  • Cosy Winters Night Whipped Soap By Lotions & Potions

What products do you use in the bath or shower to wash your body? The market is FULL of various gels, creams, mousses and soaps, that we’re spoilt for choice. Personally, what I use depends on my mood. If I’m in a ‘I want to treat myself’ mindset, I will go with something a little luxurious. If I’m tired and have lost the will to live, something ordinary and simple. One product I’ve used on and off over the years in both the shower and the bath is whipped soaps. The last one I purchased was in Lotions & Potions December Pamper Box, caled Cosy Winters Night Whipped Soap. So, what is it like?

    Packaging

120g of whipped soap is housed in a clear, plastic, lidded pot. The fact it’s clear lets you have a sneak peak of what the whipped soap looks like. The lid, I love, as it’s embossed with the Lotions & Potions logo. Also included is a mention that these products from this business are chemical free. The packaging is practical, simple, not flashy and has a ‘natural’ feel to it.

    Look & consistency

Cosy Winters Night Whipped Soap comes in a beautiful and bright spring like yellow colour. Very vibrant and eye catching. The whipped soap you can see has literally been piped into it’s packaging because of the shape its in. It looks thick, solid, holds its shape and dusted with glittery pigments and silver and gold tiny star shapes. Very pretty!

    Fragrance

Cosy Winter Night Whipped Soap is a difficult scent to describe. Its fresh and clean, which is great for everyone and anyone. Very comforting in scent, has a sweet amber like hint to it. It’s beautiful and definitely screams winter to me.

    On the body

I use a fingertip amount of this whipped soap on each body part. Despite the fact that this comes out quite hard and solid, rubbed into the skin it softens and almost melts away. On a sponge, this lathers up beautifully but doesn’t create bubbles. What it does is leave a creamy, soft covering over the skin, it then does what a traditional soap does on the skin, slightly foam and then clean. Does it clean the skin well? Oh yes! Very enjoyable and easy to use. The scent made this product even more decadent and pleasurable and left my skin feeling soft, smooth and clean.

    Recommended?

Gorgeous fragrance, texture to die for, cleans the skin well and does it in a way that its an experience rather than a simple wash of the body. Yes! Recommended! If, like me, you love your richer, thicker textures when it comes to the products you use, you will LOVE this!

Cosy Winters Night Whipped Soap was part of special, seasonal box, so no longer available. But other scented whipped soaps are available here. All 120g and £5.50 each. Enjoy!

  • Glow’s Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Sugar Scrub

Why is a body scrub a good body care product to use? It’s a simple, pampering and an effective product which can immediately improve the look and feel of the skin. It gets rid of dead and dry skin, smooths it out and improves the overall condition of it. Perfect step after cleaning the skin and before applying a moisturiser product. Do I love a body scrub? Yes. Do I use one often? No. Am I using one currently? Yes I am! I’m using Glow’s Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Sugar Scrub that was a part of their December Subscription Box. What is it like?

Glow’s Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Sugar Scrub
    Packaging

150g of scrub comes in a clear, plastic pot. It’s not an exciting form of packaging look wise but it’s practical, sturdy and you can see the product inside it.

    How does it look?

Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Sugar Scrub is a cute shade of soft pink. It looks rich and decadent, not totally smooth because there’s tiny sugar particles in it. It looks almost solid but it isn’t. Firm but soft.

    Fragrance

I experienced this fragrance in the Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Bubble Bar and this is exactly the same scent. Spicy in a cinnamon warming type of way, with a hint of cooling, fresh mint with a slight bakery smell. I had my doubts whether this fragrance would work because there’s a lot going on but the more I smell it the more I love it!

    On the skin

I used a fingertip of scrub on each body part. I made sure my skin was damp, and this rubbed over my skin like a dream. This almost melted while applying it. It became softer and created what I call a little ‘froth’ on the skin. I could feel the sugar in it because the sugar particles were the perfect size. Not too small where they wouldn’t do anything and not too big that they didn’t exfoliate. I could feel the exfoliating action and didn’t need to apply too much pressure. Easy to rinse off the skin. Using this while in the bath turned the water cloudy in an almost milk bath treatment way.

The fragrance of this is TO DIE FOR! This really made my bathroom smell good and I enjoyed using this product, not only because of the texture but because of the fragrance too.

My skin after using this, when dry, was incredibly soft and smooth. I noticed this while applying body lotion and also found my skin was lightly scented with the scrub’s fragrance.

Glow’s Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread Sugar Scrub is a beautiful body product. The fragrance is seasonal, unusual and VERY good, the consistency of this product is perfect and it does what it’s designed to do on the skin. This body scrub NEEDS to be bought so totally recommended! Fragrance is a personal choice and Spiced Cocoa Mint Gingerbread will be loved by many but not all, so there are other fragrance options to choose from. All scrubs are 150ml, cost only £3.50 each and available here.

  • My First Impressions Of Home of Honey Wax Melts

If you’ve read my blog, you will know how much I love wax melts. Using wax melts is my favourite way to fragrance my home and has been for years. You can pick up wax melts from anywhere on the high street but I still find small businesses who make and sell wax melts are the best. I was kindly gifted a selection of wax melts from a business called Home of Honey to try out. So what did I receive?

    Home of Honey wax melts
    3 Snap Bars

These came in the fragrances of Ghost, Belle and Lily of the Valley. All three beautifully coloured and 50g each, which will give hours of fragrance.

    A sachet of wax brittle

Wax brittle is flat, irregular (but sizeable) pieces of wax. This came in the fragrance of English Pear & Freesia. Lovely Spring/Summer colours of pinks and greens with a splash of glitter. Packaged well in a sealed sachet.

    2 Singular shapes

Included in this set was two single wax melts. One heart shaped and faceted. The other a chunky, cloud shape. The first is in the fragrance of Plum, Rose & Patchouli, the second is Rose Wonderland. Plum, Rose & Patchouli wax melt is perfect for that one time use because of the size. No cutting, just pop it straight in. Rose Wonderland needs chopping up because of it’s generous size and weight of 40g.

    2 Duos

2 small wax melts with each duo housed in a small sachet. Baby Powder is shaped in two rings and Angel Halo two faceted hearts.

A tube of 16 mini wax melts

16 mini cloud shaped wax melts in the fragrance of Savage, was the last in this collection from Home of Honey. 8 in a blue colour and the other 8 in a creamy/pinkish hue. These came in a clear plastic tube. I’ve never seen wax melts housed like this and I LOVE this idea! Very imaginative, practical, easy to store and easy to use.

    First impressions?

It’s obvious this wax vendor takes a lot of time, care and thought into how they want their wax to look and packaged. First impressions count and these ticked the box. The wax melts look great and are very appealing. Deliberately or not, all the colours came together almost themed, which I appreciated. The fragrances of the wax melts I received are a brilliant mix of designer fragrance dupes, Summer perfect scents and classics, which everyone will enjoy.

How do these smell? I’ve had a few sniffs while they are in their packaging and they all smell beautiful. They will be melted very soon, so wait and read what I thought of the performance of these wax melts.

In the meantime, check out Home of Honey’s wax melts products via their website to see what wax goodies they have available for purchase.

  • Glow’s Essentially Glow Body Butter

We all have a go to body cream or lotion that we grab to use because it always works. It could be the texture, the fragrance or how moisturising it feels on the skin that makes us love it. One that is definitely high up there on my favourites list is a body butter. It’s always been a body moisturiser I adore, so there’s always a few floating around in my body care collection. One of the newest ones to grace my bathroom shelf is Glow’s Essentially Glow Body Butter. I received this in their New Year New You January Subscription Box last month. So what is it like?

    Glow’s Essentially Glow Body Butter
    Packaging

This body butter comes in a cardboard tub, with a very firm lid keeping everything in place. Being made from this material means it’s fully recyclable and much more eco friendly than other materials.

    Texture

Essentially Glow Body Butter is whipped, solid but melt in the hands type of texture. Truly decadent in feel and goes from a solid to a liquid within a few seconds of being handled by warm hands or/and fingertips.

    Fragrance

This has a very calming and soothing scent to it, which is soft lavender with an almost citrusy kick to it underneath. Beautifully fragranced and ideal for night time use to help with relaxation.

    In use

There’s something very satisfying scooping this out of it’s tub. It’s quite solid, as I’ve already mentioned, and feels so rich and luxurious. I just knew my skin was in for a treat from that first moment. The amount it took to cover a finger tip was enough for each part of my body. I rubbed this into the palms of my hand and it quickly went from a solid to an oil. On the skin, it coated it beautifully, leaving it feeling moisturised and gave it a glistened look not a greasy appearance. Despite it being more oil based this felt on the skin not particularly heavy and very comfortable.

The fragrance was there. How this smells makes it perfect for night time use because it’s so relaxing, not distracting but gives the body a hug.

    Recommended?

I’ve always been a body butter fan. There is zero change in that thought using Glow’s Essentially Glow Body Butter. The texture is unique and pampering, the fragrance is beautiful and it moisturises and cocoons the skin without making it look and feel oily. It’s a brilliant body product and I think everyone who likes a body butter really needs to try this out because this a perfection!

Not in stock at the time of writing this post, but keep your eyes peeled on the Glow website for updates because you need it!
