  • On A Skincare Budget? Try Beauty Pro’s 49p Sheet Masks

When it comes to looking after the skin on your face or body, it’s important to think about your budget. Having a small amount to spend doesn’t mean you are priced out of treating the skin you are in. It just means you have to keep your eyes out for products that are priced affordably. So what did I manage to pick up recently for less than £1.00? 2 Beauty Pro sheet masks from Home Bargains for 49p each. One infused with pumpkin, and the other turmeric.

Beauty Pro’s Pumpkin & Turmeric Infused Sheet Masks
What are these sheets masks supposed to do?

Both of these masks are part of their plant based range which means they’re harnessing the powers of plants and herbs. Beauty Pro’s Pumpkin Infused Sheet Mask is designed to give the skin a more brighter and softer look and feel because it contains natural fruit enzymes. Turmeric Infused Sheet Mask is supposed to brighten, hydrate and help to encourage skin renewal.

    Packaging

These sheet masks come in the typical looking sachets most masks come in. But what caught my eye buying these was how natural and wholesome these look. The colour of the sachets, not looking plastic and shiny in look, it gives a natural appearance which suits this plant based range 100%.

I decided to try out Turmeric Infused Sheet Mask. This was a typical sheet mask in look, feel, style and shape. The mask had a decent thickness to it and all the holes for the areas of the face were sized perfectly. Very moist with solution, but not dripping wet (which I hate!).

On the skin this was very easy to apply and stuck onto my face well for the full 15 minute duration. There was no movement and it felt very comfortable to wear. What I loved about this was how soothing and cooling this sheet mask felt. It was so relaxing to wear and enjoyable.

After 15 minutes I took this off. There was lots of serum still left on my skin which I patted into my face and neck. My skin went from looking slightly damp to naturally moisturised.

The Morning After The Night Before

My skin looked and felt very rested the following morning. It didn’t dramatically change but I did feel the sheet mask did something. Firstly, my skin wasn’t dry and was still quite moisturised. Two spots that were invading my face and growing before using this had looked flatter and better behaved. Overall, I was very happy with this skincare product.

    Recommended?

Oh yes! I never expect miracles with sheet masks. But what I want is to use something that moisturises the skin, soothes it, relaxes it (and me) and not cost me a small fortune. And this ticks all the boxes!

If you are lucky enough to spot this in your local Home Bargains store, definitely grab a few. Whether that’s for yourself or for gifting. I now wished I picked up more because direct from Beauty Pro they are currently £3.50!

  • Affordable Elf’s Superclarify Cleanser

I love a cleanser. Having a clean face first thing in the morning and last thing at night, is the best way to start and finish my day. It’s safe to say I don’t mind trying out a new cleanser when I can. So, when I ran out of a facial cleanser a few months ago, I decided to purchase Elf’s Superclarify Cleanser from Boots. It was on a special offer and part of a 3 for 2 deal so actually cost me nothing. Normally it retails for £8.00.

    Elf’s Superclarify Cleanser
    Why did I buy this?

I genuinely needed a cleanser and noticed this whole range was on a 3 for 2 which made purchasing very appealing and also affordable. I’ve never bought or tried the ELF skincare range but heard good things about it and their prices seemed fair too.

What is this supposed to do?

This is a lightly foaming cleanser designed to gently clean the skin by removing dirt, oil and make-up effectively. Skin should look clean, smoother and overall fresher after use.

    Packaging

I love how this is packaged! 100ml comes in a vibrant orange plastic tube with the text on it in white, which makes it pop! This doesn’t look or feel as if it’s aiming for an older market, it seems more younger. But visually I like it.

    Texture

The texture of this reminds me of a shower gel or bath soak. It’s liquid but not too runny as there’s a slight thickness to it. Colour wise, it’s not clear and has an almost pearlescence to it, so quite appealing.

    Fragrance

Not heavily scented but definitely fragranced. There’s a light hint of lavender in this which isn’t too distracting and quite subtle. I didn’t dislike how this cleanser smelt but I did wonder what was the purpose of the fragrance unless the lavender was an ingredient that happened to have a scent?

    In Use

The instructions say rub a small amount of this cleanser onto the face which I did. After a few seconds it felt as if my skin had sucked it up as there was nothing really to keep rubbing into my skin. At this point I splashed water onto my face, which gave it a little life and the tiniest amount of foam. It didn’t go full on face wash mode though. In fact, I needed to go back in for a little more and add more water so it felt more cleanser like. This helped a little. It rinsed off fine and overall was quite a quick cleanser to use.

Elf’s Superclarify Cleanser removed the day’s dirt and grime well, along with eyebrow pencil and suncream. My skin looked clean but did feel a touch tight. Did I notice any improvements to my skin e.g smoothness? No not really. It did what a cleanser is meant to do which is clean it.

    Recommended?

If I’m honest I used this months ago, stopped using it and picked it up again. It didn’t bowl me over the last time I used it, and I didn’t particularly enjoy using this. But as a cleansing product it did the job. In regard to cost it’s not expensive and can be found on promotion every so often in stores such and online. It’s a decent size so would last a good number of weeks if not months of daily use. But I can’t feel this is for people under 25 years old so not me. Would I repurchase this? Not sure. Would I recommend it? For all the reasons I’ve already mentioned I would but maybe for the younger market? I can’t see this doing any harm but it’s not my favourite cleanser I’ve used.

If this cleanser sounds appealing to you, at the time or writing this post, it is on a 3 for 2 at Boots which covers most of the ELF skincare range.

  • Aldi’s Lacura Vitamin C Brightening Cleanser, is it Good?

I’m a fan of the supermarket Aldi’s own brand called Lacura. It should come as no major surprise that I bought one of their most recently stocked skincare products in the form of Lacura ‘s Vitamin C Brightening Daily Cleanser. I gave my first impressions of this cleanser when I first purchased it. Now that I’ve used this for a few weeks, what do I think about this product now?

Aldi’s Lacura Vitamin C Brightening Daily Cleanser
    Packaging

This packaging is very practical and easy to use. Being housed in a flip topped plastic tube makes it easy to dispense the product. Not hard to squeeze out the amount you want to use. If this is given as a gift, just so you know, it does comes boxed which makes it so much more presentable.

    Fragrance

I love this fragrance! It’s orange but not a zesty orange. It’s more softer, creamier and more comforting compared to a more acidic citrus smell. Not strong but obvious enough for you to smell and enjoy when using this cleanser.

    In Use

I currently use this morning and night. I squeeze out half a fingertip of cleanser onto my hands and rub it into my face which is dry. When using this at first, it’s a cream cleanser. I can rub this all over my face and at some point, it feels like it can’t rub in anymore. Then I add water to my hands which goes onto my face. This is when the once cream cleanser turns into a facial wash. Adding the water creates a light foam and totally changes the consistency compared to when it’s first used. When I add the water, I am not joking, I could move this cleanser all over my face forever! You add more water to it, and it keeps going, as if it’s reactivated. This takes a little time to rinse off if you’re thorough with it. Personally I enjoy this process.

Once I rinse this off, I pat my skin down with a damp and slightly warmed face cloth. My skin doesn’t feel dry but it does feel clean and fresh and ready for whatever I want to put onto my skin next. It’s important to add I wear suncream every day. No make-up, but this really does get my skin to a clean base canvas whether that’s in the evening or the morning.

    cream cleanser to facial wash
    Recommended?

I totally recommend this! The amount you use (you don’t need much) and the size of this tube (125ml) means this should last a good amount of time. Fragrance is appealing and the consistency is perfect. A comforting, cream cleanser which turns into a refreshing face wash? That doesn’t dry out the skin? The perfect combination which I think so many people will love the way I do. The price (£4.99) means you can purchase this without going bankrupt and possibly buy 2 at the same time and put the other one away for future use.

My only issue with this product, and the range in general, is availability. My local store has NONE of this range on its shelf at the moment. No matter how good this product is, if you can’t buy it, that’s a problem.

If Lacura’s Vitamin C Brightening Daily Cleanser sounds appealing to you and you manage to see this in your local Aldi store, you know what to do! Unfortunately, this isn’t available online so grab this while you can.

  • Budget Pampering Masking’s Aloe Vera Under Eye Masks

What I wouldn’t give to be able to walk into any store, shop online, and order any skincare products I fancied. This would be my idea of HEAVEN! Unfortunately, this won’t be happening. It’s called being a responsible spender. But it doesn’t mean I can’t get my skincare fix on the cheap. My local Tesco store sell a variety of different branded skincare products, including one called Masking. These are a selection of different sheets masks with one thing in common, they are all budget friendly. So, I thought I would try their Aloe Vera Under Eye Masks, which contain 2 sets of eye masks, at a budget busting cost of….£1.00!

Masking Aloe Vera Under Eye Masks
    Why did I buy this?

I was actually buying a few pieces for a friend’s birthday. I thought some sheet face masks would be nice and I grabbed these for her as well. But as I put them in the basket, I realised how much I fancied them. So for £1.00 I thought I might as well buy myself a sachet too!

What are these supposed to do?

These eye masks are supposed to leave the under-eye area feeling fresher, soothed and more relaxed thanks to them containing aloe vera. They are also designed to help with puffiness.

What do you get & How are these packaged?

You don’t get just one pair of eye masks you get two! These come in the typical sachet type packaging, but the masks are housed in their own separate sachet. Joined to the other, which you can pull a part. So, no need to worry about ruining one pair because the packaging is open and can’t be re-sealed.

These don’t look very fancy. But you can’t help but know these contain aloe vera thanks to the illustrations all over the white coloured sachets. Basic but look wise is acceptable.

    Ingredients

Some of the ingredients include water, glycerin, aloe vera juice, witch hazel, horse chestnut seed extra and caffeine.

    In Use

When I took a pair out of the sachet, I realised these are almost gel/rubber like in texture rather than typical sheet mask texture. When you take them out there are coverings on them you have to take off. These stop them from sticking together. These weren’t the most serum-soaked eye masks I’ve ever used but placing them onto the skin I found they were very cooling. Eye mask shaped, easy to place on and stayed on throughout the recommended 15-20 minutes of wear. I enjoyed wearing these.

When I took these off after 20 minutes, I added a little of the remaining serum from the sachet and dabbed it around my eyes. Roughly an hour later I had a look at my under eyes and they appeared to be no different (I didn’t expect anything to change to be honest!). What did surprise me was although my under eyes didn’t feel dry, they didn’t feel particularly hydrated. This was a little disappointing. I hoped for moisture and soft and supple under eyes, but I didn’t get this.

    Recommended?

For £1.00 I didn’t expect much. These are what they are and despite what I paid, these types of products are limited in what they can do. These were cooling on the skin, slightly fun to use and gives you a mindset of pampering. And that’s it. If you want something cheap and cheery, nothing too serious, slapping something on in the bath, go for it! If you want serious skincare, a moisture hit for tired, dried or aged under eyes then no. Treat these for what they are and you can’t go wrong.
