  • Home of Honey’s Ghost Wax Melt Snap Bar

Let’s talk home fragrance, more specifically wax melts. We all have our favourite scents, a go to fragrance, THAT comforting smell that breathes life into a room. What are yours? I like lots of different scents, especially those that have a perfume type feel and smell to them. So I was very excited to use the recently gifted Home of Honey’s Ghost Wax Melt Snap Bar. I hoped it would provide a pretty scent to the room I used it in. Did it deliver?

Home of Honey’s Ghost Wax Melt Snap Bar
    Packaging

Home of Honey’s Ghost Wax Melt Snap Bar comes in the standard clear, plastic casing. Easy to store, easy to open and close and overall practical.

    How does it look?

This flat, 5 segmented wax bar is a gorgeous shade of pink, with a dark swirl of pink running through it.

    Fragrance

This is a clear mix of rose and white florals, so giving depth (rose) and something lighter and less heavier in smell (white). There’s a slight fruitiness to this so it’s quite uplifting and overall a very pretty fragrance. This SMELLS like a perfume. Is it a dupe of the fragrance Ghost? Dare I confess I’ve never actually smelt it but if it smells like this I need to!

    Strength & Longevity

The strength of Ghost is light to medium. It’s not the strongest scent I’ve ever smelt but it lightly lingers. I think this is how the particular scent behaves because I’ve had different brands of this before and they act the same why. It’s noticeable and I think it’s the right strength for the type of fragrance it is. Longevity is decent. I’ve had this melted for a few hours over two days and it hasn’t died and I still get hits of it.

    Recommended?

This is a beautiful fragrance. If you love your perfume inspired scents and those that are more on the ‘pretty’, floral side, this is for you! I can’t see too many people who wouldn’t like this because it’s not offensive and incredibly nice on the nose. Only £2.50 for this wax melt snap bar and is available on the website here.

  • New In Home Bargains!

A store that never fails to bring in new, affordable products for skin, hair and body is Home Bargains. Their personal care products is always my favourite things to look for and to buy. With a variety of different brands available being sold lower than the rrp, no wonder certain products are popular. But what have I recently spotted for sale in my local store?

    New in Home Bargains
Dr Paw Paw’s Lip Scrub & Lip Balm Duo

This is such a handy set considering the time of the year we are in. It’s getting warmer which means lips can get drier and need more moisture added. Dr Paw Paw’s Lip Scrub & Lip Balm Duo means you can get rid of any dry, flaky skin and then immediately moisturise them. Price £3.99.

Dr Paw Paw’s Lip Scrub & Lip Balm Duo
    Dove’s Nourishing Lip Balm

Dove is one of those everyday, well known brands that many people will have used and bought at some point. It’s well liked, trusted, readily available and the price point is ok. Dove’s Nourishing Lip Balm contains jojoba oil and shea butter extras which should soothe, smooth and moisturise lips. Price £1.49.

    Dove’s Nourishing Lip Balm
    Faith in Nature’s Body Washes

I only spotted the Aloe Vera version of Faith in Nature. It’s a brand that people head towards if they want their body care products to be more natural in regards to ingredients. Not only is the focus on what’s put into their products, but what’s left out of them e.g parabens and SLS. Price £1.99 for 400ml.

    Timotei’s Shampoos & Conditioners

Not a haircare brand I’ve ever used but feels like a blast from the past, is Timotei. I couldn’t help noticing these in the shampoo and conditioner section because the bottles looked very appealing. There were different versions available for different hair types. I noticed two in the form of Hydrating and Strengthening. Price £1.99 each for 300ml.

    Timotei’s Shampoos & Conditioners

So these are just a few of the latest products in Home Bargains for hair, body and face. All branded, all affordable but availability can be store dependant so worthwhile checking your store to see if they are in.

  • Teacher Gifts of Home Fragrance Products For Under £5.00

It’s getting closer to that time of year where many people want to thank the teachers who have been educating and looking after their children for the last school year. I’ve spent many years buying gifts for multiple teachers for both of my children, so I know how it can be difficult to get affordable, nice and not the norm gifts for them. I can imagine it’s hard for others too if they don’t want to buy the usual mug, diaries or biscuits. So I’ve kept my eyes peeled for affordable home fragrance products that would make nice gifts for teachers in both ASDA and Home Bargains.

Why choose home fragrance as a gift?

Most people use some form of home fragrance products in their homes. They’re practical, can be used for decoration and fragrance. Overall home fragrance products is a little more thoughtful than other potential gifts.

    ASDA – Tinned Candles

My local ASDA has a good selection of home fragrance products. I spotted these new tinned candles because they looked great, good variety of fragrances and were only £2.00 each! They looked more expensive than what they were and even on it’s own would make a nice gesture.

    Home Bargains – Reed Diffusers

I spotted two different brands of reed diffusers, two different price points with different scents available. The first one I spotted was James & Co Fragrance Reed Diffusers. 100ml in size and scents included French Lavender and Vanilla, each costing only £1.79. The other brand I saw was from Wax Lyrical. 100ml in size and only in one fragrance which was Coastal Breeze. This was a little more pricey at £2.99, but still not particularly expensive.

James & Co Fragrance Reed Diffuser

I also spotted two jar candles which looked very appealing. One in the brand of Yankee Candle in different scents. I picked up Cupcake Party. This was a good sized candle (not massive but not small either) and cost only £3.99. The other was Wickford & Co, and these seemed to be cocktail scented. The jars were striking, fun fragrances and only £2.99.

    Wickford & Co jar candles

There were so many more fragrance products available in both of these stores. But the ones I mentioned grabbed my attention because of price, how they looked, fragrances available and having a sneaky sniff of them made me interested! Pop one of these in a gift bag alone or with something else, and this would be nice gift to receive at the end of the school year.

  • Glow’s Sol de Janeiro Dupe Perfume Mist Is Back, But Should You Buy It?

Dupes. A dupe of a product used to be frowned upon not that long ago, but most of us are loving these types of products now. To get a similar product, not necessarily identical, at a cheaper price is what most people want and they’re happy to buy them. Sol de Janeiro is a well known popular brand but is very pricey. Anything that resembles their products is instantly a good seller. This is why Glow‘s Cherry Bomb & Jasmine Blooms Perfume Mist sold so well when it first landed in discount store Home Bargains. But now that it’s back, if you missed it the first time, should you buy it now?

Glow’s Cherry Bomb & Jasmine Blooms Perfume Mist
    Why did I buy this?

I bought this and another version months ago as a small gift for my daughter. She’s been asking for Sol de Janeiro body mists for months but I didn’t want to buy them for £20 plus for no real reason. So this is what she got instead.

    Packaging

250ml of fragrance comes in a large, clear (but tinted), plastic spray bottle with a white lid. A very basic white print of the brand and fragrance name is on the front. Although the bottle is practical it looks very cheap and has no designer look to it. Appealing? Not massively, but it’s noticeable when sat on shelves so will catch your eye.

    Fragrance

This is a mix of floral and musk. Floral wise, it’s not heavy but it’s there and pretty. There’s a comforting sweetness to this which I suspect is vanilla. Included is some fruity element which is probably cherry (it doesn’t smell cherry like to me). Glow’s Cherry Bomb & Jasmine Bloom Perfume Mist actually smells really good and both myself and my daughter love the scent.

    Strength & Longevity

Both strength and longevity unfortunately are poor. When I initially spray this (onto clothes not on skin), I have to use a lot to get a decent level of strength. The type of fragrance this is it should have an immediate ‘pow’ to it but it doesn’t. And the longevity is pretty much the same. It doesn’t last well and would need to be reapplied ALOT for the scent to stay short term.

    What does my daughter think?

She used this for a short time and then stopped. She loved how this smelt, but even she mentioned the fragrance doesn’t last. She also found the bottle too big to carry with her to school so not great to travel around with. In the end she gave up using it and hasn’t used it since I initially purchased it months ago.

Is this a Sol de Janerio Dupe?

Honestly? I have no idea! I’ve not had the chance to smell any of their mists so I can’t comment. I can see how it looks somewhat similar packaging wise but it’s not of the same standard.

    Recommended?

The fragrance smells great BUT the quality in regards to strength and longevity just isn’t there, so not the best £3.99 spent. There are better quality body/perfume mists out there on the market for the same price if not less. Give this a swerve.
