentional. Happy browsing!x

  • The Body Shop’s Berry Bath Blend

Warm weather does not put me off when it comes to my evening bathing ritual. Sunny, scorching, 100 degrees outside? I don’t care! No matter what, I will be sat in my bath tub like Ariel swimming under the sea! It’s a part of my daily routine and a way to relax, regardless of feeling as if I’m being poached alive. But with it being Summer, I thought I would drag out a bath product that in my opinion reflects the season because of its fragrance. The Body Shop’s Berry Bath Blend seemed a perfect choice. £8.00 for 250ml.

The Body Shop’s Berry Bath Blend

    Why this one?

I’ve used the Banana Bath Blend and loved it. I’m a lover of fruity fragranced products anyway so why not? I have my typical bath and shower gels that I pick up from supermarkets, but then there are times I just want something a little more special, and this is that time and product!

    What’s a bath blend?

The Body Shop’s Bath Blends are fairly new products. Released within the last year or two, they are designed of course to go into the bath. Be fragrant, provide foam and nourish the skin without stripping it. Part bath cream, part bath soak.

    Packaging.

How this is presented reminds me of when my dad used to buy flavoured milk from the milk man! Although not in a glass bottle ( bath blend is in plastic), it has that old time milk bottle shape but with a screw top lid. Clear, so you can see the colour of the blend. The labeling matches the color of the blend itself. Very appealing and almost drinkable!

    Fragrance.

Very berry! Strawberry to be more specific! But there’s a little sharpness to the sweetness of this. Also, some creaminess which makes it more balanced and rounder making it delicious in scent. I really want to drink this, as I did with the banana version, but better not!

    Look & Consistency.

This is a lovely berry reddish pink colour. Totally opaque. The consistency is very unusual because it’s not a gel or a cream. Like it’s banana fragranced counterpart it reminds me of a milk based drink. Not a thick milkshake, but the more fluid ones.

    In the bath.

Under warm running water, this bath blend turned the clear water into a beautiful pink coloured pool. And laying on the top of that produced a decent amount of soft, white, frothy bubbles making this bath very appealing. The fragrance was there and it smelt beautifully, but wished it was a little bit stronger because its so mouth watering and enjoyable to smell.

The bath itself was relaxing. The bubbles lasted a good amount of time and when they left, the bath water stayed pink but more cloudy. On the skin I had no issues, and it didn’t dry out my skin afterwards.

    Recommended?

I like this bath blend. But between this and the banana version I’ve used before, the banana wins. Why? It’s more of an unusual fragrance compared to something berry based which is more common in bath products where scent is concerned. It’s a lovely product. Not something I would buy regularly due to price and size but a rare purchase. I would recommend this in a set form to get the best possible price, or if it’s on sale so discounted. But as a regular repeat purchase on it’s own probably not but depends on your budget. As a treat to yourself or for someone else? Absolutely!

If this fruity cocktail is making you thirsty to buy it, you can grab it in person at you local Body Shop store or online here and safe your legs the hassle of walking.

  • The Body Shop’s Camomile Cleansing Butter

I may not be a make-up wearer, but how my skin looks is important to me. This is probably why I love skincare, and skincare products that work and do their job well. One product I’ve been using to help clean my skin and prepare for the morning and evening is The Body Shop’s Camomile Cleansing Butter.

The Body Shop’s Camomile Cleansing Butter
Why have I been using this?

The lovely season of hay fever has not only caused havoc on the usual areas (eyes, nose, throat etc), it has really hit my skin hard! The face on my skin has become drier and less supple and I thought using The Body Shop’s Camomile Cleansing Butter would be gentle, effective and soothing on the skin.

    What does this do?

Camomile Cleansing Butter is a product designed for sensitive skin. This can be used as a make-up remover or general cleanser, so hard working without stripping the skin.

    Packaging

90ml of cleanser comes in a screw top flat tin. There’s something very appealing about how the packaging looks, easy to use and recycle.

    Texture

This has a look of Vaseline or any petroleum jelly type product but rather than being clear is white in colour and has a gloss to it. Although it looks solid in the tin, it isn’t. It’s very soft, and has that melt in your hands type of consistency when you touch it.

    Fragrance

The fragrance of this is a soft white floral. Pretty, clean in scent and not strong. Great for those who like fragrance but don’t want something too obvious.

    How to use

Use a small amount and rub it onto dry skin. Remove with a flannel.

    In use

I took a small amount of this and gently worked it over my dry face for around 2 minutes. The heat from my fingers made this go from a balm texture to an oil. My skin didn’t look or feel massively greasy but it did have an obvious shine to it. Easy to use, very enjoyable and soothing on the skin because it felt more like a treatment rather than a general cleanse.

The Body Shop’s Camomile Cleansing Butter was very nourishing on my skin and gentle. Despite having sore areas such as my eyes, this caused no issues at all.

Removal was quick and easy. I used a warm, damp flannel and gently removed this off my face. No residue was left and my skin felt and looked fresh and clean.

    Recommended?

This cleanser was easy and quick to use. It cleaned my skin without stripping it and drying it out and I adored the texture this comes in. I LOVED using this cleanser and if you love using balms and oils on the face, you will love this too! Definitely recommended if your budget can stretch to it as it’s not the cheapest cleanser on the market. This comes in 2 sizes. 20ml ( ideal for travel ) is £6.00. 90ml costs £12.00.
