  • Glow’s Crime Scene Investigators April Wax Subscription Box

Subscription boxes can be so much fun. They are a great way to get a collection of various products posted to you each month normally themed and priced affordably. UK wax vendor Glow’s subscription boxes definitely do this. I’ve bought (and been given) a few of these boxes over the last couple of years. The recent one (which I won) was April’s and it was waxed based and called Crime Scene Investigators.

    Glow’s April Wax Subscription Box
    What was the theme?

This subscription box is crime themed and interactive. Within the subscription box is the ‘case file’ which you use to help solve the murder of a man called Andrew Bailey. Each piece of wax and the added extras in the subscription box are related to the case.

Blood Orange & Oakwood Wax Melt
    What was included?

    5 pieces of wax.

    A clay mask.

    A small magnifying glass.

    A small notebook.

    A pen.

Case notes related to the crime.

What do the wax pieces look like & what are their fragrances?

A spanner-roughly 14cm long spanner shaped wax melt. Blue in colour with a dusting of silver pigment. Chunky, sizeable and looks easy to break up to use. Fragranced in Sun kissed Raisins & Autumn Leaves.

A shoe-shaped like the side of a shoe, this wax melt is brown in colour and is covered in a copper coloured pigment/mica. About 9cms in length and 3 cm wide. Fragranced in Blood Orange & Oakwood.

A packet of cigarettes-this wax melt is shaped like a box of cigarettes. White in colour with a copper and white coloured shimmer to it. Just over 8cm in length and 5cm across. Fragranced in Musk til Dawn.

Mobile phone-a basic mobile phone shape lilac in colour with a silver pigment on the ‘screen’. 5cm across and 10cm in length. Fragranced in Gun Powder Tea & Minerals.

Petrol can-green in colour with gold pigment on the front and fragranced in In The Shadows.

Sun kissed Raisins & Autumn Leaves Wax Melt
    Fragrances

These are not my usual wax melt fragrance choices. I would never choose these in a million years and this is why I’m glad I’m getting the chance to experience them. Each wax is quite masculine in scent, aromatic but not overwhelming. Each one smells different from each other and are very distinctive. These are beautifully scented and I can’t wait to get them melting!

Gunpowder Tea & Minerals Wax Melt
    First impressions?

This is an incredibly imaginative themed box. From the theme in general to how the wax pieces look. The added extras e.g the magnifying glass are a great touch. And the crime file and interactive element absolutely genius! The time, energy and care put into Crime Scene Investigators April Wax Subscription Box was impressive and the usual high standard I’m now used to with Glow. Every time I think their boxes can’t be beaten they release another one which is even better!

If you haven’t tried any of their wax products (wax melts and candles), you really should visit their website here. Their quality is amazing!

  • Autumn Home Scents Glow’s Cafe Coffee Inspired Wax Melts

There are two things I have a fondness for. One is coffee and the other is wax melts. Strangely, I’ve never thought about combining the two together…until now! A few months ago, I won a small competition in UK wax vendor Glow’s Facebook group, and I received a selection of coffee inspired scented wax melt pots. Now the weather is colder, the days are gettering darker quicker, and I want to hermit more, I thought this was the ideal time to start melting these. So, what scents did I get?

    Glow’s Cafe Wax Melt Pots
    Fresh Coffee

This smells like a fresh made cup of coffee with a small amount of sugar added, finished off with a bit of cream. It’s the slight sweetness that makes this fragrance enjoyable and softer than what I expected and it’s really good, and still remains aromatic.

    Coffee Cream

Smells similar to the Irish cream drink but with a little more warming spices in it, such as nutmeg. This is a mouthwatering fragrance which I genuinely can’t stop sniffing!

    Cafe Latte

This is the little sister of Coffee Cream scent wise. The only difference is when I smell them side by side Coffee Cream definitely has that whiff of alcohol in it and spices and Cafe Latte doesn’t.

    Choca Mocha

Chocolate and coffee. That’s what I get with this one. But more hot chocolate than just a bar of chocolate. Despite not being a fan of this combo in real life chocolate form it, smells great.

    Caramel Vanilla Latte

Caramel Vanilla Latte has a slightly burnt sugar/caramel type undertone to it on top of the creamy coffee scent. If you love the idea of a slightly sugary, full of depth coffee fragrance this would go down well.

    Pumpkin Spiced Latte

This has got to be the standout scent in this set. It’s so different from the others and screams Autumn thanks to its bold, spicy notes. I would say this smells the least like coffee but more spicy, pumpkin which is sweet (not too much!) and very inviting.

    Which one is my favourite?

I would probably say Coffee Cream. These are all great scents but for some reason this one catches my nose the most. All of these are beautifully fragranced. If the idea of coffee scented wax melts makes you feel unsure (like it did with me) please don’t! These all smell amazing. And if you naturally love coffee and how it smells you will adore these pieces.

    Recommended?

Glow never fails me when it comes to their wax. Whatever piece I receive, whatever the scent is, they have always been fantastic! And I have to say, I’m won over by this small but might box of fragrant wax goodies. I would 110% recommend trying out any Glow waxy pieces but also their coffee inspired ones too. And guess what’s currently available in the cutest coffee bean shapes EVER!? Caramel Vanilla Latte and Coffee Cream. A 4 pack of coffee bean shaped wax melts costs £2.50. Grab yours here now and well-done purchasing, you will love them!

  • When Unicorn Fly Wax Melt By Strawberry’s Wax Creations

As somebody who has a slight addiction to buying and use wax melts, it’s very hard to avoid new wax releases. My wax melt stash is pretty large, so to curb temptation I delve into my haul of wax I already have (and forgotten about). To keep my credit card safe and my home fragrant with a new scent, I’ve delved deep into my wax melt stash and pulled out When Unicorn Fly Wax Melt by Strawberry’s Wax Creations to use.

    Why did I buy this?

I bought this as a set from Strawberry’s Wax Creations (formally Strawberry Wax Melts) towards the end of 2019. This set consisted of different scented wax pieces which were all unicorn themed scent wise. I bought this set because anything connected with unicorn in scent tends to be quite sweet in fragrance which I love. The set costing £10.00 with 10 wax melts in 5 different scents I thought was great value so a totally winner!

    Strawberry Melts When Unicorn Fly
    Strawberry’s Wax Creations Scent Description

Loads of sweet, rich buttery top notes followed by fresh coconut and itty bitty hints of sweet berries with bottom notes of yummy, super sweet vanilla.

    How does this look?

This set of two wax melts came in mint and white colouring. Both differently shaped with both looking like they’ve been set in a mini fancy cake or jelly mould. Small golden butterflies sprinkled on the top of each to complete the look. Size wise these were roughly 1 inch and raised, so not completely flat.

    In Melt

This is quite a good sized wax shape so it took some time to fully melt. When it did it the now liquid wax became a deeper green colour.

    Fragrance

It took awhile to figure out how these wax melts smelt but they smell like strawberry pencils! Those highly addictive long pencil shaped sweets with white fondant running through the middle is how this is fragranced. Creamy, sweet, slightly strawberry confectionery type scent with definite hints of coconut. This is one of those scents that will have you wiping the drool from your mouth once you smell it because it’s delicious!

    Strength & Longevity

When Unicorn Fly Wax Melt is medium in strength. Fighting cooking smells in the kitchen means it had a decent punch to it. Longevity was great as well. I had this on for 3 days melting away at 4 hours a time. The scent was still there and I only changed the wax melt because I wanted a different fragrance.

    Recommended?

Those who love their sweetie inspired scents you will love this as much as I do! Its sweetie and fruity like, totally yummy and an enjoyable scent to melt. Absolutely recommended and yet again great quality wax melts from Strawberry’s Wax Creations.
