  • Dry Lips? Have A Look At Lip-C Smile’s Lip Scrub

I HATE dry lips! I’m currently dealing with this issue right now. The cold weather and central heating has a lot to answer for! My work jacket bulges with various lip oils and balms to help me throughout the day dealing with rough and flaky lips. One product I don’t purchase and use often to help with this problem is a lip scrub. But I did get one as a gift from a friend last year. Handmade and sold by small business called Lip-C Smile, in a raspberry fragrance.

    Lip-C Smile Raspberry Lip Scrub
What is this supposed to do?

This lip scrub is designed to get rid of any dry and flaky skin on the lips, leaving this area smoother and softer in look and feel.

    Packaging

50g of lip scrub comes in a clear pot with a white screw top lid. This comes boxed.

    How does it look?

This particular version of Lip-C Smile’s lip scrub is in a very vibrant bubblegum pink colour. This is a very grainy lip scrub which looks jam packed with sugar granules but not so much oil. It glistens but doesn’t appear to be oily but quite dry and solid.

    Fragrance

The version I have is in the fragrance of raspberry. It smells more strawberry in a sweetie kind of way rather than the fruit in my opinion. It smells nice, not particularly strong but it’s there.

    How to use

On the website it says to use this twice a week day or night.

    In use

I found it easier to apply this onto damp lips rather than dry. I had to go into this pot a few times to get the right amount of scrub to use. It’s so grainy that it didn’t feel like it stuck on my lips as much as I would have liked, and it didn’t move around this area very smoothly. I could feel the grains over my lips and it did create an exfoliating action. But it did feel a little too rough for me.

Lips did feel and look smoother, but not particularly moisturised. Application meant my lips did get messy and if I’m honest it was easier to just lick this off (it tasted nice). To remove this properly I think a face cloth would have been good but I didn’t have one to hand.

This lip scrub should have had a higher oil content to it. This would have made application easier, nicer, removal better and for the lip area to be more moisturised.

    Recommended?

This is a massive amount of product per pot. A lip scrub doesn’t need to be this big, around the 15/20g would suffice. If used once or twice a week, this could be sat unused for months and be wasted. But it is brilliant value priced at £5.00, but this amount isn’t necessary. Not ideal to carry around as you would a lip balm or oil because of it’s size.

The texture wasn’t right for me. It was too harsh and the addition of a small amount of oil would have solved this. Not only would it be a nicer application, leave a more nourished lip area but would make clean up easier for the user.

So this isn’t a product for me. I don’t think I’m a massive fan of lip scrubs anyway. It’s not something I would use every week but maybe every few months. Would I recommend this product to someone else? It does the job but needs tweaking. But for the amount you get it’s a decent buy! It comes in a variety of different fragrances/flavours, and you can purchase yours here.

  • Breathtaking Rancher Wax Melt From Strawberry’s Wax Creations

Buying and using wax melts to fragrance a home is addictive. Anything that makes an area of a home smell nice and makes it inviting will be something you would want to recreate regularly if not everyday. So it’s no wonder wax melts are popular. One UK wax vendor I purchase my wax melts from is Strawberry’s Wax Creations (formally known as Strawberry Melts). A wax melt I bought from in a past restock was Breathtaking Rancher.

Breathtaking Rancher Wax Melts by Strawberry’s Wax Creations
Why did I buy this wax melt?

This is what I call a fusion, a merge of two separate scents. Breathtaking I’ve had before on its own. Not my usual go to scent but I found it quite interesting. Rancher is a scent that IS my typical go to and I just wanted to see if they would work together.

    How does this look?

A trio of three chunky wax shapes consisting of a love heart, star and flower. All three being the same colouring which is the softest of green topped off with a darker shade of green. Each shape being the perfect size to pop in a wax warmer.

    Strawberry’s Wax Creations Scent Description

Top notes of lemon, sweet orange and aloe waters. Middle notes of white pepper, white eucalyptus and a steam room accord. Bottom notes of sea moss, beach wood and clear musk. Rancher – Super sweet, super fun. Just like the pineapple flavoured candy.

    Fragrance

The three melts were in a plastic wrapper and when opened up the first thing that hit me was a juicy, ripe, sweet hit of pineapple. Mouthwatering, the type that makes you dribble. Even more so because its not just the smell of pineapple…oh no…but with added syrupy sugar that smells of pineapple flavoured sweets. Not that dissimilar to a pineapple cube if you’ve never tried a rancher. After the fruitiness came a more earthy, crisper and cleaner scent underneath which is what I’ve gotten before while melting Breathtaking on its own in the past. Somehow these two work and don’t fight each other but compliment.

    In melt

I popped one of these into my warmer and slowly but surely it melted away leaving a beautiful sea green pool of wax. The scent was already there, and like so many wax melts from Strawberry Melts the scent grew and grew and filled the room rather than deliver a massive hit and then linger and disappear.

    Strength & Longevity

Medium to strong in strength. Obvious but not heady. Important for me at the moment with suffering from hay fever as my head can be super sensitive. Longevity was very good. I changed my wax to a new one purely for a change rather than the scent had gone, and this was melting away for at least a good 4 hours at a time for 4 days.

    Recommended?

A curious blend which I’m glad I took a chance on. I seem to be finding some brilliant blends at the moment that on paper don’t quite match but do in real life work! And if there was anytime to melt this THIS would be the perfect time of year, due to it having that tropical Summery smell. I would love to see this come up for sale again and give this a massive thumbs up. Not available at the moment as the scents and wax changes regularly but visit Strawberry’s Wax Creations website here to see what is currently up for purchase and to keep tabs on this making a reappearance.

  • Druid and the Witch Rainbow Cloud

Bath bombs are available everywhere. Shops, supermarkets, discount stores. But how many people buy their bath time treats from small businesses who make and sell their own bath products?. I definitely do! One business I’ve bought bath products from has been Druid and the Witch. I purchased a collection of products from them including their Rainbow Cloud Bath Bomb last year. Individually this costs £2.20.

Rainbow Cloud by Druid and the Witch
    How does this look?

No surprises but this comes in the shape of a cloud. It’s flat and takes up the palm of my hand so a really good size. On the front it’s mainly white in colour with a delicate addition of light purple highlighting around the edge. There’s also a slight shimmer to this bath bomb and a hand painted silver lightening bolt shape on the left hand side of it. If you look on the bottom edge of Rainbow Cloud you can see different colours popping through ( purple, blue, yellow ) giving you a hint of what’s to come when this is added to a bath.

    Fragrance

This was labelled as Blueberry Lemon in scent. When I took this out of its plastic wrapper and gave it a little sniff there was a faint smell of something citrusy but if I’m honest it wasn’t strong or clear what exactly this was fragranced with.

    In the bath

While warm running water was filling my bath, Rainbow Cloud Bath Bomb spun round and round like a windmill. As it was turning it released streams of different colours. It wasn’t as uniformed as what I thought it would be e.g separate straight lines of colour, but colour was there. While the different colours was released ( green, purple and yellow ), some foam was created. Once the has disappeared altogether, it turned the water in the bath into a pretty sea topped off with fluffy foam.

One thing that did disappoint me a little was lack of fragrance. It was barely there. Was this to do with the fact I had this bath bomb in my stash for awhile? Too long that it lessened the fragrance of it? Not too sure. But fragrance was what Rainbow Cloud Bath Bomb was lacking.

    On the skin

No issues for me, no irritation, and I continued with my usual after bathing ritual of moisturising with a body lotion while feeling very relaxed.

    Recommended?

I would happily try this out again in a different fragrance and use straight away once purchased to see if the fragrance behaves differently. As mentioned, it was only the smell or lack of that didn’t quite grab me but everything else I enjoyed. It’s affordable, kids would love this and overall I think it was fun. So would I recommend this? I would say give it a go if you like a bit of bath art from your bath bomb.

Druid and the Witch have lots of bath and body treats available that come in various forms, fragrances and budgets here.

  • Lolly & Moo’s Eastern Promise Bubbly Salt Soak

Lolly & Moo’s Eastern Promise Bubbly Salt Soak

Am I a shower or bath person? Both. A quick clean and wake up comes from the shower. A bath in the evening is my time to relax and hopefully look forward to a restful night’s sleep. In the bath I use different types of products, one of which is bath salts. One I’m currently using is Lolly & Moo’s Eastern Promise scented Bubbly Salt Soak.

    Are these normal bath salts?

Lolly & Moo’s Eastern Promise Bubbly Salt Soak not only provides the benefits of salts but also foam, colour and scent. Most bath salts don’t foam, so this is very VERY special!

    Packaging

These salts come in a lidded tub with a re-useable scoop. Since I bought my Bubbly Salt Soak the packaging is changing. Rather than brown (which my salts came in), the biodegradable pots/tubs are now going white.

    How do they look?

These are varied sized grains of purple coloured powder. They don’t have the typical bath salt look to them. This is much more finer, similar to a bath dust. But you can see the tiniest little bits of salt crystals hidden in it.

    Eastern Promise Bubbly Soak
    Fragrance

Fresh, sweet, perfume like ( it’s inspired by a fragrance ), it is amazing! Its got a great strength to it, even more so when circulating in my bathroom which is warm. But its not heady and will make not only your bath smell beautiful but the room itself for a good few hours.

    In the bath

I used a handful of Eastern Promise Bubbly Soak under warm running water. This bubbled up beautifully, while releasing a purple burst of colour into the water.

    FOAM!
    On the skin

While in and out of the bath, this bath product was gentle on my skin. I suffer from psoriasis and this product caused no drying or irritation and was enjoyable to use. Not only did my skin like this but my mind liked this too. This really helped me to relax and merged together two things I love which is bubbles and salts!

    Ingredients

This doesn’t contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which is a synthetic ingredient added to products to create foam. Its cheap and not always kind to the skin, so great to see this not included. Apricot kernel oil and clay is in this which helps to keep skin soft and supple. And can’t forget the salts! A mix of Epsom and Dead Sea salts to help ease aches, soreness, relax muscles and improve the condition of the skin.

    Recommended?

Totally recommended! I love salts but always thought if they foamed it would be magic…then BINGO, this came along! And the fact it comes in a variety of scents makes this even better. For 275g of bubbly soak at a cost of £5.75 is god value and a must for any bath lover!
