  • Gin & Tonic Soy Wax Melt Pot By Pretty Home Aromas

As a wax melt lover and user, I have my favourite fragrance families and scents I like to use regularly. But I also like to try new and unusual scented wax pieces as well. Pretty Home Aromas (formally Pretty Candles) is a wax melt vendor I’ve wanted to purchase from for awhile. It seemed the perfect opportunity to try them out when they had a 50% off sale towards the end of last year/beginning of this. The first Pretty Home Aromas wax melt pot that I melted was Gin & Tonic. This cost 60p (30g) down from £1.20.

Pretty Home Aromas Gin & Tonic Wax Pot
    Why did I buy this?

I LOVE gin! But how does this translate into fragrance and wax? This was too intriguing to miss out on and I needed to know what this was like scent wise.

    How does this look?

Gin & Tonic Wax Melt Pot comes in a small, clear, lidded pot. The wax itself looks so pretty in a simple way. It has a marble like look to it made up of mint green and white colours. Lovingly lavished with a healthy sprinkle of green coloured glitter on top.

    Pretty Home Aromas Scent Description

The sharp scent of gin blended with a zingy citrus tonic.

    In Melt

This melted evenly and quickly. And when it was totally molten it turned into a pool of glittery sea moss green coloured liquid. It took very little time for the fragrance to be released as the scent was clearly there when cold before it warmed through.

    Fragrance

Gin & Tonic is a fresh and clean scent. Zesty in more of a lime way rather than lemon. Sharp but not overpowering and quite energising. It’s so hard to describe this scent as its not a fruity inspired gin fragrance but more the traditional, simple but delicious gin served with tonic…and this literally is THAT smell!

    Strength & Longevity

I wasn’t too sure how strong this would be as I used half of this little pot, but goodness me! I put this on in the kitchen in the morning and by afternoon this had travelled to the living room. So strength is medium to strong. Longevity is excellent. This has been melting for 3 days for a good number of hours at a time and the scent is still there. I’ve only changed the wax because I wanted a change not because the fragrance had gone from this.

What I love about Gin & Tonic Wax Melt Pot is its the total opposite to other gin inspired wax melts I’ve tried. The one’s I’ve melted before have been sweet and fruity , whereas this is zesty and clean. It’s one of those scents I think the majority of people would love because in an odd way its so neutral. A great one for the kitchen as it would help to cut through smells and a perfect melt during Spring and Summer. So this is definitely a winner!

  • Lavender Cottage’s Cocoa Butter Soy Wax Melt Pot

I never need more wax melts but that doesn’t stop me buying more! Lavender Cottage, formally Mulberry Lane, is a company I’ve ordered from before, but hadn’t tried their wax again since they rebranded last year. So I felt it was a great time to order for my friend and a myself and discover some new scents ( perfect excuse!). Along with other Summer inspired scents that got placed in my shopping basket, I ordered Cocoa Butter wax melt pot to try out as well. Normally this costs £2.50, but was half price at £1.25.

    Why did I buy this?

There is a certain skincare/hair care brand that does a cocoa butter lotion which I grew up with, and the scent of it is recognisably after one whiff, AND I LOVE IT! Never smelt it in wax melt form and was dying to see what this was like.

Mulberry Lane’s Cocoa Butter Wax Pot
    Packaging

Like many wax melt pots…yep you guessed it…the 47g wax is in a pot! Lidded, with a a fantastic, crisp picture of pure cocoa butter pieces on the front showing what scent you get.

    How does this look?

Colour of the wax is cream. On the top its lightly dusted with various sized hexagon shaped flat gold glittery pieces. Turn the wax around ( the pot except label is see through ) and you can see the wax is actually segmented. Its one piece but divided up in 6 segments which makes breaking up for use easy.

    In melt

I used 3 pieces of this wax because of where my wax warmer was positioned in my kitchen, but 2 should be fine for most wax users. Steadily and evenly it melted which meant the scent crept up rather than pushed into the air straight away.

    Fragrance

Now…this scent really surprised me, in a good way I might add. It didn’t have that cocoa butter lotion smell to me. In fact, it was much more complex. It does have that slight cocoa butter element to it but but has a fruity undertone to it, almost peach like. Such a hard one to describe but I think a universal scent as its beautiful, not overpowering and very different to other scents I’ve experienced in wax.

    Strength & Longevity

Strength is a medium, but of course can be adjusted a little if you add more wax, but strength wise this is perfect. This type of strength I don’t feel should be pushing up into your nostrils and should just ‘ be there ‘. I’ve melted this so far for at least 16 hours over 2 days and its still packing a beautiful punch. So thumbs up for both strength and how long it lasted.

    Recommended?

Most definitely! I can’t see many people NOT liking this. I can understand why this is part of Lavender Cottage’s Summer wax melt collection but in all honesty I would be happy to melt this anytime of the year as its delicious and quite different so one to add to anyone’s wax collection.
