  • Affordable Simple Skincare Products In ASDA

I’m a massive fan of the skincare brand Simple for lots of reasons. Many of their products avoid ingredients which could be irritating on the skin e.g fragrance. There’s a variety of different products available which addresses different skin concerns. And what makes this brand even better is their low and affordable price point. Regularly on offer in various places, I found 3 Simple products that didn’t break the bank price wise in my local ASDA store. So what were they?

    Simple Skincare Products in ASDA
    Simple’s Micellar Water

Used to effectively remove dirt and make-up while not drying out skin by helping it stay hydrated. This massive 400ml bottle was only £3.50.

    Simple’s Micellar Water
    Simple’s Age Resisting Facial Wash

Containing green tea and prebiotics, this face wash is probably geared more towards older skin or those worried about the signs of ageing. Simple’s Age Resisting Facial Wash is supposed to maintain a healthy skin barrier and not strip or dry out the skin. ASDA’s current price is £3.00.

    Simple’s Age Resisting Facial Wash
    Simple’s Skin Quench Sleeping Cream

Highly moisturising but light in texture, Simple’s Skin Quench Sleeping Cream is packed with minerals and vitamins. Skin should look and feel softer and smoother after use. Usual price £7.00 down to £3.50.

Would I buy any of these?

Simple’s Micellar Water is such a good size and something that would be a good purchase for my eye make-up loving daughter. The facial wash I would buy for myself because it sounds suitable for my skin. But I’m not tempted by the Sleeping Cream. I think the texture would be too light for me as I prefer something thicker and heavier.

If you’re a fan of Simple, it’s worthwhile checking what’s available in your local ASDA. These prices are just as good as the products themselves.

  • New Make-Up, Make-Up Tools & Skincare In Home Bargains

Most of us like to see new products on the shelves in our local Home Bargains. More so when they’re affordable. In the last week I’ve seen some items which could grab the attention of anyone from make-up and skincare lovers to teens and young adults. So what’s new?

    Home Bargain Finds!
    w7 False Nails

Very decorative and striking set of 24 nails with glue included. Different designs and colourings available, great for those who like eye catching nails and nail art. 99p per pack.

    w7 False Nails
    w7 Lash & Brow Serum

A lash and brow serum is a good product to have to keep both lashes and brows groomed and conditioned. A product that’s overlooked and could be great for those who love applying make-up on these areas or those who like a natural look. Only 99p.

    w7 Lash & Brow Serum
    w7 Ultra Plush Mascara

There seems to be an influx of w7 products in Home Bargains at the moment but I doubt there will be any complaints from shoppers! Included with other make-up products is a mix of different mascara’s, but I only saw one version on my last look which was Ultra Plush Mascara. This is to help add volume and fullness to lashes but in a soft and less harsh looking and feeling way. Cost? You guessed it, 99p!

    w7 Plush Mascara
    Face Facts Blemish Patches

These aren’t new as I’ve seen these before in store, but they fly in and fly out. Face Facts Blemish Patches are designed to help deal with spots. Each shaped patch placed over a spot/blemish, helps to get all the nasty stuff out of it and help to protect it too. Fragrance free, which can help if skin is irritated. Another 99p product!

    Face Facts Blemish Patches
    Ecotools Fiery Eyes Kit

A 6 piece brush kit dedicated to the eye area, Ecotools Fiery Eyes Kit is a great looking brush set. All different shapes and sizes are included, which can cover all eye make-up application needs. £2.99.

All of these products cost more on other websites or in stores, so a great way to pay the lowest prices if you wanted to try some of these out.

  • Cien’s Simple Dupe Refreshing Facial Wash

Now that I have two teenagers (nearly) in my house, the hygiene and skincare products I’m buying has multiped. Deodorants, fragrances, body moisturisers and various other lotions and potions are now being bought not just for myself, but for my son and daughter too. One thing that is a regular buy is a facial wash. We seem to go through the stuff like crazy! Our latest cleanser purchased is Lidl’s Cien Refreshing Facial Wash. This cost £1.09 for 150ml with a 15% off promotion.

    Lidl’s Cien Refreshing Facial Wash
    Why did I buy this?

For the kids (and occasionally me), I normally grab Aldi’s Lacura Moisturising Facial Wash but I didn’t have time to visit the store. So I opted for this instead. Both products are dupes of Simple skincare products (Simple’s Moisturising Facial Wash and Simple’s Refreshing Facial Wash), both are fragrance free (less irritating and more gentle on the skin) and both very affordable. We’ve never used this before but I thought we would give this a go.

Cien Refreshing Facial Wash, what does it do?

Lidl’s Cien Refreshing Facial Wash is designed to be a kind to the skin but be an effective cleanser. No fragrance, colour, alcohol and soap free, so this is suitable for those with sensitive skin. This also contains various vitamins (Vitamin B5 & E), all aimed to provide a gentle cleanse.

    Packaging

The packaging reminds me very much of Simple’s Refreshing Facial Wash. Plastic tube, tainted green with the overall look of something that’s designed to be natural. Very basic in appearance but seems sturdy and fit for use.

    Consistency, Look & Fragrance

Cien’s Refreshing Facial Wash is clear, liquid and more runnier than what I thought it would be. I thought it would be thicker but it wasn’t. And of course, no scent as it’s fragrance free.

    On the skin

I applied this onto wet skin. Although it lathered slightly there wasn’t much of it. I could work it into my skin but I felt I needed more so I used more. It felt fine on the skin, but it didn’t quite feel as fresh and moisturising as other facial washes I’ve used before. It just felt ok.

It didn’t make my skin feel or look dry, although it was clean. It removed eyebrow pencil and sun cream reasonably well so it did what it needed to do. But I didn’t particularly enjoy using this and I felt my skin needed something a little more comforting and as mentioned, moisturising in feel.

    Recommended?

It did the job! A facial wash should clean the skin, make it look and feel fresh without stripping it. Lidl’s Cien Refreshing Facial Wash did this. This is absolutely fine for my kids and they will use it but I won’t. I’ve used others that I preferred more and felt were better suited to my skin compared to this one. But if you’re on a budget with normal to combination skin, even a little oily, this would be fine. If your skin is more drier, mature or you want something a little more hydrating (like me) this might not be the right formulation for you. But for £1.09, who wouldn’t give it a whirl?

  • Natures Clinic Skincare Products Under £3.00 Each In Home Bargains

Depending on the brand and where bought, grabbing a whole skincare routine can be as expensive or as cheap as you want it to be. We all have different needs and wants from the products we put on our skin which makes a huge variety of products (and prices) on the market ideal for everyone. A brand I’ve never heard of but caught my eye is Natures Clinic. I found their skincare range in Home Bargains with each product costing under £3.00. So what did they have in their range?

    Natures Clinic Skincare Products
Natures Clinic Pro Collagen + Carrot Oil Brightening Day Cream

There wasn’t any information on what skin type this is for or what it will do to the skin. I can only assume it will moisturise and nourish. With shea butter as an ingredient this should at least do this if not anything else. 50ml for £2.99.

    Natures Clinic Day Cream
Natures Clinic Bio Retinol Calming Night Cream

Like the day cream, this contains shea butter. There’s also an ingredient in this called bakuchiol, which helps to improve the look of wrinkles, lines and texture of the skin. 50ml for £2.99.

    Natures Clinic Night Cream
Natures Clinic Vitamin C + Tea Tree Relieving Face Serum

Like the other products mentioned, there’s no real information on what type of skin this is designed for and what it’s supposed to do. But containing vitamin c I assume it’s to help brighten the skin and tea tree oil to help with break outs. So possibly geared towards more of an oily skin type. 50ml for £2.49.

    Natures Clinic Face Serum
Natures Clinic Bio Retinol Soothing Eye Serum

This is probably the one product that I’ve been tempted to purchase because it’s an eye serum! The packaging does mention it can help improve the look of dark circles and give the under eye area a more fresher look. This contains, like the night cream, bakuchiol, and also aloe vera which is soothing. £2.49 for 30ml.

    Natures Clinic Eye Serum
Natures Clinic Turmeric + Vitamin E Purifying Face Scrub

I didn’t get a chance to read the ingredients of this product properly, but I think this scrub is a physical exfoliator rather than a chemical one. Like all scrubs, they are designed to get rid of any dead skin cells leaving a fresher and smoother skin underneath. The size of this made me think this was for the body at 200ml, for £2.99.

    Natures Clinic Face Scrub
    My thoughts on this range

Packaging is good. The colours are all beautiful muted tones which is really nice to look at and looks more expensive than what its being sold for. There’s a good mix of skincare products available. If there was a cleanser, you literally would have a full skincare routine at your finger tips. And of course the prices are budget friendly and affordable. The downside to this range is it doesn’t have enough information on the packaging. What skin type is best for what? What does each product do? There’s not much info on the products and brand online to do any research on either. But like anything, some things work for some people, some things don’t. And at this price point I would give one product a go and take it from there.
