  • Is Primark’s £1.50 Bath Fizzer Good Value?

    Would I call myself a bit of a bath bomb snob? I love baths and whatever goes into it I want it to be good in quality and look. But quality doesn’t always have to come at a cost. So what I try to do is not discount the cheaper bath bombs or fizzers out there and be open minded. And this is why I’ve bought some bath products from Primark, including their Guava Peach Bath Fizzer. £1.50 for 200g.

    Why did I buy this?

    I find myself wandering around the beauty section in Primark more and more every time I visit my local store. The bath bombs/fizzers and bubble bars always look quite appealing, and this one caught my attention because of it’s look and size.

    How does this look?

    Hexagon in shape and absolutely MASSIVE! Over 2 cms in depth and over 10 cm across. This bath fizzer is in a cute shade of purple, with the middle of it covered in what appears to be salt granules. These are in three different colours, which are purple, orange and yellow. Quite a simple design but very eye catching.

    Fragrance

    I’m not going to lie, I’m quite disappointed with the lack of scent with this one. What I got was a chalky scent, that powdery smell you can get if you sniff a bath bomb. There is the smallest hint of fragrance but it’s not really obvious. Slightly fruity but honestly pretty insignificant.

    In the bath

    I popped this on top of an already run, warm bath. This spun around releasing foam from the top and it’s sides, and slowly turned the clear water into a shade of blush pink. I didn’t expect it to do much in the water but what it did do I liked and enjoyed watching it.

    I did notice the fragrance of this was slightly stronger in the water than before it was used, but not by much.

    Sitting in the bath with this bath fizzer, I didn’t feel it added to my relaxation physically or mentally. I probably enjoyed this more watching it without me being in the bath than being in it. It didn’t add much to my bathing experience.

    My skin has been temperamental recently so was concerned this bath fizzer would irritate or dry my skin out in some way. It did neither. It added nothing to the skin (fragrance, moisture) but took nothing away from it as well.

    Disappointments?

    If this had a proper fragrance to this I think this bath fizzer would have been so much better. How can something look so pretty but not have the scent to match?

    Recommended?

    There are different types of bath bomb/bath fizzer uses. One type will throw anything in the bath, even if it sounds and looks like a brick and they want something cheap and cheerful. The other goes for what it looks like and is happy with coloured water as the end result. And there are others who want something that gives them joy from the moment they look at it, from when it performs in the bath and provides them with a sensory experience once they slip into the bath tub. This bath fizzer isn’t for the last person. If you want something that looks nice, colours the bath, does a bit of a dance and colours water get this. Don’t want to spend £4.00 plus on a bath bomb and go cheap? This ticks the box. But if you want something special, spend more and buy a better quality bath fizzer or bath bomb from somewhere else.

    Never thought I would be a fan of something so softly scented, but when the dreaded curse of hay fever kicked in, this was perfect for me! Foam, non stripping and lightly fragranced. Cotton Smooth Micellar Body Wash is ideal for this time of year. Beauty Laundrette are a fun and interesting range available from the UK based store Superdrug.

    My First Wax Melt Order From Glow

    Are you a wax melt fan? These wax snap bars from Glow are the perfect purchase if you want highly scented and affordable wax melts to fragrance your home. I still need to work my way through these, but these smell and look amazing! This UK wax vendor gets the thumbs up from me!

    New foot care products from Aldi. Great timing for these products to be released. Not just for general pampering but of course, getting ready for Spring and Summer and more open foot wear.

    This was a great bargain price wise! If you bought this recently you will know, and will be pretty pleased with yourself that you got it for under 50p! Super cheap, lovely (but light) fragrance, bubbles, which creates a nice bath for all the family.

  • February Reviews Round Up, What Did I Use From My Stash?

    If this year continues to fly by as quick as it has the last few months, it will be Christmas in the blink of an eye! Honestly, it really is galloping at 100mph. As much as I would like things to slow down a little, I am excited to see what unfolds in the near future.     My first time using the Superdrug’s own fragrance range, and most certainly will not be the last! This is a men’s fragrance, but don’t worry, it can be used and loved by anyone if you like typical masculine notes in fragrance. I actually use this most days layered alongside other fragrances I have, and it smells amazing!

    Not everyone can or wants to spend up to £7.00 on a bubble bar from the high street (you know where I’m talking about!). If you want to spend less than £2.00 for a cute looking bubble bar, head to Primark! Was it the most amazing bath product I’ve ever used? No. But affordable, pleasant and would make someone smile if given as a small gift.

    Skincare face masks are not a magic wand to skincare problems, but they can provide some instant pampering and short term positives such as hydration. This skincare face mask from Simple I didn’t think I would like it so much, but I really did! Lovely on the skin, very relaxing and hydrated my skin brilliantly.

    Primark isn’t a place just to buy underwear and leggings. It’s worthwhile having a look at their skincare range too. Their balm to oil cleanser, for £3.00, is a great introduction to this type of cleanser. It did it’s job, easy to use and great for dry skin.

    Not a typical looking bath fizzer. Didn’t behave like any old bath bomb. Super pretty and I enjoyed using this. I can’t wait to try other versions from this range. Yet again, another interesting find from Superdrug.

    Everyone seems to head towards a full face skincare mask. But how many people grab the eye versions? Garnier have different versions of their eye tissue masks. This wasn’t my favourite in all honesty, but it was fun to use and super cooling on the skin.

    Love Aldi! Over the last couple of years I’ve enjoyed seeing and trying their own ranges in skincare,body care, bath and body and home fragrance. Why? The price, the quality and the cheeky dupe thrown in for good measure is worth a buy and try.

  • Holler And Glow’s Beauty and the Shell Bath Soak

    Most of the time, people like bath bombs and bath fizzers because of how they look. Unless you’ve used them before, your initial reason to buy something is based on how it looks and possibly how it smells (if packaging allows it). They come in all kinds of shapes, sizes and colours, and this is what keeps them interesting for me. I like to keep my eye out for bath products that are different in appearance to what I’ve used before. One brand I first tried in 2020 is Holler and Glow, available from Superdrug. One of the products I bought from their range last year was their Beauty and the Shell Bath Soak. Normally this costs £3.50, but I bought this when it was half price.

    Why did I buy this?

    I bought this online not in person. So what drew me in was the look of this based on picture alone. It looked cute, great colouring and came (still does) in 3 different versions so there were choices. At the time they were half price so it made purchasing this incredibly affordable.

    What is this?

    This is a bath fizzer that contains Vitamin E and Golden Chamomile Extract. It’s supposed to help nourish skin and soothe muscles.

    How does this look?

    This is a chunky, shell shaped bath fizzer. It’s not flat in shape or 2 dimensional. It’s quite a basic shell shape with grooves running down it on both sides, giving it a shell like appearance. This takes up the majority of the palm of my hand, so is a great size. The colouring of this is stunning! Mint green in shade, delicately sparkling with some form of pigment and/or glitter on it, making this look like an absolute jewel from the sea! The shimmer is gold, giving the shell an iridescence to it, making the mint green colour pop!

    By the time I took Beauty and the Shell Bath Soak out of it’s plastic, some of the pigment/glitter came off (as you can see below). It did take away a little the initial WOW factor I got before unwrapping it, but still was pretty. It just looked more weathered!

    Fragrance

    It’s not a powerful scent, but what I got was something quite earthy and floral in fragrance. It’s pleasant enough, probably not my favourite scent of all time to smell, but makes sense considering it includes Chamomile.

    In the bath

    I put this into a warm bath. It fizzed a little and turned the clear water into a lovely shade of mint green. No foam or bubbles and nothing else materialised. It dissolved pretty easily and quickly, and although the bath itself looked very plain despite the water, the aroma it gave was soft and somehow very calming and enjoyable.

    This has got to be one of the most plainest and simple baths I’ve ever had. But do you know what? It was very relaxing! I don’t know whether it was the fragrance or ingredients or whatever it was, but both my mind and body were in a good place and I was very surprised! The fragrance didn’t blow my head off, the colour of the water didn’t glow in the dark because it was so bright and I wasn’t suffocated with bubbles.

    No drying of the skin or irritation. But at the same time this wasn’t very moisturising. No obvious fragrance left on the skin and no shimmer on myself or anything noticeable on the bath.

    This product has stumped me! I shouldn’t like it because it does seem so basic in the bath but I think I do! And I must because the other two versions, which I have in my stash, I really want to try out so I think this has won me over! It’s easy to say who this isn’t for and who I wouldn’t recommend this than who should buy this. Do you want bubbles, fragrance, bright colours and a theatrical bath art show? Don’t buy this! If you are a fan of bath soaks that lightly fragrance and colour a bath, or you just want something in the bath but for whatever reason it has to be minimal, you might like this. You can see how this is a difficult product to review when on paper I should dislike it, right?
