  • Glow’s Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Bubble Bar

Bubble bars should be a bath lover’s best friend. If you love a bath bomb, chances are you will love bubble bars too. They’re one of my favourite bath products to use when I want to be indulgent. I haven’t tried bubble bars from Glow, a small business who make and sell products such as wax melts, air fresheners, body butters and face serums. So I was excited to see that a bubble bar was included in their December’s Subscription Box which I purchased last year. So what was it like and did it live up to my expectations?

Glow’s Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Bubble Bar
    How does it look?

Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Bubble Bar is shaped like a thick slice of swiss roll. It’s a deep pink/red colour with swirls of a paler pink shade inside the middle, giving it that swiss roll look. It’s quite solid. I expected it to be a little softer but it’s very firm and in no way fragile.

    Fragrance

This bubble bar smells like a mix of mint and spices. Spice wise, it could be something warming such as a mix of ginger, mixed spice or/and cinnamon. I didn’t get much in the form of cocoa, but overall the fragrance was really good. Not massively sweet or too bakery based. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised because just off the fragrance name I thought this scent would be too busy and it wasn’t.

    In the bath

I broke Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Bubble Bar in two and crumbled half of it under warm running water. I did find the bar itself was quite tough to break up because it was so hard. But once done, in the bath it created a little froth on top of the bath water and the water itself was cloudy, slightly pink in colour which then went clear. The fragrance was subtle and gorgeous. Very unusual in smell and very relaxing. Perfect strength because if it was heavier it could have been too much.

    * I used the second half of the bubble bar differently. Instead of first crumbling it I put it under warm running water whole. Waited a bit, it then got softer and then I crumbled it. Much easier with and I think it created more bubbles this time rather than froth.

This was very gentle on my skin. As someone who had easily irritated skin in 2024, I did worry about using this but no issues. Absolutely fine on the skin, no irritation and didn’t dry my skin out. Strangely enough after coming out of the bath my skin felt very clean (not stripped) which I didn’t expect from this product alone. What I would have liked though is to feel more moisture from this bubble bar on my skin.

    Recommended?

I liked using this bubble bar. My favourite part of it has got to be the fragrance because it’s different and comforting. I have a feeling if I used the whole bubble bar I would have enjoyed this even more, got more fragrance, more bubbles rather than froth and possibly more moisture for my skin. Good job I have another bubble bar to try out! Would I recommend this? Yes, even just for the fragrance alone and it’s because it’s not a bath bomb. Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Bubble Bar is a lovely bath product, great seasonal fragrance and costs only £4.50. There are other fragrances available here which should suit everyone’s personal fragrance needs, so try it out!

  • My Favourite Bath Products Of 2023

When you’re as addicted to baths as I am, you will use ALOT of bath products in a year! What I love is there is so much variety in regards to the fragrance, consistency, shapes and even colours bath goodies can come in. So what were my favourite products I used in the bath in 2023?

My favourite bath products of 2023
Sleepy Bubble Bath Bar From LUSH

Bubble bars are a great alternative to bath bombs. Most can be broken up and used for more than one bath. Compared to bath bombs, bubble bars are more moisturising and many create foam. Sleepy Bubble Bath Bar From LUSH ticks all these boxes AND has a glorious, relaxing fragrance as well.

Bubble Up’s Blissed Out Berry Bath Melt Bar

Bubble Up’s Blissed Out Berry Bath Melt Bar could have been a little more fragrant. But what it lacked in scent it didn’t lack in size. Great size, multiple baths could be used from one bar, created bubbles and left my skin feeling silk smooth and soft.

Snow Fairy Bath Bomb From LUSH

As much as people have raved about the Snow Fairy range from LUSH, I was a little sceptical about their Snow Fairy Bath Bomb. It smelt and looked great, but how it would perform I wasn’t too sure about. But perform it did and it created a relaxing and enjoyable bath. It was surprisingly moisturising for a bath bomb, it didn’t irritate my skin and I loved using it.

Treacle Moon’s Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts

I’ve used Treacle Moon’s bath salts before and I was so happy to find them being stocked in Boots because I loved them. Treacle Moon’s Sweet Berry Kisses Bath Salts costs only £1.00, and when poured into the bath provides soft fluffy foam and fragrance.

Glow’s Pink Sugar Foaming Bath Salts

Bath salts can create a very therapeutic bath for not only the mind, but for the joints and skin too. But they can be very plain and give a basic bath. Glow’s Pink Sugar Foaming Bath Salts was a great product to help me unwind from top to toe. It also had a soft fragrance to it while creating lots and lots of foam.

All of these products were great to use, provided soothing and chilled out baths while keeping my skin in good condition. What more could I ask for?

  • Was The LUSH Sale Worth It?

When most people think of bath bombs they automatically think of the shop LUSH. And rightly so. They’ve built up a successful business based on bath time treats which are colourful, fragrant and for many people totally addictive. Are they the cheapest? No. But they are the most well known. So could I resist their Boxing Day sale a few weeks ago which consisted of half price bath, body and shower products? Nope!

My Boxing Day purchases from LUSH
    What did I buy?

I ordered online as I wasn’t queuing outside the store as if I was in Disneyland Paris (been there done that!). Stock levels changed every time I went to their site but persistence is the key and I kept checking and finally go my order in. I bought 15 items in total, but one was a gift set which included 6 full sized products. So all in all I purchased 20 items which included 1 soap, 7 bubble bars and 12 bath bombs which included:

    Snow Bear Soap

An adorable bear shaped soap that smells of marzipan. I bought this for a friend who will be celebrating a birthday soon, but not sure she will get it now as I like this!

    Snow Bear Soap
    Labyrinth Bubble Bar

Interesting and unusual shape and design, bold in colour with lots and lots of shimmer! Smells very fruity.

    Labyrinth Bubble Bar
    Sleepy Bubble Bar

I bought 3 of these because I love bubble bars! Cloud shaped, multi coloured and another sweetly fragranced piece. But this is more sweet herbal in the form of lavender.

    Sleepy Bubble Bar
    Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb

I bought 4 of these because I’ve had this one before (read my review here), loved it and needed more! Even better half price. This has the same scent as the Sleepy Bubble Bar which is a sweet Lavender type fragrance.

    Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb
    Crystal Snow Bath Bomb

This is more of a traditional shaped bath bomb with the addition of a crystal like topping. Minty in scent but in the packet of chewie mints type of smell not fresh mint out of the garden fragrance.

    Crystal Snow Bath Bomb
    Gift Horse Bath Bomb

For some reason this reminds me of an orange version of Donkey from Shrek! Fun appearance, good size and smells a little floral with a zestiness to it.

    Gift Horse Bath Bomb
    Snow Dragon Bath Bomb

I grabbed 2 of these. And why wouldn’t I if they worked out at £1.75 each?? This has a citrus scent to it, probably lemon. Very fresh but like the other items in my LUSH order has a sweetness to it.

    Snow Dragon Bath Bomb
    Snowman Finger Puppet Bath Bomb

This is a simple in look bath bomb but totally adorable. I like the idea of it being a finger puppet but when I get the chance to, this is just getting thrown in the bath! This is another minty bath bomb in scent but different to Crystal Snow Bath Bomb.

    Snowman Finger Puppet Bath Bomb
    Christmas Candy Box Gift

I’ve not opened this yet. I’m still trying to work out how I’m going to store all the above without housing them in the massive box it came in, so left this in it’s packaging. This contains a Candy Cane Bubble Bar, Snow Fairy Wand Bubble Blower, Snow Fairy Bath Bomb, Creamy Candy Bubble Bar, Butterbear Bath Bomb and a Sweet Pudding Bath Bomb.

    Christmas Candy Gift Box
    What did I spend?

A total of £45.50. Yes yes…that’s a decent chunk of money for things that fizz in the bath. But divide that amount by 20 and each piece cost £2.27..BARGAIN!

    Recommended?

LUSH only has one sale a year. The chances of me buying anything in the store in general is very slim unless it was a special occasion e.g my birthday. But waiting for this event, putting to one side a little bit of money to have a splurge is definitely something I would recommend. If you are a LUSH fan and/or a lover of bath bombs I would wait for their ultimate sale and save yourself lots of money.

  • Emily Makes Boutique’s Honolulu Mini Bubble Truffle

Emily Makes Boutique’s Honolulu Mini Bubble Truffle

Instagram is a great place to discover new products and businesses. I recently found Emily Makes Boutique who is a maker and seller of bath, body and wax products. Me being me I took advantage of them having a sale featuring one of my favourite bath products, Bubble Truffles! Perfect opportunity to try out something from a new, small business. A Bubble Truffle called Honolulu has recently been used in my bath. This product was £2.75 but I got it (and others) for half price.

    What is a Bubble Truffle?

Think of a something you pop in the bath which provides foam, fragrance, moisture and sometimes colour, and looks like a scoop of ice cream. That’s a bubble truffle!

    How does this look?

Small but perfectly formed measuring just over 1.5 inches in diameter. A beautiful pastel blue coloured rounded scoop with dark blue specks of colour running through it. Dusted delicately with gold mica pigment, a few small pearlized balls peeping through the top, and a tiny seashell shaped flat decoration piece finishes it off. The truffle although domed has a flat bottom.

    Fragrance

This smells tropical, fruity…think sweet, coconut, pineapple type fragrances but this isn’t sickly and delicately done but obvious. A touch of floral seems to be hidden in there somewhere. This is a gorgeous refreshing and soothing scent which is perfect for this time of the year.

    How to use

    Crumble under warm running water….simple!

    In the bath

Rather than dropping this whole under warm running water I crumbled it. This crumbled so easily. Not dry, as I could already feel this was packed with some moisturising ingredients. As it floated in the bath and got caught up in the water, it turned it from clear to the same beautiful soft blue colour the truffle is, almost tropical sea like. As the water continued to pour from the tap, soft, white foam formed. And by the time the water was turned off, the tub was heaving with bubbles.

    On the skin

In the bath I felt cocooned. Think of a body oil being on the skin outside of the bath, this is what it felt like IN the bath! I touched my skin and it felt as if a protective layer was on it. Not greasy but hydrating, smooth and silky. So out of the bath my skin felt great. No dryness, smallest hint of fragrance and ready ( but not needed ) for body lotion.

    Recommended?

I know what I like when it comes to bath products and this ticked all boxes. Appearance wise so sweet and pretty. Performance wise this blew me away and gave me a relaxing and enjoyable bathing experience. Do not let the size of this fool you! The amount of foam this produced was impressive! So a repeat purchase of Emily Makes Boutique for bubble truffles is a definite for me and I really want to try other bath products to, so a massive thumbs up!
