  • Primark’s P.S Creamy Cleanser

I’m finding my visits to the store Primark becoming more and more frequent as the months go on. Two areas (if I’m not shopping for items for my kids) I always head for is the home fragrance section and beauty. It took me a bit of time to realise they had their own bath, body and skincare products. But once I found them I can’t help myself but make a sneaky purchase or three! One of my most recent purchases from their skincare range is the P.S Creamy Cleanser with Vitamin E & Organic Rose. Cost? £2.00 for 150ml!

    Primark’s P.S Creamy Cleanser

    Why did I buy this?

Cleansing products is something I’ve been running low on. It’s the first stage of skincare and I refuse to get caught short because it’s an important stage. This one I picked up out of curiosity. I’ve only tried one other skincare product from Primark before which was ok so I thought let’s try more!

What is this supposed to do?

Suitable for all skin types including sensitive. This creamy cleanser is designed to remove general dirt and make up effectively and gently, while leaving the skin clean and smoother.

    Packaging.

150ml of cleanser is housed in a pale pink coloured tube with a flip top lid. Very basic, simple but easy on the eye.

    Texture.

I’m not too sure if I’ve ever used a cleansing lotion before, but I imagine it has a similar if not identical texture to this. It’s lotion like in consistency, quite fluid but not too runny. White in colour. No major slip and slide to the product, so not greasy or oily.

    Fragrance.

Rose. Floral, flowery, feminine, rose! Did I mention I’m not a fan of the fragrance of rose? Well, not on it’s own I’m not. And this is rose. Thankfully it doesn’t come across as an old fashioned, strong version. But there’s no mistaking this to be rose!

    How to use.

Wet hands, and apply to face. Rinse with water.

    In use.

Yet again my inability to read astounds me! I’m terrible at reading instructions on how to use skincare products and make it up as I go along. I thought it read wet face so I did! I wet my face and then rubbed in a good blob of this into my skin. What I liked about this is the fact it didn’t sink into the skin, so I could massage this in for a good minute or 2. The product easily moved around the skin. It didn’t feel heavy or greasy. I then wet my hands (finally!) and continued to rub the cleanser into my skin, which created a light and small amount of foam. To remove I rinsed off and no residue was left.

The fragrance was obvious while using this cleanser. Since I’m not a fan of rose, I did wonder if this would be overpowering or put me off using this and on both counts I can say it’s a no. The fragrance was there but not strong or heady so I didn’t actually mind it. And it didn’t dampen my cleansing routine or put me off in anyway.

I’m not a make up wearer, just an addict of the good old eye brow pencil. So how good this is at taking make up off I have no idea. But focusing a few second into rubbing the cleanser in my eyebrows removed all traces easily and quickly.

    Skin afterwards.

Once I rinsed this off I used a face cloth, slightly damp and warm, and patted it onto my skin. My skin looked clean and quite fresh. This was the case just after use and also the morning after the night before. My skin didn’t feel dry or tight, but that typical just washed feel and I need to pop some moisture onto my skin was what I did experience. Looking at my skin I noticed a small dry patch on my nose, which isn’t something I get normally. But I’ve ben using this for over a week now and this doesn’t seem to happen anymore.

    Recommended?

I have to say my first thoughts of this cleanser after using this for a good week now, is it’s not bad at all! Price wise of course it’s great, packaging is practical and non-offensive. And the actual cleanser does what it’s suppose to do. I actually enjoy using this which I didn’t think I would. I liked the texture, I liked how it slightly foamed up and I can see this working as part of a double cleanse routine if someone was that why inclined. The fact this is rose scented and I haven’t moaned about it is a miracle, which is a testament to this product indeed.

So would I buy this cleanser for myself again? I wouldn’t rule against it! Although not as comforting to my skin as itmay need I still think it did well. I definitely wouldn’t discount it for future purchase and use. But recommend to others? I would! I think this would be good to use especially during warmer months and if you like cleansing lotion textures anyway. If you have no massive issues with your skin and looking for a budget cleanser to keep your face going this would be fine. This screams a product geared towards the younger market. Teens to mid 20’s I think would like using this, and also appreciate the price tag!

£2.00 for 150ml cleanser won’t break the bank. So why not head to the skincare section of Primark to see if this could be a good buy for you!

  • Primark’s P.S Frosted Berries Hand Cream

When everyone starts to wear winter coats and jackets, you know there’s been a seasonal change. With the onslaught of Autumn comes wind, rain, a cooler temperature and central heating on full whack. Weather changes effect our skin too along with our fashion choices and heating bills. I’m mixing up my skincare routine a bit to compensate for this but my body care routine for now remains the same. Although I have noticed my hands have been looking a touch on the ashy side which is a no no! The call of a hand cream has reached me, so I’m listening, and I’ve decided to start use Primark’s P.S Frosted Berries Hand Cream I picked up last week. 80p for 30ml.

Primark’s P.S Frosted Berries Hand Cream

    Why did I buy this?

I have loads of hand creams at home so I didn’t NEED a new one! I heard Primark was selling a pumpkin scented one and I just wanted it. Perfect for the month of October. But my local store didn’t have any so I picked this one up instead. No massive problem as I like berry scents anyway. I thought it could be ideal for work and throw it in my bag. So for 80p I thought what was the worst that could happen so why not buy it?

    Packaging.

30ml of hand cream comes in a standard, plastic tube with a screw top lid. Lilac in colour, giving off wintery vibes (but in a cute way) thanks to the illustrations on it e.g berries, holly, stars etc. Practical packaging, very sweet to look at and the perfect hand bag or pocket size.

    Fragrance.

My kind of scent! A mix of berries with a slight hint of vanilla. Not the most sophisticated scent I have ever smelt. But I think fruit, especially anything berry inspired, is a hard one to make it more than what it actually is. It is sweet, it’s a very nice scent and not too strong.

    Consistency.

White in colour with a decent thickness to it. I would say it’s comparable to many hand creams when I think about how thick it is. Just a touch more thicker than a normal body lotion but no way near as thick as a body butter.

    On the hands.

I used a good squeeze of this, around half of a finger tip. I rubbed the back of my hands together first then the palms. Super easy and quick to rub in which I liked. What I found quite curious was the fact once rubbed in it didn’t leave my hands tacky, greasy or shiny. They felt and looked matt, and I could use my hands straight away without fear of not being able to grip something or leaving hand prints on things. I quite liked this because sometimes you have to time when you use a particular hand cream because of how moisturised it leaves your hands.

But on the flip side for my hands this needed to be thicker, more moisturising and protective. I use my hands a lot in work and of course I wash and sanitise them like crazy. It gave a little hydration and enough for my hands right now, but formulation wise this would need to be more hard working if my hands were in a drier state. I can imagine having to use this a lot and often which isn’t ideal for me. But as my hands aren’t bad right now once or twice a day for application is fine.

The fragrance was there and it smelt lovely. It wasn’t too much strength wise but was noticeable. An ideal strength because if anymore I think it could have been overkill. On the body in general I find it ok to have heavily fragranced lotion on myself. But hands are different. They can be close to the face a lot and I don’t want to be knocked out by how it smells. I’ve used this during the day and also at night before bed, and the next morning there was a faint trace of the fragrance still there.

    Recommended?

I think this is a decent hand cream. Good size, great price and presented well. I don’t think this is ideal for very dry hands but for normal it should do the job. I’ve had more moisturising hand creams before but they did contain ingredients such as shea or cocoa butter. This doesn’t. But you do have to ask yourself what do you want or expect for 80p? If you lose it, or you need a hand cream for multiple places such as your bag, car, desk, etc, this wouldn’t break the bank. And dare I say this would make an ideal stocking filler….So yes I would recommend this. But if you want something more hard working this wouldn’t be my first choice. So treat your hands according to their needs!x

  • Primark’s PS Dream Sleep Bath Foam

I’m probably one of a few people that can say this, but I was never a massive Primark visitor. It just didn’t appeal to me as a shopper, and I would normally only go in there for a few essential items. But when I discovered they had their own skincare and beauty lines on sale, they got me! I can’t wait to visit my local store minus children soon. I want to see what they have available and if there is anything new for me to try. In the meantime I’m going through a few of the pieces I already own, such as PS Dream Lavender & Jasmine Sleep Bath Foam. Was £3.00 originally but I picked it up for £1.00 a few months ago.

Primark’s PS Dream Lavender & Jasmine Sleep Bath Foam

    Why did I buy this?

Up til this point I have only tried some of Primark’s skincare products, nothing to do with bath and body. So for a £1.00 I thought it would be a good product to start with. The combination of lavender and jasmine seemed a nice fragrance combination and potentially very relaxing. And I love a good bath so why not?

    Packaging.

110ml of bath foam comes in a tall, plastic screw top lidded bottle. The opening of the bottle isn’t massive and to get the bath foam out you need to squeeze and pour. The packaging is simple in look but pleasant. Label is textured and white and lilac in colour. The bottle comes in a box which mirrors the colouring and overall design of the bottle itself. Overall, it’s a decently packaged bath product which I can’t see too many people disliking.

    Fragrance.

Having a cheeky sniff from directly from the bottle, it’s not going to be a massive surprise to say that this smells of lavender. Lavender can smell very strong AND also quite old fashioned. This isn’t heady in scent or strength. It’s there but not in your face. It does smell like it’s mixed with something else which I find is the way I enjoy lavender. And this has a hint of floral, which I assume is the jasmine element. Overall, it smells lovely enough, it does have that relaxation vibe to it and isn’t offensive. But if you hate lavender chances are this is not going to be for you.

    Consistency.

With this being labelled as a bath foam I expected a gel like texture. Thick, glossy but liquid. When I first unscrewed the lid I did think it was odd how small the opening was, but when I squeezed it out I understood why. The consistency of this reminds me somewhat of a bath oil, even the colour of it. It’s quite runny and lose, but if you touch it between the finger tips it’s not greasy but very light in feel.

    In the bath.

Under warm running water, I added 3 generous squirts of this. It foamed up slowly, the water remained clear and the foam was very soft and airy. I expected the fragrance to really come into it’s own now added with water and the heat of the bathroom, but unfortunately it didn’t. Barely there and actually very disappointing as I thought it would travel and linger in this room.

Sitting in the bath, it was an ok experience. The foam lasted a decent amount of time. I didn’t particularly feel the bath relaxed me. In fact it was on the boring side. It didn’t dry my skin out or irritate it, but it didn’t moisturise it either. In all honesty I’ve bought foaming baths from supermarkets that I’ve enjoyed much more and better value price and size wise.

    Recommended?

I assume this was part of an old stock when I bought this so hope this is why I got the results I did. But no I wouldnt recommened this. And there are a few reasons…

Essentially this is a foam/bubble bath. 110ml for £1.00 at a special price, or £3.00 as standard for me should have given me a better quality of product. So not good value.

The main issue for me is the fragrance. Where was it? Lavender is always hyped up when it comes to relaxation and sleep, so if it’s not there scent wise how can it be called a Sleep Foam? Needs to be stronger. Doesn’t have to blow someone’s head off but be there. And no point in the scent being present while sniffing the bottle, it needs to be present in the bath too.

Because of the size I expected a decent fragrance and an aromatherapy inspired/based bathing experience. What they should have done is kept the same size and made it into a bath oil with more fragrance. That would have been a winner! Or up the size to 250/300ml, throw in a stronger scent and this would have been a better purchase.

So not something I would purchase again if it was available. Shame, as this could have been a great little product in a gift basket, box, ready to give out for a special occasion. BUT I would still want to try out other products from this fragranced range to see if fragrance and quality is any different dependant on product.

  • Primark’s CBD Clay Mask

I’m sure the first thing people think about when the department store Primark is mentioned, they think of clothes. Totally understandable! They are well now for their affordable fashion items for men, women and children. But these days when I think of this store, I think of different things. Homeware, home fragrance and skincare! They don’t seem to have a massive range of skincare in my local store, but the pieces they have always spark my interest. That spark occasionally opens up my wallet to buy. A purchase I made recently was their CBD Clay Mask. Usual price £4.00, reduced to £2.00.

    Primark’s CBD Clay Mask

    Why did I buy this?

Pure curiosity! And, I am a sucker for a bargain. It also helps that I love a skincare mask too. Occasionally I use a clay mask depending on how my skin is behaving. And right now it’s not behaving at all! And what is with skincare having CBD/hemp and other stuff like that included in it’s formulation? Seems to be a fashionable thing but is it effective? Perfect time to try this out with my skin in a mini heat ravaged turmoil mess.

What is this supposed to do?

It’s designed to purify, soften, smooth and revitalise the skin. The inclusion of CBD oil, hemp seed oil and aloe vera aide with these actions.

    Packaging.

60g of mask is housed in a plastic screw top pot. I really like the shape of this as the sides aren’t totally straight and curve closer to the top. White in colour, with text in green and a metallic looking mint green colour lid. This comes boxed up with the box mirroring the container, but with it being mostly green in colour.

    Fragrance.

Ewwhh. Not a fan. It sort of smells off and not totally fresh, with a slight clay smell to it. I didn’t expect this to smell of flowers or bubblegum, but would have thought this could have smelt a little more appealing.

    Appearance.

In the pot, well..it doesn’t look great. It does have the same type of look a lot of clay masks have. Thick, slightly mud like and quite thick, But this mask is very pale in colour which doesn’t make me feel too excited to use it to be honest.

    How to use?

Apply onto clean skin. Leave for 10-15 minutes and remove by rinsing with warm water and patting dry.

    In Use.

I expected this to be slightly more thicker in texture, but found it a touch lighter than what I originally thought. Easy to use, and I applied a decent but thin layer of the mask all over the face. Took very little time for this to dry out as the colour of it lightened and my face became more frozen, but totally what I expected with a mask like this. These are never the most comfortable products to have on the skin, but it wasn’t bad. I did notice that the scent of this didn’t linger, thank goodness, so wasn’t a problem.

Removal was like a dream! I thought it would be hard work but it really wasn’t. A warmed and damp face cloth wiped over the face took this off so easily and left no residue, which was what I expected to see.

    Skin Afterwards?

Straight after removal my skin looked clean and quite fresh. I used this mask a few hours before bedtime, so it’s really the morning after the night before I will pick up on changes. And next morning my skin looked a touch smoother and felt it, reasonably rested in look. There was a sign of improvement but not a massive one. Enough for me to feel that I got some benefit using Primark’s CBD Clay Mask. But I would like to have seen a little more.

    Recommended?

This clay mask has performed no better or no worse than others I’ve used in the past. If you’re visiting Primark, and it’s there and reduced in price why not? 60ml is a decent size, easy application and removal and appeared to improve my skin. And it’s packaged nicely! So a great gift idea for someone who likes or deserves a little pampering. Not an award winner but worth a couple of pounds!
