  • Are These Undereye Hydrogel Patches For Under £1.50 Any Good?

If you have a favourite type of skincare product, what is it? One of my favourite products has got to be under eye patches/masks. They’re an easy way to give tired looking under eyes a little more of a rested and hydrated look and feel. So anytime I see them, especially when they’re affordable, I have to buy them! My latest purchase comes from Home Bargains in the form of Popmask Skin’s Angel Eyes Under Eye Hydrogel Patches. Containing 5 pairs, this set cost £1.49. So how did they perform?

Popmask Skin Angel Eyes Under eye Hydrogel Patches
    What are these?

These under eye patches are to be placed onto clean skin. Designed to help improve puffy eyes, give a cooling effect and overall make the under eye area look and feel better (on a temporary basis). This set contains 5 pairs of patches, meaning 5 separate treatments. Fragrance, colour and cruelty free.

    Packaging

Popmask Skin’s Angel Eyes Patches comes in a black and white cardboard box. It’s only after using these patches I realised that the black images on the packaging are angel winged shaped. So very much a stand out box that caught my eye straight away on the shelf. The patches themselves, each pair, come in their very own sachet with the look mirroring the box.

    Ingredients

Include sea water, pumpkin fruit, caffeine and cucumber extract.

    How do these look?

The patches themselves are quite large, black and winged shaped, just like the images on the packaging. Quite thick, with a shiny, sticky side and on the front almost felt like.

    In use

Once I took these off the clear sheet of plastic these were stuck on, I placed them on my under eye area and they were secure, not moving and very much in place. Despite these being in the fridge overnight, I didn’t feel any coolness. Although these felt very comfortable on, it was very different to any other under eye patches I’ve used before. It felt like tape had been placed on my face, with no sense of moisture or serum on them, which was an odd sensation.

Taking them off was easy to do. But I did do it gently and slowly because these really were stuck on well. My under eyes didn’t feel hydrated or rested, before or during use, just very rigid for 20mins.

The packaging and the look of these I loved! Being in sachets mean these are great for travelling and keeps each pair fresh and ready for use. The design and look of the patches themselves is fun and very different. But the problem I had was there was no feel or action of any serum being placed from them to the under eye area, which you would want surely? Using these didn’t feel very pampering, or hydrating and as fun as these looked on did very little. So I won’t be buying these again. And I wouldn’t recommend them if you want under eye patches that soothe and smooth this area of your face.

  • Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches

How skincare products are presented is important. The initial thought you have on how good or bad it will be can be based on how it’s packaged and how it looks. Sometimes products can look fun and not take themselves too seriously which sometimes puts me off because are they a gimmick or effective in use? Unsure as I was when I first saw Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches on their website months ago, I still bought them when they were sat on a shelf in Home Bargains priced at £1.99.

Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches
    Why did I buy this?

I love eye products. Anything to make this area of my face look more alive I’m going to purchase it. Revolution are a brand I’m familiar with. Although I wouldn’t buy these at full price this was a steal for 60 undereye patches (30 pairs in total). Even if these were more of a gimmick it was affordable and would at least be used by my daughter if not by me, so I couldn’t lose.

What are these designed to do?

Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Undereye Patches are designed to…hydrate the undereye area! On the website that’s the only thing it’s listed to do.

    Packaging

Revolution Skincare London’s Watermelon Hydrating Under Eye Patches come in a screw topped plastic pot. Taking the lid off, there is a secondary covering which keeps the patches nice and safe and attached on the top are a small pair of tweezers to help take them out. The packaging is practical and quite eye catching thanks to the lid having a watermelon look to it.

How do these undereye patches look?

These are typical undereye patch shaped. Jelly like in look and feel and red in colour with black dots on them looking like the flesh of a seeded watermelon. It’s fun, it’s interesting to look at but doesn’t scream serious skincare to me and geared more towards a younger market.

    Fragrance

I expected these to have a fruity fragrance to them but there was no such scent. In fact, there was no clear fragrance to these at all.

    How did they perform?

In the pot these under eye patches were swimming in some form of pinky/red solution/serum. Not too sure whether I liked that or not (the colour of it) but at least they were hydrated. I found them a little fiddly to get out of the pot even with the tweezers. Placing these on the skin they needed a little adjusting but stayed where they were the majority of the time. They were reasonably comfortable to wear but I wished they were more cooling.

Hold these patches in the wrong way and they can tear. This happened a few times but they were still useable. Taking them off my skin, the serum they were soaked in did leave my undereyes moisturised but could have been a lot more to be honest. They didn’t feel massively more hydrated or better in look than before using these.

    My daughter

My 12 year loves these! She would use them everyday if she could. It’s a form of pampering for her which is easy, looks good and probably makes her feel grown up too. So no complaints from her.

I can see the appeal of this product. In my opinion it’s for a younger market because of it’s packaging and how the actual patches look. Not to mention these aren’t the most hard working undereye patches I’ve ever used. So for those who want a bit of fun and pampering these will do that, but would suggest to buy these while on sale and not at full price (currently £15.00 on Revolution’s website). Personally I wouldn’t buy these again for myself. They needed to be more hydrating, more cooling on my undereye area and thicker or constructed better. I’ve used better undereye patches and found these were just ok and nothing special, but still a great price at £1.99 though.

  • Under 50p Bubble T Hydrogel Under Eye Patches

There are two different types of skincare on the market in my opinion. The first one is skincare that does a job and gives some form of result. The second is the fun, having a bit of a pamper and enjoying using skincare products. When I saw Bubble T’s Hydrogel Under Eye Patches for 49p in Home Bargains, I thought these might fall into the second category, but was I right?

Bubble T’s Hydrogel Under Eye Patches
    Why did I buy these?

I love under eye patches. These were affordable, looked appealing and something both myself and my daughter wanted to try.

    What are these?

Moisturising collagen and green tea eye patches that are designed to help with puffy, lacklustre under eyes.

    How do these look?

Gold in colour with an almost jelly like feel to and look to them. They don’t have a rigid structure to them so they are very floppy. Shape wise, very typical for under eye patches as they follow the shape of the under eye area. I always think of these as being kidney bean shaped.

    Packaging

Bubble T’s Hydrogel Under Eye Patches come in a clear fronted sachet, so you can see the actual under eye patches. All information such as ingredients and how to use is on the back. Packaging wise it looks very simple, dare I say on the cheaper side but still grabbed my attention instore.

    Fragrance

When I opened the sachet there was a subtle but obvious flowery fragrance to these. Not strong, quite soft and reasonably pleasant.

    How to use

Place each under eye patch below the eye and leave on for 15-20 minutes and remove.

    In Use

Placing these under my eyes was easy. One patch though struggled to stay in place at one point but both soon sat in place for 20 minutes. I found these to be very cooling and comforting (I had them in the fridge prior to use) and comfortable on my face. Once I took them off I dabbed in some of the solution these were in from their sachet and carried on with my skincare routine.

Fragrance wise while wearing these under eye patches I caught the slightest whiff of these but it really wasn’t noticeable. In my opinion that’s a good thing because having something strong in scent sat on your face for up to 20 minutes can be too much.

    After Use

Straight after I removed these and even the next day my under eyes didn’t look massively different. They weren’t dry, irritated, sore but they were adequately hydrated. I would have liked my under eyes to have felt more plumped up moisture wise but I think a tissue like material would have been better delivering that. Overall using these was a little bit of pampering but no change to the look and feel of my under eyes.

    Recommended?

These were fun to use. Both myself and my daughter used them and she really enjoyed them. I got what I expected from them which was a nice little experience, an enjoyable feel on the face all done super cheap! In all honesty that’s what I thought I would get. If you’re looking for actual results and improvements on this part of the face, look at eye creams or serums. These are not for you. If you want something that doesn’t cost the earth and something to use to give your face a little attention, why not? For 49p? Just don’t expect massive results and it’s 49p well spent.
