  • Christmas Stocking Fillers For Under £1.00 in Home Bargains

Now we’ve entered the month of November, lots of people are either starting, in the middle of, or finishing buying Christmas presents for their nearest and dearest. There are certain things though that nobody wants to spend a small fortune on. Whether that’s teacher gifts, stocking fillers or what some people call ‘small wrap ups’. So with a tiny budget of £1.00 in mind, and thinking of bath, body and skincare small gift ideas, here is what I found in my local Home Bargains:

These bubble bath bombs I’ve seen in Home Bargains look like they could be bar shaped which you break and crumble into the bath. This means you don’t have to use it all in one go. I’ve seen this in two fragrances, which is tropical and sparkling wine scent. Nicely packaged in a small cardboard box, and only 59p each.

There’s two make-up brushes I’ve found in Home Bargains from Revolution London. One is an angled powder brush, the other a buffing brush. As someone who doesn’t use make-up the differences between the two are lost on me. But the brushes are large, bright in colour (pink or orange) and only 99p each!

Who doesn’t love the film Wicked? This apple & kiwi sheet mask is budget friendly way of having something skincare wise that’s loosely connected with the film. The mask has something printed on it, which I assume is Wicked related, which is fun! Packaging says this is suitable for all skin types but I personally would avoid if you have sensitive or specific skin concerns. 99p.

  • Budget Pampering Masking’s Aloe Vera Under Eye Masks

What I wouldn’t give to be able to walk into any store, shop online, and order any skincare products I fancied. This would be my idea of HEAVEN! Unfortunately, this won’t be happening. It’s called being a responsible spender. But it doesn’t mean I can’t get my skincare fix on the cheap. My local Tesco store sell a variety of different branded skincare products, including one called Masking. These are a selection of different sheets masks with one thing in common, they are all budget friendly. So, I thought I would try their Aloe Vera Under Eye Masks, which contain 2 sets of eye masks, at a budget busting cost of….£1.00!

Masking Aloe Vera Under Eye Masks
    Why did I buy this?

I was actually buying a few pieces for a friend’s birthday. I thought some sheet face masks would be nice and I grabbed these for her as well. But as I put them in the basket, I realised how much I fancied them. So for £1.00 I thought I might as well buy myself a sachet too!

What are these supposed to do?

These eye masks are supposed to leave the under-eye area feeling fresher, soothed and more relaxed thanks to them containing aloe vera. They are also designed to help with puffiness.

What do you get & How are these packaged?

You don’t get just one pair of eye masks you get two! These come in the typical sachet type packaging, but the masks are housed in their own separate sachet. Joined to the other, which you can pull a part. So, no need to worry about ruining one pair because the packaging is open and can’t be re-sealed.

These don’t look very fancy. But you can’t help but know these contain aloe vera thanks to the illustrations all over the white coloured sachets. Basic but look wise is acceptable.

    Ingredients

Some of the ingredients include water, glycerin, aloe vera juice, witch hazel, horse chestnut seed extra and caffeine.

    In Use

When I took a pair out of the sachet, I realised these are almost gel/rubber like in texture rather than typical sheet mask texture. When you take them out there are coverings on them you have to take off. These stop them from sticking together. These weren’t the most serum-soaked eye masks I’ve ever used but placing them onto the skin I found they were very cooling. Eye mask shaped, easy to place on and stayed on throughout the recommended 15-20 minutes of wear. I enjoyed wearing these.

When I took these off after 20 minutes, I added a little of the remaining serum from the sachet and dabbed it around my eyes. Roughly an hour later I had a look at my under eyes and they appeared to be no different (I didn’t expect anything to change to be honest!). What did surprise me was although my under eyes didn’t feel dry, they didn’t feel particularly hydrated. This was a little disappointing. I hoped for moisture and soft and supple under eyes, but I didn’t get this.

    Recommended?

For £1.00 I didn’t expect much. These are what they are and despite what I paid, these types of products are limited in what they can do. These were cooling on the skin, slightly fun to use and gives you a mindset of pampering. And that’s it. If you want something cheap and cheery, nothing too serious, slapping something on in the bath, go for it! If you want serious skincare, a moisture hit for tired, dried or aged under eyes then no. Treat these for what they are and you can’t go wrong.

  • Under £1.00? B Essentials Lemongrass & Ginger Botanical Infused Wax Melts

With the cost of living becoming more challenging, many of us are being more careful with what we spend our money on. It’s not nice when you feel you can’t or shouldn’t indulge in a bit of luxury or enjoy something that you normally like because of cost. But what if that item was super cheap? Could you get that little sense of pleasure without the price tag? This is where I can mention a recent wax melt purchase I made, which was incredibly affordable. I bought Better Homes & Gardens Lemongrass & Ginger Botanical Infused Wax Melts from Home Bargains for ….69p for 78g!

Better Homes & Gardens Lemongrass & Ginger Botanical Infused Wax Melts
    Why did I buy this?

I first saw the packaging and thought how attractive it looked, and then when I read it housed wax melts it was game over! Great and unusual packaging, good amount of wax melts weight wise and the fragrances I thought were so appealing, so I bought them!

    Packaging

I cannot tell you how cute I find the packaging of these because it’s not the usual way wax melts are presented. 10 wax melts live in a cardboard tub. The lid of this needs to be pulled off and there the wax melts are. It’s an eye catching sunshine yellow colour and looks very simple but quite traditional in a cute and not dated way.

    The Wax Melts

These are just adorable! These wax melts come in circular discs (slightly bigger than a £2.00 coin) with the letter B embossed on them. Cream in colour with what looks like dried herbs peeping through the wax. Yellow and orange in colour, so I’m guessing these are either lemongrass or ginger. Whatever these pieces are it makes these wax melts look very botanical, exceptionally pretty and very inviting.

    Fragrance

These wax melts are the perfect combination of lemongrass and ginger. It’s clean and fresh, with the sweet and uplifting scent of the lemongrass. You get that small hit of citrus but it’s not the same zest you get from lemon and not as harsh. There’s warmth and a touch of spice from the ginger. I couldn’t love this scent any more than what I do.

    In Melt

I popped two of these wax melts in my wax warmer which sits in my living room. Without it being turned on I could smell these. I thought these would melt super quick because of their size and thickness but these actually took quite a while. I suspect this was because of the fact they contained pieces of dried herbs. Either way they melted slowly and beautifully, filling the air with their gorgeous fragrance.

    Strength & Longevity

These wax melts are medium in strength. I suspect if they were in a smaller room possibly strong. What I loved about these was catching this fragrance while being in in a different room and not in the room these were melting in. Their cleanliness, the warming element. Totally inviting yet not too powerful. It just came across incredibly natural. Longevity is very good. I’ve melted the same two wax melts for hours and I still get the same fragrance and strength.

    Recommended?

I had a feeling these were special when I picked them up in store and had a quick sniff of them. But you can never be too sure what wax melts are like until you melt them. The quality of these is undeniable. They are packaged in an unassuming but attractive way. The look of these wax melts is beautiful, unusual and definitely screams ‘botanical’. But the most important thing is the fragrance is divine! Ideal for those who love their clean, fresh and citrusy scents. I just can’t fault these, and for the price these are an absolute steal! Recommended? YES! Not only for personal use but THE perfect gift to give a wax melt lover without breaking the bank, so buy a few. Hint hint…CHRISTMAS!
