  • 3 New Lacura Products In Aldi

My local Aldi store can be hit, miss or maybe when it comes to new Lacura products. Sometimes the stock is plentiful of new lotions and potions, sometimes baskets and shelves look like a jumble sale. I was a little disappointed to find only a few new items in my store last week, but I did find 3 products which looked really interesting. So what did I find?

    Lacura’s Scalp & Body Scrub

Aldi’s Lacura Scalp & Body Scrub is a product that can be used on both the scalp and the body. This is to help remove dead skin and invigorate these areas which will help the look and feel of them. It’s an interesting product as I’ve never seen a scrub that can be used literally from head to toe. £3.99 for 250g.

Aldi’s Lacura Scalp & Body Scrub
    Lacura’s Body Crème

Aldi’s Lacura Body Crème is a rich and moisturising formulation for the skin. Ideal to use after the Scalp & Body Scrub, this is designed to really give the skin an added smoothness and hydration ideal for this time of the year. £3.99 for 250g.

    Lacura’s Handbag Fragrances

I found 3 different fragrances available in Aldi’s Lacura Handbag Eau de Parfums. I couldn’t get an idea on how these smelt due to packaging and no testers. But guessing due to how these look, I suspect one will be quite light, fresh and floral. One dark, heavier and seductive and the last one a cleaner and fresher fragrance. £1.99 for 15ml is affordable and a great product to travel with.

    Aldi’s Lacura Handbag Fragrances

So these are the three new products I’ve found in my local Aldi. I really loved the look of the fragrances, especially for my daughter. But the body butter and scrub did look luxurious and pampering. Are these dupes? Probably, knowing Aldi. The scrub and crème look and sound very similar to a brand called Quai. This is ALOT more expensive than the Lacura versions but I can’t deny the strong resemblance between their products and these.

If any of these products sound appealing, you really do need to check your local store asap because they won’t be there for long!

  • My Favourite Body Care Products In 2023

A quick and easy way of making your skin look and feel good is in the form of a body moisturiser. Keeping the skin on the body hydrated gives it a smoother feel and a natural glisten. Not to mention you feel more comfortable in a moisturised body compared to a dry one. Throw on a good body scrub before the lotion/cream/oil stage gives even better results. No wonder I love body products so much! So what were my favourite body care products in 2023?

My Favourite Body Care Products In 2023
Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter

I was lucky to be gifted Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter. Angela from Glow wanted me to test this out as it was a new product at the time. What I found was this body butter was rich and solid in texture but melted into the skin like a dream. And the fragrance? Honestly? One of the best things I have ever smelt! Soothing, calming, fresh, a little musk, slightly sweet…stunning!

Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter
    Safa’s Skin Therapy Oil

An affordable (69p from Home Bargains), alternative to a traditional body moisturiser was Safa’s Skin Therapy Oil. Moisturising enough to use on it’s own or ideal to layer with other body products. This wasn’t heavy and too greasy, with an aromatherapy style fragrance to it. This was a good buy.

    Safa’s Skin Therapy Oil
Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Body Butter

This body butter from Glow was just as good as the Amber & Lavender Body Butter version but different. Just as moisturising but the texture was a little different and more body butter like in consistency compared to Amber & Lavender Body Butter, which was a little more whipped. The fragrance of Raspberry Candy Floss Body Butter was mouth wateringly good and smelt as you would expect a candy flossed scented product to smell like!

Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Body Butter
    Glow’s Defence Moisturiser

Glow’s Defence Moisturiser was a brilliant product to use especially during the Summer. I didn’t always want to use heavy and greasy body creams, especially when my skin was feeling hot and irritated. This was light weight but had a slight slip to it, cooling on the skin with a fresh, minty fragrance.

Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub By LUSH

My first, and hopefully not my last, body scrub from LUSH (given to me by a friend). I have never used a scrub like this before. The colour was crazy (bright blue), the texture was almost jelly like and the fragrance was an earthy floral scent which was amazing. Plus it did a great job exfoliating my skin leaving it smooth and hydrated.

So these are my favourite body care products of 2023. I wonder what new products I will find to try out in 2024? Can’t wait!

  • Affordable Dupe Alert! Aldi’s New Lacura Almond Body Care Range

The supermarket Aldi never fail! Every few months there will be a new bath, body or skincare product that will catch your eye. It will look familiar but not identical to something that you’ve seen before. Give yourself a few seconds or minutes and you will figure out that Aldi have struck again with a dupe of a particular product or brand. The latest brand they’ve been ‘inspired’ by is L’Occitane En Provence and their almond body care range. So what has Aldi’s Lacura own brand released now?

Aldi’s Lacura Almond Body Care Range
    Lacura’s Almond Body Scrub

How this body scrub is packaged made me notice these three new products. One of the top ingredients in this scrub is shea butter. This should make this product a very nourishing and rich exfoliator, which is what you want at this time of year.

    Aldi’s Lacura Almondy Body Scrub
    Lacura’s Almond Cleansing Shower Oil

A shower oil isn’t something you see on the high street often, but I can imagine this would be indulgent and soothing on the skin. Great for dry skin or perfect for someone who wants something different from a shower gel or cream.

    Aldi’s Lacura Shower Oil
    Lacura’s Nourishing Body Lotion

With this being a lotion and not a cream I’m guessing this won’t be particularly thick. Perfect for those who want moisturising but with a lighter consistency and suitable for normal skin, possibly even dry.

    Aldi’s Lacura Almond Body Lotion
    What are they dupes of?

I’m comparing the products from Aldi to the L’Occitane equivalent by product type and packaging, not ingredients. Remember these are more likely to be ‘inspired’ by and not copies so there will be differences:

    Lacura’s Almond Shower Scrub 200ml – L’Occitane En Provence Almond Shower Scrub 250ml £21.50.

    Lacura’s Cleansing Shower Oil 200ml £4.99 – L’Occitane En Provence’s Almond Shower Oil 250ml £19.50.

    Lacura’s Almond Body Lotion 200ml £4.99 – L’Occitane En Provence’s Almond Milk Concentrate 200ml £44.00 or L’Occitane En Provence’s Almond Milk Veil 240ml £34.50.

How good these products are, their smells and textures I can’t comment on because I haven’t bought and used them. But in the past I have used at least one of their L’Occitane counterparts. Packaging wise the Lacura products look great, very stylish and VERY similar to the L’Occitane versions. Size wise these are decent and quite standard although smaller than L’Occitane’s. But the price difference is INSANE! I would definitely give this range a go and I think these make perfect Christmas gift ideas or stocking fillers. Even the type of products these are and it being an almond range is perfect for this time of year. Question is, how long will it take for these to disappear from stores?

  • A Different Kind Of Scrub, Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub By LUSH

Body scrubs are AMAZING! If you love texture when it comes to body care, and enjoy the satisfaction of a quick result from a product, a body scrub ticks the list. How many products are there that can give an immediate result of softer and smoother skin? A decent body scrub will do this every time! And this is why I love them. One brand I’ve never used a body scrub from is LUSH. I was recently given by a friend their Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub which retails at £13.00 for 300g and £26.00 for 665g.

Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub by LUSH
Why did I want to use this?

I’ve used lots of body scrubs from various brands and never used one from LUSH. I know what their bath products are like in the form of their bath bombs and bubble bars, but body scrubs? No idea. Plus, body exfoliating wise I’ve been very lazy and not really been doing this and this was the perfect excuse to use it and slip into my body care routine.

What is this supposed to do?

Like all scrubs, Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub is supposed to exfoliate the skin, get rid of dead skin leaving soft and smooth skin behind. It can also be used on the hair to cleanse it (I assume to wash with it?) and has antiseptic properties.

    Texture & Appearance

This is a vision! This body scrub is a beautifully vivid shade of blue, which I’ve never seen before from a scrub! Glistening, thanks to the salt and oil it contains. It looks textured so not smooth but almost jelly like. It’s not too runny in texture. It has a decent hold to it but fluid enough to move around the skin on the body.

    Fragrance

A very unusual floral fragrance. It’s not your typical floral such as rose, but definitely a light floral. This scent has a plant like earthiness to it which makes it slightly fresh in smell along with citrus. Incredibly unusual and a tough one to describe. I think most people would like how this smells because it doesn’t smell like it belongs to a particular scent family e.g fruit, sweet inspired, true floral etc. I’ve never smelt anything like this before because it’s so unique.

    On the body

I applied this to damp skin while I was in the shower. What I loved about the exfoliation of Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub was the salt pieces in this were the right size. Not too small that they barely tickled my skin and not too big where they ripped it apart. In the words of Goldilocks ‘it was just right!’. On the skin it had a light and subtle foaming action and the fragrance was just to die for! It wasn’t too strong but it’s so refreshing it really added to the experience.

My skin felt so soft and smooth during and after using this scrub and once out my skin was lightly fragranced with it’s scent. The only thing that was negative, and this is due to my skin, was certain areas of my skin didn’t like this. A small area of my stomach has been irritated, itchy and sore for a few weeks now and adding this on top of it made me regret it! But that’s my fault as I should have known better to avoid that area.

Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub by LUSH was a joy to use. I like using products that are very different to what I’ve used before and this is one of them. From the colour of this (which was fun and striking), to the texture, the fragrance and exfoliation…this was a winner for me! LOVED IT! And highly recommended (if budget allows it it’s not cheap!). The only warning I would give is avoid or use with caution if your skin is sensitive or irritated. Other than that, ENJOY!
