  • February Round Up, What Products Did I Use?

I’m sat here reflecting on how fast February as a month has gone, unlike January. January DRAGGED! February literally has come and gone like the money in my wallet and now we’re saying hello to March. So what did the month of February bring to me product wise and what did I use?

    Products used in February
Bubble Up’s The Never Skip Dessert Collection

Such a cute bath and shower collection from Bubble Up. A donut shaped bath fizzer and a sweetly fragranced shower scrub. A super affordable body treat from Home Bargains at a cost of £2.99. Maybe more suitable for the younger generation who want a bit of cheap pampering.

    Lip-C Smile’s Raspberry Lip Oil

Cold weather means dry lips, and it’s always nice to have an alternative available for the humble lip balm. Lip-C Smile’s Raspberry Lip Oil definitely was something different, fun and a practical lip product to use to help combat dry and cracked lips.

Revolution Beauty’s Creative Eau de Toilette

Revolution Beauty has a good, varied collection of fragrances including Revolution Beauty’s Creative Eau de Toilette. This is a fragrance both myself and my 11 year old daughter grab in the morning so suitable for different ages.

Glow’s Pink Sugar Foaming Bath Salts

(gifted) Glow’s new Pink Sugar Foaming Bath Salts was definitely a fragrant, foaming treat for the bath. If you love bath salts and foaming bath creams/gels but want to combine the the two, this is that killer combo!

    LUSH’s Snow Dragon Bath Bomb

If you love your bath bombs at some point you will have purchased something from LUSH. And boy did I buy during their Boxing Day Sale! Snow Dragon Bath Bomb was bought from the sale. Super cute, lovely colour and size but in the bath? It was ok but didn’t thrill me. But great for the price I paid (£1.75).

So these were the products I used in the month of February. Which one was my favourite? They were all very different but probably Glow’s Pink Sugar Bath Salts!

  • Bath & Shower Bubble Up’s The Never Skip Dessert Collection

Sometimes a girl (or a guy) needs a bit of pampering. We can’t all go to a spa, get a facial or go on holiday. But we all can enjoy a bit of relaxing or alone time in the bath or/and shower. This is how I unwind and try to treat the skin I’m in with some nice bath and shower products. One set I’ve been dying to try since Christmas has been Bubble Up’s The Never Skip Dessert Collection. I bought this from Home Bargains for £2.99 late last year.

Bubble Up The Never Skip Dessert Collection
    Why did I buy this?

I’ve used Bubble Up’s bubble bars before and loved them. So when I saw this I wanted to treat myself to some budget friendly products I hoped I would enjoy. The value was exceptional, the set looked appealing and the products were totally new to me. Why would I NOT buy this?

    What’s in this set?

You’re An Angel Cake The Shower Scrub and a Donut Bath Fizzer.

    Packaging

This two piece gift set comes in a rectangular shaped cardboard box with a partially clear front so you can see what’s inside. Almost cartoon like bubbles all over the box, with it being mostly pink and white in colour with black detailing. How it’s presented is fun, playful, youthful and eye catching.

    The Shower Scrub

220g of You’re An Angel Cake The Shower Scrub comes in a tub and colour wise matches the box. Looking at this scrub, it looks like a very thick body lotion without the sheen a body butter has. Small scrub particles are visible and overall it does look really inviting. The fragrance of this is very bakery based and could resemble the smell of cake, but more of an interpretation rather than real life.

    Donut Bath Fizzer

Same size and shape as a an actual ring donut. Pink and yellow in colour, with what appears to be sprinkles on the top. This really is a fun looking bath fizzer and a great size too! The fragrance of this is slightly sweet but not specific enough for me to say it smells like XY or Z.

    How did they perform?

The shower scrub is a beautiful, creamy texture which rubbed over my body nicely in the shower. It was enjoyable to use and the scent was very comforting. The scrub pieces I could feel as they were big enough to give an exfoliation action. You’re An Angel Cake The Shower Scrub rinsed off easily, my skin felt clean and reasonably smooth. Nice to use but I’ve used scrubs that really made my skin feel ‘wow’ after use and this didn’t.

Donut Fizzer when placed in the bath immediately released colour with the bath water going from clear to a shade of pink. It sort of just sat on the bottom of the bath lightly fizzing away. No dancing or movement, just there. When I picked it up it broke into pieces. There was no real bath art to this. No foam but a little fragrance during my bathing experience. Being in the bath with this was just ok.

    Recommended?

This actually is a nice bath and shower set. Both pieces look great, smell good and are both decent sizes. How much I paid for this is a bargain, and this set would be perfect for a pre-teen or a teenager. Anyone older may want something a bit more pampering, and I personally fall into that bracket. I will happily use the shower scrub until it finishes, but I wouldn’t repeat purchase this particular gift set for myself. I POSSIBLY would buy this as a gift for the right person though.

Can you get hold of this now? The only place I can see this gift set being available is from The Perfume Shop for £7.99. Not a bad price, but no where near the budget beating price I paid!

  • Bath Time Fun with I Heart Revolution Lulu Bath Fizzer

I love a bath! I love laying in the water with a book in my hands, bubbles up to my neck and enjoying some me time. One thing I haven’t done recently is use many bath bomb/fizzer type products. If I’m honest, it’s because I haven’t been bothered! But I’m getting back into the mood of using these bath treats and have opted to use I Heart Revolution’s Lulu Bath Fizzer on one cold and dreary evening. Bought from fashion online retailer ASOS, this was on sale at £2.50 down from £4.00.

I Heart Revolution Lulu Bath Fizzer
    Why did I buy this?

I was buying some clothes for my mini me and I couldn’t help but look at the bath and beauty products on sale, which this included. The look of it was cute, price was cheap and I could see this being part of a nice Christmas gift for a friend. Me being me, I bought one for the friend and one for me as well!

    How does it look?

Shaped like a sat down teddy bear in a purple/pink colour. There are no added details on this. But you can see the basic shape and appearance of a bear e.g ears, nose, arms, legs and a bow tie. This looks and feels like a bath bomb/fizzer. It’s solid and chalky in texture. What I like most about this is its size which is generous. This is just short of 3.5 inches in height and the same at its widest part across. All of it simply wrapped up in clear cellophane and finished off with ribbon and label.

    Fragrance

On the label this says Lulu bath fizzer has a passionfruit fragrance. When I took this out of its wrapping I got a chalky smell to it, lightly sweet, but not passionfruit. In fact, I couldn’t tell you what it smelt like because it wasn’t a particular scent and definitely not strong enough! Not unpleasant but nothing to wow about.

    In the bath

I popped this onto a full bath of warm water and immediately it fizzed and slowly bled an incredibly vibrant, deep purple/pink stream of colour into the water. Despite how cute this bath fizzer looked before it went into the bath, it looked less sweet as it dissolved. It moved around the water, which was fun to watch, but the shape wasn’t very clear. My daughter made a comment that it resembled something you would find in a toilet, and I agreed! The colour it produced though was impressive and intense, with the smallest amount of foam left on the top.

Fragrance? The chalky smell hit the back of my throat at times which wasn’t what I wanted. The fragrance was very weak, and still not specific enough for me to say anything more than the fact it was slightly sweet in scent.

But overall I enjoyed my time in the bath with my book and phone to hand, while giving off slightly horror film vibes laying in brightly coloured bath water like a murder victim. I was worried about this irritating my skin as it’s been ‘difficult’ recently, but no issues there. And it didn’t dry my skin out either.

    Clean up

Ever worried your bath might get stained because of the colour your bath bomb or fizzer has left your bath tub? I was a bit concerned with this but no staining and clean up was a breeze and no different to any other cleaning of the bath.

    Recommended?

If you like a bath fizzer or two and you can get this for the price I paid or less, why not? The thing that I found disappointing was the lack of fragrance. It should have smelt fruity like passionfruit and it should be a decent strength. Also, not the prettiest thing to float around in the water. So not the perfect bath fizzer, but the size, look and colour it turns the water into and of course the price makes this a decent purchase, especially for a stocking filler.

Psssss. At the time of writing this post this bath fizzer is still available for £2.50 on ASOS if you want it.

  • Saving Money on Christmas Pampering Purchases from ASOS

Christmas is a matter of weeks away. For those who put off buying gifts when the shops told us to because it was ‘too early'(which starting from September), it isn’t now. The majority of shoppers are currently buying their Christmas gifts as I write this post. They are possibly on a budget thanks to the current economic climate, and some may have little time and inspiration. So, I’m here to try and point you in directions which can save you some money AND time with your shopping. That’s why I’m going to focus today on the fashion online retailer of ASOS. So, what do they have in the form of Christmas pampering ideas?

    For the bath

There are quite a few bath products that are available on ASOS at time of writing this post that are on sale. Examples of these budget finds are I Heart Revolution Lulu Teddy Bear Bath Fizzer down from £4.00 to £2.50. Friends Pizza Bath Salts down from £15.00 to £9.00. Various bath salts from different brands are lower in price including Frank Body In Your Dreams Sleepy Epsom Salt and Scrub, down from £13.99 to £8.50. Crayola Colour Crayon Trio Jazz Pizzazz down from £18.00 to £5.40.

So why should you consider purchasing from ASOS?

It’s a popular online store which means many people shop for clothes and accessories on their site anyway. So why not purchase your bath, body and skincare products from there too? Even better when items have been reduced in price. But you know what the best bit is? They regularly have discount codes available. In fact, within the last 3 weeks they’ve released 3 x 20% discount codes for sale items which means all the things mentioned above would have had an additional 20% off!

    Anything else?

This isn’t a bargain or sale mention, but did you know they sell LUSH products through ASOS? Not the whole range but a decent selection, such as LUSH Snow Fairy Bath and Body Discovery Kit for £17.00, LUSH Cosy Christmas Bath and Body Discovery Kit for £16.00 and more.

As always, double check the prices of items on sale at ASOS and make sure it’s the best possible prices. Ideally try and squeeze a few more pounds out of the cost by using discount codes AND don’t forget using a cashback site if possible! Happy shopping!x
