  • Relaxing With Glow’s Oat, Milk & Honey Lavender Bath Soak

There’s something simple but special about spending time in the bath. It can be the ultimate relaxation, allowing the mind and the body to unwind. That’s why I make it my personal business to have one every evening because I need it! My last bath time treat that I used to lie in for easily half an hour if not more, was Glow’s Oat, Milk & Honey Lavender Bath Soak. I received this in their July’s Subscription Box.

Glow’s Oat, Milk & Honey Lavender Bath Soak
    Why did I use this?

I fancied a change! It’s a new product to me and I wanted to try out a bath product which was a bit different and this was. My July Subscription Box was full of bath and body product goodies and this was calling for my attention so I used it.

    What is this?

Almost treatment like, Glow’s bath soak contains aromatherapy oils and botanicals to provide a spa like experience. The addition of magnesium gives this bath soak added benefits for the relaxation of muscles and helps with aches and pains.

    Packaging

The bath soak comes in a small plastic bottle. It’s clear, so you can see the bath soak itself. It’s very simple in look and although I like the idea of it being in a bottle I think it would be better housed in a pot or tub. It would make pouring it into the bath a little easier.

    How does it look?

The texture of this isn’t quite a powder but not salts either. The soak was a little on the clumpy solid side in some parts but in others finer giving it a natural, hand made look. It was nice to see the botanical pieces in the form of small buds…I think they are. It does look very appealing but not quite what I expected from a bath soak.

    Fragrance

I got mostly lavender in scent. It wasn’t the strong and overpowering type of lavender fragrance. This was strong enough to make an impact but not enough to blow your face off. I was hoping to get a slight hint of honey and milk purely because of the name of this, but I didn’t get that. Just lavender.

    In the bath

The amount of bath soak in the bottle is enough for 2 baths. The first time I used this compared to the second, this behaved in the same way, but my thoughts were a little different after each use. I placed this under warm running water. It was a little difficult to do because it wasn’t fine enough to come out of the bottle. But with a shake and coaxing it finally did. There was no foam, but it did turn the water slightly cloudy and the buds were dispersed all over the top of the water.

The first time I used this I liked the lavender fragrance but disappointed that was all I could smell. It was a pleasant bath to be in. But when I thought of a bath soak I hoped it would be something more creamy or milky. I didn’t spend too much time in this so wasn’t fully relaxed.

Second time I used this I thought of it more as I would if I was using bath salts. Treating it like this I spent a minimum of 30 minutes in it, soaking and trying to relax my very sore and tired legs that evening. The lavender scent I used to calm my senses down and on this occasion I ‘got into’ the bath much more. Both times my skin didn’t dry out, wasn’t irritated but not massively moisturised which was what I expected. I would have preferred no buds in this soak as they got EVERYWHERE, but they were effective.

    Recommended?

Don’t think of a traditional bath soak. Think of this more the way you treat bath salts and you will understand how this behaves and should be used. If you like your bath salts and want something to literally soak in with a sense of getting an aromatherapy blend, this is for you! You can’t hop into this for 10 minutes and then get out. A minimum of 30 minutes is needed. So I would recommend this if this is the type of bathing experience you want. Bubbles, colour, that type of bath.. there are other products in the Glow range to cover those particular needs. This is a lovely product when used at the right time.

If Glow’s bath soaks are intriguing you, they come in three fragrances including lavender, citrus and rosemary & mint. They are available here for £3.50 each of 3 for £10.00. Happy shopping!

  • Bath Time Pampering With Sleepy Bubble Bath Bar From LUSH

LUSH is well known for their bath, shower and body products. For some people these products are regular purchases, for others it’s an irregular one off treat. When they had their Boxing Day Sale last year, it was the perfect time for me to grab some half price goodies. I don’t buy from LUSH regularly. So this gave me the chance to buy things I wouldn’t normally at a great price. Not only did I grab bath bombs, I also purchased some bubble bath bars too, including Sleepy Bubble Bath Bar. I bought 3 (don’t judge!), with each one costing £2.00.

    LUSH Sleepy Bubble Bath Bar
    Why did I buy this?

I bought Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb previously and loved it! I enjoyed it so much I wanted the bubble bath bar equivalent. Bubble bath bar’s are one of my favourite bath products so I needed to add this to my collection.

    What’s a Bubble Bath Bar?

A Bubble Bath Bar gives you a similar bath as you would expect using a bubble/foam bath gel or cream. The only difference is this comes in a solid form rather than liquid. Break it up under warm running water and let the bubbles form and enjoy!

    How does this look?

Sleepy Bubble Bath Bar comes in a simple and basic cloud shape. It’s solid, flat (although slightly raised in parts giving it a handmade appearance) and quite chunky in it’s depth. This is coloured with various shades of pink, green, purple and orange. Very appealing and very sweet in look.

    Fragrance

Sweet, herbal lavender with a hint of vanilla. Absolutely gorgeous!

    In the bath

I snapped this in half and crumbled it under warm running water. It was easy to do and Sleepy Bubble Bath Bar now turned from a solid into a powder. The fragrance was released straight away and bubbles immediately were created. Not only was there lots of bubbles formed but the water in the bath turned into a light shade of pink/purple.

Being in this bath was relaxing. The bubbles were plentiful and lasted right till the end. I also felt the water was softening on my skin. I’m not too sure whether using the full bar would have made a difference fragrance wise, but I would loved it to have been stronger.

    Recommended?

I enjoyed using this product. It created lots of bubbles, coloured the water and was nicely scented. If the fragrance was turned up a notch this would have been the perfect bubble bar. But I still recommend this because it’s a good product and enjoyable to use. It’s also a regular bubble bath bar for sale, not just seasonal (although no longer discounted). Only available in it’s larger size at the moment of 200g for £7.00 here if you want to experience a member of the Sleepy family.

  • *New* Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter

Lets talk body butters. You either love their rich consistency or you hate the feel of it on your skin. Personally, I LOVE them! They are the ultimate body moisturiser for those with dry skin and people who want to cocoon their body with a super pumped textured product. I’ve used many in the past, but one of the newest body butters added to my body care collection is Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter *GIFTED*

Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter
Why have I been using this?

I’m a texture girl. I love thick, luxurious, moisturising textured body products. I find body butters are perfect for my Afro Caribbean skin, which naturally can dry out very easily. And this seemed a perfect product to keep my skin looking and feeling in tip top condition.

    Fragrance

Amber & Lavender Body Butter is a very clean and fresh fragranced body product. Straight away, it has an almost ‘mineral’ like scent to it. It’s lightly sweetened, has an obvious (but not strong) herbal lavender scent to this with a touch of musk. I find this scent to be very comforting and relaxing. It’s heavenly and a pleasure to smell!

    Texture

This is a slightly different textured body butter compared to others I’ve used in the past. In the pot it looks thick and solid, zero movement or wobble. Scoop it out and it does have a slightly solid feel to it, almost chalk like rather than waxy. But within seconds on the skin it partially melts. And when rubbed into the skin it feels quite whipped in it’s texture and super soft.

    In Use

I used a finger tip of this body butter to cover my arms. I noticed when using this I didn’t need to use too much. The small amount I took covered a good amount of my body. It didn’t need to be worked in because it melted into my skin. So rubbing it even further into my skin was fast and easy. I didn’t get the greasy feel some body butters give although there was some slip to this. My body didn’t feel oily, greasy, sticky or have a heavy body product on it. Amber & Lavender Body Butter felt light weight and moisturising.

My skin looked very well moisturised but as mentioned without the greasy look. The skin on my body felt soft and smooth. But I do need to mention the fragrance. The aroma caught me before even applying this to my body. It’s intoxicating, rich, relaxing but not headache giving. In fact, the fragrance I could smell all night after application and even in the morning which I loved! This, because of the scent, is perfect for night time use to help unwind and relax.

    Recommended?

When it comes to bath and body care products, there are two elements which I think are important. They have to do their job and they have to be enjoyable to use. This body butter was both! On a practical level it moisturised without making me feel like I had been deep fried. It made my skin look nourished and feel soft. The fragrance is literally to die for and made this body butter an even more special body product to use. Recommended? There’s no question this is a must to buy. This costs £4.50 for 120g and comes in a variety of fragrances which would cover everyone’s fragrance needs.

Treat yourself here your skin deserves it!

  • A 99p Stocking Filler, Aldi’s Lacura Sleep Bath Salts

You know when you eye up something in a shop for months, pass it by, and then one day you see it and it’s reduced? What do you do? BUY IT! It really is the simple things for me that I enjoy and a good deal on bath products is one of them. Latest item I’ve bought now it’s on sale is Aldi’s Lacura Sleep Bath Salts. Originally was £1.99, then went down to £1.49 and I just bought it for 99p for 300g.

    Aldi’s Lacura Sleep Bath Salts
    Why did I buy this?

I love bath salts. But when I first saw this in my local store I didn’t want to pay £1.99. Despite it coming in a handy little container, I knew I could get better value weight and cost wise from other brands on the market. For 99p I thought this was much better value.

    What is this?

These are bath salts which have added essential oils and extracts to help aide with relaxation, such as lavender, jasmine and vetiver.

    Packaging

300g of bath salt live happily in a plastic screw top lidded tub. Dark blue in colour but semi translucent. This isn’t sophisticated in look but it does the job! It’s appealing because it makes me think (thanks to the colour of the tub) this will be relaxing. AND it’s practical too. You can pour out what you want to use and put the lid back on keeping the salts safe and contained.

    Fragrance

The distinctive scent of lavender and eucalyptus hit me straight away! There are other fragrances in there as well but hard to make out but they are aromatherapy like. The scent of Aldi’s Lacura Sleep Bath Salts is strong but not overwhelming. And if you like lavender and eucalyptus you will love this!

How do the bath salts look?

Not like my usual Westlab ones that’s for sure! They do have that small, crystal like look to them. But rather than them being clear these are white, a little like white, tiny decorative rocks.

    How to use

Under warm running water, add a handful of salts and enjoy for 15-20 minutes.

    In the bath

I was a bit cheeky and although I added these into the bath I also poured in some Simple bath soak because I wanted bubbles. I used Simple because it’s kind to my skin and there isn’t a fragrance to this so all I could smell was the bath salts and smell it I did! Before it hit the water it was there and I loved it. It wasn’t overpowering or eye watering which these types of products can be, it was the ideal strength. While enjoying the scent this filled my bathroom with, some of the salts dissolved, some didn’t and the bath itself had bubbles (from the bath soak) and no colour.

I didn’t want to get out of this bath! Normally I use salts if my skin is playing up and irritated, so they won’t have any form of fragrance (natural or not) added to it. And they do help. With this one? It was all about being able to unwind physically and mentally which this does. I wouldn’t go for this if you are sensitive to fragrance or aromatherapy oils. But this did the job and really put me at ease.

    Recommended?

Definitely! Packaging is practical and nice for gift giving. Fragrance is fab and really gives a great chilled out bathing experience so perfect just before bed. And the price was cheap! A good quality bath product which if you can grab from Aldi would make a great stocking filler for someone who loves a bath and possibly stressed, or needs a good night’s sleep.
