  • The Best Body Butter? Treacle Moon’s Rouge Love Story Body Butter

There are so many different forms of body moisturisers on the market to fit everyone’s body care needs. Body lotions, creams, oils, soufflés, there’s literally a product for everyone in various forms, fragrances and textures. Now that we’re coming into a cooler season this maybe the perfect time to switch up products used. One item I’ve slipped into my body care routine is Treacle Moon’s Rough Love Story Body Butter. How good is it?

    Why I’m using this

I bought a few of Treacle Moon’s body butters for gifting because they are perfect as presents. I saved one for myself, and felt my body really needed a more luxurious and thicker textured body moisturiser. I’ve been using Epimax Oatmeal Cream, but wanted something less ordinary, richer and if I’m honest I wanted something with fragrance so I could smell nice.

    Packaging

200ml of Treacle Moon’s Rough Love Story Body Butter comes in a plastic screw topped tub. It’s very basic but the lid with the product name, the brand and other words in different fonts and sizes, really makes it pop! It’s practical packaging. Easy to open and close, but more importantly no product is wasted because every last bit of body butter can be scrapped out.

    Consistency & Texture

White in colour. In the tub this looks thick and rich, as it doesn’t have any movement to it. Scooping it out it still has that richness and slip to it which we all want, but has a softness to it.

    Fragrance

This is supposed to be a Baccarat Rouge fragrance dupe. But I honestly haven’t smelt the original so can’t confirm or deny. What I would say is how this is scented is stand alone gorgeous! This is sweet, floral, but not a pretty floral scent a slightly heavier, darker one. It’s feminine, its intoxicating and definitely smells like a perfume type fragrance.

    On the skin

I was generous with the amount of body butter I used but I couldn’t help it! I took a decent amount into my hands, which felt thick but not solid and incredibly soft and silky smooth. Rubbing it onto my skin was so easy. I actually gasped because it felt amazing on! Rich, not greasy, moisturising, but protective. The formula is absolute perfection and a joy to use. It wasn’t heavy on the skin, but it was comforting. It left my skin with a healthy sheen to it not a shine. And what topped off the experience was the fragrance hitting me as I used this. It’s not overwhelming, but it’s enough to appreciate and enjoy it and take it in.

The feeling of my skin being moisturised, never felt as if it had left. My skin felt supple and soft for hours, and the fragrance was still there too. Of course, it didn’t have the same strength to it hours later compared to when first put it on, but it was there!

Why has it taken me so long to actually use this?? Treacle Moon’s Rough Love Story Body Butter is amazing! Great size, stunning texture, fabulous fragrance and enjoyable to use and have on from start to finish. So yes! Recommended 110%!

Treacle Moon’s Rouge Love Story Body Butter is available for £5.00 for 200ml in a few stores including Boots, along with other products from the brand which I dare you not to buy!

  • Glow’s Essentially Glow Body Butter

We all have a go to body cream or lotion that we grab to use because it always works. It could be the texture, the fragrance or how moisturising it feels on the skin that makes us love it. One that is definitely high up there on my favourites list is a body butter. It’s always been a body moisturiser I adore, so there’s always a few floating around in my body care collection. One of the newest ones to grace my bathroom shelf is Glow’s Essentially Glow Body Butter. I received this in their New Year New You January Subscription Box last month. So what is it like?

    Glow’s Essentially Glow Body Butter
    Packaging

This body butter comes in a cardboard tub, with a very firm lid keeping everything in place. Being made from this material means it’s fully recyclable and much more eco friendly than other materials.

    Texture

Essentially Glow Body Butter is whipped, solid but melt in the hands type of texture. Truly decadent in feel and goes from a solid to a liquid within a few seconds of being handled by warm hands or/and fingertips.

    Fragrance

This has a very calming and soothing scent to it, which is soft lavender with an almost citrusy kick to it underneath. Beautifully fragranced and ideal for night time use to help with relaxation.

    In use

There’s something very satisfying scooping this out of it’s tub. It’s quite solid, as I’ve already mentioned, and feels so rich and luxurious. I just knew my skin was in for a treat from that first moment. The amount it took to cover a finger tip was enough for each part of my body. I rubbed this into the palms of my hand and it quickly went from a solid to an oil. On the skin, it coated it beautifully, leaving it feeling moisturised and gave it a glistened look not a greasy appearance. Despite it being more oil based this felt on the skin not particularly heavy and very comfortable.

The fragrance was there. How this smells makes it perfect for night time use because it’s so relaxing, not distracting but gives the body a hug.

I’ve always been a body butter fan. There is zero change in that thought using Glow’s Essentially Glow Body Butter. The texture is unique and pampering, the fragrance is beautiful and it moisturises and cocoons the skin without making it look and feel oily. It’s a brilliant body product and I think everyone who likes a body butter really needs to try this out because this a perfection!

Not in stock at the time of writing this post, but keep your eyes peeled on the Glow website for updates because you need it!

  • My Favourite Body Care Products In 2023

A quick and easy way of making your skin look and feel good is in the form of a body moisturiser. Keeping the skin on the body hydrated gives it a smoother feel and a natural glisten. Not to mention you feel more comfortable in a moisturised body compared to a dry one. Throw on a good body scrub before the lotion/cream/oil stage gives even better results. No wonder I love body products so much! So what were my favourite body care products in 2023?

My Favourite Body Care Products In 2023
Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter

I was lucky to be gifted Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter. Angela from Glow wanted me to test this out as it was a new product at the time. What I found was this body butter was rich and solid in texture but melted into the skin like a dream. And the fragrance? Honestly? One of the best things I have ever smelt! Soothing, calming, fresh, a little musk, slightly sweet…stunning!

    Safa’s Skin Therapy Oil

An affordable (69p from Home Bargains), alternative to a traditional body moisturiser was Safa’s Skin Therapy Oil. Moisturising enough to use on it’s own or ideal to layer with other body products. This wasn’t heavy and too greasy, with an aromatherapy style fragrance to it. This was a good buy.

Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Body Butter

This body butter from Glow was just as good as the Amber & Lavender Body Butter version but different. Just as moisturising but the texture was a little different and more body butter like in consistency compared to Amber & Lavender Body Butter, which was a little more whipped. The fragrance of Raspberry Candy Floss Body Butter was mouth wateringly good and smelt as you would expect a candy flossed scented product to smell like!

    Glow’s Defence Moisturiser

Glow’s Defence Moisturiser was a brilliant product to use especially during the Summer. I didn’t always want to use heavy and greasy body creams, especially when my skin was feeling hot and irritated. This was light weight but had a slight slip to it, cooling on the skin with a fresh, minty fragrance.

Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub By LUSH

My first, and hopefully not my last, body scrub from LUSH (given to me by a friend). I have never used a scrub like this before. The colour was crazy (bright blue), the texture was almost jelly like and the fragrance was an earthy floral scent which was amazing. Plus it did a great job exfoliating my skin leaving it smooth and hydrated.

So these are my favourite body care products of 2023. I wonder what new products I will find to try out in 2024? Can’t wait!

  • Scrubee Body Butter By LUSH

I was given a generous stash of LUSH products from a friend recently. Not only was I incredibly thrilled and thankful for receiving such a thoughtful gift, I also knew I would enjoy using them. Why? The friend in question has near identical tastes to me bath and body product wise. So if she chose them I trusted them! One of the products I was fascinated by was Scrubee Body Butter.

    Scrubee Body Butter by LUSH
    What is this?

This is a solid body exfoliator and moisturiser. Containing grounded up coconut shells and almonds, this should buff off the dead skin cells leaving the skin on the body soft. With the addition of shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil, this is designed to moisturise, protect and leave the skin feeling smooth.

    How does this look?

Scrubee Body Butter is solid, slightly rounded and looks like a bee in it’s shape and appearance (sort of, minus wings). Off white in colour with peppered black stripes going across the body with two small eyes at the front. Very simple but super cute.

    Fragrance

Honey with a floral undertone to it. Absolutely stunning in scent, perfect for those who love their more sweeter fragrances but don’t want sugary sweet. I adore how this smells and could happily have everything and anything in this scent.

    How to use

Scrubee Body Butter can be used in either the bath or shower. Rub gently over damp skin and rinse off.

    In use

I applied this onto damp skin. What I did was use the rounded top of this product. This is where the exfoliating pieces are as they aren’t on the bottom of it. I expected the exfoliation to be underwhelming but it actually was quite good! I could feel it on my skin, it wasn’t too harsh but felt as if it was doing something.

Scrubee Body Butter, even on damp skin, acted like a solid body butter. It didn’t foam, it didn’t lather, it didn’t milk up. It just looked like it was warmed by my skin and left a physical layer of it on my body. So don’t confuse this for a form of body wash or soap because it isn’t.

Rinsing off wasn’t a rinse off as such. This was still on my skin even after attempting a rinse but my skin did feel very soft, smooth, highly moisturised and beautifully fragrant. Be mindful of your bath or shower tray when using this. My bath was slippery and needed a good rinse to get rid of it along with the exfoliation bits as some of these came away from the product.

    Recommended?

This is an odd product! When I first looked at it, it felt and looked like a fun but solid body butter. LUSH do sell these in various shapes and forms and this looked similar. But the fact you apply it onto damp skin threw me. Providing exfoliation confused me on top of this too! Once I understood what this was I found it a nice product. The look of this was cute, the fragrance to die for, good exfoliation and left my skin feeling great and moisturised. But if I’m honest I found using this a bit of a faff!

I would recommend this for someone with dry skin or wants to add lots of moisture to the skin on their body. And if you are looking for something different and unusual this could be THAT product. Not ideal for people who like their products simple, traditional and quick to use.

    Available from LUSH for £10.00.
