  • Bath & Shower Bubble Up’s The Never Skip Dessert Collection

Sometimes a girl (or a guy) needs a bit of pampering. We can’t all go to a spa, get a facial or go on holiday. But we all can enjoy a bit of relaxing or alone time in the bath or/and shower. This is how I unwind and try to treat the skin I’m in with some nice bath and shower products. One set I’ve been dying to try since Christmas has been Bubble Up’s The Never Skip Dessert Collection. I bought this from Home Bargains for £2.99 late last year.

Bubble Up The Never Skip Dessert Collection
    Why did I buy this?

I’ve used Bubble Up’s bubble bars before and loved them. So when I saw this I wanted to treat myself to some budget friendly products I hoped I would enjoy. The value was exceptional, the set looked appealing and the products were totally new to me. Why would I NOT buy this?

    What’s in this set?

You’re An Angel Cake The Shower Scrub and a Donut Bath Fizzer.

    Packaging

This two piece gift set comes in a rectangular shaped cardboard box with a partially clear front so you can see what’s inside. Almost cartoon like bubbles all over the box, with it being mostly pink and white in colour with black detailing. How it’s presented is fun, playful, youthful and eye catching.

    The Shower Scrub

220g of You’re An Angel Cake The Shower Scrub comes in a tub and colour wise matches the box. Looking at this scrub, it looks like a very thick body lotion without the sheen a body butter has. Small scrub particles are visible and overall it does look really inviting. The fragrance of this is very bakery based and could resemble the smell of cake, but more of an interpretation rather than real life.

    Donut Bath Fizzer

Same size and shape as a an actual ring donut. Pink and yellow in colour, with what appears to be sprinkles on the top. This really is a fun looking bath fizzer and a great size too! The fragrance of this is slightly sweet but not specific enough for me to say it smells like XY or Z.

    How did they perform?

The shower scrub is a beautiful, creamy texture which rubbed over my body nicely in the shower. It was enjoyable to use and the scent was very comforting. The scrub pieces I could feel as they were big enough to give an exfoliation action. You’re An Angel Cake The Shower Scrub rinsed off easily, my skin felt clean and reasonably smooth. Nice to use but I’ve used scrubs that really made my skin feel ‘wow’ after use and this didn’t.

Donut Fizzer when placed in the bath immediately released colour with the bath water going from clear to a shade of pink. It sort of just sat on the bottom of the bath lightly fizzing away. No dancing or movement, just there. When I picked it up it broke into pieces. There was no real bath art to this. No foam but a little fragrance during my bathing experience. Being in the bath with this was just ok.

    Recommended?

This actually is a nice bath and shower set. Both pieces look great, smell good and are both decent sizes. How much I paid for this is a bargain, and this set would be perfect for a pre-teen or a teenager. Anyone older may want something a bit more pampering, and I personally fall into that bracket. I will happily use the shower scrub until it finishes, but I wouldn’t repeat purchase this particular gift set for myself. I POSSIBLY would buy this as a gift for the right person though.

Can you get hold of this now? The only place I can see this gift set being available is from The Perfume Shop for £7.99. Not a bad price, but no where near the budget beating price I paid!

  • Want To Give A Pampering Gift? Try Bellalisia Relaxation Gift

It’s no secret I love a bit of pampering. Bath bombs in the bath, wax melts on the go in the home. Anything easy and enjoyable to relax my mind, body and soul is a winner for me. So I would like to think if any of my friends buy me gifts I’m not a hard person to buy for, right? Towards the end of last year I received a present from a friend. It was a Thinking Of You Self Care Gift from a small business called Bellalisia, bought from Amazon.

    Bellalisia Gift Set
    What is it?

A very neatly packaged small collection of items that should aide relaxation and provide some self care moments.

    What’s included?
    • 1x Sleep mask
    • A sachet of bath salts
    • Mini bath fizzers
    • Hot chocolate
    • A sachet of tea
    • 3x tea lights
    Bath fizzers
    Packaging

These bath and night time treats came in a rectangular box which could easily fit through a letter box. Although the packaging is a simple brown coloured cardboard box, it’s covered in flower patterns on the front. On the back it wishes the receiver enjoyment of this gift and contact details if needed.

The pieces inside the box were wrapped in tissue paper and on the inside of the box it says ‘NOW FOR A LITTLE relaxation’.

The box also came in it’s own packaging. A beautiful purple coloured drawstring bag which totally finished this set off.

    My Thoughts?

When I opened this set and looked at the packaging and contents, I thought how cute this was! There wouldn’t be too many people who wouldn’t like receiving this and there’s this genuine feeling of someone sending this to you because they care. These are not full sized items but enough to enjoy a bath or two, while lighting a tealight and possibly having a hot beverage. And then when ready for bed, slipping the very good quality eye mask over your face ready for sleep.

Let’s talk about cost. This set costs £12.99 from Amazon. Could I put together a collection of relaxing treats for this price and package it well? Yes I could, just ask my friends! But not everyone can or wants to do this. So I think the price of this set is fair. But I do think there should be a few more bath fizzers included because it would create a better bath, along with more bath salts for the same reason.

I LOVE this idea. If you want to send a gift to someone who needs some much needed time to themselves this is a nice thought. If you shopped around, in all honesty, you could put something together for the same price with more contents or same amount for less. But if that’s not what you want to do, this is a good alternative. If this collection doesn’t quite hit the mark as a gift, Bellalisia have other configurations of sets available on Amazon so definitely worth a look.

  • An Alternative To A Bath Bomb, Miss Patisserie’s Frosting Bath Slab

Bath bombs. There are different types and styles of bath bombs on the market, but it doesn’t mean they are all made equal. I’ve used some fabulous quality ones, and also some pretty rubbish ones too. One bath product I’ve given my time, energy and bath to last week was Miss Patisserie’s Frosting Bath Slab. Bought online from ASOS, when it was on sale for £4.00.

    Miss Patisserie’s Frosting Bath Slab
    Why did I buy this?

I’ve used a bath slab from Miss Patisserie before and loved it! So when I saw this was on sale in a fragrance I hadn’t tried before I NEEDED to give this a go.

    What’s a Bath Slab?

A bath slab is no different to a bath bomb, except it’s shaped as a slab. A segmented rectangular flat block which can be broken up and placed into the bath.

    Packaging

Frosting Bath Slab comes in a pastel shaded rectangular cardboard box. There’s a large circular hole at the front which give you a peek at what the slab looks like. I like how this is presented. It makes it stand out, great for gift giving and just makes it look very appealing.

    How does this look?

This is a chunky, rectangular shaped block. It’s segmented like a bar of chocolate and there are 20 segments visible. On one side the bath slab has an almost drip effect on it colour wise. There’s a bright, pink, shimmering shade of colour coming over a section of white which then becomes baby blue in shade. The back is totally one block colour which is blue. Simple but eye catching.

This is a very thick looking and feeling bath slab. It’s 5 inches in length, over 2.5 inches in width and just over 1 inch in depth. It’s a whopper! Not heavy though but has a typical chalky bath bomb feel to it.

    Fragrance

I’m not 100% sure what this is supposed to smell like, but this just comes across quite sweetie like to me. I don’t think it’s very specific in scent but it’s nice.

    In the bath

I threw the whole slab into the bath but it broke in two before it reached the bath. Sat on top of the bath water it fizzed away slowly, releasing a blue colour. A little foam was formed, with both parts of the slab dancing happily around each other.

It took some time for it to dissolve. When it did, the once clear water became a sea of blue which was incredibly relaxing to get into. I enjoyed being in this bath. It felt like a bath soak at this point and was very easy to unwind. It also caused no issues to my skin which seems very easily irritated at the moment. What was also nice is getting a whiff of the fragrance while using this bath slab. It wasn’t strong, it wasn’t too subtle but it was there and I liked it!

    Recommended?

This is a good quality, great looking bath product that could easily be used in more than one bath if you don’t want to be greedy! Frosting Bath Slab has a lovely fragrance to it, turned the bath water into a gorgeous colour and it provided a really nice, chilled out bath. So why would I NOT recommend this?

At full price this is normally around the £7.50 mark. It’s available direct from Miss Patisserie and other online retailers. This will keep any bath bomb addict happy so definitely one to put on a to buy list.

  • A 50p Disney Cream Face Mask from Primark

Its January. We’ve spent too much over Christmas and the doom and gloom of the cost of living situation is a constant reminder to watch the pennies. We all love a good saving and bargain but at this time probably more so, right? Although skincare and general pampering isn’t classified as essential, it’s still something many of us want to purchase product wise. Well, my eagle eyes spotted Disney’s Minnie Mouse Cream Face Mask in Primark, down from £1.50 to…..50p!

Disney’s Minnie Mouse Cream Face Mask
    Why did I buy this?

Honestly? It looked cute! THAT’S what caught my eye, the packaging. Then the reduced sticker. And my little mind thought how good these would be as little gift ideas so I bought three! I decided to give one a go myself because it sounded like it would be quite nice on the skin and non-drying.

    What is this?

This is a skincare face mask designed to provide hydration and moisture to the skin. Skin should be left feeling soft, smooth, hydrated and appearance wise look less dull and tired.

    Packaging

This mask comes in a small sachet. A large drawing of the character Minnie Mouse is on the front and the whole thing is neutral and nude in colouring. Super cute without coming across childish.

    Texture

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mask like this! When I ripped open the sachet the first thing that I noticed was the colour. It was very pale purple and very runny, which made me think of raspberry yoghurt minus bits in it. Smooth and glossy in look. I expected something thicker but this resembled a very loose and thin body lotion.

    Fragrance

On the sachet it says it’s lychee fragranced. No idea what that fruit smells like but this to me was a lightly floral/raspberry scent. It was nothing too harsh, in fact very soft.

    How to Use

Apply a thin layer to the face, leave on for 5 to 10 minutes and rinse off.

    In Use

I used this when my face was thoroughly clean and dry. I didn’t use the whole sachet, probably less than half. The packaging did say apply a thin layer and that’s what I did. I used enough so there was a visible layer on my face, which over the ten minutes of wear slowly disappeared.

The fragrance didn’t bother me. It was so soft and quite pleasant and I didn’t dislike it at all. Quite a pretty scent and if I had more time to chill while using this I think the scent would have helped my mood.

Rinsing off was easy and I actually enjoyed this part! Even thought the skincare mask looked as if it had sunk into my skin, the addition of water almost reactivated it. It became cream like again and felt like a cream cleanser.

    Skin Afterwards

Although I don’t think my skin looked less dull, what it did do is look a little fresher. Slightly smoother in appearance as if I had just given my face a good wash to wake it up! Not only did it look a little smoother it felt it too. My face didn’t look or feel dry, but it did feel very clean. What I would have liked though is the feeling of more hydration as my skin needed to feel more moisturised.

    Recommended?

Skincare can be as cheap or as expensive as you are willing to pay or what you can afford. With skincare masks they won’t provide a face lift or perform magic. But if you enjoy using them, it leaves your skin feeling and looking slightly better (even if temporary) then why not? Everyone’s skin is different but I had no issues with this and being older, I probably have more concerns and needs compared to someone younger. So if you can grab these for 50p it’s a bargain! Super pretty packaging, decent skincare face mask and suitable for different ages and skin types. Not perfect, but it will do for 50p!
