  • Sweet Inspired Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Shower Gel

Having a bath or a shower is part of everyone’s daily routine. It’s not just a way of keeping clean but for many of us it’s a time of relaxation and time out. Whether it’s a quick 5 minute shower or an hour in the bath, personally I like using good quality products in both. So I was so excited when Glow released bath and body products in their March Subscription Box this year which included Raspberry Candy Floss Shower Gel.

Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Shower Gel
    Why did I use this?

I’m a fan of anything that smells sweet, comforting, almost edible and that’s why I wanted to use this. It’s one of my favourite types of scents in general but especially in the bath and shower. So I couldn’t wait to try this out.

    Packaging

Glow’s Raspberry Candy Floss Shower Gel comes in a tall, black flip topped lidded bottle with a white label on the front. I like how this is totally opaque and black in colour because it’s a bit different and stands out. It’s not the easiest bottle to squeeze the shower gel out as it’s so rigid so easier to pour.

    Fragrance

This definitely smells like candy floss! Sweet, sugar based but with the fruity and berry like scent of raspberry which has a slight tartness to it. It smells great and even though it’s sweet it’s not too much.

    Consistency

Clear and liquid but probably a little looser than other shower gels I’ve used before.

    In the bath

Although this is a shower gel I mostly use this in the bath. Under warm running water this foams up quickly and beautifully. White, fluffy and and super soft bubbles were formed and they were beyond plentiful. Not only were there masses of them these bubbles lasted for a long, long time!

The fragrance was definitely there while using this. This is a perfect scent if you want something sweet but not heady. The strength was just right.

I enjoy using this in the bath. It always provides a very relaxing bath full of bubbles, softly fragrant and doesn’t irritate my skin. It’s actually very gentle on my skin even when it feels quite itchy and sore because of the changes in the weather.

In the shower this provides the same sort of experience. Same fragrance, produces lots of bubbles but more creamy on the sponge. And it cleans my body effectively without stripping it of it’s natural moisture.

    Recommended?

Raspberry Candyfloss from Glow is a great bath and shower product. The amount of bubbles it creates is insane, the formula is gentle on the skin and the smell is delicious! Totally recommended! For a handmade product from a small business you would think this would be expensive, but it’s only £4.00 for 250ml.

If Raspberry Candyfloss isn’t your type of fragrance, there are other’s available such as Coconut Whisper, Sparkling Peach and more. Find your perfect bath and shower partner here to purchase.

  • Saving Money With Aldi’s Lacura Lynx Dupe Shower Gels

Lynx is not my favourite brand. When I think of Lynx it takes me back to being a teenage girl in high school. All the boys, and I mean ALL of them reeked of some form of Lynx body spray. Over 20 years later I now have my 13 year old son having the same, strange addiction to these products that half of my school year had in the 1990’s. With the cost of living and trying to save money, I wanted to see if there were cheaper alternatives available that gave a similar performance and fragrance.

Aldi’s Lacura Men’s Shower Gels in Noir and Desert Heat
    Aldi’s Lacura Men Range

Never failing me with their ‘inspired by’ products, is Aldi. When it was difficult to pick up some Lynx shower products due to stock availability, I noticed they had their own versions. The two that I picked up were in the fragrances of Desert Heat and Noir.

    What are their Lynx counterparts?

Desert Heat is Aldi’s version of Africa. Noir is their version of Lynx’s Black.

    Packaging

The shower gels come in very robust, quite masculine looking plastic bottles. Dark grey in colour, flip top lid to dispense the shower gel and the colouring of the label reflects their dupe counterparts (Desert Heat is red, green and black. Noir black and grey).

    Fragrance

Aldi’s Lacura Men’s Desert Heat Shower Gel is fresh, clean, a little zesty with a touch of muskiness to it. Noir is more woody notes based with a slight fruity hit behind it. Just as clean and fresh as Desert Heat. Do they smell like Lynx? I’ve got both the Lynx and Lacura versions in my bathroom and I would say yes. Not identical but similar.

    Consistency

Both shower gels have a typical shower gel consistency. They are fluid with a little thickness to them. Smooth, clear but both are coloured. Desert Heat is green in colour and Noir a very subtle and pale blue/green.

    In use

Not a chance I was going to shower in these but I did wash my hands in them! They lathered well, gave my hands that clean feel and lightly scented them. As for my son using these, they haven’t irritated his skin or dried his skin out and he uses these daily.

    Size & Price

These shower gels are 300ml in size and cost 55p each. Every time I’ve been in my local Aldi store the stock of these have been decent so not had an issue so far in grabbing a few bottles when needed.

    Does my son like these?

Well he uses them! That’s probably the best indication that he’s happy with these shower gels. There is zero point asking his opinion as I will just get a grunt or ‘whatever’, ‘not bothered’. So if he uses them and I’ve had to repurchase them because a bottle has run out, let’s call it his unofficial thumbs up!

    Recommended?

For the price and size of these I would say yes! You get a great amount of product for the price. The packaging is decent and obviously geared towards the men/boys. Fragrances are very similar to their Lynx counterparts and they clean the skin and leave a slight fragrance to it too. So what more do you want for 55p?

  • Affordable Luxury From Glow’s March Bath & Body Subscription Box

There’s a reason subscription boxes are popular. They give customers the chance to try out new products or a combination of products they may never put together themselves. That’s why I’ve enjoyed Glow’s subscription boxes over the last couple of years. March 2023 box was a little different to their previous ones (usually wax melt based). This month’s showcased their new bath, body and fragrance range recently launched on their website. And guess who couldn’t resist buying it? For the cost of £22.00 including postage and packaging, what did I get?

    First impression

As I was ripping open my parcel when it arrived, my first thought was there was ALOT of products in this! A great (and thoughtful) mix of products for the bath, body and even the face. Some of these products would be used everyday (shower gel, hand soap and body mist) and some to help relax and pamper, so more as a treat (bath salts, bath bomb, body butter and eau de parfum etc).

    Madame Body Mist
    Sizes

Sizing is generous with each product. These are not sample sizes but full sized products! Weeks worth of use from Celestial Hand Soap and Raspberry Candy Floss Shower Gel. Up to 4 baths from Dazzling Foaming Bath Salts. Raspberry Candy Floss Body Butter contains many, many applications and Madame Body Mist and Musk Eau de Parfum lots of product to use if and when needed.

    Musk Silhouette Eau de Parfum
    Packaging

All of these items have functional packaging to them. They aren’t fancy but simple in a good and practical way. I really like how the bottles are black which makes them stand out. And the tubs being clear means you can see the product inside.

    Dazzling Foaming Bath Salts
    Fragrances

I’ve had a cheeky sniff of all of these products and they smell fabulous! Most of these are all the types of fragrances I like anyway and these are scented beautifully, fragrant and obvious but not overpowering. I’m not 100% sure abut the foaming bath salts in Dazzling as it’s quite left field for me. But of course I will give it a go before I pass judgement so watch this space!

    Raspberry Candy Floss Body Butter
    The extras!

The added facial tools were totally unexpected but equally welcomed. What a brilliant addition to this already overflowing box of goodies. So not only is the body treated by using the Glow bath and body products but now the face can be pampered too.

    Tropical Paradise Coco Bath Bomb
    Recommended?

I can’t recommend (or not) this box because it was limited in numbers for March’s release. But what I can say is if a similar subscription box comes out like this in the future, then yes! These are practical but luxurious products, full sizes and will cover nearly all of your body care needs. I’ve already been lucky to try a few of these items previously but in different fragrances (*gifted*Pink Sugar Foaming Bath Salts and Amber & Lavender Body Butter) so I know what to expect. But I’m so excited to try the other products. This is what you call affordable luxury even on a budget!

  • Treacle Moon’s Marshmallow Hearts Shower & Bath Gel

The great thing about shopping in a supermarket is you literally can pick up anything. It’s the perfect place to grab your daily essentials, like bath and shower products. In 2019, I started to use products from a company called Treacle Moon, which became a very handy discovery when I found their products on a shelf in my local Tesco. On of the purchases I tried out was Marshmallow Hearts Shower & Bath Gel. It was £3.00 but was on a half price promotion for £1.50.

    Why did I buy this?

I never tried Treacle Moon products before until I received them as gifts for my birthday and Christmas. I really enjoying using them. So I opted to purchase Marshmallow Hearts because I really wanted a product to use in both the shower and bath. Plus I had a feeling I would love how this smelt so fragrance side appealed to me.

Treacle Moon’s Marshmallow Hearts Shower & Bath Gel
    Packaging

500ml of shower and bath gel lives in a plastic bottle with a flip top lid. It’s clear, labeling is super cute with an illustration of a jar of heart shaped marshmallows on it. Plus there’s a paragraph giving you an imaginative description of what the scent of this gel is like.

    Look & Consistency

Although this is a gel it isn’t the typical gel you would think of. This is pale pink in colour, not transparent, so makes me think this is more like a bath or shower cream. Consistency is a thick liquid, which is what you would expect from this type of product.

    Fragrance

The fragrance of Treacle Moon’s Marshmallow Hearts is creamy and sweetie like. A mix of marshmallows, milk bottle sweets with a hint of strawberry milkshake and this is the best way I can describe how this smells to me. This could easily be too sweet and synthetic like in scent but it isn’t. It gives you enough sweetness to keep your nostrils happy but not so much you think you will suffer from diabetes!

    In the shower & bath

I use this product in both shower and bath equally. In the shower on a sponge it lathered up quickly and produced a lot of foam. In the bath I needed very little and the amount of foam produced by two squirts under warm running water was insane! Full, light, airy, white in colour and long lasting.

    On the skin

This cleaned the skin on my body well, left a faint scent to it but not long lasting so no lingering. My skin felt and looked normal after use e.g skin didn’t dried out, irritated, sticky etc.

    Recommended?

Yes! What I love about this is it’s a little different in look packaging wise compared to similar products on the same shelf, which makes it stand out. In regards to the scent, these types of scents are popular but this is a great version and will hold its own compared to others. I really enjoyed using this. It provided a quick, easy and effective shower in the morning and a relaxing, soothing bath in the evening.

This is great for all the family to use as the scent will appeal from the youngest member of the household to the oldest. When I bought this originally it was half price ( £1.50 ), but worthwhile checking special offers as they regularly crop up (Tesco and Waitrose stock Treacle Moon).

If you can’t head down to your local store you can buy their products direct from Treacle Moon themselves here. Go on treat yourself…its affordable!x
