  • Lush’s Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb

LUSH. I don’t think there are many people that have never heard of this store. They sell a wide range of bath and body products, but probably are best known for their bath bombs. I don’t buy from them regularly despite being a massive fan of living in the bath. These days there is such a wide variety of bath products and brands out there this isn’t my go-to if I’m honest. But I had an urge to go into the store last week. I caved and decided to treat myself to a Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb which cost £3.50.

    Lush’s Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb
    Why did I buy this?

It looked cute, smelt great and is one of the more affordable bath bombs available from LUSH. If money was no object, I could go crazy in the store, but I wasn’t going to do that because this woman is trying to be on a budget!

    What does this look like?

Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb is shaped as a bear which is laying down on its stomach. It’s simple in shape and off white in colour. But on the top of its back, there are lavender pieces imbedded into it. This makes a very plain looking bath bomb look just that little bit more special.

    Fragrance

I don’t mind lavender, but I hate it in its pure, traditional scent. It can be strong and old fashioned. Mixed with the right elements though it can be nice. And nice this is. This bath bomb smells of lavender but it’s more sweet and less herbal/aromatherapy like. It still has a relaxation feel to it but it’s softer and more pretty in scent. I adore it!

    In the bath

This was placed on an already warm, run bath. As soon as it hit the water it fizzed and hissed. Rather than the water turning into a different colour, it became cloudy almost milk bath like. The lavender pieces floated around in the bath as the bath bomb got smaller and smaller and eventually disappeared. There was no bath art, no explosion of colour. When Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb disappeared, it left behind what looked like a bath soak. No bubbles, no colour, no foam. And I still couldn’t wait to dive into this!

The fragrance from this was incredible! It was so soothing, relaxing and strong enough for me to be able to smell this from start to finish and I loved it! It was the perfect strength and the ideal scent to experience if you’re looking to unwind.

I enjoyed this bath so much. I was sad to get out of it. It may not have been filled with colour and foam, but it was gentle enough on my skin, provided beautiful fragrance and totally relaxed me from head to toe. I also thought the lavender pieces were just the right amount. They gave decoration to the bath bomb and also the scent of lavender. There was no massive clean-up in the bathtub, and I didn’t feel overwhelmed with bits in the bath.

    Recommended?

YES! If I’m honest I didn’t think I would enjoy this as much as I did but I did. It’s not a traditional bath bomb as I’ve already mentioned. But it doesn’t make it any less special. It’s easy on the eye, has a fabulous scent and gave me one of the best chilled out baths I’ve had in a long time. Total winner and I WIL be getting a few more of these! Grab yours in store or online here for a relaxing treat for yourself or for someone else.

  • Moisturising Superdrug’s Vitamin E All Over Body Cream with Lavender

There’s lots of things I could do improve my body care routine. But there is one thing I do without fail, MOISTURISE! After having a shower or a bath I will always use a body lotion, cream or body butter to finish off my body care routine. I’ve started to use a new one that I dug out of my little stash (totally forgot I had it!) from Superdrug. It’s their very own branded Vitamin E All Over Body Cream with Lavender. Normally priced at £4.99 for 300ml but I’m sure I bought it for less.

Superdrug’s Vitamin E All Over Body Cream with Lavender
    Why did I use this?

The idea of using this really appealed to me when I rediscovered this purchase. I’ve kept my body care products and routine very simple and dare I say boring, because my skin has been irritated with the warm weather. And I just wanted to use something different and hopefully nice and moisturising! So why not?

    What is this?

This is a body cream which is designed to moisturise the skin thanks to containing Shea butter and Vitamin E. With Vitamin E being an antioxidant, this could possibly help protect the skin from environmental damage. With the addition of lavender essential oil, it aims to provide a more restful sleep. This is why on the packaging it says this is a night body cream rather than just ‘body cream’. Suitable for normal to dry skin.

    Packaging

This body cream comes in a plastic tub. It’s not the most exciting or modern looking packaging ever to grace a shelf but it’s not unpleasant. It has a ‘natural’, wholesome vibe to it, with splashes of purple reminding the user there is lavender in this. As a gift it would still be welcomed, but it does look a little on the traditional side appearance wise.

    Fragrance

Lavender is a very odd fragrance. It can be strong; it can be old fashioned in scent, and it can be very heady and overwhelming. This isn’t. You get the herbal aspect of lavender but there’s a sweetness to this. It maybe the fact there is Shea butter included in this body cream. But this fragrance hosts the best of lavender and doesn’t include the worst aspects of it. It’s not overpowering, it’s beautifully balanced but like it’s packaging I wouldn’t say this is modern in scent.

    Texture

It looks thick in the tub as there isn’t a wobbly to the product. But when scooped out it’s not a butter, not fluid like a lotion but very much is a cream. A silky cream with a slight slip to it, so it feels luxurious but not heavy.

    On the skin

I’ve found I don’t need to use too much of this. It spreads beautifully on the skin and rubs in like a dream. It’s moisturising without being greasy and sticky, and it leaves my skin feeling soft and supple. Using this once or twice a day is more than enough. But dry skin isn’t an issue I suffer with regularly on my body anyway as my skin is in decent condition.

I don’t think this body cream is irritating my skin or making it uncomfortable. But what I would say is essential oils and fragrance isn’t always best friends to sensitive skin so be warned!

The fragrance left on the skin is quite subtle. I never feel like I’ve been rolling around in a herb garden after applying this. But it does give me a sense of relaxation while using and applying this which makes it ideal for nigh time use.

    Recommended?

This is the perfect body product for those who want moisturising without a thick and greasy film left on the skin. Apply it after bathing, clothes can be put on straight away which makes this an easy and quick product to use. And I will be honest, I love how this smells! There’s something very comforting and soothing about this body cream so 110% recommended! Affordable, size wise is a good amount and great on the skin. I forgot to mention, this range is regularly on offer, so this is a brilliant body product to buy on a budget! Currently on a buy one get one half price deal here, perfect for (whispers) CHRISTMAS.

  • Bargain Bath Bombs. Aldi’s Lacura Oh So Sleepy Box Under £1.00!

It’s not that long ago that I tried a bath bomb from Aldi’s Lacura Range in the fragrance of Sugared Berries. And here I am trying out another one! This isn’t just one bath bomb but a boxed set of two, called Oh So Sleepy Box. How much was this set of 2 fragranced bath bombs? 99p!

Aldi’s Lacura Oh So Sleepy 2x Fragranced Bath Bombs
    Why did I buy this?

I actually saw this set when it was first in my local store around Mother’s Day, and it cost £3.99. Intrigued, but I wasn’t tempted enough to buy it. Fast forward a few months later they were reduced to £1.99 and I saw a potential gift idea so I picked up two. Food shop with one kid during half term last week and I spotted these down to 99p! Absolute bargain…so I picked up three boxes!

What do you get & How is it packaged?

2 lavender and bergamot bath bombs weighing 180g each. Housed in a rectangular box which shouts relaxation and night time use because of it’s blue colouring and shapes of stars, eyes and moons all over it. There’s a large clear window on the front which shows the bath bombs inside. Nicely presented.

    The Bath Bombs

Both round, similar in size and look to other regular bath bombs on the market. These are identical except one is a light shade of blue and the other a soft shade of lilac.

    Fragrance

These have a an aromatherapy style fragrance to them. Definite whiffs of lavender and something else which is quite earthy (this probably is the bergamot). This scent wont be to everyone’s taste, but I quite like it! It’s very soothing and calming.

    In the bath

What I liked about these bath bombs was how they behaved in the bath. As soon as they hit the water they fizzed and spun around like crazy. What caught my eye was how the colour of the bath bombs ‘bled’ into the water like ink had been dropped into the tub. The lilac bath bomb slowly changed the water to a lilac shade. And the baby blue bath bomb, surprisingly, made the water turn into a dark shade of blue.

After the fizz (and there was quite a bit as these bath bombs danced around for ages until they disappeared!) there was no bubbles just coloured water. What was noticeable was the fragrance. Light to medium in strength and was enjoyable to experience.

I found both these bath bombs created very relaxing baths. Pleasurably, chilled and very peaceful. Kind to my skin and didn’t dry it out.

    Recommended?

Anyone who reads my posts on bath bombs will know I’m quite particular. But these are actually not bad at all! For the price, this is great value and perfect for those who want a cheap pampering without using an awful, rubbish, bath bomb. These are packaged well, plain in look but you would still want to use them! AND the fragrance is a good strength and stands out. So if you spot these in your local Aldi store, I would definitely recommend grabbing a box, even pick up a few!

  • Sunday Rain Sleep Easy Bath Bomb

New Year, New Me, New Sleep Position. Do I feel rested and ready to take on all that 2022 brings? Nope! Compare me to a football that has been run over by a monster truck, and that will give you an idea of how I feel right now. So anything that can help me relax I’m up for it. One thing that tends to do the trick for me is an evening bath. So what bath time treat was on my radar to help put me in a peaceful mood? Sunday Rain Sleep Easy Bath Bomb from Superdrug. Usual cost is £5.00, but I bought this when it was half price.

Sunday Rain Sleep Easy Bath Bomb
    Why did I buy this?

Sunday Rain wasn’t a brand I had heard about before. I browsed the Superdrug website and found their bath and body care range very appealing. This bath bomb stuck out because it wasn’t a typical bath bomb (I’ll explain later!). I liked the idea of it being designed to help relax with the addition of lavender plus it was half price!

What makes this bath bomb different?

It’s not just a solid bath bomb, it contains sea salts AND lavender buds. Both are elements that could hep with the art of unwinding. Oh, and it comes in two halves! So you don’t have to use the whole thing so potentially two baths worth of product in one!

    Packaging

It’s nice to see a bath bomb presented in a box rather than just plastic wrapped. The box this comes in looks quite simple in style, coloured in a soft lilac shade and overall reflects what this bath bomb is hoping to create bath time wise. It’s quite neutral in look, not too dated although a little traditional in style so should appeal to most people.

The bath bomb itself was shrink wrapped in clear plastic, so you could see what you get once it was taken out of it’s box.

    How does it look?

Not that much different to a usual bath bomb. Circular in shape, chalky but smooth texture and a pale lilac colouring. Size wise this seems a little bigger than other bath bombs I’ve used before.

It does come in two halves although was plastic wrapped keeping them together. Once you pull them a part you can see both sides have a small hollow section in them. Sat in the middle is a very rustic looking mix of sea salts and lavender buds nestled in it. Very pretty!

    Fragrance

Not what I expected! I thought this would be quite strong and lavender based in the stereotypical way. I’m glad it’s not. Lavender can be old and pungent and not a very modern or pleasant smell in my opinion. This wasn’t the case for this. It’s more floral, slightly sweetened, with powdery notes. There is a hint of lavender and a herbal touch to this, it’s not in your face.

    In the bath

I threw in the first half of this and it fizzed straight away, while releasing a soft lilac colour to the water. The lavender buds and salts spread out, and what was left was them sticking to the side of the bath while the salts vanished. The bath bomb itself probably took less than a minute to totally disappear. Rather than save the second half of the bath bomb I threw the second one straight in. It seemed silly to save it for another time, and decided to just enjoy and use it. No bubbles and no foam.

The fragrance, thank God, was there. Strength wise it was perfect! I could smell it as I put the bath bomb in the water and long after I was sat in the bath. It really was a lovely scent and helped make my bath experience a good one.

My skin wasn’t dried out after using this. I enjoyed my time in the bath. Only thing I wasn’t too keen on was cleaning the bath afterwards because of the lavender but I dealt with that begrudgingly.

    Recommended?

I liked this! Mind and body was felt at ease while using this so I enjoyed it. It wasn’t the most exciting bath bomb I’ve ever used but it did what I wanted it do do, it helped me to have a rested evening ready for bed! So if you love your bath bombs, you use bath salts and enjoy the idea of essential oils, this is for you. And don’t be put off with the lavender element as mentioned it doesn’t smell heavily of lavender but has the benefit of it containing lavender oil and the buds so double whammy.

Who this isn’t for are those people who want a magical bath art show. This doesn’t create one. You don’t like bits in your bath and you don’t want to clean anything up? This isn’t for you. And you want bubbles, foams and bucket loads of fizz, say no to this. But personally I would buy this again and I actually want to try out other products from this range too.

At the time of writing, this bath bomb is on a 3 for 2 deal at Superdrug. So if you fancy seeing if this could be your bath time tranquilizer, grab one here.
