  • *New* Glow’s Madame Coco Rollerball Perfume

One of the most exciting product launches for me isn’t from a brand you find on the high street, but from a small business. Glow is known to their customers as being a wax melt vendor. Their range of home fragrance products has increased over the last few years. But recently they’ve ventured into creating and selling bath, body and fragrance products. I was gifted various items from their new collection, including Madame Coco Rollerball Perfume. This retails for £4.50.

    Packaging

Madame Coco comes in a a typical shaped rollerball vial. It’s made from clear glass and has a screw top lid which covers the metal roller ball that releases the fragrance. Perfect size to keep in your pocket, bag and easily transportable.

    Fragrance

This smells to me like a classic, sophisticated fine fragrance. It’s feminine, floral based (I suspect mostly white florals) with a hint of something a little stronger floral wise, possibly rose. It’s quite clean in scent with a delicate citrus to it and slight woodiness to it as well.

    Is this a dupe?

I’m guessing it’s ‘inspired’ by Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle. I’ve never owned this fragrance or smelt it recently. So how accurate as a dupe this is I can’t say, but it’s definitely a great and affordable alternative.

    On the skin

When I apply this, what I like is this perfume is actually quite moisturising. I didn’t expect it to go onto my skin almost oil like but it does without a greasy or oily feel to it. When it’s rubbed between my wrists, it leaves no obvious residue but somehow feels as if something is on this area and doesn’t dry it out.

    Strength & Longevity

This is medium in strength. There’s only so much perfume you can apply onto the wrists or the neck. So the strength can only remain the same (if reapplied) or naturally becomes less. When I use this I can smell it clearly, but not in the same way a mist or a sprayed fragrance would hit. Longevity is good. I’ve used this and I’ve found it’s still on my skin a good number of hours later without reapplying but lesser in strength which is expected.

    Recommended?

A rollerball perfume wouldn’t be my first choice of fragrance delivery and not something I would gravitate to. I’m a spray kind of girl. What I’ve noticed with Madame Coco Rollerball Perfume is it’s a very personal way of using fragrance because you’re literally applying it for yourself, which I like. It smells amazing, great quality, easy to use and keep around and is brilliantly priced. What a lovely gift idea this would be for someone who loves fragrance! Or a great introduction to fragrance for someone just getting into it. I’m won over and would happily purchase this for myself and for others. This is totally a product that’s on my recommended list!

Other fragrances are available on the website are La Vie EST Belle, Baccarat Rouge, Perfect, Olympea and Lost Cherry. The majority of these are inspired by well known designer fragrances but at a fraction of the cost of the original fragrances. Who said luxury wasn’t affordable?

  • *New* Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter

Lets talk body butters. You either love their rich consistency or you hate the feel of it on your skin. Personally, I LOVE them! They are the ultimate body moisturiser for those with dry skin and people who want to cocoon their body with a super pumped textured product. I’ve used many in the past, but one of the newest body butters added to my body care collection is Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter *GIFTED*

Glow’s Amber & Lavender Body Butter
Why have I been using this?

I’m a texture girl. I love thick, luxurious, moisturising textured body products. I find body butters are perfect for my Afro Caribbean skin, which naturally can dry out very easily. And this seemed a perfect product to keep my skin looking and feeling in tip top condition.

    Fragrance

Amber & Lavender Body Butter is a very clean and fresh fragranced body product. Straight away, it has an almost ‘mineral’ like scent to it. It’s lightly sweetened, has an obvious (but not strong) herbal lavender scent to this with a touch of musk. I find this scent to be very comforting and relaxing. It’s heavenly and a pleasure to smell!

    Texture

This is a slightly different textured body butter compared to others I’ve used in the past. In the pot it looks thick and solid, zero movement or wobble. Scoop it out and it does have a slightly solid feel to it, almost chalk like rather than waxy. But within seconds on the skin it partially melts. And when rubbed into the skin it feels quite whipped in it’s texture and super soft.

    In Use

I used a finger tip of this body butter to cover my arms. I noticed when using this I didn’t need to use too much. The small amount I took covered a good amount of my body. It didn’t need to be worked in because it melted into my skin. So rubbing it even further into my skin was fast and easy. I didn’t get the greasy feel some body butters give although there was some slip to this. My body didn’t feel oily, greasy, sticky or have a heavy body product on it. Amber & Lavender Body Butter felt light weight and moisturising.

My skin looked very well moisturised but as mentioned without the greasy look. The skin on my body felt soft and smooth. But I do need to mention the fragrance. The aroma caught me before even applying this to my body. It’s intoxicating, rich, relaxing but not headache giving. In fact, the fragrance I could smell all night after application and even in the morning which I loved! This, because of the scent, is perfect for night time use to help unwind and relax.

    Recommended?

When it comes to bath and body care products, there are two elements which I think are important. They have to do their job and they have to be enjoyable to use. This body butter was both! On a practical level it moisturised without making me feel like I had been deep fried. It made my skin look nourished and feel soft. The fragrance is literally to die for and made this body butter an even more special body product to use. Recommended? There’s no question this is a must to buy. This costs £4.50 for 120g and comes in a variety of fragrances which would cover everyone’s fragrance needs.

Treat yourself here your skin deserves it!

  • *NEW* Glow’s Pink Sugar Foaming Bath Salts

New releases. Don’t you just love them? I get excited when there are new product launches especially from brands I already like and shop with. My credit card not so much. Over the last couple of years I’ve been enjoying the fragrant wax and home fragrance products from UK wax vendor Glow. And now I’m getting the chance to enjoy their new bath and body products they’ve just released. I was gifted a selection of products to try out, including their Pink Sugar Foaming Bath Salts. These retail for £3.99 for 260g.

Glow’s Pink Sugar Foaming Bath Salts
    How does this look?

Pink Sugar Foaming Bath Salts is pale pink in colour and made up of the smallest grains. I can see bits of this glisten but it looks more powder like than crystal. It’s quite fine but still has a texture to it look wise.

    Fragrance

Pink Sugar makes me think of lots of pink flavoured sweets. Candyfloss, even marshmallows, possible berries such as strawberries and vanilla thrown in as well. A sweet lover’s dream and dribble worthy!

    In the bath

I’ve used this in two baths so far. Each time I’ve used about a quarter of this tub and once poured under running water it created foam, and lots of it! Not only was there foam but colour too. The bath water went from clear to a beautiful light shade of pink.

The fragrance was light but there. The strength was very comforting and the fragrance overall was enjoyable and very relaxing. Could the fragrance have been a little stronger? This is me here, a fragrance can always be stronger especially if I really like it! But I don’t think it would translate well being a punchy scent. It would be too heavy and not as nice and natural as it is now. So it’s actually the perfect level strength wise.

In the bath I really enjoyed these salts. The salts dissolved fully. I could feel the tiniest grains on the bottom of the bath but it was barely noticeable. The foam didn’t disappear after a few minutes. In fact, bubbles were still there right to the very end. The water was soft on the skin and the bath salts didn’t dry it out. In fact, there were a few irritated areas of skin on my back which seemed less irritated after using this.

    Recommended?

Glow’s Pink Sugar Foaming Bath Salts is a fabulous bath time product. It provides the best of both worlds when it comes to bath salts and a foaming bath gel/cream. This looks inviting, smells amazing, foams up beautifully and each pot should give 4 baths easily which provides excellent value. You won’t find something like this on the high street so 110% recommended!

This is available at the moment in various fragrances, including Pink Sugar, Peppermint & Eucalyptus, Dazzling, Snow Fairy and Creed. Want to order yours? Visit the website here and I dare you NOT to order!

  • My First Look At Aldi’s Lacura Vitamin C Brightening Daily Cleanser

Aldi is a supermarket that not only is known for selling a wide range of food and homeware items, but they also have gained a reputation when it comes to their own branded skin and body care products. Is this important? It is for a couple of reasons. They have a wide range of products available (not always available at the same time). All are a good quality and what is equally important is they are affordable. Skincare doesn’t have to be seen as a luxury but can be a budget friendly necessity.

I’ve noticed in my local store they have started to stock a Vitamin C range which caught my eye. The one product I grabbed was Lacura’s Vitamin C Brightening Daily Cleanser with PHA & Orange Fruit Water. 125ml for £4.99.

So, what are my initial thoughts on this product?

Aldi’s Lacura Vitamin C Brightening Daily Cleanser
    Price

£4.99 for 125ml is good value. Using this morning and night should give weeks of use. Another important fact to think about is if you wanted and needed to repurchase this, it’s less than £5.00. This makes a repeat purchase more achievable than a one off buy.

    Packaging

If it wasn’t for the packaging I wouldn’t have spotted this, you can’t miss it! Orange in colour, white writing finishing off its look. Very basic and simple. It seems to be a trend a lot of stores follow if they have their own Vitamin C skincare range, making the packaging orange, and I wonder why? And it does work! What I love about this cleanser is it comes in a practical tube but it’s also boxed. It’s that extra touch which I like and if I was giving this as a gift it would make it more appealing.

    Texture

Aldi’s Lacura Vitamin C Brightening Daily Cleanser is very much a cream cleanser. Quite thick in consistency but not too much. The colour of this is orange but not glow in the dark orange, a much paler, creamier hue. A cream cleanser for many will be ideal during a colder season. The texture can be more comforting on the face, and less stripping of the skin compared to a facial wash, as an example.

    Fragrance

There’s definitely an orange scent in this cleanser but it’s not sharp and citrusy. Creamier, slightly sweet and not particularly zesty in fragrance.

    My First Impressions

Great size, perfect packaging and priced just right! It’s not something you would buy every week, so that £5.00 isn’t something you would be hit with often. I’m already liking the texture and scent of this and I can see this being a nice product to use all year round.

And The Rest Of The Range?

Customers have picked the shelf clean when I’ve gone to see what other products were available in this range. But what I got to see was there is an eye cream (very interested in this!) and a facial gel moisturiser.

Keep An Eye On This Range

If you shop in Aldi and looking to change up your skincare products, have a browse at this Lacura skincare collection and this product. I don’t think any of the products are over £5.00 so could be worthwhile buying and trying.
