  • Scentsy’s Cloudberry Dreams Hand Soap. Worth A Splurge?

One body care product I always buy is hand wash. It’s a product that gets used a lot in my home because hands get dirty and need to be washed regularly. Not only by myself but it’s used by my children too. I always go for the same handwash. It’s a big size, gentle on our hands and cheap (99p). But I’ve just replaced it with Scenty’s Cloudberry Dreams Hand Soap. This normally costs £11.00 for 325ml. I bought mine for under £4.00 for a 228ml size at the beginning of this year when there was a sale.

    Scentsy’s Cloudberry Dreams Hand Soap
    Why did I buy this?

It was my first every order and experience with Scensty products. When I realised they sold body products, I was curious about the quality of them, so I bought some pieces to try including this hand soap.

    Packaging

This is different to the one Scentsy currently sell in look and size. My hand soap is quite small, curves in close to the top and has a pump top dispenser. Very cute on the eye because of how it’s shaped and looks quite autumnal because of the simple fruit shapes on it and it’s colouring.

    Fragrance

When my daughter and I first used this we both made an ‘ohhh’ sound. It smells gorgeous! Fruit based as in raspberries and peach with a creaminess of vanilla. Considering how this smells I think the label on the packaging should have been a bit brighter and reflect this fragrance better. But putting this to one side it’s a winning scent for me!

    In Use

This is probably a good thing, but the amount you get of this hand soap per pump is quite small. It does the job though. Lathers up fine (but not madly) and cleans hands effectively. The one thing I did notice after use was my hands felt they needed a bit more moisturising from the hand wash. They seemed in a way too clean or stripped a little but not massively.

    Positives?

This looks different on the side of the sink. Great for small areas such as a downstairs toilet. Beautiful fragrance and would look great if gifted to someone.

    Negatives?

Too small if there’s lots of people needing to wash their hands regularly. The fragrance, as nice as it is, does linger on the hands which could be deemed as a negative or positive. It’s too expensive for repeat, regularly repurchasing.

    Recommended?

If you can get this on sale for under £4.00 to give as a gift, then possibly. I think this would be appreciated massively by the right recipient. Even just buying this to try out as I did, at the right price, I would say go for it! But even at its newer, larger size at full price it’s not worth it. I’ve also used this for a few days now and I’ve found my hands are drier the more I use this, so not a formulation for me and not one I would repurchase regardless of how much this costs. I’m going to stick to my 99p 500ml bottle of Astonish handwash. The fragrance of Cloudberry Dreams is great, but it doesn’t justify it’s price and could be kinder to my hands.

As mentioned, this is available in a slighter bigger size now (325ml) and seems to be a regular stock item, which can be purchased here. But try to get this in the sale if it’s ever included again if you want to buy it. Your credit card will thank you much more for it.

  • Scentsy’s Disney The Last Petal Wax Melt Snap Bar

I don’t need to mention how much I love my wax melts. If you take a look at this blog my obsession with them is pretty clear. I do tend to stick to small wax vendors when I buy my wax because they are affordable, imaginative with fragrances, designs and shapes. But I am open minded towards the bigger wax companies too. One well known company for wax which I’ve always wanted to try but never have (up until now) has been Scentsy. Although I made my purchase with them months ago I’ve only just found time to try their Disney The Last Petal Wax Bar. At the time of purchase this was £8.00 but bought during a flash sale at a cost of less than £3.00 for 74g.

Scentsy’s Disney The Last Petal Wax Melt Snap Bar
    Why did I order this?

Scentsy’s flash sale! THAT’S what made me order! I’ve been curious about their wax but honestly it was out of my price range and this sale made it affordable. I loved how The Last Petal was an official collaboration with Disney. The packaging looked gift giving worthy and I hoped it would have a nice fragrance to it after reading the scent description.

    Packaging

74g of wax is housed in a plastic, flat flip topped lidded container. It’s an interesting shape (see below picture) and probably iconic with this brand. The wax is also foiled sealed at the opening which I like and gives added protection. But the thing that is striking about this is the label. A perfect illustration of the cartoon characters of Belle and The Beast which feels as if it’s been lifted straight from the animated film gives it the cute factor.

    The Wax

The wax is yellow in colour, which matches perfectly with the idea of Belle. It’s segmented with each section having a small embossing on it’s bottom e.g a strawberry shape. It’s very basic in appearance.

    Fragrance

Fruity! I get berries with this one, a little citrus, quite tropical in fact. This makes me think of fruity flavoured chews/sweets because of it’s fruit combination and sweetness. It’s a lovely scent. But would I think of this Disney film and imagine this type of fragrance? No.

    Strength & Longevity

I used two segments of this wax in the wax warmer in my kitchen. It melted quickly (as you can imagine with how warm it is right now!) and it filled the room well. Strength wise I would say this was light to medium. This was a great scent to neutralise the usual kitchen smells. Normally I would melt wax over a few days for a few hours at a time, but it’s just been too hot! But for the few hours this has been on it’s been consistent in smell and strength.

This wax was fine. The Disney connection and how it’s presented I loved and it smelt nice. But I can’t help but feel this scent is similar to ones I’ve experienced before so doesn’t stand out for me and overall was nothing special. Personally I would have liked the fragrance to have been a little stronger and for the scent to reflect the packaging more. And let’s talk about price. If this wax was full price it’s quite expensive for the amount you get, regardless of how it’s packaged. Under £4/5.00 is much more comparable to others on the wax market and affordable. So you are paying for the brand of Scentsy.

Recommended? I haven’t tried other scents yet from Scentsy. This was fragranced well but didn’t wow me. I would recommend to buy this or any other wax bars only under particular circumstances. Wait for a flash sale and don’t pay full price. Read the scent descriptions of the different waxes and try and go for something different, unusual that you might not get from anywhere else and of course, what scents you like! These do make great gifts look wise, so I would be heading towards specific brands such as Harry Potter, Disney or Marvel to purchase for people who love those brands and wax. But only at the right price.

  • They Have A Body Care Range? Scentsy’s Hibiscus Pineapple Sugar Scrub

I’ve known about the brand Scentsy for years. As a wax melt lover I knew they sold wax melts and other home fragrance items such as wax warmers. But body care products? That was a new revelation to me and one that got me very VERY interested in the products they sold. Fast forward the company having a sale a few months ago and me making my very first Scentsy purchase. This included their Hibiscus Pineapple Sugar Scrub. 237ml, originally priced at £14.50. I got this for under £4.00.

    Scentsy Hibiscus Pineapple Sugar Scrub
    Why did I buy this?

I’m a sucker for bath and body products! If I was going to try out wax from Scentsy for the first time (which I did!), it made sense to try out their body products too…surely? Body scrubs I love anyway. The scent of this sounded delicious on their website, the price was affordable and I thought this was the perfect introduction to their body product range.

What is this supposed to do?

Exfoliate and moisturise the skin leaving it feeling soft and smooth.

    Ingredients

Ingredients in this sugar scrub includes sugar, glycerin, sunflower seed oil, shea butter, rice bran extract, argan oil and much more.

    Fragrance

The scent of this scrub is almost edible! It’s sweet, tropical fruity with a little floral thrown in there. Very energising! This isn’t a soft and unassuming fragrance although not too strong in strength. This is one of those fragrances that if you love fruit and you love sweetie inspired scents you will adore this.

    Texture/Consistency

To look at this, it looks more liquid than actual scrub because it does look quite wet. When I first scooped this up it had an almost jelly like consistency. It has a wobble to it, it’s not solid nor liquid and definitely not cream like. Packed with fine sugar particles so not totally smooth and has a slight oiliness to it overall.

    How To Use

Wet skin, rub into the body and then rinse off with warm water.

    In Use

I filled my bath with just water. Once my skin was damp I rubbed this in. What I noticed first was the scrub didn’t slop all over the place as I thought it would. The thought of it being too runny left my mind when I started using it as it went where it needed to go. Rubbing into my skin was easy and I found myself taking time using this. The ratio of solution and sugar was perfect, and the sugar particles where the ideal size to do the work of exfoliation but not damage the skin. These slightly melted with the warmth of my skin while using it.

What I found interesting about this scrub was I thought it would be very oily. I wouldn’t say it was greasy but quite close (although not perfectly) to the feel of a dry oil. So although my skin looked shiny and felt incredibly hydrated and protected, I didn’t feel as if I was bathing in cooking oil. Very unusual texture and I loved it!

After a few minutes of rubbing in, I sat in the bath, washed it off and soaked in the residue left. It was so relaxing and the fragrance was there from beginning to end which I thoroughly enjoyed.

    Skin Afterwards

Soft, soft, soft! Oh my goodness, I stroked my skin many times after using this! It didn’t look very different before using this but didn’t look dry. But it felt so smooth, so soft, so supple and left a little hint of fragrance on my body. When I say my skin felt so good after this I truly mean it! Did I mention how much I enjoyed using this product? It felt like a body treatment not just any old standard scrub.

Cards on the table here. I ADORED this scrub! Loved it! Enjoyed ever aspect of this. The fragrance was glorious. The texture, unusual but works so well. On the skin? It did what it needed to do and more. I would buy this again in a heart beat BUT only when priced right! Nearly £15.00 for a body product under 250ml sorry is a no no for me. Unless it treated a specific concern e.g hyperpigmentation, then I just couldn’t part with that amount of cash. On sale? I would happily buy multiples of this product and stock pile them for myself and for gifts. So thumbs up, finger and even hands from me with this!

You can buy Scenty products direct from the website. Or, if like me, you will know some consultants who work for them. So help them make a pound or two, and boost the sales for your friends or family and order through them if you want to give their scrubs a whirl! But do it at the right price…..

  • April’s Review Round Up. What Products Did I Use?

The fact we are in the second week of May is a reminder how fast 2022 is moving forward. Like all previous months, I’ve bought, tried, and sometimes enjoyed various products and shared my opinions about them. So I thought I would group together all the things I used and reviewed in the month of April.

What Wax Melts Did I Melt This Week with Fragrantasia?

I enjoyed melting wax melts from Fragrantasia. I’ve always found their wax to smell amazing and be of a high quality. Such a shame that their wax is no longer available as Amy, the lovely lady behind the wax, has said goodbye to the business.

First Impressions Of My First Ever Scentsy Order

In all honesty I’ve not had chance to try out the products I purchased from Scentsy. I’ve been too busy to use and review them, but this will be coming up soon! What I liked about this order was how affordable it was, and I managed to get a good mix of wax and body products to give me a good overview of what this brand can offer.

    Aldi’s Lacura Exfoliating Foot Scrub

Mentioning this product has reminded me I really do need to use this this week! As much as I love how Aldi bring out their own skincare products, I was overjoyed to see them focus on the feet. Their Exfoliating Foot Scrub falls into the practical and not expensive category when it comes to body care products. One that should be on your shopping list if your feet need some love and attention.

    Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Foot Cream

A great pairing with the Exfoliating Foot Scrub, Aldi really have brought out a diverse and affordable range of their own branded products in their beauty section. Lacura’s Moisturising Foot Cream, although I wanted more from this, is still a good buy considering the price, size and it containing such a high percentage of Shea butter.

    Q+A’s Grapefruit Cleansing Balm

If you suffer from dry skin and find your cleansing products are stripping your skin of moisture, a cleansing balm is a must to try! Can they be expensive? Yes. But Q+A’s Grapefruit Cleansing Balm isn’t and is an easy, enjoyable product to use to clean your skin daily.

    Palmer’s Coconut Oil Balm

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Balm is one product I pretty much use everyday! And do you know what? The pot is still pretty much full despite this. I use this on my lips, feet, elbows, arms, I just love it!

What Wax Melts Did I Melt This Week From Glow?

Another week of melting wax melts from one particular vendor. This time my week focused on a vendor called Glow. And yet again I loved being able to melt different scents, all smelling fabulous and creating eye popping beautiful wax pools. Great wax and what a great smelling house I had for 7 days!

A Week Of Glow Wax Melts

So another busy month which ranged from using wax melts, skincare and body care. And I enjoyed every single moment of it! Let’s see what’s instore for the month of May!x
